Another controversy. |
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
Hey, Kim. Get ya boy!
Here's the video that sparked outrage.
“When you hear about slavery for 400 years,” he said. “For 400 years? That sounds like a choice. You was there for 400 years and it’s all of y’all. It’s like we’re mentally in prison. I like the word prison because slavery goes too direct to the idea of blacks. Slavery is to blacks as the Holocaust is to Jews. Prison is something that unites as one race, blacks and whites, that we’re the human race.”
Kanye West is sparking outrage yet again. He goes off again tweeting up controversy in the wake of his upcoming album.
He sparked anger with this latest round of bullshit.
we’re in this so-called information age but we're starving for wisdom— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 29, 2018
we're being starved and anyone who starts asking unpopular questions gets demonized. Only free thinkers can change the world— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 29, 2018
There's a silent majority of people that have been silenced for too long— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) April 29, 2018
stop thinking about things for a long time without saying what you think— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
we need to have open discussions and ideas on unsettled pain— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
to make myself clear. Of course I know that slaves did not get shackled and put on a boat by free will— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
My point is for us to have stayed in that position even though the numbers were on our side means that we were mentally enslaved— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
They cut out our tongues so we couldn't communicate to each other. I will not allow my tongue to be cut— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018

the Nat Turner movie never made it anywhere because it showed slaves revolting. I understand why my god brother Puff calls his network revolt.— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
if this was 148 years ago I would have been more like Harriet or Nat— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
we are programmed to always talk and fight race issues. We need to update our conversation.— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
the reason why I brought up the 400 years point is because we can't be mentally imprisoned for another 400 years. We need free thought now. Even the statement was an example of free thought It was just an idea— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 1, 2018
when the media masses and scholars talk about what started today. Here's a title ...— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 2, 2018
the overground hell road
I freed a thousand slaves I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves. - Harriet Tubman— KANYE WEST (@kanyewest) May 2, 2018
Okay, so here we go again.
The junk food media is reporting on these remarks like it's nothing new from Kanye.
For one thing, Blacks were not all willing to cross the ocean to become forced labor. Today and for a few more generations, Black America will continue to be scorned by white conservatives. If we protest injustice, we are regarded as "out of line with the status quo."
It's been like this for years. Whenever one leader stands out, the right vilifies that leader and the groups that support the role of the leader.
Martin Luther King, Jr., the civil rights leader was viewed negatively throughout his life. His assassination changed the norm. If he was alive today, he would be considered a gadfly to the right.
Kanye West is blessed. He is a producer, rapper, entrepreneur, clothing designer and father. Many of his descendents never achieved that goal.
And what irks me is the "lumping all Black issues" to Barack Obama.
Gun violence has been around before Obama and continues with Trump.
Loose laws in States like Indiana, Kentucky, Missouri and Wisconsin allow free access to firearms without proper background checks.
Black on Black crime isn't a race issue. It's a gun violence problem. The Right wants more Blacks to massacre their own.
Kanye West may think Donald J. Trump deserves a fair shake. I would love to say that Trump never honored Obama, Colin Kaepernick, La Donald Johnson, James Shaw, Jr., Steph Curry, Lebron James, Jemele Hill, the Central Park five, and not mention the people of Flint in the ways Kanye honored Trump.
Trump is an idiot.
Kanye West is shock value. He is the husband of a reality television agitator.
It's nothing new about it.
