A Virginia state judge puts an indefinite block on voter referendum
A Virginia commonwealth judge has placed a hold on the state certification of Tuesday’s election results which passed a referendum on the redistricting of the state's congressional districts.
Republicans celebrate this as a victory. They realized that they're playing with fire.
Had the Republicans backed the Democratic Party's proposal to have independent redistricting with federal oversight, none of this would have happened.
Florida is now trying to push to redraw their congressional map to give Republicans an advantage.
Virginia went to the voters and it passed. They passed in delegation and pushed upon the voters. The system was not rigged. It was a passed law, a ballot measure, a large turnout and an election result.
Now some white judge ruled the results moot.

Some Republican judge from Tazwell, a small town in the new Republican leaning district named Jack S. Hurley, Jr., hurled over the will of Virginia voters.
Tazwell is in southwestern Virginia. It is located 10 miles from the West Virginia border and 25 miles from Wytheville. Tazwell County which the city is its county seat backed President Donald J. Trump in 2016, 2020 and 2024 with over 80% of the vote.
A Virginia state judge blocked officials from certifying the approval of new congressional maps in Old Dominion, a day after voters narrowly passed them.
Tazewell County Circuit Court Judge Jack Hurley Jr. called the ballot measure to approve the maps "flagrantly misleading" in a ruling April 22 on a lawsuit brought by the Republican National Committee. Hurley said lawmakers had not followed the rules for the constitutional amendment that the map redrawing required.
Republicans play one desperate play.
Virginia Democratic Attorney General Jay Jones said in a statement posted to social media that he would appeal the ruling and "looks forward" to defending the measure.
"An activist judge should not have power of the People's vote," Jay said.
The referendum already has faced multiple legal challenges. The Supreme Court of Virginia allowed the referendum to proceed despite a separate case before it arguing the measure, which said the new districts would "restore fairness," was unfair and misleading. The court was set to review the legality of the referendum in the coming weeks.
Kyle Kondik, an executive at the University of Virginia Center for Politics, told USA TODAY on election night that "this map might not be in effect this November" but that voter approval was "definitely a huge hurdle to jump."
Democrats now hold six of the state's 11 congressional seats, but under the voter-approved maps, they are poised to have an overwhelming 10-1 advantage. The vote was part of a larger gerrymandering arms race President Donald J. Trump started last year to thwart an expected "blue wave" in the 2026 midterm elections.

Ernie Dosio, 75 was killed in Gabon.
I am looking for his profile, but I did find his son and his daughter-in-law. His son has the same obsession.
The 75 year old had amassed an extensive collection of exotic animal trophies throughout his home in Lodi, 30 miles south of Sacramento, California, featuring elephant, rhino, bear, buffalo, crocodile, lion, zebra and leopard. Dosio had also hunted and killed nearly every species of deer in the U.S., including elk, moose and reindeer, which adorned the walls of his private entertainment spaces.
Dosio's fatal encounter occurred on April 17 when the experienced hunter was ambushed by a group of elephants as he pursued a small forest antelope in Gabon's Lope region. The expedition was targeting a £30,000 opportunity to shoot the rare and elusive yellow backed duiker.
The father-of-two, who possessed a licence permitting him to hunt dwarf forest buffalo in Gabon, but was restricted to a shotgun for the deer expedition, had minimal defense against the five-strong herd protecting a young calf, reports the Mirror.
African elephants are the planet's largest living land mammals, with females reaching heights of 12 feet and weighing nearly four tons. They can also achieve speeds of up to 25mph when charging.
The elephants were concealed in the thick vegetation at the time, and emerged "as if from nowhere". Dosio's shotgun was flung aside as the alarmed herd turned on him and his professional hunter. While the hunter sustained serious injuries and lost his firearm in the dense undergrowth during the assault, Dosio was viciously trampled to death.
His remains are currently being repatriated by the U.S. Embassy in Gabon to Lodi, California. He leaves behind his long-term partner, Betty, and two children.
Dosio owned Pacific AgriLands Inc, which operates its own 12,000-acre vineyard in Modesto but focuses on providing management services for regional wine farms. His son, Jeff, serves as President of the company, which produces 40 percent of California's wines. His other son, Blake, is a farmer who reportedly also contributed to the family enterprise. The company provides support to most area vineyards, including the renowned EandJ Gallo wines.
A retired game hunter in Cape Town who was acquainted with the victim said: "Ernie has been hunting since he could hold a rifle and has many trophies from Africa and the U.S.
"Although many disagree with big game hunting all Ernie's hunts were strictly licensed and above board and were registered as conservation in culling animal numbers.

"Ernie had booked a hunt for dwarf forest buffalo and duikers, in particular the yellow backed duiker, and under strict licensing laws he could not take along his own guns.
"The hunting company would supply a shotgun and cartridges for the duiker hunt.
"Whilst in the forest Ernie and his PH (professional hunter) surprised 5 forest elephant cows with young and feeling under threat the elephants immediately attacked them.
"The professional hunter was attacked first and seriously injured losing his rifle which was knocked from him and lost in the undergrowth leaving Ernie with his shotgun.
"I would rather not go into detail but it is safe to assume it would have been quick.
"Ernie was a very well-known and popular hunter in the U.S. and in Africa and a very keen conservationist and he did a hell of a lot of charity work and was a really good guy.
"What happened has been deeply felt by many each side of the Atlantic" he said.
Safari operator Collect Africa also verified the tragic death of a client on April 17 through a short statement, revealing that he and the professional hunter had come across five elephant cows and a calf while pursuing a yellow backed duiker.
Ernie held lifetime membership in the hunting organization California Wildfowl and was a prominent figure in the Sacramento Safari Club. He also served as Great Elk in the Californian Central District Elks, a charitable organization of patriotic Americans recognized for backing philanthropic initiatives including military veterans, youth scholarships and disaster relief.
Lodi Lodge secretary Tommy Whitman shared in a Facebook statement yesterday: "It is with a most heavy heart and sadness that I am reporting the passing of Ernio Dosio.
"May all of our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and loved ones. Ernie was Great Elk for 30 years and a pillar in our community who will be sorely missed".
He continued: "Ernie always had his hand in his pocket and would help out those who needed it be it war veterans or handicapped or underprivileged kids.
"He would never want recognition but he was always there with a loving heart.
"Ernie's passion was hunting and he spent much of his time either hunting here in the USA or in Africa and most of his trophies are on display at his own trophy rooms.
"He will be really missed around here and was one of the real good guys" he said.
A spokesperson from Pacific AgriLand Inc stated: "Nobody here at present is available to speak. That has to be down to his son Jeff when he is ready to say something to you.
"Ernie was very popular and Jeff is taking many calls as you can well imagine. It is a huge tragedy" she said.
A close family friend revealed: "Ernie would hold a charity function there every month where food was served to members of the Elk lodges and upstanding citizens of the community.
"There would be judges, advocates and the heads of the local vineyards and big noises from industry and commerce and it was where all the local networking was done.
Entitlement is a disease.
"It was always a huge fundraiser with money raised going to help those who needed it.
"Ernie with his big moustache was larger than life but did not show it off although he had money he was not one for the big house or fancy cars or the jet-set lifestyle.
"He was a just a farmer and good old country boy who loved to hunt and fish. There are not many in the U.S. today who would have a trophy collection to match Ernie's.
"The news of his death in Africa was like a bomb going off here. It has been said the elephants came out of nowhere. One thing is for sure he will get a huge send off."

What to Do If Charged
Stand Your Ground (If it's a Bluff): A mock charge often involves a swaying motion and loose, flapping ears. Stand still and try not to make sudden movements.
Hide: Use thick trees or large rocks for cover, as these can obscure the elephant’s sight.
Run Zig-Zag: If it is a real charge (ears pinned back), run away in a zig-zag pattern, as elephants are not agile at making sharp turns.
Create Noise: If the elephant is close, try using a loud, firm voice or a loud noise to scare it away.

On Wednesday, Laura Loomer called Candace Owens a "nappy headed bitch" because she turned on President Donald J. Trump, criticized the Iranian War, disputed the Charlie Kirk assassination and calls Erika Kirk a honey trap.
Loomer is indirectly a voice in the president's ear. She is allegedly a mistress.
She is mentally ill. She has deformed her face so badly, people refer to her as the iconic movie horror villain Jigsaw of the Saw franchise.
She is not allowed to own firearms because she is threat to her self and others.
Both far right agitators are insufferable.
Owens is running on the America First and Loomer is running on MAGA witn Israel.
Loomer referred Owens as a “resentful, ghetto, Black bitch" and launching into a stream of personal attacks that went far beyond political disagreement.
“I'm not afraid of Candace Owens and I'm happy to match her energy. I'm happy to wrestle in the mud with that. Roll around and hurl insults back and forth with her if that's what she wants to do. There's really honestly nothing that this woman can do to me. There's nothing that Candace Owens can say about me that's going to harm me,” Loomer ranted.
She continued, “Candace Owens is a liar, okay, and she's a deeply insecure woman who is very unloved at the end of the day. This is a woman who is allegedly in a relationship with a gay man who is always going to feel the rejection of her family. Your husband hates you! Humanity hates you, everybody who loved Charlie Kirk hates you. Your children are 100% going to hate you, and if what Milo [Yiannopoulos] is saying about your husband allegedly getting plunged in the ass by other men is true, your husband? Person that you're supposed to grow old and die with, hates you.”

Loomer’s heated comments landed in the middle of a public feud that has already been spiraling through conservative media circles.
Loomer is no stranger to controversy. She has long been known for incendiary rhetoric, anti-Muslim comments, and conspiracy-fueled attacks, and has become a familiar presence in Trump’s orbit. Newsweek described her as a far-right activist who says she speaks frequently with Trump, while the Guardian has also noted her influence around his administration.
Meanwhile, Owens is hardly a stranger to public blowups herself. Owens is described as a conservative political commentator known for inflammatory posts and videos. She has become one of the most influential promoters of antisemitic conspiracy theories online. In other words: this is a mess involving two people who already live at the center of political chaos.
Loomer’s rant also showed how quickly this right-wing civil war has turned personal. It was recently reported that Loomer publicly blasted Owens over her feud with Erika Kirk, describing Owens’ behavior as “depraved” and “total harassment.” So this latest attack is not happening in a vacuum. The vitriol is part of a larger, very public breakdown among some of the most visible names in MAGA media. At this point, the story isn’t even about politics as it is about how ugly these fights have become. And when racism gets thrown into the mix, there is nothing entertaining about it.
Loomer is called "Larry" because many of her critics thinks she is transgender. Basically attacking transgender Americans by insulting Loomer for looking like a man.
The leading cause of death among children is gun violence. Not transgender Americans. Not video games. Not rap music. Not streamers. Not podcasters. Not woke.
We got to stop gaslighting. Nevermind, its a free country. They never will learn.
Until it affects their pocket, their family or their lives, it's always point and sneer.

The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Department says the shooter hasn't been identified.
A shooting broke out at the Mall of Louisiana in Baton Rouge on Thursday, April 23, injuring 10 people in what appears to have started as a fight between two groups of people, city officials said.
Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards wrote in a Facebook post that 10 people were reported as victims and have been taken to local hospitals. It's "believed to be a targeted shooting incident," he wrote.
Baton Rouge Police Chief Thomas Morse said at a news conference that the condition of all the victims is unknown, but some are undergoing surgery. Surveillance footage showed two groups of people getting into an argument before beginning to shoot at each other, he said.
“Right now there is no known threat to the public," Morse said. "As we start developing suspects, we will do everything we can. This does not appear to be a random act of violence but a very targeted disagreement between two groups of people."
In a post on Facebook, the Baton Rouge Police Department said the "shooter(s)" are "still at large."
At the scene at about 1:40 p.m. local time about two dozen police cars surrounded the mall located southeast of downtown Baton Rouge. Crowds exited the mall in a panic. Some stopped to hug one another or record the scene on their cellphones.
Police gave bystanders little information, telling them there was an active shooter and to avoid the area. Authorities directed people attempting to turn around and not head to the mall. Ambulances and four fire trucks were on the scene.
Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said he was working with law enforcement to respond to the situation.
Mall of Louisiana closed indefinitely.
“I am aware of the active shooter scene at the Mall of Louisiana. I am in coordination with law enforcement and we will update as we know more. Please avoid the area,” Landry said in a post on X. “Sharon and I are praying for those affected and are grateful for a quick response by our law enforcement officials.”
Mayor vows to catch 'thugs who did this'
Baton Rouge Mayor Sid Edwards is promising that law enforcement will catch the one or more shooters responsible for the violence at a mall in the city on Thursday.
"To the thugs who did this, we're going to catch you," he told reporters at the shooting scene. "We're not going to have this in Baton Rouge. It's not going to happen and I have complete confidence in our law enforcement partners that we're going to go out and grab these guys and get them off the street."
Asked about two back-to-back tragedies this week in Louisiana − the mall shooting and the massacre of eight children over the weekend in Shreveport − Edwards said people "have a right to be concerned."
"Sometimes the devil lives everywhere," he said. "This is one of those situations, no matter how much law enforcement you got or social programs or whatever, if someone gets in their mind that they're going to do something like this, they're going to do it. And then sometimes all we can do is respond."
The status quo politics of "can't do nothing" or "now is not the time."
On average there are two mass shootings a day now. It never stops.

The person with easy access to firearms should be the only answer. Alas, the far right is hoping for this to be a person they can scapegoat as their next de jour of outrage. Anyone can get firearm in the United States. Even, people who are non U.S. citizens are allowed to obtain firearms.
The real issue is not just guns, it's white men, white women tears and white boys. They are losing their goddamn minds. Inspired by loneliness, politics, job loss, social media trends, endless perceptions of others, the lack of opportunities (besides joining the military) and the need to be ahead of everyone else is what drives these fools to commit endless chaos.
If the suspect is white, they will give the shooter a glaring profile. If the suspect is not white, expect the far right to claim its the left or accused a certain nationality, race, religion or sexuality the cause of mass shootings.
White privilege also santizes the white shooters. Already we are getting details of the mass shooters. Glaring profiles of these white mass shooters to paint them as unfortunate circumstances. Ignoring the fact, these terrorists had signs of potential danger but their families thought it was just noise.
That restraining order doesn't mean much to a deranged individual. It's a trigger!
I wish things could have turned out well! But unfortunately, a shooter never abides to a court order!
How can a piece of paper protect a victim when it's not reliant on stopping the perpetrator (from causing harm)?

Black shooters are unrepentant thugs and criminals who deserve lengthy time in the iron college or death. Gay and transgender shooters are active groomers who want to be pedophiles on children. Muslim shooters are terrorists who should be surveiled or deported. Hispanic and Asian shooters are illegal immigrants and they should be deported. According to the far right, almost all white [or non-white] mass shooters are registered Democrats [leftist or some progressive activist] because they have liked or done one thing common to the politics of the left. Of course, they often share or post disinformation by using the ridiculous "Sam Hyde" meme or make bogus social media platforms with the shooter's image as a way to denounce most mass shooters being white or associated with conservative causes. The far right says a white person should "protect" themselves from thugs, terrorists or protesters. They believe the use of firearms are "justified" if they are protesting or even instigating a conflict. The far right believes if a shooter is a police officer, an active military member, a veteran or a citizen who supports conservative causes, they are considered a "heroes" and use of firearms are justified. If the shooters are teens in urban communities, the far right automatically assume the gunmen are Black. Even if the evidence turns out that the shooter has alignment with conservative causes or Republicans, the far right dismisses it as a hoax or a plot to demonize the MAGA movement.
The Republicans usually amplify white victims. Anytime a person of color kills a white victim, it is often wall-to-wall coverage on Fox, Twitter and they force it into national news. They make the case to blame Black Lives Matter, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris, Democrats, Rev. Al Sharpton and rap music for Black on whatever violence. Republican lawmakers who do not live in urban neighborhoods often troll social media to talk about gun violence or crime in Chicago, Baltimore, Milwaukee and New York City while not doing a damn thing to stop it. If a white person shoots a Black person, the shooter is given the benefit of doubt. White shooters are given glowing profiles about their perfect lives and how friends noticed something but refused to do something. When it comes to Black shooters, automatic vilification. They don't see mental illness. They see it as gang violence, allegedly fatherless homes, Democratic policies or the need for more firearms.

As the disgraced police chief Kamran Afzal leaves the Dayton Police for Greensboro, the city hires the assistant chief to be his replacement. The decision was inside and it was met with mixed results.
City manager Shelley Dickstein announced that Eric Anderson will succeed Afzal. The pick was easy sort of. They decided to focus on locality for once. Anderson who been in the department for 27 years will take on the tasks that Afzal failed at doing.
In his five years as Dayton Police Chief, the city has experienced a rise in car theft, vandalism, gun violence and police brutality. There were three incidents this year involving Dayton Police using force against people. Afzal was terrible, period.
No matter where he goes, trouble will follow.
“Eric has broad and deep knowledge of the varied operations throughout the police department and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and build meaningful, strategic partnerships with community stakeholders. I am confident in his ability to work with any group that is authentically interested in continuing the work to make Dayton a safe and peaceful city for all,” said Dayton City Manager Shelley Dickstein.
The city convened a community stakeholder interview panel to ensure public participation which was facilitated by the director of the Criminal Justice Program at Cedarville University, Patrick Oliver, with leaders from businesses, neighborhoods, civil rights organizations, education organizations, nonprofits and community advocacy groups.
Henderson has served with approximately 365 sworn officers and 40 professional staff during his tenure with the Dayton Police Department. He has held several command positions, including deputy chief, major, lieutenant, sergeant, detective and patrol officer.
Officials said he has overseen major operational divisions, directed emergency responses and led efforts for community-centered policing reform.
He has also served on Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost’s Blue Ribbon Task Force to improve police training standards and has collaborated with Ohio legislators on laws affecting public safety. He has also served on civic and professional boards, including the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police Legislative Committee and Code Credit Union Board of Directors.

In his new role as police chief, Henderson will oversee all department operations, including public safety strategy, crime prevention, emergency response, officer development and community engagement.
“As Chief, my focus will be building trust and transparency within the department and with the community through listening, communication, and accountability,” Henderson said. “Violent crime continues to cause generational harm to families across our city, and we will confront it by working alongside community members, the business community and our partners across all levels of government, using coordinated enforcement, technology and evidence-based strategies focused on those responsible for violent crime. We will also invest in our people, prioritizing wellness, building resilience, and ensuring our staff have the training and professional development they need to serve at their best.”
Henderson has a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Park University; a graduate certificate in Criminal Justice from the University of Virginia; and graduated from the FBI National Academy.
He will begin his new role on Thursday, May 7.
Greensboro, the Dayton of the South has gun violence, but a rapid growth burst.
Since North Carolina chooses to sprawl and rapidly develop around its natural corridors, it has become a viable state where the population has reached 10.3 million. It will surpass Ohio in 2028 in growth making it the seventh most populated state. It is at risk for catastrophic flooding, deadlier hurricanes, deadlier winter storms and deadlier tornadoes. The state has a deadly heat bubble. The invasive species like the African honeybee (killer bees), European carp, tiger mosquitoes and wild boars are bring dangerous diseases to the state.
Greensboro has a population of 321,000. It has grown so much, it has added new interstate freeways to deal with the rapid growth. The city has also a failed police chief.
The city faced controversy for picking Afzal over a well qualified Black assistant police chief who been with the agency for 20 years. Stephanie Mardis was overlooked for person who has a track record of not staying put for more than 10 years.
Democrats are stuck on stupid when it comes to changing course.

David Scott, the moderate Black Democrat from Atlanta, Georgia has passed away. Only two months ago, Scott filed for reelection.
Scott, a Georgia Democrat and the first Black chairman of the House Agriculture Committee, has died. He was 80.
Scott, who was seeking his 13th term in Congress despite challenges from within his party, was once a leading voice for Democrats on issues related to farm aid policy and food aid for consumers and a prominent Black member of the party’s moderate Blue Dog caucus. But he faced criticism and concerns in recent years because of declining health, enduring a primary challenge in 2024 and facing another one at the time of his death.
Democrats on Capitol Hill praised the longtime lawmaker.
“The news of Congressman Scott’s passing is deeply sad,” House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries told reporters on Wednesday.
“David Scott was a trailblazer who served the district that he represented admirably, rose up from humble beginnings to become the first African American ever to chair the House Ag Committee,” Jeffries said. “He cared about the people that he represented. He was fiercely committed to getting things done for the people of the great state of Georgia, and he’ll be deeply missed.”
News of Scott’s death came during the Congressional Black Caucus’ weekly luncheon on Capitol Hill. The Black Caucus’ chair, Rep. Yvette Clarke, told lawmakers at the outset of the meeting.
The White House lowered its flags to half-staff after Scott’s death.
Death creates another vacancy
Scott’s death slightly widens Republicans’ narrow House majority going into the thick of this midterm election year The GOP began the current Congress with a 220-215 advantage, but the margin has fluctuated. Scott is the fourth House Democrat to die in office during this Congress.
Scott had been mostly absent from the campaign trail in 2024 and 2026 and had become a noted example of Democrats’ aging leadership targeted by younger generations of the left. He dodged questions from reporters when he qualified for another term in March, but he earlier dismissed pressure to retire.
“Thank God I’m in good health, moving and doing the people’s work,” the congressman said in 2024.
His wife and campaign adviser Alfredia Scott was even more direct. “When the congressman decides to leave, he won’t be pushed out,” she said in 2024. “He will bow out.”
State officials will have to schedule a special election to fill out the rest of Scott’s term, which could overlap with elections to choose a representative for the next two-year term. Early in-person voting starts Monday for May 19 party primaries for the next full term.
Scott was a pioneering Black lawmaker
David Albert Scott was born in rural Aynor, South Carolina, on June 27, 1945, in the era of Jim Crow segregation. He spent part of his childhood in Scranton, Pennsylvania, along with stints New York and Florida. Scott graduated from Florida A&M University, one of the nation’s largest historically Black college campuses — and in office he was an outspoken advocate for federal support of HBCUs. Scott also earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School in 1969.
He settled in Atlanta, opened his own advertising business and got his start in politics as a staffer on Andrew Young’s 1972 congressional campaign. Young would go on to be Atlanta mayor and United Nations ambassador under President Jimmy Carter, another Georgian.
The support of Young and baseball legend Henry “Hank” Aaron, who was the older brother of Scott’s wife, helped launch Scott into Congress in 2002, said Democratic state Sen. Emanuel Jones. He was opposing Scott in the May 19 primary, although he called Scott “a good friend.”
Scott was one of a pioneering generation of Black state lawmakers in Georgia, winning election to the state House in 1974 and the state Senate in 1982 before being elected to Congress. Once identifying as a moderate “Blue Dog” — Scott had sponsored a law mandating a moment of silent school prayer in the state Senate — he evolved into a more mainstream liberal.
Scott was angered by a photographer snapping him in a wheelchair.
An advocate for historically Black schools
Scott served decades in Congress while living outside his district after maps were redrawn. He maintained support, focusing intently on constituent service including hosting job and health fairs.
Among his notable achievements on Capitol Hill, Scott secured $80 million for historically Black land-grant schools as part of the 2018 Farm Bill. The money was steered to agriculture-related scholarships at 19 campuses. He helped author various housing and mortgage aid measures, and he pushed for better health care and other benefits for veterans and their families. On foreign policy, Scott was an outspoken advocate for NATO and post-World War II American alliances.
Scott’s fellow Democrats ousted him from his post as ranking minority member on the Agriculture Committee in 2024 amid concerns about his age and health.
Scott is survived by Alfredia Scott, the couple’s two adult daughters and grandchildren.

The Measures Against Marxism’s Dangerous Adherents and Noxious Islamists Act [MAMDANI Act] proposes amending the Immigration and Nationality Act, which dictates federal immigration law, to allow for the deportation, denaturalization, denial of citizenship or entry to any migrant that is a member of a socialist party, communist party, the Chinese Communist Party or Islamic fundamentalist party.
It also proposes imposing such restrictions on any migrant who “advocates” for socialism, communism, Marxism or Islamic fundamentalism, a sweeping term that includes “writing, districting, circulating, printing, displaying, possessing, or publishing any written, electronic, or printed matter” in support of those ideologies, according to the bill’s text.
The acronym for the bill is a reference to New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani (D), a democratic socialist who was born in Uganda and moved to the city as a child. Mamdani, who is Muslim, became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2018.
The Hill has reached out to Mamdani’s office for comment.

In a press release, Roy asked why the U.S. continues “to import people who hate us?” in reference to those who support the ideologies targeted by his bill.

Under the bill, migrants who can establish that their advocacy for one of the listed ideologies occurred before they turned 14 years old are exempt from the restrictions.
As for those deemed part of an “Islamic fundamentalist party,” the bill lists the Muslim Brotherhood, the Islamic State, the Al-Nour Party, Hamas, Hezbollah, Boko Haram and Al-Shabaab as falling under that category.
There were an estimated 3.45 million Muslims in the U.S. as of 2017, according to the Pew Research Center.
Back in October, Roy introduced the Sharia-Free America Act, which proposes preventing foreign nationals who observe Sharia law from entering the U.S. or remaining in the country.

A woman who made a viral rant calling Black people racial slurs was outed as a Houston Police officer. Now it will certainly affect the agency, the precient she was stationed at and the community that depends on her to do her job with impartiality.
It also grows the calls for the end of police immunity.
Ashley Gonzales has officially scrubbed her social media. I had difficulty trying to search for all her profiles. I didn't bother looking at MySpace but I will soon. But TikTok, Facebook and YouTube profiles of her are gone. But I am definitely looking for all of them.
Authorities said they believe it's Houston Police Officer Ashley Gonzalez in the video. While she's still technically an employee, she has been relieved of duty.
According to Houston Police Department officials, Gonzalez turned in her badge and gun and will be checked on to make sure she's at her house every day. She's not allowed to perform any police duties. When the investigation into the incident is complete, she will either be reinstated or indefinitely suspended, which means she will be fired and not eligible to be rehired.
In the video, Gonzalez appears to be referring to an incident that happened while she was off duty. She said she "hated Black people" and if she were to respond to a 911 call and a Black person was at the scene, she would take them to jail. She used the N-word several times and referenced slavery.
In the video, she said she felt good about calling a Black person the N-word to their face.
Gonzalez mentioned that the situation she was talking about in the video reminded her of her time in the Marines. According to military officials, Gonzalez served in the Marines from March 2019 through March 2023 and reached the rank of Corporal, E4. She was a motor vehicle operator and earned several awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. Records show she did not deploy during her tenure.
The Houston Police Officers' Union issued a statement condemning Gonzalez's actions. The president of the Houston chapter of the NAACP, Bishop James Dixon, also condemned the video. He told us he has talked with the HPOU president, and they are on the same page.
“That is a sick mindset and is violence waiting to happen," Dixon said.
Dixon added that he has heard from several officers who are also disgusted by her actions.
Pretty stupid.
"Most people in law enforcement don't represent this ideology," Dixon said. "She misrepresented, you know, her colleagues and those who are out here every day trying to build public trust through the kind of service they provide."

It is our belief that the Department is diligently working to confirm the authenticity of this video and will take appropriate measures to ensure public confidence and trust between our Department and our community."
While officers have limited free speech rights, they cannot engage in behavior that undermines the department's professionalism.
Houston a city with 2.7 million residents, extending into four counties has over 5,800 officers covering 678 miles.
The lack of sympathy when a police officer killed on duty will be directly traced to people like that woman. Her rant will assure that people will not shed one tear if a police officer is killed.
When cops are acting like this on social media or in public, the likelihood of watching their fellow officers die is strong. When a suspect does kill a law enforcement officer, people gonna justify it by saying folks like Ashley Gonzales made it possible.
Her rants show that the whole department would rather kill you than protect you.
So why not protect yourself from the abusive cops?
If she is terminated, she will be ineligible to serve as a law enforcement officer in Texas.
If she does move to another state, it could follow her. But it highly unlikely she will ever be a police officer again.
