| CBS ends Watson and DMV |
I said I want Larry Ellison, his son David and Bari Weiss to fail. I mean it with all my soul.
I want them to be facing criminal charges for aiding and abetting in a genocide, collusion with foreign agents and insider trading.
One could only hope.
It will also have two other shows that have lead Black actors joining the series.
The Morris Chestnut medical mystery drama Watson and Tim Meadows comedy DMV are cancelled.
CBS did not provide specific reasons for ending either series. Both shows are expected to air their remaining scheduled episodes before leaving the network’s lineup.
“Watson,” which premiered in January 2025, will end after its second season. The drama stars Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson in a modern reimagining of the Sherlock Holmes universe, where the character trades criminal cases for rare medical mysteries. Watson leads a team of investigators, dubbed “doc-tectives,” as they tackle unusual diseases and conditions.
The series’ second season featured the unexpected return of Sherlock Holmes, portrayed by Robert Carlyle, who had been presumed dead. Craig Sweeny created the show and served as executive producer alongside Chestnut, Larry Teng, Shäron Moalem, Aaron Kaplan and Brian Morewitz.
CBS also canceled “DMV,” a single-camera comedy that debuted in October 2025. The show takes place inside an East Hollywood Department of Motor Vehicles office and follows the workplace dynamics of its staff. The ensemble cast includes Harriet Dyer, Tim Meadows, Tony Cavalero, Molly Kearney, Alex Tarrant and Gigi Zumbado, playing characters ranging from a driving examiner with “bad boundaries” to a misanthropic former English teacher.
Dana Klein created “DMV” and executive produced with Matt Kuhn, Aaron Kaplan, Wendi Trilling and Robyn Meisinger.
This also reminds us of Poppa's House, the sitcom that starred Damon Wayans, Damon Wayans, Jr. and Essence Atkins. It was considered one of the funniest sitcoms ever.
CBS claimed it was an expensive show to produce and they rather just cut it loose than add more episodes.
NBC is likely going to cancel Tracey Morgan's sitcom The Life and Fall of Reggie Dinkins.
NBC had cancelled Black and Latino lead shows. Lopez vs. Lopez and Grand Crew were cancelled in past seasons.
