The "Peace" President Went Rogue: Invades Venezuela And Captures Nicolas Maduro!

The "peace president" at the behest of Israel and far right opposition leader Maria Machado have overthrown Nicolas Maduro.

This is a "Wag the Dog". This will spark a global backlash against the United States.

The United States invaded Venezuela on Jan. 3, 2026. It used military airstikes on Caracas.

The U.S. president openly bragged he has captured the Venezuelan president and his wife. President Donald J. Trump, the "no new wars" guy who openly has a conviction for fraud and a liability of being a sexual predator claims the operation was a success. The same U.S. president who tried to overthrow the very government he runs because he lost in 2020. Do not tell me this was a moment in American honor.

This was straight up imperialism.

This is why white men cannot lead the United States as president no more. Once Trump is out of office, y'all better start vetting these replacements. 

If they back Israel, resort to neverending distractions, continue to support punch down politics, worry about the personal lives of their opponents instead of the policies put forth and were born after 1979, you cannot back them, period.

This will not sit well with Congress. Some Republicans and Sen. John Fetterman (I-PA) will pat the president on his back saying that this illegal aggression was justified. The rest of the country, Democrats and of course the United Nations will denounce this.

Israel has killed 20 so far and its only three days into the new year.

Protests erupted in Iran over their economy. The U.S. sanctions have stressed the Iranian people and the country has pockets of unrest. Iran claims the Israeli Mossad is trying to stir up unrest in preparation for another series of airstrikes. Iran warns if the Israelis attack, they will end all ceasefire talks and begin aggressively attacking Israel.

Venezuela has no drug-smuggling operations. What it does have is one of the largest oil reserves in the Global South. It has a socialist government and it has strong support for Palestinians.

The United States hit Venezuela with a “large-scale strike” early Saturday and said its president, Nicolás Maduro, had been captured and flown out of the country after months of stepped-up pressure by Washington — an extraordinary nighttime operation announced by President Donald Trump on social media hours after the attack.

White men are the cause of chaos in the world. Donald J. Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu are the most dangerous leaders in the world.

Multiple explosions rang out and low-flying aircraft swept through Caracas, the capital, as Maduro’s government immediately accused the United States of attacking civilian and military installations. The Venezuelan government called it an “imperialist attack” and urged citizens to take to the streets.

This is a war crime.

It was not immediately clear who was running the country, and Maduro’s whereabouts were not immediately known. Trump announced the developments on Truth Social shortly after 4:30 a.m. ET. Under Venezuelan law the vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, would take power. There was no confirmation that had happened, though she did issue a statement after the strike.

“We do not know the whereabouts of President Nicolás Maduro and First Lady Cilia Flores,” Rodriguez said. “We demand proof of life.”

Maduro, Trump said, “has been, along with his wife, captured and flown out of the Country. This operation was done in conjunction with U.S. Law Enforcement. Details to follow.” He set a news conference for later Saturday morning.

The legal implications of the strike under U.S. law were not immediately clear. Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, posted on X that he had spoken with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who briefed him on the strike. Rubio told Lee that Maduro “has been arrested by U.S. personnel to stand trial on criminal charges in the United States.”

The White House did not immediately respond to queries on where Maduro and his wife were being flown to. Maduro was indicted in March 2020 on “narco-terrorism” conspiracy charges in the Southern District of New York.

Maduro last appeared on state television Friday while meeting with a delegation of Chinese officials in Caracas.

The explosions in Caracas, Venezuela’s capital, early on the third day of 2026 — at least seven blasts — sent people rushing into the streets, while others took to social media to report hearing and seeing the explosions. It was not immediately clear if there were casualties on either side. The attack itself lasted less than 30 minutes and it was unclear if more actions lay ahead, though Trump said in his post that the strikes were carried out “successfully.”

The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ban on U.S. commercial flights in Venezuelan airspace because of “ongoing military activity” ahead of the explosions.

The strike came after the Trump administration spent months escalating pressure on Maduro. The CIA was behind a drone strike last week at a docking area believed to have been used by Venezuelan drug cartels — the first known direct operation on Venezuelan soil since the U.S. began strikes in September.

For months, Trump had threatened that he could soon order strikes on targets on Venezuelan land following months of attacks on boats accused of carrying drugs. Maduro has decried the U.S. military operations as a thinly veiled effort to oust him from power.

Some streets in Caracas fill up

Armed individuals and uniformed members of a civilian militia took to the streets of a Caracas neighborhood long considered a stronghold of the ruling party. But in other areas of the city, the streets remained empty hours after the attack. Parts of the city remained without power, but vehicles moved freely.

Video obtained from Caracas and an unidentified coastal city showed tracers and smoke clouding the landscape sky as repeated muted explosions illuminated the night sky. Other footage showed an urban landscape with cars passing on a highway as blasts illuminated the hills behind them. Unintelligible conversation could be heard in the background. The videos were verified by The Associated Press.

Smoke was seen rising from the hangar of a military base in Caracas, while another military installation in the capital was without power.

Delcy Rodríguez, Vice President of Venezuela warns the U.S. that our aggression will be the downfall.

“The whole ground shook. This is horrible. We heard explosions and planes,” said Carmen Hidalgo, a 21-year-old office worker, her voice trembling. She was walking briskly with two relatives, returning from a birthday party. “We felt like the air was hitting us.”

Venezuela’s government responded to the attack with a call to action. “People to the streets!” it said in a statement. “The Bolivarian Government calls on all social and political forces in the country to activate mobilization plans and repudiate this imperialist attack.”

The statement added that Maduro had “ordered all national defense plans to be implemented” and declared “a state of external disturbance.” That state of emergency gives him the power to suspend people’s rights and expand the role of the armed forces.

The website of the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela, a post that has been closed since 2019, issued a warning to American citizens in the country, saying it was “aware of reports of explosions in and around Caracas.”

“U.S. citizens in Venezuela should shelter in place,” the warning said.

Reaction begins to emerge

Inquiries to the Pentagon and U.S. Southern Command since Trump’s social media post went unanswered. The FAA warned all commercial and private U.S. pilots that the airspace over Venezuela and the small island nation of Curacao, just off the coast of the country to the north, was off limits “due to safety-of-flight risks associated with ongoing military activity.”

Lee posted his potential concerns, reflecting a view from the right flank in the Congress. “I look forward to learning what, if anything, might constitutionally justify this action in the absence of a declaration of war or authorization for the use of military force,” Lee said on X.

It was not clear if the U.S. Congress had been officially notified of the strikes.

The Armed Services committees in both houses of Congress, which have jurisdiction over military matters, have not been notified by the administration of any actions, according to a person familiar with the matter and granted anonymity to discuss it.

Lawmakers from both political parties in Congress have raised deep reservations and flat out objections to the U.S. attacks on boats suspected of drug smuggling on boats near the Venezuelan coast and the Congress has not specifically approved an authorization for the use of military force for such operations in the region.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said the military action and seizure of Maduro marks “a new dawn for Venezuela,” saying that “the tyrant is gone.” He posted on X hours after the strike. His boss, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, reposted a post from July that said Maduro “is NOT the President of Venezuela and his regime is NOT the legitimate government.”

Cuba, a supporter of the Maduro government and a longtime adversary of the United States, called for the international community to respond to what president Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez called “the criminal attack.” “Our zone of peace is being brutally assaulted,” he said on X. Iran’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the strikes.

President Javier Milei of Argentina praised the claim by his close ally, Trump, that Maduro had been captured with a political slogan he often deploys to celebrate right-wing advances: “Long live freedom, dammit!”

The U.S. military has been attacking boats in the Caribbean Sea and the eastern Pacific Ocean since early September. As of Friday, the number of known boat strikes is 35 and the number of people killed is at least 115, according to numbers announced by the Trump administration.

They followed a major buildup of American forces in the waters off South America, including the arrival in November of the nation’s most advanced aircraft carrier, which added thousands more troops to what was already the largest military presence in the region in generations.

Trump has justified the boat strikes as a necessary escalation to stem the flow of drugs into the U.S. and asserted that the U.S. is engaged in an “armed conflict” with drug cartels.

You want the U.S. to improve the immigration process. You want the U.S. lawmakers stop dehumanizing human beings. You want the U.S. to prove to the world its a beacon of freedom. You want our American military out of our cities, the Middle East and every fucking international conflict in the world. You want legislation to focus on lowering the cost of rent, lowering the cost of food, lowering the cost of hospital visits, improving healthcare and building relationships with other nations. Let them know that you will not tolerate a government shutdown which affects federal services for Americans in need or in support of services. Let them know that pulling out of the UN Human Rights Organization, World Health Organization and Paris Climate Accords will put the U.S. in danger when catastrophic event happen. Let them know that you are tired of private equity firms getting away with destroying small businesses and long established companies. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel and Ukraine. You are tired of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-semitic or in support of terrorism because you support the freedom of Palestinians. You are tired of the propaganda being forced on your media platforms.

We have bigger issues at home and our tax dollars should solve the housing crisis, lowering food prices, fixing roads, bridges, helping reinvest in struggling urban and rural communities. We have hospitals closing, big box retailers leaving communities and television programs dying. There are bigger issues in the country than Israel. You want an immediate ceasefire, a weapons embargo, sanctions and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more domestic or foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and lawmakers avoid influence from lobbyists and special interest groups.

A woman was mauled to death by a mountain lion in northern Colorado.

Why it's the first "You Can't Fix Stupid" story of 2026!

A woman was killed in a suspected mountain lion attack while she was hiking alone in the mountains of northern Colorado on Thursday, in what would be the first fatal attack by one of the predators in the state in more than 25 years, authorities said.

Wildlife officers later in the day located two mountain lions in the area and fatally shot the animals, said Kara Van Hoose with Colorado Parks and Wildlife.

The attack occurred in the mountains south of the small community of Glen Haven, about 7 miles northeast of Estes Park and considered the gateway to the eastern entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park.

Shortly before noon, two hikers encountered a mountain lion near the woman’s body along a remote section of the Crosier Mountain trail, which is on a national forest.

The hikers threw rocks at the animal to scare it from the immediate area so they could try to help the woman, Van Hoose said. One of the hikers was a physician who attended to the victim and did not find a pulse, she said.

Details on the woman’s injuries and cause of death were not immediately released.

Van Hoose said the search for other mountain lions in the area was ongoing. She said circumstances would dictate whether any additional lions that are found are killed.

Sightings of mountain lions are common in the forested area where the suspected attack occurred, but there have not been any recent documented attacks on humans, Van Hoose said.

“This is a very common time of year to take mountain lion sightings and reports and especially in Larimer County, where this is very good mountain lion habitat,” she said. “Trails in this area are in pretty remote land, so it’s wooded, it’s rocky, there’s elevation gains and dips.”

Mountain lion attacks are rare and Colorado’s last suspected fatal attack was in 1999, when a 3-year-old was killed. Two years before that, a 10-year-old boy was killed by a lion and dragged away while hiking with family members in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Last year in Northern California two brothers were stalked and then attacked by a lion that they tried to fight off. One of the brothers was killed.

Things some people do for 200. The dumbest things. Think if the cougar was alive and had an opportunity. One of these people would be dead.

The animals, also known as cougars, catamounts and other names, can weigh 130 pounds (60 kilograms) and grow to more than six feet (1.8meters) long. They eat primarily deer.

Colorado has an estimated 3,800-4,400 of the animals, which are classified as a big game species in the state and can be hunted.

Mountain lions (cogurs) are large felines that have a bite force of 1,200 lbs. They are ambush predators. They often rely on an animal not noticing them. They normally avoid human contact unless provoked by people getting too close or near their cubs. The animal is known for eating elk, deer, rabbits, rodents, foxes, insects, domestic dogs, domestic cats, small mammals, fish and birds. They also eat carrion if necessary.

To avoid a mountain lion attack, stay aware, hike in groups, keep children and pets close and on leashes, and avoid dawn/dusk hiking; if you encounter one, never run, make yourself look big and loud (open jacket, raise arms, throw objects), maintain eye contact, and back away slowly; if attacked, fight back aggressively, protecting your head and neck, as running triggers their chase instinct. 
  • Stay Alert: Hike in groups, keep children and pets close (leashed), and avoid jogging/biking at dusk/dawn when they hunt.
  • Be Aware: Watch for tracks, listen for animal calls, and read trail signs about recent activity.
  • Make Noise: Talk, sing, or wear bells to avoid surprising them. 
  • Fight Back Viciously: Do not play dead; use anything as a weapon (rocks, sticks, hands).
  • Protect Head & Neck: These are primary targets; try to stay standing and face the animal.
  • Use Your Backpack: If wearing one, use it as a shield for your back and stomach. 
If you do get attacked by a mountain lion, always go for its eyes. If it cause irritating pain to its eyes, it will likely retreat. If you carry bear spraying mace or rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle, it will gives you at least 45 seconds of not dying.

Mountain lions are known residents in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Texas, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and rarely in Kansas or Minnesota. In Florida, they are called the Florida Panther, a critically endangered species. It is a cougar. 

In Canada, they are known in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, the Northwest Territories and rarely in Ontario.

It Takes A Special Breed Of Idiots To Break Into A Family Dollar And Daycare Because Of Nick Shirley!

What type of idiot breaks into a daycare center and Family Dollar? An idiot inspired by some nonsense they seen on social media.

Nick Shirley, you are definitely at risk for a class action lawsuit by those you've affected these last two weeks. You will regret that slanderous video you made about innocent Americans.

Somebody got the most dumbest piece of work to break into a Family Dollar and destroy a wall to break into a daycare center to steal confidential records of employees or children.

A Minneapolis day care says that vandals damaged the facility early this week and took information about employees and children from their records, after a YouTube video purporting to expose fraud among day cares in the Twin Cities metro area went viral.

Officials with the Nokomis Daycare Center in Minneapolis claim that vandals broke in early Tuesday morning, between 3 and 6 a.m. Nokomis was not among the day cares featured in the viral video, posted by rightwing influencer Nick Shirley. 

Vandals got into the day care through cinder blocks, according to the day care. It appears the vandals first tried to saw into the door of a Family Dollar store next door in the shopping center, but that didn't work, officials said.

The manager claims those who broke in went straight to the office, stealing information about the many children who were taken care of there, as well as employees' information. Minneapolis police said, "No loss was (initially) reported to officers, but late this morning the original reporting party reached out to MPD with additional information about the case, including the loss."

WCCO checked with the Minnesota Department of Human Services, which does not show any record of the facility having committed any fraud. The records, which are in the public record, show other minor violations.

"We are not a part of any harmful things that are being said," day care manager Nasrulah Mohamed said. "Our licensing has been good, even the inspections. I want to say no intimidation is going to stop us."

The video, posted to Shirley's YouTube account, showed the influencer visiting various day cares and claiming them to be empty. According to X, the video has been seen in excess of 120 million times.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday said it's freezing child care funds for Minnesota, explicitly citing Shirley's fraud allegations. Deputy HHS Secretary Jim O'Neill demanded that Minnesota officials carry out a "comprehensive audit" of the day care facilities featured in the video.

CBS News and WCCO conducted their own analyses of the day care centers. Contrary to Shirley's claims, all but two have active licenses, according to state records, and all have been visited by state regulators within the last six months.

You mean to tell me that the Minneapolis Police have to investigate a burglary at two businesses and it is based off a fake video by a 23 year old Utah man who is an idiot?

There is also a campaign of harassing Somali American daycare centers in Columbus, Ohio as well. There were events in Philadelphia and Seattle.

I am watching a classic episode of Degrassi: The Next Generation and it dealt with Islamophobia, racism and cultural clashes. Two students destroyed cultural display by a young Muslim girl. Hazel, a Somali-Canadian student masquerading as Jamaican empathetizes with the girl and admits that she too faced the bigotry of being Muslim.

Ironic, this episode perfectly sums up the issues the U.S., Canada, Great Britain, France, Germany, Australia, Belgium, Russia, Netherlands and Poland face with the rise of nationalism, conservatism and scapegoating.

Or a meme where a picture of a turban wearing individual posing with a gun or a depiction of an Arab with the decapitated head of a white person.

Republicans, libertarians and conservatives have always been like this. It was never a closed door or a private chat.

They referred to Black people as monkeys and “the watermelon people” and mused about putting their political opponents in gas chambers. They talked about raping their enemies and driving them to suicide and lauded Republicans who they believed support slavery.

People, please do not resort to the levels of those who profit off the anger. The anger of right wing Americans in the wake of white nationalist Charlie Kirk's death has sparked a censorship and harassment campaign.

The right wing ain't got the smoke for the shooter, his family and the Utah state government allowing open carry on school campuses. They ain't got the smoke for the people who advocate violence against people perceived as threats to society.

They want to go after the vulnerable. Typical of these folks.

All the while, the rich are getting richer. Israel is still committing a genocide and war crimes from every angle. Russia is pushing further in Ukraine with Lithuania and Poland next on the country's agenda. China is becoming the superpower as they are moving on from exporting goods to the United States for other nations.

China is working on solving problems the United States failed at doing.

These idiots are at risk of a defamation lawsuit from the people they engage with.

In December 2025, Shirley published a video in which he alleged that Somali-run child care centers were defrauding the federal government. The video followed a federal investigation into Minnesota's Feeding Our Future nonprofit, in which individuals were convicted of diverting millions in funds for low-income children during the COVID-19 pandemic. Shirley's evidence was based on his assertion that he did not see any children at the facilities when he visited them. The video received over 116 million views on Twitter and 1.6 million views on YouTube.

The video was recorded by Shirley alongside a man named David, who had been previously directed by the Republican Party's Minnesota House of Representatives caucus to work on it. House speaker Lisa Demuth said that the caucus had been "working with Nick Shirley and agency whistleblowers" to hold Minnesota governor Tim Walz "accountable". Representative Harry Niska also said the party had provided information shared in Shirley's video.

Shirley showed in the video that one child care organization had an empty parking lot at the time he visited it. A man he interviewed in the street said that the organization was run by "Somalians" and that he had never seen a child at the facility. A manager for the organization later said that Shirley's video had been recorded when the facility was closed. He further said the organization employed 25 people and served about 50 children daily.

Police were present in two instances during the video after receiving multiple complaints of harassment. Shirley was escorted out of the building by responding officers enforcing trespassing ordinances on private property.

Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families Commissioner Tikki Brown said that all the active day care centers Shirley mentioned had been inspected by a state agent within the previous six months, and that in each case, children were present. She said that two of the centers Shirley visited had been closed at the time he arrived. At the same time KARE 11 reported that one of them, the Quality Learning Center (popularly misspelled as "Quality Learing Center"), was open and had children inside. According to state officials, that organization had decided to remain open a few days after it had told the state government that it was going to close permanently.

A KSTP investigation found that all the facilities Shirley visited had active licenses, except for two that "appear[ed] to be permanently closed". It also found that they had "between three and 10 safety violations", but did not mention any fraud or absence of children. The investigation found a "steady stream of kids and parents could be seen coming in and out of" Quality Learning Center. CNN confirmed that children were present at the facility.

A state investigation into Sweet Angel Child Care conducted on December 4, 2025, found no evidence of fraud. State records also report that Mako Childcare Center, which Shirley visited, had closed three years before his arrival.

Shirley claimed in his video that a child care facility named ABC Learning Center was empty. According to CBS News, security camera footage from that day showed multiple children arriving there with their parents. When presented with video evidence by CNN that children were arriving to a daycare center, Shirley dismissed it as the company "showing face".

Journalists from the Minnesota Star Tribune visited 10 child care centers featured in Shirley's video. They reported, with photographic evidence, that "about 50" children, including babies and preschoolers, were present at the Minnesota Child Care Center. They also found children present in all three other facilities that allowed them entry, while the remaining six were either closed at the time of their visit or did not allow them in.

Minnesota childcare workers Umi Hassan and Ahmed Hasan said that Shirley's video was politically motivated. Quality Learning Center manager Ibrahim Ali said the video was dishonest and asked him: "Are you trying to record that we're doing fraud, or are you trying to put the Somali name and fraud in the same sentence?"

Vice President JD Vance and Elon Musk shared Shirley's video. 

FBI Director Kash Patel stated that "the FBI believes this is just the tip of a very large iceberg. We will continue to follow the money and protect children, and this investigation very much remains ongoing." The federal government later announced that it had frozen all child care payments to Minnesota. Republican representative Tom Emmer said he was calling for "the denaturalization and deportation of every Somali engaged in fraud in Minnesota".

Walz, responding to the controversy in Shirley's video, said the Trump administration was "politicizing the issue to defund programs that help Minnesotans".

Democratic leader Richard Carlbom alleged that House Speaker Demuth had "admitted" that "Minnesota Republicans chose to partner with a YouTube conspiracy theorist". State Senator Erin Murphy expressed concern that Shirley's video put the state's child care industry at risk.

A number of Minnesota child care employees reported receiving threatening phone calls after the video's publication. KMSP reported that some day care workers felt harassed by the calls they received.[23] Washington state attorney general Nick Brown said that he had received reports of Somali-run "daycare providers being harassed and accused of fraud with little to no fact-checking" in his state.

A day care center in the state was reportedly vandalized soon after the video was shared on social media. Nasrulah Mohamed, who managed the facility, claimed documents related to children and employees were stolen. He attributed the incident to backlash from Shirley's video, which accused the company of fraud. Mohamed said that he had reported the incident to police and that the company continued to receive threatening messages after the attack.

Police in Columbus, Ohio have responded to at least three reports of people attempting to visit Somali-immigrant operated daycares. Mayor Andrew Ginther called it a "trend" of trespassing and harassment and warned residents to report any more unlawful behavior.

Again the pink washing. Those who support the Pro Palestinian movement who identify as LGBTQ are being attacked. They gaslight that community with the allegations of Palestine hates LGBTQ.

Well the United States is trying to push for laws to rollback rights for the LGBTQ. 

So what's your point?

Gov. Tim Walz, the former vice presidential nominee and current scapegoat for President Donald J. Trump is under fire for an allegation of allowing his state to committ fraud.

An allegation that Shirley is trying to incorporate on Somali-Americans and immigrants.

To aid the breakaway Somaliland and Israel, the noise needs to find a reason to target.

Ignoring the noise is what 2026 should be. We cannot be triggered by the elite. Minnesota Republicans who are trying to win back the U.S. senate and governor's mansion have a role in the Nick Shirley bullshit.

Lisa Demuth, the state House Speaker and Republican seeking the gubernatorial nomination had instructed Shirley to visit the daycare centers.

Knowing that most daycares and schools have automatic locks and prevention for strangers to enter without proper identification, Shirley was playing on the fear of Black, Brown, Muslim, immigrant and non speaking English as his way to make it about "fraud."

Mr. Mayor!

The day has come, the new mayor of New York City, Zohran Kwame Mamdani.

The 34 year old will have four years to prove the ney sayers wrong. The world is counting on Mamdani to shake up the establishment amd break barriers for more people to run.

As mayor of New York City, Mamdani is taking over one of the most unrelenting jobs in American politics with a promise to transform government on behalf of the city’s striving, struggling working class.

Mamdani, a Democrat, was sworn in at a decommissioned subway station below City Hall just after midnight, placing his hand on a Quran as he took his oath as the city’s first Muslim mayor.

After working part of the night in his new office, Mamdani returned to City Hall in a taxi cab around midday Thursday for a grander public inauguration where Vermont independent U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, one of the mayor’s political heroes, administered the oath for a second time.

“Beginning today, we will govern expansively and audaciously. We may not always succeed, but never will we be accused of lacking the courage to try,” Mamdani told a cheering crowd.

“To those who insist that the era of big government is over, hear me when I say this: No longer will City Hall hesitate to use its power to improve New Yorkers’ lives,” he said.

Throngs turned out in the frigid cold for an inauguration viewing party just south of City Hall on a stretch of Broadway known as the “Canyon of Heroes,” famous for its ticker-tape parades.

New York state attorney general Letitia James swore Mamandi on Wednesday.

Mamdani wasted little time getting to work after the event.

He revoked multiple executive orders issued by the previous administration since Sept. 26, 2024, the date federal authorities announced former Mayor Eric Adams had been indicted on corruption charges, which were later dismissed following intervention by the Trump administration.

Then he visited an apartment building in Brooklyn to announce he is revitalizing a city office dedicated to protecting tenants and creating two task forces focused on housing construction.

‘I will govern as a democratic socialist’

Throughout the daytime ceremony, Mamdani and other speakers hit on the theme that carried him to victory in the election: Using government power to lift up the millions of people who struggle with the city’s high cost of living.

Mamdani peppered his remarks with references to those New Yorkers, citing workers in steel-toed boots, halal cart vendors “whose knees ache from working all day” and cooks “wielding a thousand spices.”

“I was elected as a democratic socialist and I will govern as a democratic socialist,” Mamdani said. “I will not abandon my principles for fear of being deemed ‘radical.’”

Before administering the oath, Sanders told the crowd that most of the things Mamdani wants to do — including raising taxes on the rich — aren’t radical at all.

“In the richest country in the history of the world, making sure that people can live in affordable housing is not radical,” he told the crowd. “It is the right and decent thing to do.”

Mamdani was accompanied on stage by his wife, Rama Duwaji. Adams was also in attendance, sitting near another former mayor, Bill de Blasio.

Actor Mandy Patinkin, who recently hosted Mamdani to celebrate Hannukah, sang “Over the Rainbow” with children from an elementary school chorus. The invocation was given by Imam Khalid Latif, the director of the Islamic Center of New York City. Poet Cornelius Eady read an original poem called “Proof.”

In addition to being the city’s first Muslim mayor, Mamdani is also its first of South Asian descent and the first to be born in Africa. At 34, Mamdani is also the city’s youngest mayor in generations.

Free child care and bus rides

At the watch party on Broadway, onlookers stood shoulder to shoulder gazing up at several jumbotrons and singing and dancing to stave off the cold, with some passing out hot cocoa and hand warmers. Many described feeling as though they were witnessing history.

Among them was Ariel Segura, a 16-year-old Bronx resident, who had arrived five hours earlier to secure a place near the front of the crowd.

“I’m out here fan-girling a politician, it’s kind of crazy,” he said, wiping away tears as Mamdani concluded his speech. “Now it’s time to hold him accountable.”

In a campaign that helped make “affordability” a buzzword across the political spectrum, Mamdani ran on a focused platform that included promises of free child care, free buses, a rent freeze for about 1 million households and a pilot of city-run grocery stores.

Mamdani insisted in his inaugural address that he will not squander his opportunity to implement those policies.

“A moment like this comes rarely. Seldom do we hold such an opportunity to transform and reinvent. Rarer still is it the people themselves whose hands are on the levers of change. And yet we know that too often in our past, moments of great possibility have been promptly surrendered to small imagination and smaller ambition,” he said.

But he will also have to face the everyday responsibilities of running America’s largest city: handling trash and snow and rats, while getting blamed for subway delays and potholes.

In his speech, Mamdani acknowledged the task ahead, saying he knows many will be watching to see whether he can succeed.

“They want to know if the left can govern. They want to know if the struggles that afflict them can be solved. They want to know if it is right to hope again,” he said. “So, standing together with the wind of purpose at our backs, we will do something that New Yorkers do better than anyone else: We will set an example for the world.”

Kathy Hochul, Chuck Schumer and Eric Adams need to go somewhere. Lousy establishment Democrats and independents failed at messaging.

Quick rise to power

Mamdani was born in Kampala, Uganda, the son of filmmaker Mira Nair and Mahmood Mamdani, an academic and author. His family moved to New York City when he was 7, with Mamdani growing up in a post-9/11 city where Muslims didn’t always feel welcome. He became an American citizen in 2018.

He worked on political campaigns for Democratic candidates in the city before he sought public office himself, winning a state Assembly seat in 2020 to represent a section of Queens.

Now that he has taken office, Mamdani and his wife will depart their one-bedroom, rent stabilized apartment in the outer-borough to take up residence in the stately mayoral residence in Manhattan.

The new mayor inherits a city on the upswing, after years of slow recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Violent crime has dropped to pre-pandemic lows. Tourists are back. Unemployment, which soared during the pandemic years, is also back to pre-COVID levels.

Yet deep concerns remain about high prices and rising rents.

In opening remarks to the crowd, U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez praised New Yorkers for choosing “courage over fear.”

“We have chosen prosperity for the many over spoils for the few,” she said.

If a democratic socialist can be a senator or a mayor, the possibility of a governor or president can happen.

Dealing with Trump

During the mayoral race, President Donald Trump threatened to withhold federal funding from the city if Mamdani won and mused about sending National Guard troops to the city.

But Trump surprised supporters and foes alike by inviting the Democrat to the White House for what ended up being a cordial meeting in November.

“I want him to do a great job and will help him do a great job,” Trump said.

Still, tensions between the two leaders are almost certain to resurface, given their deep policy disagreements, particularly over immigration.

Several speakers at Thursday’s inauguration criticized the Trump administration’s move to deport more immigrants and expressed hope that Mamdani’s City Hall would be an ally to those the president has targeted.

Mamdani also faces skepticism and opposition from some members of the city’s Jewish community over his criticisms of Israel’s government.

Still, Mamdani supporters in Thursday’s crowd expressed optimism he’d be a unifying force.

“There are moments where everyone in New York comes together, like when the Mets won the World Series in ’86,” said Mary Hammann, 64, a musician with the Metropolitan Opera. “This feels like that — just colder.”

White men are proving to be major disasters in many of these countries. The United States, Russia, Israel, Canada, Australia, France, Germany, Austria, Great Britain, Italy, Greece, Vatican City, Monaco, Denmark, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and every other nation led by a white man or woman has led the world to endless wars, chaos, poverty, punch down politics, genocide and disease.

The rest of the world is pillaged of its resources, its sovereignty and right to exist.

The U.S. dollar is on a major decline as we speak but don't tell that to President Donald J. Trump.

That's why the affordability crisis exist. Had the U.S. stopped aiding Israel and Ukraine, fighting these proxy wars in the Global South, Asia Pacific and coalition of BRICS, we wouldn't be in this mess.

Yeah, Trump in his first term, former president Joe Biden in his only term and now this second term from Trump led to the cost of living skyrocketing. A paycheck is worthless now. The weekly pay cannot sustain the price of groceries, rent, insurance, a doctor's visit, a vacation or child care.

Mamdani won on tackling at least some of these major issues.

If you lose your Airpods, Samsung Buds or Skullcandy earbuds, just replace them. Do not try to retrieve them in a dangerous working environment.

A Martins Ferry, Ohio employee was too distracted. Her earbud fell into a hot oil dispenser and she literally reached inside to retrieve it.

She ended up suffering severe burns on her hand. She was rushed to WVU Medicine in Wheeling.

It could be a termination or a just an unfortunate incident, but trust me, I bet she won't do that again.

This happened on Tuesday and the local junk food media for the Wheeling metro area have no other information at the time.

If an earbud gets into grease, first power it down immediately and gently wipe off the surface with a dry cloth to remove as much grease as possible, then use a slightly alcohol-dampened cotton swab (avoiding mesh) for the exterior, and for the speaker mesh, use a dry brush or swab to dislodge it, or try soaking removable tips in soapy water; for serious internal grease, absorbent materials like kitty litter or baby powder can help draw it out over time. 

  • Power Off: Immediately turn off the earbud to prevent electrical damage.
    • Wipe Exterior: Use a microfiber cloth to wipe off visible grease.
    • Alcohol/Wipe: Use a slightly damp cotton swab with isopropyl alcohol or an alcohol wipe on the hard plastic parts, avoiding the speaker mesh.
    • Dry Completely: Let it air dry thoroughly.
