Canadians are tried of Israel meddling in their affairs. They passed a law that halts military aid to countries engaging in illegal war crimes. |
We are seeing cracks in North America's support of the Israeli regime.
The Canadian parliament passed a non biding halt to Israeli aid for military funds. The lawmakers in Ottawa became the first North American power to tell Israel to ceasefire or pay the price.
Canada has not approved new arms exports permits to Israel since Jan. 8 and this freeze will continue until Ottawa can ensure the weapons are used properly, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Wednesday.
Export permits that were approved before Jan. 8 remain in effect, she said in an emailed statement.
The political survival of the minority Liberal government depends on support from the left-leaning New Democrats, who are pressuring for a tougher line with Israel over the Gaza conflict.
"Canada has one of the most rigorous export permit regimes in the world. There are no open permits for exports of lethal goods to Israel," Joly said.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau privately said Netanyahu is a headache. |
"Since January 8th, the government has not approved new arms export permits to Israel and this will continue until we can ensure full compliance with our export regime."
Canadian law bars the export of weapons if they could be used in "a serious violation of international humanitarian law" or "serious acts of violence against women and children".
Canada's parliament passed a non-binding motion on Monday on the Gaza conflict which called on the government to "cease the further authorization and transfer of arms exports to Israel".
Canada, a minor supplier of arms to Israel, last week said it had paused non-lethal military exports since January because of the rapidly evolving situation on the ground.
Earlier this month pro-Palestinian and human rights advocates filed a lawsuit to stop Ottawa allowing the export of military goods and technology to Israel.
Since the deadly Hamas attacks on Oct 7, Canada had authorized at least C$28.5 million ($21 million) worth of new permits, more than the value of such permits allowed in the previous year, they said.
President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are feeling the pressure and it is big. Already, members of Congress are under extreme pressure to do something. They continue to push for a bipartisan ban on TikTok but it has backfired. The House passed the bill to ban TikTok if ByteDance doesn't sell it to a U.S. company. Former Trump Secretary of Treasury Steve Mnuchin has interest in it. Mnuchin is a staunch Zionist who wants Israeli influence on the app. The Senate has no appetite for the bill but said if it passes Biden will sign it into law. Young voters and small business owners are pissed that Congress has more time to ban social media instead of fixing America's crumbling roads, making the economy better, lowering inflation and working. More people are opposed to giving aid to Israel.
Democrats have a 52% of retaking the House of Representatives.
Republicans have a 57% chance of retaking the Senate.
President Joe Biden has a 46% chance of winning reelection.
Former president Donald J. Trump has a 48% chance of winning.
Third party candidates will contribute 6% of the election.
52% Americans support giving aid to Israel.
57% Americans support giving aid to Ukraine.
Biden has went so far as to calling out Israel but has not stopped the military and financial aid. Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has called for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to step down. Israel predictably reacted. They got upset and demanded Schumer to apologize and told him to stay out of their political affairs.
Yet, Schumer is still a staunchly pro Israel lawmaker and he still is giving our taxpayer money to that damn country.
Cry more!
Holding these lawmakers accountable is not just a pledge, but a promise. You need to learn who represents your community. Your local community member, your school board member, your mayor, your state representative, your state senator, your governor, your U.S. Representative, your U.S. Senator and the president need to be held accountable for their actions.
We need to put pressure on Republicans and Democrats to do something to improve everyone's lives.
Keep pressure on them with Israel.
Israel must be held accountable for war crimes and the U.S. must end its aid. Our taxpayer money should not help Israel any further.
They are feeling it. Democrats know the risk of supporters being turned off by their policies. They know that Biden is under extreme pressure to do something. Arab Americans, Muslim and young voters have vowed to never back Biden putting his reelection chances in danger.

Let them know that "thoughts and prayers," "hearts going to" and "good guys with guns" are no longer acceptable and you want legislation to curb gun violence. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel. Let them know that bans on TikTok are bans on free speech. You are tired of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-semitic or in support of terrorism. We have bigger issues at home and our tax dollars should solve the housing crisis, lowering food prices, fixing roads, bridges, helping reinvest in struggling urban and rural communities. We have hospitals closing, big box retailers leaving communities and television programs dying. There are bigger issues in the country than Israel. You want an immediate ceasefire and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and lawmakers avoid influence from lobbyists.
