Actor and comedian Louie Anderson has passed away. The entertainer is also a game show host and panelist. As many news outlets are reporting, the comedian has passed away at the age of 68.
He is best known for his blue collar comedy, sharp witts and honest opinion about his life. He was admitted in a Las Vegas hospital after being received cancer treatment. The Associated Press reported that he was hospitalized for cancer for non-Hodgkin lymphoma and was resting comfortably.
His publicist confirmed that he passed away on Friday. Variety and AP said that he died from complications from cancer.
Anderson got his break when he did his first performance on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson.
He would appear in the Eddie Murphy/John Landis movie "Coming to America" and its Amazon/Paramount sequel "Coming 2 America."
He also starred and voiced the titular character of his animated sitcom "Life with Louie" which was based on his life growing up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He earned two Daytime Emmy awards for a performer in an animated program, as he voiced an 8-year old version of himself. He also had a sitcom on CBS called "The Louie Show" but it was cancelled after six episodes.
This photo is very sad now. RIP Bob Saget and RIP Louie Anderson. Both good friends that will be missed. pic.twitter.com/DLJ8Ntt7LN
>He went on to host "Family Feud" after the series was cancelled and previous host Ray Combs committed suicide.
Anderson hosted the series for three years before he was replaced with Richard Karn.
He also appeared on the FX comedy series "Baskets" which premiered in 2016, co-starring Zach Galifianakis character's mother for the show's run and won a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series in 2016. He was nominated twice in 2017 and 2018.
He also appeared as a panelist on Byron Allen's revival of "Funny You Should You Ask" with fellow comedians, Jon Lovitz, Jodi Miller and Whitney Cummings.
Anderson was the second youngest of 11. He was born to Ora Z. Prouty (a descendant of The Mayflower) and Louis William Anderson.
He was briefly married to his high-school sweetheart in 1985. He also was a victim of blackmail.
A man who demanded money from Anderson. He threatened to expose him as gay for an incident in 1993 where he sexually propositioned him at a casino. The entertainer had paid hush money to the man.
His lawyers and publicist notified the law and he was arrested shortly after.
One of Washed Up 45's closest allies is rocker/actor Meat Loaf. It was reported he passed away from complications from COVID-19. He was not vaccinated. The entertainer who most recent appearances were on Celebrity Apprentice and Fox was 74 years old.
Born Michael Lee Aday in Dallas, Texas, the entertainer best known for his powerful, wide-ranging voice and theatrical live shows. He was good friends with the former president and his three children.
The larger-than-life singer whose bombastic rock opera "Bat Out of Hell" is one of the best-selling albums of all time, has died at age 74, according to a statement on his verified Facebook page.
"Our hearts are broken to announce that the incomparable Meat Loaf passed away tonight with his wife Deborah by his side," the statement read. "Daughters Pearl and Amanda and close friends have been with him throughout the last 24 hours."
"Had So Much Fun With Meatloaf When We Did "Dead Ringer,"" Cher tweeted. "Am Very Sorry For His Family,Friends,& Fans. Am I imagining It, or Are Amazing Ppl In The Arts Dying every other Day.
Had So Much Fun With Meatloaf When We Did “Dead Ringer”. Am Very Sorry For His Family,Friends,& Fans. Am I imagining It, or Are Amazing Ppl In The Arts Dying every other Day⁉️ 😢
We are sad to report the death of Michael Lee Aday (better known as Meat Loaf), who has passed away at age 74. The “Bat Out of Hell” singer and “Rocky Horror” alumni’s cause of death is reported to be complications caused from Covid-19. #ripmeatloafpic.twitter.com/vV82BYiRLD
Meat Loaf's two biggest albums -- 1977's "Bat Out of Hell" and the 1993 follow-up "Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell" -- produced numerous hit singles, including "Paradise by the Dashboard Light," "Two Out of Three Ain't Bad" and "I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)."
He also won a Grammy in 1993 for Best Solo Rock Vocal Performance for the song "I'd Do Anything for Love."
Meat Loaf also appeared in several television shows and films, including the cult classic "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," "Fight Club" and "Wayne's World."
The singer acknowledged physical problems had affected his ability to perform. But in November, he posted on Facebook that he'd had four back surgeries and would be back in the studio in the new year.
"The back surgeries hurt everything. Before the back surgeries I was still trying to do shows, that's when some of you saw or heard of me collapsing on stage and finally stopping the tour in the UK. I couldn't hit high notes because of back pain. Not a slight back pain. Pain that would bring you to your knees," he wrote.
In 2016, Meat Loaf collapsed at a concert in the Canadian city of Edmonton and was admitted to the hospital. The cause was dehydration, a spokesperson said at the time.
The omicron variant is more contagious, but is considered less serious. Cases of breakthrough infections are increasing. Thanks to those who refuse to get vaccinated, the coronavirus is mutating and its becoming more infectious. Those who got vaccinated are getting mild symptoms.
Those who are unvaccinated are either experiencing mild to severe symptoms. They are overwhelming the hospitals.
If only Americans got vaccinated, we would have been back to normal. Alas, they wanna fuck around and now they're going to find out. Matter of fact, we all are going to find out.
Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.
President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.
But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war.
Meat Loaf encouraged Washed Up 45 to run for president.
With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
We came so far only have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.
The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.
Pathetic.
The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.
Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19.
If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.
Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

Tiffany Haddish and Kanye West have known mental issues.
Mental health affects millions. Tiffany Haddish and Kanye West (known as Ye) had some episodes this month. The actress/comedian was arrested in Atlanta for driving under the influence. Ye is under investigation for allegedly assaulting a fan and he wrote a diss aimed at comedian Pete Davidson.
Note: Tiffany Haddish, Kanye West, The Game and Pete Davidson confirm that have bipolar disorder.
TMZ reported that Tiffany Haddish is facing a DUI charge after cops say she was dozing in the driver's seat of her vehicle early Friday morning in Georgia ... TMZ has learned.
Law enforcement tells us Tiffany was arrested by Peachtree City PD officers around 4 AM ET. Although she was getting booked for DUI, the comedian still managed to smile for the camera when cops snapped her mug shot.
Cops were responding to a call for a driver who'd fallen asleep at the wheel. Officers had a description of the vehicle and were on the lookout for it when they spotted Tiffany pulling into a neighborhood.
They stopped her and arrested her for DUI and improper stopping on a roadway. Cops believe she'd smoked marijuana.
Tiffany was only in police custody for a few hours. According to records, obtained by TMZ, she posted $1,666 to bond out of jail around 6:30 AM.
We've reached out to Tiffany's reps for comment, but no word back yet.
Obviously, it's no excuse for driving impaired ... but we do know Tiffany's been dealing with a lot of loss lately. She broke up with her longtime boyfriend Common. Sources connected tell us her grandmother, who raised her, recently died -- as did her dog, and her close friends Bob Saget and producer Carl Craig.
The Game and Ye paid homage to Eazy E by doing Eazy.
The controversial media mogul/rapper and former presidential candidate is a supporter of Washed Up 45. He has known mental health issues. He and his estranged wife Kim Kardashian are feuding. The social media socialite and mogul is dating comedian Pete Davidson. Kanye West is livid about it. Davidson also has mental health issues and has previously dated high profile entertainers like Kate Beckinsale, Ariana Grande and most recently Kardashian.
Ye and The Game recorded a single called "Eazy" and in the single the mogul threatened to beat Davidson's ass.
[Chorus: The Game & Michel'le]
(He was once a thug from around the way)
My life was never (Eazy)
My life was never (Eazy)
[Verse 1: The Game]
Started in my Cutlass clutchin' heat like it's an open oven
Puffin' chronic, Puff and Biggie out the window, speaker subbin'
Run into the Crips, it ain't no discussion
Bullet wounds drenched in Hennessy and teaspoons of Robitussin
Head up faze, got a few concussion, yeah
Compton's amazed, Dr. Dre percussion
God, please grant my nigga eternal life, we need the beats
Aftermath wherе you fall asleep, you do not eat
And my belly is full, gorilla ridin' the bull
Banana clips in thе pool, swan dive in Clase Azul
The opps, I'm on they ass, grandmama whoopings in school
This Wilmington and Brazil where niggas die in they jewels
Too many Problems, too many YGs
So many ties to dollar signs, easy to end up on E
I got shot up like Columbine, the Crips descended on me
Sign my name on the dotted line, that was vengeance on beats
This is the way
[Chorus: The Game & Michel'le]
(He was once a thug from around the way)
My life was never (Eazy)
My life was never (Eazy)
[Refrain: Kanye West]
There it is, there it was
Don't interrupt just because
It's no love
Shoulder shrug (Shrug)
[Verse 2: Kanye West]
How I ain't bring nothin' to the table when I'm the table?
I'ma turn up the music, wake up the neighbors
I'ma get that "Thug Life" tatted 'cross the navel
This is how I am in real life, not just on cable
"Mr. Narcissist," tell me 'bout my arrogance
No more counselin', I don't negotiate with therapists
God Ye, wanna let God in?
But tonight, I guess I'll let my pride win
Cousin Dre sent me scriptures, helped me see life better
Nigga, we havin' the best divorce ever
If we go to court, we'll go to court together
Matter of fact, pick up your sis, we'll go to Kourt's together
I watched four kids for like five hours today
I wear these Yeezy boots everywhere, even in the shower today
I got love for the nannies, but real family is better
The cameras watch the kids, y'all stop takin' the credit
Noncustodial dad, I bought the house next door
What you think the point of really bein' rich for?
When you give 'em everything, they only want more
Boujee and unruly, y'all need to do some chores
Rich-ass kids, this ain't yo' mama house
Climb on your brother's shoulders, get that Top Ramen out
God saved me from that crash
Just so I can beat Pete Davidson's ass (Who?)
And my new bitch bad
I know Illuminati mad
This that New-minati, bitch
This that two Bugatti rich
This that "God did this"
Only God did this
[Refrain: Kanye West]
There it is, there it was
Don't interrupt, just because
Ain't no love, shoulder shrug
Won't He do it? Yes He does
Won't He do it? Yes He does
Won't He do it?
[Chorus: Kanye West & Michel'le]
My life was never (Eazy)
This next one gon' be (Eazy)
[Outro: Michel'le]
(He was once a thug from around the way)
(He was once a thug from around the way, easy)
(He was—, he was—)
(He was—, he was—)
(He was once a—, once a—)
(Thug from a—, thug from a—, from around the way)
Then of course, the rapper is accused of assaulting a fan. The fan probably was trolling Ye over the Davidson drama.
Cops are investigating Kanye West for allegedly punching an autograph seeker, and TMZ has obtained this video showing the man laid out on the street as Kanye rages at people who apparently work for him.
Pete Davidson isn't phased by Ye's antics. He's dating a celebrity.
As we've reported, the alleged attack went down around 3 AM in DTLA, outside the Soho Warehouse -- and Ye was absolutely livid. When the video starts he's screaming, "get away from me" at a woman who's desperately trying to calm him down. She also says, "I am your family," but he continued storming away in anger. We're told the woman is Ye's cousin.
Witnesses tell us this was just seconds after Kanye allegedly punched the guy twice -- once in the head, and once in the neck -- and when the autograph seeker went down, his head struck the ground hard.
We're told Kanye had asked the small group of people outside the building not to take photos and said something about them not understanding what he's going through right now. When someone replied that it's okay, we all go through family stuff ... that's when Ye allegedly unloaded the 2 punches.
We're told Kanye had headed downtown after a late-night session in a Hollywood recording studio -- and a separate video shows he was already pissed off when he left there around 2:30 AM.
Ye was yelling at 2 women about something ... it's hard to make out, but they appear to be the same women who were with him downtown when the alleged attack went down.
The alleged victim refused medical treatment at the scene, but we're told he's now getting checked out at an urgent care -- and as we reported, LAPD is investigating Kanye for battery.
The suspects is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The conservative Democrat is now in the feds crosshairs. The asshole who believes that Vice President Kamala Harris isn't doing enough at the U.S.-Mexican border confirms that the FBI came a knocking at his door. He on television talking smack about the vice president and President Joe Biden. All the while he doing corrupt shit.
Rep. Karen Cuellar (D-TX) is the Democrat who sided with Washed Up 45 when it came to spending our tax dollars to build a stupid border wall along the scenic Texas landscape.
FBI agents searched Cuellar's home on Wednesday as they conducted what an agency spokeswoman called “court-authorized law enforcement activity.”
The motive and scope of the search was not immediately known. But a reporter for The Monitor of McAllen, Texas, which first reported the operation, reported from the scene that more than a dozen federal agents were seen passing in and out of Cuellar’s home bearing cases and other items.
The 6am knock.
“The FBI was present in the vicinity of Windridge Drive and Estate Drive in Laredo conducting court-authorized law enforcement activity,” spokeswoman Rosanne Hughes said. “The FBI cannot provide further comment on an ongoing investigation.”
Cuellar’s office issued a brief statement that did not directly address the location or nature of the search.
“Congressman Cuellar will fully cooperate in any investigation. He is committed to ensuring that justice and the law are upheld,” the statement read.
The statement, like the FBI, shed no light on what agents were seeking.
Since 2004, Cuellar has represented a district that extends from the U.S. border with Mexico near McAllen to Laredo, and north to San Antonio’s eastern outskirts. The Democrat has a seat on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.
The state prosecutor who became a national figure in the aftermath of Freddie Gray's death is facing a state and federal sandwich. The city of Baltimore state attorney Marilyn Mosby is being criminally charged with perjury, falsifying documents and misuse of CARES Act funding on her Florida homes.
Mosby gain national recognition for charging six Baltimore police officers with the death of Freddie Gray. The incident happened in 2015 when three officers (one plain clothes and two bicycle officers) allegedly knocked Gray into a wall shattering his spine. The cops would pick up a screaming Gray and shackle him into a police van. The police van driver did not hear the cries of pain and gave him a "rough ride". The two uniformed cops tasked with placing Gray in holding failed to render aid and failed to realize that he was critically injured.
Gray was taken to a local hospital with the injuries severe enough to be permanent disability. He would end up dying and it triggered unrest in the city. His death was settled for over $6 million.
Mosby sought to have the six cops arrested and convicted. It was the goddamn police union and white grand juries that allowed these dirty cops to walk free without any accountability. Gray was arrested for unlawfully possessing a switchblade knife.
Mosby was vilified by the far right and police union. With crime being on the rise and this goddamn pandemic ongoing, the far right has gone to war with the so-called "Woke D.A.s" in the country.
Besides criticism of her case against the officers charged in Gray's death, Mosby has faced questions for her frequent speaking engagements and private businesses. Though she maintained she did nothing wrong, Mosby asked city Inspector General Isabel Mercedes Cumming to investigate. Cumming found Mosby was out of town for 144 workdays in 2018 and 2019, did not report 15 out-of-town trips to the Board of Estimates and used LLCs she claimed to be dormant as tax write-offs. City Solicitor Jim Shea issued his own assessment, finding that administrative rules are unclear and that Mosby did nothing wrong in regards to her travel.
Days later, it was revealed that lawyers who responded to the inspector general's report on Mosby's behalf were paid by Mosby's campaign, a possible violation of state law.
Mosby and her husband are the subjects of an active federal investigation. Investigators have sought a wide range of business and campaign records. Mosby, a Democrat elected to her post in 2015, is accused of falsely claiming twice to have suffered a work-related financial hardship from COVID-19 in order to request early withdrawals totaling $90,000 from her city employee retirement account.
Florida land records revealed Mosby bought two homes in Florida weeks before the federal investigation came to light.
In October 2020, a $45,000 tax lien was filed against the property of Marilyn and Nick Mosby for three years of unpaid federal taxes (2014, 2015, and 2016). Nick Mosby said he has been "in ongoing conversations with the IRS" about resolving this issue. That November, he said the issue was "settled".
City council president Nick Mosby also got served a federal sandwich.
Mosby used the money she received – $36,000 in May 2020 and $45,000 on Dec. 31 of that year – toward down payments on vacation homes in Kissimmee, Florida, and Long Boat Key, Florida.
The two counts of perjury stem from Mosby’s false statements of coronavirus-related financial duress at a time when she was earning a gross annual salary of nearly $248,000 in full, the indictment asserted.
On January 13, 2022, she was indicted by a federal grand jury on a perjury charge alleging she falsely claimed COVID-related financial hardship in requesting one-time withdrawals of $40,000 and $50,000 of her deferred compensation funds under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act, known as the CARE Act. The CARE Act describes specific criteria for qualifying withdrawals, such as a reduction of income due to a COVID-related layoff or due to quarantining, whereas she reportedly had continued to draw her full salary throughout the period, and her salary had actually increased. She additionally was accused of making false statements in mortgage applications for her Florida home and condo by failing to disclose her federal tax liabilities. There are four counts in the indictment.
There was no immediate comment from Mosby, her office or any legal representative about the indictment.
If convicted, she could face up to five years for each of two perjury counts and decades in the iron college on charges of making false mortgage applications, according to a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Maryland.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
The lead singer of the 1950s harmony group the Five Satins and composer of the classic doo-wop ballad "In the Still of the Night," has passed away at the age of 85.
He passed away on Jan. 13 after a brief illness, according to his music manager, Pat Marafiote. Parris and his wife Emma lived in Hamden, Connecticut, not far from his native New Haven.
Parris was in his late teens, and on military guard duty in Philadelphia when thoughts of his girlfriend inspired an early rock standard. Parris and his fellow Satins recorded the song in the basement of St. Bernadette Church in New Haven, the finished track featuring a dreamlike saxophone solo by Vinny Mazzetta and Parris' soulful baritone playing off the backing of chants of "shoo-doo-shooby-doo."
The Five Satins had the hit In the Still of the Night.
Released in 1956, "In the Still of the Night" only reached No. 24 on the Billboard pop charts but became a multimillion seller through reissues and appearances on compilation and soundtrack albums and now helps define an era of harmony groups along with such favorites as the Penguins' "Earth Angel" and the Cadillacs' "Speedoo." The Satins' song (the last word sometimes spelled "Nite" to avoid confusion with Cole Porter's "In the Still of The Night") was a favorite for oldies radio stations and was featured in films like "Dirty Dancing" and "The Irishman."
The Beach Boys, Boyz II Men and Debbie Gibson are among the performers who covered it.
Formed as the Scarlets while Parris was in high school, the Five Satins had minor hits with "To the Aisles" and "Shadows" among others and Parris continued to tour over the following decades even as the Satins' popularity had faded. During his tours he had singers come and go. But he still performed all the way until his passing.
The Five Satins were elected into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame in 2003.
Seven years later, Rolling Stone Magazine ranked "In the Still of the Night" at No. 90 on its list of the 500 greatest songs.
The first press conference of the year and the junk food media is laser focused on the failures of President Joe Biden. Instead of talking about the unemployment rate being at record lows, gas prices going down, store shelves being stocked, people working and a steady economy, they are focused on the culture wars, the conspiracy theories and the coronavirus pandemic.
Even a handful of Republicans are touting the 25th Amendment. For what reason should they invoke the 25th Amendment? Because the president stutters or misspeaks.
Gee fucking wiz.
These idiots in the Republican Party are so hell bent on "owning the libs." But wait until the next natural disaster, the coronavirus killing their family member, they losing their job because of the "freedom" of capitalism, and all you're hear it "I need help!"
The president celebrates his first year in office. That first year in office was filled with headaches from white nationalist Republicans (plus their 19 enablers of color), stalling from two white nationalist Democrats and the junk food media agitators.
The Republicans have no actual plans on how to improve the lives of Americans. All they have right now is the culture wars and the "Let's Go Brandon" nonsense.
Pres. Biden called out Republicans after being asked if he ‘overpromised’ things to Americans: ‘I did not anticipate that there’d be such a stalwart effort to make sure … President Biden didn’t get anything done’ pic.twitter.com/Qf3w25Ntlu
Store shelves are empty, prices are soaring, real wages are declining, American cities are engulfed in violence, the border is controlled by the cartels & parents are treated as terrorists while actual terrorists go free. When do the Dems seriously consider the 25th Amendment? https://t.co/ZlsbJ2DA1h
Tim Scott, Susan Collins & Rob Portman traveled to Selma with John Lewis on the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday but are going to filibuster the John R. Lewis Act tonight
Booker: Don’t lecture me about Jim Crow. I know this is not 1965. That’s what makes me so outraged. It’s 2022 and they’re blatantly removing more polling places from the counties where Black and Latinos are overrepresented pic.twitter.com/cLkIfmMRIP
Biden wants to hit the reset button on getting things done.
As the Senate is posed to defeat the John Lewis Voting Rights Bill and the For the People's Act, the Democrats in the senate are fumed at the two white nationalists within their party. They refuse to eliminate the filibuster. The Senate is split with 48 Democrats, two independents who caucus with the Democrats and the 50 obstructionists in the Republican Party.
Five members (Karen Romney of Utah, Karen Collins of Maine, Karen Portman of Ohio, Karen Murkowski of Alaska and Karen Moore Capito of West Virginia) with dishonorable mentions of Karen Burr of North Carolina, Karen Sasse of Nebraska and Karen Cassidy of Louisiana aren't willing to back the agenda because of fear of Washed Up 45.
Biden was asked some really dumb ass questions. One was about his cognitive health. Another about who will replace Vice President Kamala Harris.
It was really two hours of answering bullshit from the press.
Biden was willing to go more into the questions and answers.
One woman was close to being the first signed talent to the NBA. Before there was the WNBA, it was NBA. She was called the "Queen of Basketball."
It would have been a historical accomplishment had Lusia Harris signed to the league.
Harris, who became the only woman to be officially drafted by an NBA team and scored the first points in women’s basketball history at the Olympics, died Tuesday, her family announced. She was 66.
“We are deeply saddened to share the news that our angel, matriarch, sister, mother, grandmother, Olympic medalist, The Queen of Basketball, Lusia Harris has passed away unexpectedly today in Mississippi,” the family said in a statement. “The recent months brought Ms. Harris great joy, including the news of the upcoming wedding of her youngest son and the outpouring of recognition received by a recent documentary that brought worldwide attention to her story.”
Harris, who died in her native Mississippi, was drafted by the New Orleans Jazz in the seventh round in 1977, but didn’t try out for the team because she was pregnant at the time. The San Francisco Warriors tried to draft Denise Long in 1969, but the NBA blocked it because she didn’t meet the criteria to be drafted — in part because of her gender.
All hail the Queen. Lucy Harris was a basketball goddess.
Harris helped Delta State University win three straight national titles in the 1970s and earned a silver medal for the United States at the Montreal Olympics in 1976.
Harris was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 1992 as the first Black woman to earn that honor. She was later enshrined into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame in 1999.
“She will be remembered for her charity, for her achievements both on and off the court, and the light she brought to her community, the state of Mississippi, her country as the first woman ever to score a basket in the Olympics, and to women who play basketball around the world,” the statement said.
Harris averaged 25.9 points and 14.4 rebounds at Delta State, lifting the team to a 109-6 record during her time there. She’s still the school’s all-time leader in scoring (2,981 points) and rebounding (1,662).
Harris was named to the U.S. women’s team in 1975. The following year, women’s basketball made its Olympic debut and Harris scored the first points in the first game of the tournament.
She was the subject of a 2021 short film titled “The Queen of Basketball” that detailed her career.
An iconic fashion blogger and journalist passed away.
André Leon Talley, a towering and highly visible figure of the fashion world who made history as a rare Black editor in an overwhelmingly white industry, has died. He was 73.
The death Tuesday of Talley, the influential former creative director and editor at large of Vogue magazine, was confirmed on his Instagram page early Wednesday. No details were given as to his cause of death, but he was known to have had health struggles in recent years. Vogue said in its obituary that he died of a heart attack.
Dressed in his signature sweeping capes or colorful caftans, Talley was a regular in the front row of fashion shows in New York and Europe for decades, or atop the famous steps at the Met Gala. At 6-feet-6 inches tall, he cut an imposing and unforgettable figure; a Vogue staffer called him “the pharoah of fabulosity,” the magazine wrote.
But he was celebrated even more by fashion insiders for his deep knowledge, amassed over decades of devotion to the craft that began in his youth in the Jim Crow-era South, when he would walk to the campus of Duke University, where his grandmother cleaned dorms, to read Vogue.
In a 2013 Vanity Fair spread titled “The Eyeful Tower,” Talley was described as “perhaps the industry’s most important link to the past.” Designer Tom Ford told the magazine Talley was “one of the last great fashion editors who has an incredible sense of fashion history. … He can see through everything you do to the original reference, predict what was on your inspiration board.”
Talley was also a familiar figure to TV audiences, serving as a judge on “America’s Next Top Model” and appearing in cameos in the “Sex and the City” movie and on “Empire.”
Among the many celebrities offering condolences on Wednesday was TV personality Whoopi Goldberg, who said on Twitter that his death came “just in time for the front line at fashion week in Heaven.”
Anna Wintour mourns the loss of her right hand man.
Also full of praise was Kerry Washington, who wrote on Instagram: “Oh Andre! Heaven is not ready for you darling!!!!!! The whole afterlife is going to be just too fabulous now ... You will shine so brightly from the heavens that we will know what true stardom looks like.”
Designer Diane von Furstenberg paid tribute on Instagram: “No one saw the world in a more glamorous way than you did … no one was grander and more soulful than you were.” Bette Midler tweeted: “He was such a force, & believed in the magic of Fashion & its illusions with all his being. His life was a saga of great highs, great lows, the dramatic, the ridiculous, and the endless pursuit of beauty.” Marc Jacobs was one of many who credited Talley with championing his career. “You and your passions were larger than life,” the designer wrote on Instagram.
And Edward Enninful of British Vogue, the first Black editor in chief of any edition of Vogue, wrote simply: “Without you, there would be no me. Thank you for paving the way.”
In his 2003 memoir, “A.L.T.: A Memoir,” Talley focused on two of the most important women in his life: his maternal grandmother, Bennie Frances Davis and the late, legendary fashion editor Diana Vreeland.
“Bennie Frances Davis may have looked like a typical, African American domestic worker to many of the people who saw her on an ordinary day, but I, who could see her soul, could also see her secret: that even while she wore a hair net and work clothes to scrub toilets and floors, she wore an invisible diadem,” he wrote.
Born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Durham, North Carolina, Talley worked various jobs before arriving in New York in the 1970s, soon meeting Vreeland and striking up a friendship that lasted until her death in 1989. After stints including Interview magazine and Women’s Wear Daily, he was hired at Vogue in 1983 by Editor in Chief Anna Wintour and was appointed creative director in 1988.
Late in life he had a public falling out with Wintour, after he released another memoir in 2020, “The Chiffon Trenches,” that included behind-the-scenes tales about Wintour and other fashion figures like the late designer Karl Lagerfeld.
“The loss of André is felt by so many of us today,” Wintour said in Vogue’s obituary. “The designers he enthusiastically cheered on every season, and who loved him for it; the generations he inspired to work in the industry, seeing a figure who broke boundaries while never forgetting where he started from; those who knew fashion, and Vogue, simply because of him...
“Yet it’s the loss of André as my colleague and friend that I think of now,” Wintour said, calling it “immeasurable.”
Talley told The Associated Press in a 2003 interview about having worked in the late 60s as a park ranger in Washington and in Maryland, where he told visitors about slaves who built Fort Washington and dressed up like a Civil War soldier.
In that interview, he opined that of all types of apparel, he considered shoes the most important.
“You can tell everything about a person by what he puts on his feet,” Talley told the AP. “If it’s a man and you can see the reflection of his face on the top of his black shoes, it means they’ve been polished to perfection. … If it’s a woman and she’s wearing shoes that hurt … well, shoes that hurt are very fashionable!”
But, asked what he considered the ultimate luxury item, it was not shoes, but rather “a clean, fabulous bed with white Egyptian cotton sheets.”
His was honest about longtime struggles with his weight. Asked whether fashion and food went together, he noted that “Food is not important in the fashion world, where you are supposed to look like an asparagus.
“In my world, it’s about butter poundcake, and fried chicken, and potato salad and hot biscuits. … It’s hard to break away from that for a lettuce sandwich.”
With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back.

It frustrates us that the Senate can't pass Build Back Better.
Another Democrat heads for the doors. The Democrats control of the House of Representatives razor thin majority is at risk. Despite the House passing Build Back Better, the Senate keeps blocking it. Two white nationalist Democrats refuse to buck the stalling.
Rep. Jerry McNerney (D-CA) announced Tuesday he will not seek reelection in California's newly created 9th Congressional District.
I am very proud of the many accomplishments that my staff and I have achieved in Congress, including the creation of a major veteran’s health center facility in San Joaquin County, providing outstanding help for constituents with federal agencies...
"I will keep working for the people of my district throughout the remainder of my term and look forward to new opportunities to continue to serve," McNerney said on Twitter.
McNerney, a Democrat, has served in Congress since 2007 as representative of a Stockton-based district, which includes parts of Contra Costa and Sacramento counties.
Rep. Josh Harder (D-CA), who serves District 10, announced Tuesday that he will run in the newly created District 9.
District 10 includes Stanislaus County and part of San Joaquin County. Harder has represented District 10 since 2019 following a narrow win over Republican incumbent Jeff Denham.
McNerney was elected to Congress in 2006 in a flip of a long-held Republican seat, defeating former Tracy representative and then-House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo in District 11.
In December, California's redistricting commission reformulated District 9 to include much of San Joaquin County but exclude Lathrop and some unincorporated areas of south Tracy. Harder's District 10 will be split between the new District 5 and District 13.
Among McNerney’s accomplishments during his time in Congress was the acquisition of nearly $200 million in funding for the construction of a veterans' health clinic in French Camp.
McNerney authored multiple bills aimed at supporting veterans during his time in Congress, including legislation signed in 2016 that extended the period that veteran-owned businesses could maintain special status if the business owner died.
Last year ground was broken on Victory Gardens, an affordable housing project for homeless veterans in French Champ.
McNerney serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce and on the House Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
McNerney was born in Albuquerque and lived in Dublin when elected to Congress and later moved to Stockton.
The Fox Karen is one step away from cannon fire. A talent agency which helps her get booking deals and representation dropped the once serious journalist. Although a war hawk and peddler of misinformation, the Fox Karen was unceremoniously booted from her old employer after a botched story on Benghazi.
CBS had to retract the story, fired the producer and iced the Karen.
Lara Logan committed the terrible crime of speaking the truth about Dr. Fauci
Karen Logan, left CBS for Breitbart, then Sinclair Media and lastly Fox. Now on Fox she hosted a show on its far-right subscription service. So far, she hasn't been on the network since the incident.
She is no longer is represented by UTA, after her comments in late November in which she compared Dr. Anthony Fauci to Dr. Josef Mengele, the Nazi doctor who performed cruel medical experiments on Jewish prisoners.
Seth Oster, spokesperson for the Hollywood talent agency, confirmed a Mediaite report that the agency severed ties with Logan.
As she made a guest appearance on Fox News Primetime on November 29, Logan said, “This is what people say to me, that he doesn’t represent science to them. He represents Josef Mengele. the Nazi doctor who did experiments on Jews during the Second World War and in the concentration camps. And I am talking about people all across the world are saying this because the response from Covid, what it has done to countries everywhere, what it has done to civil liberties, the suicide rates, the poverty. It has obliterated economies. The level of suffering that has been created because of this disease is now being seen in the cold light of day, i.e., the truth.”
The comment drew condemnation from Jewish groups including the American Jewish Committee and the Auschwitz Museum, while Fauci said that “it’s an insult to all of the people who suffered and died under the Nazi regime in the concentration camps.”
According to an insider, UTA dropped Logan in December, with the comments seen as “offensive and vile.”
Logan was making an appearance as a guest on Fox News Primetime and is not a paid Fox News contributor. Her Fox Nation show, Lara Logan Has No Agenda, is produced via Warm Springs Productions. She has not appeared on Fox News since then.
We are at a crossroads..... a crossroads that greatly affects the democracy of the United States.
Born on January 15, 1929, (previously Michael) Martin Luther King, Jr., became an iconic figure in civil rights. The man's legacy was not of greatness.
He was vilified by conservatives. Black figures like Malcolm X called him a sell-out or a traitor to his race. Others claimed he was a snake oil salesman, an adulterer and a fraud.
From 1953 until his untimely death in 1968, King led the fight for Blacks in the South. He called for an end to Jim Crow segregation laws, establish voting rights for Blacks, and call for an end to poverty.
So many things happened during his time on earth but most didn't know he was a marked man because he stood up against the system.
Did you know he nearly committed suicide after his grandmother passed away?
Did you know that King did not trust white people at one time hated them for the way they treated his father, brother and mother?
Did you know he survive two assassination attempts before the Memphis encounter?
Did you know Martin Luther King was an independent not a Republican?
Democrats were not all on board with civil rights. Republicans at one time were the champions of civil rights. With the fears of communism and the conservative rise of charlatans like Joseph McCarthy, Strom Thrumond and Barry Goldwater, King was the other enemy to the far right.
King did lead the Montgomery bus boycott, the Albany, Georgia movement and protest in Birmingham. Richard Nixon blew an opportunity to win Black voters. Then vice president brushed off the calls to take on Southern governors attempts to stop desegregation. Sen. John F. Kennedy of Massachusetts called upon the release of King and asked for his brother Robert and civil rights leaders to aid him. That earned King's endorsement. Kennedy would become the 35th President of the United States.
Kennedy was cautious about King. He knew the allegations of associating with alleged communists would be damaging to him. Kennedy kept the fight for civil rights but died because of it. He was assassinated in 1963 and Lyndon B. Johnson took control. During that time, King worked with Johnson to get the Kennedy agenda to fruition. It took a speech at the Lincoln Memorial to drive the world to King.
King helped organize the 1963 March on Washington, where he delivered his "I Have a Dream" speech on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.
It was an ugly fight in the 1960s in the South. There was the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing, the killing of civil rights workers in Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas, the arrest of King and his allies.
The Klan was at its strongest during the 1960s. The federal government was pressured to do something.
The SCLC put into practice the tactics of nonviolent protest with some success by strategically choosing the methods and places in which protests were carried out. There were several dramatic stand-offs with segregationist authorities, who sometimes turned violent.
J. Edgar Hoover considered King a radical and made him an object of the FBI's COINTELPRO from 1963, forward. FBI agents investigated him for possible communist ties, recorded his extramarital affairs and reported on them to government officials, and, in 1964, mailed King a threatening anonymous letter, which he interpreted as an attempt to make him commit suicide.
King was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his work. He was there for the signings of the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act under President Lyndon B Johnson.
The two would lose favor after Johnson vowed to take on the Viet Cong in Vietnam. King distanced himself from the 1968 Democratic presidential primaries. He didn't endorse candidates. Johnson sought to no longer be president and it led to a lot of tension.
During the striking garbage workers in Memphis, an assassin shot King in April. The Lorraine Motel in Memphis is now a memorial to his passing.
Since 1983, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday is celebrated in the United States. It was the first holiday to an African American and a non politician. On the third Monday of the month of January, we honor King's legacy and offer a day of service.
I seriously believe that if King was alive, he would be disappointed in the way things are going.
Republicans and some Democrats twist his legacy into a partisan agenda. Republicans are on board with white nationalism and dog whistle politics. Democrats are on the side of white gentificiation and side piece meal politics.
Both sides are not working in the interest of King.
But we can change that. I believe we should continue to fight for the right to vote. It may not affect me now, but it will in the future. Trust me, we have a long way to go before we can achieve King's dream.
