Chicago Cubs Broke The Curse!

The Curse is broken.

Good news for the fans of the long suffering Chicago Cubs.

Yesterday, they broke the 108 year old curse. They ended up winning the World Series in Game 7.

They had pulled off a 3-1 deficit against the Cleveland Indians. It was a great finish for the Cubs.

The Cubs would manage to hold back the Indians by a run. The two teams ran it into the midnight hour through 10 innings. Cleveland let the ball slip in the top of the 10th. Chicago whacked them balls hard. They showed the Indians how the game is played.

The Cubs now can put to rest the longstanding ridicule and the taunts of many.

Congratulations to the Chicago Cubs.

Believe it.

The Cubs are the G.O.A.T.

Conservative Outrage Over Sports Illustrated Crowning Serena Williams!

The queen rules over tennis. Serena Williams was the Sportsperson of the Year.

The angry concern trolls of the conservative bandwidth are pissed that Sports Illustrated gave its honorary award to tennis icon Serena Williams. They would have rather gave it to the Triple Crown derby horse American Pharaoh.

The Sports Illustrated magazine "Sportsperson of the Year" goes to humans.

But the angry conservative concern trolls believe it's political correctness at its finest.

At least Serena got recognition for her accomplishments. She was close to having an All-Time Grand Slam title but lost in the finals of the U.S. Open.

Let's start with the graceful Serena saying thanks to the folks over at S.I. for giving her the title.

And now here comes the word vomit.

And of course the hilarious response to the controversy. A concern troll gets "roll'd".

Any thoughts of the latest bout of ignorance.

Do you actually think the outrage over Serena Williams being chosen is justified?

Moses Malone Passed Away!

The passing of the chairman. Moses Malone passed away suddenly.

Another legend in the game passed away. World News Today send our condolence to the family of Moses Malone.

The NBA Hall of Famer died on Sunday at age 60. The Philadelphia 76ers confirmed the "passing of a legend" in a statement commending the superstar for his contributions to the city and basketball.

The three-time NBA MVP averaged 20.6 points and 12.2 rebounds per game over his 21 seasons playing professional basketball. He was also named the Finals MVP in 1983 while playing with the 76ers, who won the league championship that year.

"It is with a deep sense of sadness that the Sixers family mourns the sudden loss of Moses Malone. It is difficult to express what his contributions to this organization -- both as a friend and player -- have meant to us, the city of Philadelphia and his faithful fans," the 76ers said in a statement on Sunday.
Many in the NBA send condolences to his family.
Malone went pro when he was just 19 years old -- the first person to join professional basketball right out of high school -- playing as a forward and then center for ABA team the Utah Stars. After two seasons, he made the jump to the NBA, where he scored 27,409 points and snagged 16,212 rebounds over the next 19 years.

The 6-foot-10 center, nicknamed the "Chairman of the Boards," was chosen as one of the NBA's 50 greatest players of all time in 1996. He was inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame in 2001.

News of Malone's death, first reported by ESPN early Sunday, sparked an outpouring of love and remembrance for the player, including this touching tribute from the 76ers.

Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins Passed Away!

The famed Chocolate Thunder, Darryl Dawkins passed away.

The legend of Chocolate Thunder. The famed dunking center would often break the glass when he done them dunks. He earned the name from R&B legend Stevie Wonder.

The name stuck, and the rim-wrecking, glass-shattering dunks remain unforgettable — as will the giant of a man who changed the game with them. Darryl Dawkins died Thursday at a hospital in Allentown, Pennsylvania, according to the Lehigh County coroner's office. He was 58, and even though officials said an autopsy would be performed on Friday his family released a statement saying the cause of death was a heart attack.

"Darryl touched the hearts and spirits of so many with his big smile and personality, ferocious dunks, but more than anything, his huge, loving heart," his family said. "His family, wife Janice, children Dara, Tabitha, Nicholas and Alexis, along with countless family, friends, and fans, all mourn his loss.

"More than anything Darryl accomplished in his basketball career as the inimitable 'Chocolate Thunder,' he was most proud of his role and responsibility as a husband and father," his family added.

Dawkins, the first player to go from high school into the first round of the NBA draft, spent parts of 14 seasons in the NBA with Philadelphia, New Jersey, Utah and Detroit. He averaged 12 points and 6.1 rebounds in 726 career regular-season games.

NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said Dawkins was "beloved around the league."
He was a beloved player said NBA commissioner Adam Silver.
"The NBA family is heartbroken by the sudden and tragic passing of Darryl Dawkins," Silver said. "We will always remember Darryl for his incredible talent, his infectious enthusiasm and his boundless generosity. He played the game with passion, integrity and joy, never forgetting how great an influence he had on his legions of fans, young and old."

Dawkins was, by any measure, a character. His love for the game was unquestioned and unwavering — he appeared at an 76ers alumni event earlier this month and recently posted a photo to his Twitter account of him coaching a summer-league girls team.

Dawkins was as revered off the court as he was on it. He remained enormously popular after his playing days were done, even during his stint as a member of the Harlem Globetrotters. He would name his dunks — the "look out below," the "yo-mama" and the "rim wrecker" among them — and often boasted that he hailed from the "Planet Lovetron."

In actuality, he was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, growing up impoverished with dreams of giving his mother and grandmother better lives.

"A great man, entertainer, athlete and ferocious dunker," former NBA guard Kevin Johnson wrote on Twitter. "He will be missed but not forgotten."

Injuries plagued Dawkins late in his NBA career, and he went overseas for several more years to play in the Italian league. He also briefly had stints in the Continental Basketball Association and the International Basketball Association. He also coached at times, at both the minor-league and junior-college levels.

He averaged double digits in nine consecutive NBA seasons, with his best year likely being the 1983-84 campaign for New Jersey. He averaged a career-best 16.8 points that year, with only foul trouble — 386 that season, still a league record — holding him back.

"Darryl Dawkins is the father of power dunking," Shaquille O'Neal once said. "I'm just one of his sons."

Many across the country expressed their thoughts to a great legend. World News Today send our condolences to the family of Darryl "Chocolate Thunder" Dawkins.

Redskins Is Such An Ugly Name, Says Obama!

The president thinks Washington's NFL team The Redskin are in need of a makeover!

The conservatives hate the president so much, anything he says will certainly drive them nuts.

And tonight, here's another one to grab them an ounce of outrage. The NFL's Washington Redskins.

The NFC (National Football Conference) team is under huge pressure from Native American/First Nation groups about the labeling of the team.

Activists claim that the team and mascot represents a negative stereotype upon the Native American culture and some are even go as far to suing the team for a name change.

But for the owner Dan Synder, it's basically going to be the namesake as long as he owns the team.

Well you know that President Barack Obama is big fan of basketball and football. So as the leader of the nation and avid sports watcher, he had an opinion to the controversy.

He stated that if he owned the Washington Redskins, he would "think about changing" the team name, wading into the controversy over a football nickname that many people deem offensive to Native Americans.

The Associated Press had access to the president and he told it like it is!

The presidet said that team names like the Redskins offend "a sizable group of people." He said that while fans get attached to the nicknames, nostalgia may not be a good enough reason to keep them in place.
Team quarterback Robert Griffin III (aka RG III).
"I don't know whether our attachment to a particular name should override the real legitimate concerns that people have about these things," he said in the interview, which was conducted Friday.

Obama said he doesn't think Washington football fans are purposely trying to offend American Indians. "I don't want to detract from the wonderful Redskins fans that are here. They love their team and rightly so," he said.

But the president appeared to come down on the side of those who have sharply criticized the football team's name, noting that Indians "feel pretty strongly" about mascots and team names that depict negative stereotypes about their heritage.

Other professional sports teams have Indian nicknames, including football's Kansas City Chiefs and baseball's Atlanta Braves and Cleveland Indians.

Numerous colleges and universities have changed names that reference Native Americans. St. John's changed its mascot from the Redmen to the Red Storm, Marquette is now the Golden Eagles instead of the Warriors and Stanford switched from the Indians to the Cardinal.

The Redskins' nickname has attracted a fresh round of controversy in recent months, with local leaders in Washington calling for a name change and some media outlets refraining from using the name. The name is the subject of a long-running legal challenge from a group of American Indians seeking to block the team from having federal trademark protection.

Congressional lawmakers have introduced a bill seeking the same goal, though it appears unlikely to pass.

Opponents of the Redskins nickname also plan to hold a protest Monday outside the NFL's fall meeting in Washington.
In 2013, President Barack Obama hosted the Superbowl champions the Baltimore Ravens.
Despite the controversy, an AP-GfK poll conducted in April showed that nationally, "Redskins" still enjoys wide support. Nearly 4 in 5 Americans don't think the team should change its name, the survey found. Only 11 percent think it should be changed, while 8 percent weren't sure and 2 percent didn't answer.

Obama said he doesn't have a direct stake in the Redskins debate since he's not a team owner. But he hinted that might be part of his post-White House plans.

"Maybe after I leave the presidency," he joked. "I think it would be a lot of fun."

He added: "I'd probably look at a basketball team before I looked at a football team. I know more about basketball than I do about football."

Of course, will King Hippo, That Guy Who Throws Shit To The Wall or That Guy Who Helped Obama Win have their say to the matter. Of course they will!

They are so devoid of rational discussion, anything that President Barack Obama says, does, or even mention will merit some agitation from the racist right!

Jason Collins: NBA Player Dribbles A Shocker!

Jason Collins the 7'0'' NBA center opens up about his sexuality.

The Washington Wizards center comes out a gay basketball player.

Wow, in one day we seen more stuff come out of the Washington-Baltimore area. And it's only Monday.

I had posted about a big time player in the iron college knocking up four correctional guards in a Baltimore jail. The feds are working on putting the player and his honeys in the iron college for life.

I had posted about President Barack Obama and Conan O'Brien making the rounds at the White House Correspondent's Dinner. And the flack of former governor Palin Da Ass.

I talked about Washington lawmakers failing the people of Newtown, Connecticut when it comes to passing comprehensive gun control.

I haven't talked about the low approved Congress passing legislation to slow down the FAA budget cuts. Those budget cuts will affect air travel. But due to public outcry and politicos suffering too, they've compromised on the slow wound.

Now since the news of Black entertainers and athletes coming out publicly, it's another rocker since Jenna Wolfe made her announcement on national television and print.

Collins is an American professional basketball center with the Washington Wizards of the National Basketball Association (NBA).

Collins attended Stanford University, where he was an All-American in 2000–01 and appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated on March 15, 2000. He finished his college career ranked #1 in Stanford history for field goal percentage (.608) and #5 in blocked shots (89).

In a story appearing in the May 6, 2013, issue of Sports Illustrated, Collins announced publicly that he is gay, becoming the first active male professional athlete in United States team sports to publicly announce his homosexuality.

The Huffington Post reports that 34-year-old, who appeared in 32 games this season for the Celtics before being traded at the deadline along with Leandro Barbosa for guard Jordan Crawford and is now a free agent, tells Sports Illustrated:

"I didn't set out to be the first openly gay athlete playing in a major American team sport. But since I am, I'm happy to start the conversation. I wish I wasn't the kid in the classroom raising his hand and saying, 'I'm different.' If I had my way, someone else would have already done this. Nobody has, which is why I'm raising my hand."

Collins continues, "When I was younger I dated women. I even got engaged. I thought I had to live a certain way. I thought I needed to marry a woman and raise kids with her. I kept telling myself the sky was red, but I always knew it was blue."

As to why he opted to address his sexuality now, Collins says that he was partly inspired by the Boston Marathon bombings, adding that "it takes an enormous amount of energy to guard such a big secret."

"I've endured years of misery and gone to enormous lengths to live a lie. I was certain that my world would fall apart if anyone knew," he writes. "And yet when I acknowledged my sexuality I felt whole for the first time. I still had the same sense of humor, I still had the same mannerisms and my friends still had my back."

The circumstances of the shooting have not yet been released.

Steenkamp's publicist Sarit Tomlinson described the incident as a "huge loss for everyone and too shocking for words."

Our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers go out to Reeva Steenkamp’s family and friends."

A national hero in South Africa, Pistorius ran in 11 races during the 2012 Games and the Paralympics. He returned home with "two Paralympic gold medals, Paralympic silver, two world records, a Paralympic record, an Olympic individual semi-final and an Olympic final." The South African Olympic committee said it would be inappropriate to comment on the shooting because of the ongoing police investigation, but issued the following statement: "The organization is in no position to comment on the incident other than to say our deepest sympathy and condolences have been expressed to the families of all concerned."

We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Reeva Steenkamp.
