Maybe this is a wake up call. Words have consequences and Trump better think twice before he makes violent rhetoric. |
Being shot at doesn't immediately make your a favorite to win the presidency. Matter of fact, it makes the United States downside further down in democracy. It shows that politics have become too extreme and civilians are now using violence as a reason.
Maybe Howard The Duck will win the Republican nomination.
The U.S. and its support for Israel while condemning Russia, the rhetoric of many political agitators, candidates refusing to accept losing an election, conspiracy theories and propaganda has the world looking at the superpower in decline.
Former president Donald J. Trump is preparing to accept his nomination as the 2024 Republican nominee. His reluctance to continue on despite a near assassination shows how desperate he is to stay out of legal limbo.
He still is a convicted criminal.
He is still a twice impeached president.
He is still under investigation for not returning classified documents.
He is found liable for sexual assault.
He is found guilty of defrauding and stealing from the state of New York.
Being shot in the ear and then raising his fist telling his supporters to fight is just bad optics. Now his allies are trying to profit off this.
The victim in the mass shooting and assassination attempt on Trump was a raving lunatic.
Corey Comperatore had a presence on social media. He had an X account and it was chop full of conspiracy theories and dog whistle politics. The Republicans and his family is trying to paint him as a hero because according to his wife, he dived to save his family.
Biden shows real leadership. He offered compassion to his rival. Trump rarely offered compassion to Biden. |
In reality, the shooter missed Trump and shot three others.
While I am shocked that Comperatore lost his life to gun violence, if he was alive he would not have any sympathy towards anyone who became a victim. His views showed a lack of empathy.

Trump probably did not show empathy either. After he was shot, his campaign showed videos of him exiting his plane and playing rounds of golf.
Trump was extremely lucky. Had he had an opportunity to rant and pointed towards the Republican senate nominee David McCormick, the bullet would have taken him out.
Trump may of had an epiphany. We shall see!
President Joe Biden did call Trump and the two spoke for about an hour. While we don't know what the two said, the former president did thank Biden.
Tonight is the kick off for the Republican National Convention.
Trump had allegedly called Milwaukee a horrible place. He may have changed his mind on that one.
DEI won't harm Corey Comperatore anymore. |
Now he will be in town to meet and greet Democratic Gov. Tony Evers, Milwaukee mayor Cavalier Johnson, former chief of staff/previous RNC chair Reince Priebus, currently RNC chair Michael Whatley and Republican officials.
Republicans already blame Biden for the assassination attempt on Trump. Even though the shooter was a registered a Republican and his former allies said he had a far right mentality, the alleged donation to ActBlue is enough to dismiss him as a "Biden terrorist."
MAGA noise continues on.
Biden's campaign "rhetoric led directly to President Trump's attempted assassination," Senator J.D. Vance, on Trump's shortlist for vice president, alleged shortly after Saturday's shooting at a rally in Pennsylvania, in which the former US leader was wounded and one bystander killed.
Vance's comments were part of an escalating chorus of Republicans who have pinned the blame on Democrats -- even as the FBI says it has yet to identify the shooter's ideology.
They also heap more fuel onto the fire in a political atmosphere that has long been tense and fiercely polarized.
"Heated rhetoric has come from both sides" in recent years, Michael Bailey, a political science professor at Georgetown University, told AFP.
Republicans, for whom gun rights and a rejection of alleged government overreach are key themes, "have been more prone to marry such rhetoric with imagery related to guns," Bailey noted.
"And some of them (including Trump) did not cover themselves in glory when they made light of the violent attack on Nancy Pelosi's husband," he said, referring to the 2022 attack by a conspiracy theorist on the high-profile Democrat's spouse.
Trump later mocked the Pelosis, and stoked further conspiracy theories around the assault.
J.D. Vance and Majorie Taylor Greene continue to be insufferable. |
Steve Scalise, a Republican who was shot in a 2017 attack on conservative lawmakers by a left-wing activist, has also blamed the left for Saturday's assassination attempt.
"Democrat leaders have been fueling ludicrous hysteria that Donald Trump winning reelection would be the end of democracy in America," he said.
"For years, and even today, leftist activists, Democrat donors and now even Joe Biden have made disgusting remarks and descriptions of shooting Donald Trump," Trump campaign adviser Chris LaCivita charged on X.
Biden did recently tell donors that it was "time to put Trump in the bullseye," according to comments put out by his campaign -- though he was speaking in the context of focusing the party on beating Trump.
Representative Mike Collins went further on the shooting, stating "Joe Biden sent the orders," without offering credible evidence.
Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, meanwhile, offered an escalation of her own, telling her followers "we are in a battle between good and evil" and casting Democrats as "the party of pedophiles" and "violence."
"The Democrat party is flat out evil, and yesterday they tried to murder President Trump," she said.
Such accusations risk removing "attention from the very welcome, widespread condemnation of the attack," said Jacob Ware, a research fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.
The heated rhetoric pushed Biden to issue a rare address to the nation from the Oval Office on Sunday in which he called on Americans to "lower the temperature."
1 in 5 Americans believe violence is the only way to solve political problems.
