People say Angela Weatherspoon was caring woman. |
Birmingham police Deputy Chief Rodarius Mauldin said police quickly began receiving calls of multiple shots fired from the birthday party.
When officers arrived, they put out a max-emergency call for backup because of the large number of people gathered there. He described the scene as chaotic.
McGhee was found shot outside of the event venue. Weatherspoon and Gettings were found shot inside the club.
All three were pronounced dead on the scene.
Multiple victims began showing up at area hospitals with gunshot wounds, Mauldin said.
Anderson was among those, and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Police initially said nine others were wounded, but updated that number Sunday to 10.
“It’s still a fluid situation,’’ he said.
Mauldin said the deadly shots were fired from a vehicle. It wasn’t immediately clear whether there was more than one shooter.
“We’re unsure what led to the incident and whether someone was targeted,’’ Mauldin said.
Stevie McGhee was a father of three. |
Numerous Birmingham police investigators responded to the scene, and some were brought in from other investigative units in addition to the homicide unit.
Mauldin said federal investigators also responded to assist.
At least 150 people were gathered outside the crime scene tape, including loved ones of those killed and wounded.
Maulding said detectives hope to get more information from the surviving victims, as well as witnesses who were at the party or in the area.
“We know there was a lot of people that saw and heard various things,’’ Mauldin said.
The Saturday night shooting was the second quadruple homicide in Birmingham this year, and the second shooting Saturday that left multiple people dead.
On Feb. 16, four men were killed in a targeted shooting at a neighborhood car wash in the city’s Smithfield community.
Earlier Saturday, a mother, her young son and her boyfriend were shot to death while in a vehicle on the city’s eastside.
Saturday’s seven homicides raised the total number of slayings in Birmingham this year to 89. There had been 74 homicides as of July 13, 2023.
In all of Jefferson County, there have been 112 homicides, including the 89 in Birmingham.
Lerandus Anderson was the youngest victim in the mass shooting. |
Far right lawmakers like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) will hop on social media talking about it but not doing a damn thing to stop it.
Birmingham had 80 homicides this year. |
The unions back up their claims of "fearing for their lives" despite the perpetrator not even firing a round. Given that the junk food media loves to paint the aggressor as the victim, the police officer is given the benefit of doubt. The person police shot usually do not get any ounce of doubt. A mugshot of a suspect or a picture of a person posing with money or firearms automatically draws far right conclusions to justification of force.
The website Officer Down is a memorial to those police officers who were killed in the line of duty. Those victims who don't get their names or accomplishments mentioned in the junk food media. Also the website the National Gun Violence Memorial also keeps record of the many individuals killed by gun violence. We are tracking police violence as well.

Let them know that "thoughts and prayers," "hearts going to" and "good guys with guns" are no longer acceptable and you want legislation to curb gun violence. Let them know that we are tired of police officers using immunity when committing death of suspects in custody. Let them know that you are tired of private equity firms getting away with destroying small businesses and long established companies. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel. Let them know you are very tired of your lawmakers embarrassing themselves in the media. You are tired of your lawmakers always being outside their district or state. You elected them to serve their districts and state not travel across the country or to foreign countries on your taxpayer dollars. You are tired of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-semitic or in support of terrorism. You want an immediate ceasefire and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and lawmakers avoid influence from lobbyists.
