And It Was Bad....

To say at least.

For any Black supporter of Donald J. Trump, I have to ask you, is this the candidate you want in the White House?

The National Association of Black Journalists and the 45th President of the United States and Republican nominee for president went to Chicago for a question and answer to Black women journalists and Harris Faulkner of Fox. The whole thing was nasty work.

Trump being himself was downright disrespectful and disgusting to the two moderators ABC News' Rachel Scott and Semafor's Kadia Goba.

Trump without his ear bandage from the assassination attempt came to the event with his hands clasped staring down the Black women.

He even went as far to mispronounce Vice President Kamala Harris' name. He calls her Kahmala Harris to disrespect her. Harris identifies herself as a Black woman and does acknowledge her Indian heritage from her late mother, Shyamala Gopalan Harris.

Trump did some nasty work when questioned by Black journalists and Harris Faulkner.

Okay, only two minutes into the questioning, Trump insults Rachel Scott, complaining about the event being 35 minutes late, disrespect the hosts who inviting him and pivots constantly when questioned about his dog whistle racism. The rest of it was totally out of pocket.

His cognitive abilities are in decline.

“I think it’s disgraceful that I came here in good spirit,” Trump said. “I love the Black population of this country.”

He continued remarking about The Black Jobs.

Many NABJ members strongly opposed Trump’s visit, especially given his treatment of high-profile Black women journalists, and the announcement of his appearance sparked a major backlash. Members were also critical about the lack of transparency around the invitation to Trump and the inclusion of a moderator from the conservative Fox network.

Trump attacked ABC’s Scott and called her questions “rude” and her media outlet a “fake news network.”

Scott asked Trump why Black voters should trust him, especially after Trump has made false claims that political rivals such as former President Barack Obama were not born in the United States, has dined with a white supremacist at his Florida residence and has slammed Black journalists.

“I don’t think I’ve ever been asked a question in such a horrible manner,” Trump said.

Scott pressed Trump about Republican members of Congress who have referred to Harris, who is the first Black woman and woman of Asian American descent to serve as vice president, as a so-called DEI hire. She asked if that was acceptable language.

Trump didn’t answer the question and asked Scott to define DEI, which she said stood for diversity, equity and inclusion.

he Republican former president wrongly claimed that Harris, the first Black woman and Asian American to serve as vice president, had in the past only promoted her Indian heritage.

“I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black and now she wants to be known as Black. So, I don’t know, is she Indian or is she Black?” Trump said while addressing the group’s annual convention.

Harris is the daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, both immigrants to the U.S. As an undergraduate, Harris attended Howard University, one of the nation’s most prominent historically Black colleges and universities, where she also pledged the historically Black sorority Alpha Kappa Alpha. As a U.S. senator, Harris was a member of the Congressional Black Caucus, supporting legislation to strengthen voting rights and to reform policing.
