Protesters bother American lawmakers more than children being killed by Israel. |
Sometimes you loose faith in American democracy. We are clearly on the down slide of American democracy. The U.S. Congress and President Joe Biden are no better than former president Donald J. Trump when he was in power.
Democratic backsliding occurs when essential components of democracy are threatened.
Examples of democratic backsliding include:
- Free and fair elections are degraded;
- Liberal rights of freedom of speech, press and association decline, impairing the ability of the political opposition to challenge the government, hold it to account, and propose alternatives to the current regime;
- The rule of law (i.e., judicial and bureaucratic restraints on the government) is weakened, such as when the independence of the judiciary is threatened, or when civil service tenure protections are weakened or eliminated.
- An over-emphasis on national security as response to acts of terrorism or perceived antagonists.
The 46th President of the United States has broke his promise on "saving the soul of the nation."
I am reminded that protests after the death of George Floyd drove opposition to Trump.
Trump ignored the calls and paid the price.
Deja vu.
Republicans and Democrats are united in their opposition of anti-Israel protests on American colleges and universities.
With the approval of AIPAC and the state of Israel, Congress has:
1. Forcing TikTok to divest from ByteDance or face a ban in the U.S.
2. Advocated the arrest, the suspension, the termination of students, staff and media figures for protesting.
3. Drafted bills to define criticism of Israel as antisemitic and are working to push for fines and jail time.
4. Working to sanction the International Criminal Court and its prosecutors from issuing arrest warrant to top Israeli leaders.
5. Continue to give Israel billions in taxpayer money without any conditions.
6. Refuse to have a formal investigation into the deaths of Americans killed by Israel.
7. Support retaliation towards Yemen, Syria, Iran and Iraq despite Israel launching illegal airstrikes.
8. Refuses to sanction Israel for illegal settlements, killing of journalists and other atrocities.
9. Voted to block funding to UNRWA and WHO because of allegations made by Israeli propaganda.
We cannot allow the lawlessness we’ve seen recently on college campuses.

Congress will take action to protect Jewish students and hold these pro-Hamas protestors accountable. pic.twitter.com/uItxqD051a
Why is Joe Biden handing over YOUR TAX MONEY to the terrorists responsible for the worst attack on the Jewish people since the Holocaust.
— Rep. Brian Mast (@RepBrianMast) April 30, 2024
Your tax dollars should not be funding the next attack on Israel. pic.twitter.com/skll6UVV8Y
Any student participating in violent antisemitic protests on college campuses and is in this country on a student visa needs to be immediately deported.
— Lauren Boebert (@laurenboebert) April 30, 2024
Any student on a federal student loan caught in these protests needs to have their loan revoked.
Enough is enough with this…
Expel the students. Fire the faculty. Send the National Guard to protect Jewish students on campus https://t.co/oWPDxbCKBf

Any student who has promoted terrorism or engaged in terrorists acts on behalf of Hamas should be immediately be added to the terrorist watch list and placed on the TSA No Fly List.
— Sen. Marsha Blackburn (@MarshaBlackburn) April 29, 2024
As anti-semitism spreads like wildfire across college campuses, I cannot overstate how important it is to support our Jewish students and our friend and ally, Israel.

Unfortunately, we are now seeing protests in my district, at my alma mater, Indiana University. We’ve been in…
So much for “peaceful protests” at Columbia University.

Violence is not a bug but a feature of the pro-Hamas encampment movement, which has a deep rot of Anti-Americanism and AntiSemitism at its core. pic.twitter.com/rMYwAj3rYd
These Hamas-supporting lunatics should be fired.

They have no business teaching students. https://t.co/KeitLhrHuV
Elite universities have become expensive day care centers for coddled children.

It's time to tax university endowments aggressively. They no longer serve a useful social function, so they shouldn't get taxpayer subsidies.
Anti-Semitism should not be funded with American tax dollars. pic.twitter.com/mPtjS9gcad

Antisemitic agitators have taken hammers to @Columbia and are now occupying a main building.
— Rep. Anthony D’Esposito (@RepDesposito) April 30, 2024
These terror sympathizers will destroy @Columbia until leadership steps up.

Trump is correct - and Hamas has admitted they don’t have enough hostages to meet Israel’s requirements.

Biden has been hiding behind a weak ceasefire deal without acknowledging a simple truth:
The U.S. is negotiating with terrorists.
The only language terrorists understand… https://t.co/AvYPJnO80Z
To make this clear, it doesn't matter anymore who the fucking president is. Biden, Trump and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. are backing Israel over the world. They are so out of touch with reality.
Holding Biden accountable for his actions doesn't mean a lockstep vote and support.
I. Am. Calling. Him. Out.
Biden is an advocate of war and genocide. He is tone deaf and unfortunately a lost cause.
What pisses me off is our lawmakers are calling protesters "Hamas supporters" to paint peaceful protests as an act of "terrorism."
The protests were driven by outside agitators who instigated violence toward protesters.
Pro Israel supporters are literally trying to incite violence. No one in Congress condemned the former IDF soliders who were students using "skunk" on protesters earlier this year. That sparked the Columbia protests in the first place.
The students did get punished but ended up suing for reinstatement.
See these Americans are more upset over peaceful protests than a foreign country committing acts of genocide. Israel and many of its supporters have labeled the protests antisemitic, and say they pose a threat to the safety of Jewish students. Some have pointed to videos of protesters outside Columbia's gates who were caught on camera making antisemitic remarks, but the student protesters—some of whom are Jewish—have said those individuals do not represent them and that their movement is peaceful.
