Folks, you might want to establish a Lyft or an Uber if we have to get to points of interests. There is a worker shortage with school bus drivers, public transit companies and taxi drivers. They don't have the manpower to maintain the buses, the light rails, the streetcars, the subways, the ferries and the taxis.
The pandemic has forced bus drivers, taxi drivers and rapid transit operators to either quit or work overwhelming hours. The toughest thing for public transit workers is enforcing mask mandates.
Dayton, Ohio is my hometown and I see the writing on the wall. The Dayton RTA is going to cut twelve fixed routes to accommodate the worker shortage.
The Cincinnati Metro and TANK are also going to cut services as well.
Many of the reasons to why public transit is struggling to find help is the wages. Many of the wages are not livable.
Of course, dealing with unruly riders who refuse to wear masks when riding.
