What Happened To Muhlaysia Booker?

Transwoman who was filmed getting attack by a mob found dead a month later.

Less than a month ago, we talked about a transgender woman of color getting served by a mob of ignorance in Dallas. Someone recorded the event and posted it on social media. The community was outraged over this and one of the individuals was caught.

Now today, we hear that the victim is now dead after a shooting.

Thoughts and prayers, thoughts and prayers. Thoughts and prayers won't heal the wounded or bring back the dead. Moments of silence won't heal the wounded or bring back the dead. All of this is a colossal waste of time and it's inaction. We could do so much. Because GOD is not fixing this shit.

Calling on Jesus isn't working. This is a man-made problem.

Our lawmakers, the National Rifle Association and people who have antipathy towards their fellow human being keep enabling these countless tragedies. We don't know the victims. We only mention them in death. We do hashtags and our condolences. I am sick of condolences and I am sick of prayers. I am sick of religion always telling us that being killed by man is "GOD'S PLAN."

Fuck this shit. We need to do something.

Women of color are under attack. Even transgender women of color face the wrath of violence.

Muhlaysia Booker was fatally shot in East Dallas. The woman who appeared in the viral video being served knuckle style chili was found fatally shot on Saturday morning on a Far East Dallas street.

Booker, 23 was found in the early morning. The Dallas Metro Police say that the incident is a "homicide."

The law can't confirm if Booker was a subject of threats and they believe that the person knew the victim

Muhlaysia Booker was a human being who suffered at the hands of gun violence.

The suspect who attacked her was named. He was charged two days after the video surfaced. He was charged of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He posted bond and was released from the county lock up this month. He and others will face charges in connection to the video.

He may be the person of interest in this.

This is the fourth transwoman of color killed this year.

The others who didn't get name recognition were Dana Martin, Ashanti Carmon and Claire Legato.

They were women of color who were attacked by bigots. Often times we often reflect on the negative of the victims. They could be prostitutes or victims of sexual abuse. They may of had criminal history or done something stupid once in their lives.

But the one thing that we all forget...... These women were human.

The suspect who killed Muhlaysia will be charged with homicide. The charges in Texas could carry LIFE or DEATH in the iron college. If the suspect is caught, they could face a hate crime charge. It could be state or federal. That piles on 20 additional years in the iron college. The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
