Staring down the face of bigotry. |
There was a group of teenage boys who were mocking a Native American who was a military veteran.
It’s even worse when you see the full mob effect. pic.twitter.com/Oe7Zn5srOB— Lulu Says (@lulu_says2) January 19, 2019
I dgaf if they are minors. They need to be identified. What school are they from? Who was chaperoning them? This is one of the most horrific displays of ignorance, racism & disrespect. My god. I feel sick. pic.twitter.com/oUsiVY5pNA— Lulu Says (@lulu_says2) January 19, 2019
When are these people going to learn to stop vilifying the people of color whose suffering and oppression enabled their privilege? pic.twitter.com/sVkCXIfE89— Keith Boykin (@keithboykin) January 19, 2019
The Covington Catholic High school is doing damage control after a video surfaced of its students harassing a man protesting at the Indigenous People's March. The protesters were at the March for Life event where Mike Pence made remarks and Donald J. Trump made a video message. This is a betrayal of everything Jesus taught & practiced & a mockery of Christian values. As a Muslim who went to a Catholic high school, we were asked to be "men for others." I hope Covington Catholic High School has a come to Jesus moment w/ these kids, who should know better. https://t.co/Utcycx2Cob— Wajahat Ali (@WajahatAli) January 19, 2019
The teens were literally making "pow-wow" sounds and openly mocking the protesters by chanting, "build that wall."
One of the teens was wearing a Make America Great Again hat was smirking at Elder Nathan Phillips. The teens treated the Native American protesters like they were immigrants.
This has become a huge black eye to the Archdiocese of Covington and Archdiocese of Cincinnati. The Catholic church has often try to relate to a lot of Americans who are non-religious. Unfortunately this event has made it even harder for Americans to embrace Catholicism.
