Jazmine, her mother, and her siblings were innocent victims of this shooting. For them, it was truly an awful random act of violence.— Shaun King (@shaunking) January 6, 2019
Only a week ago, the junk food media was reporting on the shooting of Jazmine Barnes, a bright little girl who was victim of a drive-by shooting in metro Houston. The shooting happened near the Sam Houston Tollway.
As her mother, LaPaorsha Washington left a Walmart, she was traveling on the service road near the tollway. She wasn't expecting a gunman to shoot at her. She didn't know the shooter.
They got the suspect who killed Jazmine Barnes. |
The picture of the orange tarp over the vehicle was horrific. People took to action. If this didn't pick up junk food media attention, it would have been an unsolved mystery.
The break in the case was yesterday. The FBI, Harris County Boys and Houston Metro Police received tips on the whereabouts of the shooter.
I don't often mention the name of the shooter. I will say that the suspect is young and he wasn't the one who the law was looking for.
The shooter admitted that he shot at the vehicle.
Harris County boys released the sketch of a man who they thought was involved in the shooting. |
Before the arrest, police had released a sketch of the suspect Thursday complied from Washington and Jazmine's three sisters. The conservatives will start bemoaning about how progressives and Black activism targeted a white person for a crime he didn't commit.
Authorities said that white person was in his 40s. It turns out that the white guy was trying to flee gunfire. He wasn't the shooter but in the state of shock, Washington saw the first person around her.
The shooting was shocking to the nation. |
Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County Sheriff said that these individuals who kept the shooter in hiding could face criminal charges as well.
The impact of Jazmine's death has been felt far and wide, and supporters have together to support the family.
More than 2,700 people have donated to a GoFundMe account that was set up for Jazmine's expenses and family.
Once indicted this suspect will face capital murder. The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
