Common Forces!

Entertainer and activist Common releases a new album on Def Jam.

Common signs to Def Jam with longtime producer No ID.

Common was fixture on Interscope/A&M/Geffen Records for a time being. He was signed with Kanye West's Getting Out Our Dreams Music label for three releases.

After departure from GOOD, it appears that he decides to jump onto the Def Jam label for a release of his newest album called Nobody Smiling.

The album, which Common revealed was originally going to be an EP, is set to feature Vince Staples, James Fauntleroy and "some new artists from Chicago." The concept of the album was inspired by his troubled hometown of Chicago: "We came up with this concept 'nobody's smiling.' It was really a thought that came about because of all the violence in Chicago," he says. "It happens in Chicago, but it's happening around the world in many ways." He continues, "We was talking about the conditions of what's happening, when I say 'nobody's smiling.' But it's really a call to action."

Common is an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ. The church was controversial during the 2008 U.S. Presidential Elections when Jeremiah Wright spoke about the 9/11 attacks and racial injustice in America. That cause such a firestorm, then senator Barack Obama had to resign from the church.

Common was invited to the White House to speak some poetry and That Guy Who Helped Obama Win was on radio bitching and complaining about First Lady Michelle Obama.

That Guy had the nerve to call Common a "cop killer".

Tracy Morgan Fighting For His Life!

Comedian Tracy Morgan was seriously injured in bus wreck.

Comedian Tracy Morgan was involved in a serious wreck. This wreck could cost him his life.

We here at Journal de la Reyna wish Tracy Morgan well on his road to recovery. We also send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy.

The Chicago Tribune reports that this accident occurred on the New Jersey Turnpike. When Morgan's limo bus crashed, it rolled and people got hurt.
Incident occurred off the New Jersey Turnpike.
Morgan, best known for his roles on "Saturday Night Live" and "30 Rock," was taken by helicopter to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in critical condition, said Gregory Williams, a New Jersey State Police spokesman.

Another passenger on the limo bus was killed in the accident when two tractor-trailers and three other vehicles crashed at around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning on the New Jersey Turnpike near Cranberry Township, Williams said.

“The limo bus is the only vehicle that overturned,” Williams told CNN. “Looks like one of the tractor-trailers may have rear-ended that limo bus, but that's preliminary at this time.”

He said he did not believe alcohol played a role in the accident, but said that is part of the investigation.

Six other people besides Morgan were injured, according to Williams.
Cult comedy, Little Man features Tracy Morgan and Marlon Wayans as two inept robbers who managed to dope a loving couple into adopting Wayans. The character Wayans was playing was a pint size robber who dressed like a child.
Morgan, 45, was on the road for his "Turn it Funny" stand-up comedy tour. He was booked to perform at a casino in Dover, Delaware, on Friday night and had been due to appear on Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The comedian spent seven years on "Saturday Night Live" before leaving the cast in 2003. He went on to star in the sitcom "30 Rock" for seven seasons, playing an unhinged, reckless comedian named Tracy Jordan in the satire about a network television variety show similar to "SNL."

A hospital spokeswoman referred queries about Morgan to the actor's publicist, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The Game Is Definitely Over!

Entertainer couldn't ink a deal with a major label. Now he's jumped to the independent circuit.

Again, there's a reason to why Curtis Jackson won't reunite with the former fifth member of the Unit.

Something must have happen? I mean last year, there was talk that the fifth member would ink a deal with Dwayne Carter, Bryan "Birdman" and Ronald "Slim" Williams' label.

Note that most rappers never put the contract on the internet. I am certain he wasn't that dumb! Somehow while doing an interview overseas with British DJ Tim Westwood, he kept ducking the question about signing with Dwayne Carter.

"I'm independent right at this moment. I ain't got no labels. I'm not signed to Interscope, I ain't signed to Geffen. I ain't signed to sh**. I got Blood Money [Entertainment], I started that up," the entertainer explained to Tim Westwood. "Me and Birdman, we met. We chopped it up. It's possible. Now, we letting the lawyers do the talking and figure it out. Most likely, we will, but it's still Blood Money.

"If it happens, yea" the entertainer said, when asked if it'd be a joint Blood Money/Cash Money venture.

So now all of sudden, it's revealed that his next album Blood Money La Familia, will drop through a joint venture with eOne Music.

He does one thing and then turns up doing another. It's a damn shame though, he's a highly talented rapper/entertainer. His negatives usually involve the name dropping of individuals and bipolar feuds with Curtis Jackson and Jay-Z.

Many people felt that Jayecon Taylor's reign on the West has come to an end.

Now today, I can assure that I was once a fan of The Game.

I was down with The Game. Even through his fallout with Curtis Jackson, I've support him. Throughout his bid with Dr. Dre.

Now I have to find myself finally understanding why Curtis Jackson booted the entertainer off the Unit.

He said that he was resigning to Aftermath Entertainment. Nope. He was signed to Geffen Records.

He said that he was the founder and CEO of Black Wall Street Records. Nope. He has no stake or control of that label. The label put out no acts other than him.

He said that it's Cash Money/Young Money 4 Life. He even dropped a stack for a Cash Money necklace. A necklace that was handed to him by second stringer Tyga and not Dwayne Carter.

That Cash Money deal is huge no!

Now this week we hear that he's signed on to the eOne Record label.
Kiss and make up.
It proves Curtis Jackson's point that there's no reason for reuniting with him. He told the press that if the situation was different, he would have worked with him.

But for Jayecon Taylor and his massive ego, it's apparent that a hard head continues to lead to a failed musical career. From the start, Jayecon couldn't muster enough credit to those who put his ass out there.

50 Cent and Dr. Dre contributed, wrote, and produced The Documentary. That is fact.

Game never gave them props for his mainstream success. To make this clear, he owes them.

50 Cent made it clear, if Game would have supported him during his feuds with Ja Rule, Fat Joe, Nas, and Jadakiss, none of this would have happen.

Game wanted to beef with Joe Budden, Memphis Bleek, Young Gunz and Jay-Z. People who had not ills towards 50 Cent and the Unit.

Now that 50 Cent and Game are finally off Interscope, maybe they'll find comfort back where they've started. On the independent circuit where they can pick what songs will be played (whether they're wack or not). They can claim most of their royalties.

David "Young Buck" Brown, Marvin "Tony Yayo" Bernard and Christopher "Lloyd Banks" Lloyd already jumped on the independent circuit.

With that being said, the Unit reunited this week for Summer Jam 2014. It was a moment that could revive an already dead cliche and clique.

Understand this. The Unit is officially dead. There's no need to rebuild, remodel, or restructure the group. It's over. When 50 Cent left the Interscope label, it practically put an end to his Unit.

The Game Is Over!

Also Game also got a dose of beef from soon to be federal time out interment Gucci Mane aka GWoup.

Petition of NC Governor Results in 11 Arrests

June Bug!

Job numbers show steady growth.

The jobs numbers for the month of May came out. I betcha that conservatives are going to whine about the numbers. After all, no amount of good will satisfy the agitators and those who support them.

Unemployment holds steady at 6.3% after it was revealed that 217,000 jobs were created.

CNBC reports that nonfarm payrolls grew at a pace in line with recent trends, rising 217,000 in May as the unemployment rate held steady at 6.3 percent, according to numbers released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Most of the job gains came on lower-paying industries as wages rose modestly, increasing 5 cents an hour to maintain the 2.1 percent growth over the past 12 months. Average hours worked came in flat at 34.5.

A broader measure of joblessness that includes those working part time for economic reasons and those who have quit looking remained elevated at 12.2 percent, though that was a low for the year and the best "U6" measure since October 2008.

Economists surveyed by Reuters expected 218,000 U.S. jobs were created last month, down from April's upwardly revised 288,000 addition. The unemployment rate had been expected at 6.4 percent.

Tragedy At Seattle Pacific University!

Shooting at the Seattle Pacific University leads to multiple injuries and confirmed deaths.

We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to those lost in this senseless tragedy.

Okay, it's been about two weeks since the shooting in California. Deranged shooter Eliot Rodger went on his rampage near the University of California Santa Barbara.

Now details emerge about a shooting at a Seattle based university. At Seattle Pacific University there was a gunman who managed to take one victim and injure multiple in a mass shooting tonight.

The Associated Press reports that the one gunman armed with a shotgun opened fire Thursday in a building at a small Seattle university, fatally wounding one person and injuring three others before a student subdued him with pepper spray as he tried to reload, Seattle police said.

A student building monitor at Seattle Pacific University disarmed the gunman and several other students jumped on top of him and pinned him down until police arrived at the Otto Miller building, police said.

A 19-year-old man died at the hospital and a critically injured 20-year-old woman was taken to surgery, Harborview Medical Center spokeswoman Susan Gregg said. A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old man were in satisfactory condition. None of the victims was immediately identified.

While on the phone, Brianna Clarke tells her family about the mass shooting on the private Christian university.
Police said they had arrested one man. None of the victims at the hospital was the arrested man, Gregg said.

The afternoon shooting came a week before the end of the school year, and the situation was particularly tense when police initially reported that they were searching for a second suspect. They later said no one else was involved.

The university locked down its campus for several hours, and it alerted students and staff to stay inside. Some students were taking finals in the same building as the shooter.

The school canceled classes Thursday evening, and it planned to hold a prayer service.

"We're a community that relies on Jesus Christ for strength and we'll need that at this point in time," said Daniel Martin, president of Seattle Pacific University.

About 4,270 students attend the private Christian university. Its 40-acre campus is in a leafy residential neighborhood about 10 minutes from downtown Seattle.

Jillian Smith was taking a math test on the second-floor of Otto Miller Hall when a lockdown was ordered.

She heard police yelling and banging on doors in the hallway. The professor locked the classroom door, and the 20 or so students sat on the ground, lining up at the front of the classroom.

"We were pretty much freaking out," said Smith, 20, a sophomore. "People were texting family and friends, making sure everyone was OK."

Police pat down students who approach the campus.
Smith said they sat in the classroom for about 45 minutes before police came and escorted them out of the building. On the way, they passed the lobby where she saw bullet casings and what appeared to be blood in the lobby carpet and splatter on the wall.

"Seeing blood made it real," Smith said. "I didn't think something like this would happen at our school."

Ashley Springer, 26, was in a classroom with her professor and a few other students when a woman with a bullhorn came into the room and told them to lock the door, pull down the shades and turn out the lights.

Springer, a senior, called Seattle Pacific University "a really close community."

David Downs, a 22-year-old senior who is graduating next week, said he had just left campus 30 minutes before the shooting.

"I'm in utter shock," said Downs, who is a point guard on the university's basketball team. "It's so unbelievable to me that this could happen on our campus. It's the last thing I would have ever thought could happen here."

"It puts things in perspective," he said. "Anything can happen, even on a small Christian campus."

Grief stricken students and first respond units.
The incident follows a spate of recent shootings on or near college campuses.

Last month, according to police, Elliot Rodger killed six people and injured seven before turning his gun on himself in a rampage in Isla Vista, California, near two universities.

Seven people were killed and three injured when a 43-year-old former student opened fire at a tiny Christian school, Oikos University, in Oakland, California, in 2012. A gunman killed five people and injured 18 when he opened fire in a Northern Illinois University lecture hall in 2008.

In 2007, 32 people were fatally shot in a dorm and classroom at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia, before the gunman, Seung-Hui Cho, killed himself.

Re-Unit?

The four members of the Unit reunited for a brief moment.

They happen to gather for Hot 97 FM's Summer Jam event that's held annually. Many hip-hop acts come together for one of the biggest concerts in the New York City.

Although the four members were together, no talk about the fifth member. Still apparently a fallout exist between the group leader Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent) and Jayecon Taylor (aka Game).

In the picture it features Christopher Lloyd (aka Lloyd Banks), David Brown (aka Young Buck), Curtis Jackson (aka 50 Cent) and Marvin Bernard (aka Tony Yayo).

They were like the Black Beetles. They were on top of their game during the rise of 50 Cent.

But somehow their egos and criminal records managed to get them bumped off Interscope.

With the first being Lloyd Banks, then followed by Tony Yayo, Young Buck and Game, 50 Cent finally took his act to the independent circuit. He left the label after disputes over Interscope pushing his album Street King Immortal into the trash bin.

Jackson released his current album Animal Ambition this week to mixed reviews.

Although this is a temporary truce, 50 Cent still fired each member of the Unit.

The only associates to the Unit are Kidd Kidd and Shawty Lo.

Each act has released a mixtape through Dat Piff, the world's most popular website for mixtape releases.
