Mamdani met with the religious leader on Friday, posting a photo of the two alongside activist Yusef Abdus Salaam.
“Today at Masjid At-Taqwa, I had the pleasure of meeting with Imam Siraj Wahhaj, one of the nation’s foremost Muslim leaders and a pillar of the Bed-Stuy community for nearly half a century,” wrote Mamdani.
Andrew Cuomo was quick to criticize Mamdani over the post, highlighting the imam’s alleged ties to the 1993 World Trade Center bombing that left six people dead.
“[Mamdani] is proud to be standing with an unindicted co-conspirator in the 93 World Trade Center terror attack that killed New Yorkers?” Cuomo told the New York Post on Saturday.
Cuomo also called attention to statements that Imam Wahhaj made against the LGBTQ community, where he suggested that if two gay men are found together, they should be killed. The imam told followers not to launch physical attacks against gay people during those remarks, records show.
“For Zohran to think that he should be mayor of New York, the capital of acceptance and tolerance and diversity, the city and the state where the gay rights movement was birthed, the place that made history in passing same-sex marriage, the disconnect is so disturbing,” said Cuomo.
Republican nominee for New York City mayor, Curtis Sliwa, also criticized Mamdani’s association with the Imam.
“The fact that Mamdani stands with this imam is disqualifying,” said Sliwa. “New York needs a mayor who protects New Yorkers from terrorism, not embraces terrorists.”
Fox News also chimed in, interviewing two retired FBI agents who investigated the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.
“Zohran Mamdani’s embrace of Siraj Wahhaj is an example of Mamdani’s ignorance of history,” retired FBI agent Frank Pellegrino said on Fox. “Either he doesn’t know who Wahhaj is or he doesn’t care. Whichever it is, Mamdani looks foolish.”
Conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer also tweeted about the photograph, noting child abuse charges against the imam’s son in 2018.
“This is what happens when we let jihadists into our country,” wrote Loomer.

Mr. Wahhaj’s name appeared on a list of alleged co-conspirators of the Wold Trade Center attack. He was never charged. The New York Times reported that the list Wahhaj appeared on has been criticized by some former terrorism prosecutors as being overly broad.
Wahhaj, the first Muslim to give the invocation before the House of Representatives, endorsed Mamdani in an Instagram post this summer.
“The same imam met with Mayor Bloomberg, met with Mayor de Blasio, campaigned alongside Eric Adams, and the only time that it became an issue of national attention was when I met with him,” Mamdani told CBS News on Sunday. “And that’s because of the fact of my faith and because I’m on the precipice of winning this election.”
Mamdani maintains a large lead in the mayoral race, with CNN’s Harry Enten declaring on Friday that the race is “pretty much over” as Mamdani enjoys an 18-point lead in the latest polling.
Mamdani also took a photo with progressive podcaster and Twitch streamer Hasan Piker.
Mamdani is a Muslim.
The Republicans continue to decline in popularity as they are responsible for the economic uncertainty, the government shutdown and chaotic policies of President Donald J. Trump.

Gaza’s fragile ceasefire faced its first major test Sunday as Israeli forces launched a wave of deadly strikes, saying Hamas militants had killed two soldiers, and an Israeli security official said the transfer of aid into the territory was halted.

Israeli regime leader Benjamin Netanyahu directed the military to take “strong action” against any ceasefire violations but didn’t threaten to return to war.
Israel’s military said militants had fired at troops in areas of Rafah city that are Israeli-controlled according to agreed-upon ceasefire lines. Again, there is no proof that Hamas committed the attack because Israel refuses to allow monitors in.
Hamas, which continued to accuse Israel of multiple ceasefire violations, said communication with its remaining units in Rafah had been cut off for months and “we are not responsible for any incidents occurring in those areas.”

Strikes in Gaza
Palestinians feared war would return to the famine-stricken territory where Israel cut off aid for over two months earlier this year after ending the previous ceasefire.
“It will be a nightmare,” said Mahmoud Hashim, a father of five from Gaza City, who appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump and other mediators to act.
Al-Awda hospital said it received 24 bodies from several Israeli strikes in the Nuseirat and Bureij camps in central Gaza.
An airstrike on a makeshift coffeehouse in Zawaida town in central Gaza killed at least six Palestinians, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry, part of the Hamas-run government. A strike in Beit Lahiya in the north killed two men, according to Shifa hospital.
Another strike hit a tent in the Muwasi area of Khan Younis in the south, killing at least four people, including a woman and two children, according to Nasser Hospital.
“Where is peace?” said Khadijeh abu-Nofal in Khan Younis, as hospital workers treated wounded children. She accompanied a young woman hurt by shrapnel.
More bodies of hostages identified
Israel identified the remains of two hostages released by Hamas overnight: Ronen Engel, a father from Kibbutz Nir Oz, and Sonthaya Oakkharasri, a Thai agricultural worker from Kibbutz Be’eri.
Both were believed to have been killed during the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel on Oct. 7, 2023, which sparked the war. Engel’s wife, Karina, and two of his three children were kidnapped and released in a November 2023 ceasefire.
Hamas in the past week has handed over the remains of 12 hostages.
Its armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, said it found the body of another hostage and would return it Sunday “if circumstances in the field” allowed. It warned that any escalation by Israel would hamper search efforts.
Israel on Saturday pressed Hamas to fulfill its ceasefire role of returning the remains of all 28 deceased hostages, saying the Rafah border crossing between Gaza and Egypt would stay closed “until further notice.” It was the only crossing not controlled by Israel before the war.
Hamas says the war’s devastation and Israeli military control of certain areas have slowed the handover. Israel believes Hamas has access to more bodies than it has returned.
Israel has released 150 bodies of Palestinians back to Gaza, including 15 on Sunday, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Israel has neither identified the bodies nor said how they died. The ministry posts photos of bodies on its website to help families attempting to locate loved ones. Some are decomposed and blackened. Some are missing limbs and teeth.
Only 25 bodies have been identified, the Health Ministry said.
Israel and Hamas earlier exchanged 20 living hostages for more than 1,900 Palestinian prisoners and detainees.

A Hamas delegation led by chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya arrived in Cairo to follow up the implementation of the ceasefire deal with mediators and other Palestinian groups.

The ministry maintains detailed casualty records that are seen as generally reliable by U.N. agencies and independent experts. Israel has disputed them without providing its own toll.
Thousands more people are missing, according to the Red Cross.
According to Israel, Hamas-led militants killed around 1,200 people, mostly civilians, and abducted 251 people in the attack that sparked the war.

In the video shared by Trump, Vance and several far right agitators shows the president referring himself as a king in a fighter jet dropping feces on protesters. This is so Isrsel, dawg.

Trump can ignore the protests all he want. It could cost the Republicans the House and the Senate if the chaos prolongs.

Rapper Aramani White was busted in London, Kentucky. The rapper caused a long back up on Interstate 75.
The reason?
White wanted to film a music video and didn't get a permit or the consideration of the thousands of motorists trying to get from place to place.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
White, whose real name is Enoch Tolbert, was arrested Sunday after police found the 31-year-old dancing on a concrete median in the center of I-75 near London, nearly 80 miles south of Lexington.
Laurel County dispatch calls obtained by Nexstar’s WDKY detailed what drivers encountered at the scene.
“There’s a van that’s on the side of the road and some people that was in the middle of the interstate; one guy was chasing a truck,” one caller said.
“OK, on foot he was? Like, chasing it on foot?” dispatch responded.
“Yeah, chasing cars on the interstate and dressed in black,” the caller responded.
According to London police, the man in the road was White, a rapper known for his song “Billie Eilish,” which debuted on Billboard’s Hot 100 in 2022.
According to PromoWest Productions, he performed at a venue connected to the production group the night before as part of the “Celebrating 20 Years of T-Pain” tour.
Police stated that it was a hazardous situation for drivers and those involved.
“There were, like, one or two that looked like they had cameras and were trying to take pictures of the individual that was, like, near the middle, like, the concrete barrier,” another caller said.
“There’s one standing on the barrier wall, dancing,” an officer noted.
“Ten-four. Copy, one’s dancing,” another responded.
White was charged with second-degree disorderly conduct and stopping/standing/parking on a limited access highway.

Officers said he admitted he was filming a music video.
Hobie Daugherty, public affairs officer for the London Police Department, said it is fortunate drivers were alert.
“That split of distraction could have changed how we’re talking about the story dramatically,” Daugherty said.
White took to social media to address the incident. He said he smiled in his mugshot because he refuses to be painted as a criminal, and the incident doesn’t deserve to be news.
Officials said it all comes down to safety, and while they are not against a rapper filming a music video on the highway, this was the wrong way to do it.
White is no longer in custody. A pre-trial conference is set for Oct. 28.
The rapper said he is not letting the legal hurdles affect his work, and that his album will be released on Halloween.

Former KISS guitarist and singer Ace Frehley passed away from a brain bleed.
Rock lost a major legend.
Ace Frehley, the original lead guitarist and founding member of the glam rock band Kiss, who captivated audiences with his elaborate galactic makeup and smoking guitar, died Thursday. He was 74.
Frehley died peacefully surrounded by family in Morristown, New Jersey, following a recent fall, according to his agent.
Family members said in a statement that they are “completely devastated and heartbroken” but will cherish his laughter and celebrate the kindness he bestowed upon others.
Kiss, whose hits included “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “I Was Made for Lovin’ You,” was known for its theatrical stage shows, with fire and fake blood spewing from the mouths of band members dressed in body armor, platform boots, wigs and signature black-and-white face paint.
Kiss’ original lineup included Frehley, singer-guitarist Paul Stanley, tongue-wagging bassist Gene Simmons and drummer Peter Criss. Frehley’s is the first death among the four founding members.
Band members took on the personas of comic book-style characters — Frehley was known as “Space Ace” and “The Spaceman.” The New York-born entertainer and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer often experimented with pyrotechnics, making his guitars glow, emit smoke and shoot rockets from the headstock.
“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley,” Simmons and Stanley said in a joint statement. “He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy.”
Born Paul Daniel Frehley, he grew up in a musical family and began playing guitar at age 13. Before joining Kiss, he played in local bands around New York City and was a roadie for Jimi Hendrix at age 18.
Kiss was especially popular in the mid-1970s, selling tens of millions of albums and licensing its iconic look to become a marketing marvel. “Beth” was its biggest commercial hit in the U.S., peaking at No. 7 on the Billboard Top 100 in 1976.
As the Kennedy Center’s new chairman, President Donald Trump named Kiss as one of this year’s honorees.

In 2024, the band sold their catalog, brand name and intellectual property to Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment Group in a deal estimated to be over $300 million.
Frehley frequently feuded with Stanley and Simmons through the years. He left the band in 1982, missing the years when they took off the makeup and had mixed success. Stanley later said they nearly replaced Frehley with Eddie Van Halen, but Vinnie Vincent assumed the lead guitar role.
Frehley performed both as a solo artist and with his band, Frehley’s Comet.
But he rejoined Kiss in the mid-1990s for a triumphant reunion and restoration of their original style that came after bands including Nirvana, Weezer and the Melvins had expressed affection for the band and paid them musical tributes.
He would leave again in 2002. When the original four entered the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014, a dispute scrapped plans for them to perform. Simmons and Stanley objected to Criss and Frehley being inducted instead of then-guitarist Tommy Thayer and then-drummer Eric Singer.
Simmons told Rolling Stone magazine that year that Frehley and Criss “no longer deserve to wear the paint.” “The makeup is earned,” he added. “Just being there at the beginning is not enough.”
KISS is doing the final gigs. They will be at the Kennedy Center in December.
Frehley and Kiss also had a huge influence on the glammy style of 1980s so-called hair metal bands including Mötley Crüe and Poison.
“Ace, my brother, I surely cannot thank you enough for the years of great music, the many festivals we’ve done together and your lead guitar on Nothing But A Good Time,” Poison front man Bret Michaels said on Instagram.
Harder-edged bands like Metallica and Pantera were also fans, and even country superstar Garth Brooks joined the band members for a recording of their “Hard Luck Woman” on a 1994 compilation.
Frehley would appear occasionally with Kiss for shows in later years. A 2023 concert at Madison Square Garden was billed as the band’s last. While Stanley and Simmons said they would not tour again, they’ve been open to the possibility of more concerts, and they’ve stayed active promoting the group’s music and memorabilia.

On December 23, 2014, he pleaded guilty to a single count of felony tax fraud, and "acknowledged committing perjury, hiring illegal immigrants, and committing wire fraud".
After initially vowing to retain his seat, Grimm announced on December 30, 2014, that he would resign from Congress effective January 5, 2015. On May 5, 2015, Daniel M. Donovan Jr. won the special election to replace Grimm. On July 17, 2015, Grimm was sentenced to eight months in prison for tax evasion. He began his prison term on September 22, 2015, after a brief delay for medical treatments.
On October 1, 2017, Grimm launched a campaign to attempt to win back his old House seat in the 11th district. On June 26, 2018, he lost in the Republican primary. Trump pardoned Grimm.
Rowland was indicted on seven counts for his role in an election fraud case where former congressional candidate Lisa Wilson-Foley, current vice chair of the Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts and her husband, Brian Foley, pleaded guilty in federal court on March 31, 2014, to illegally paying Rowland $35,000 in campaign consulting fees. He was charged with two counts of falsifying records in a federal investigation, one count of conspiracy, two counts of causing false statements to be made to the FEC, and two counts of causing illegal campaign contributions. He was convicted on all seven counts in September 2014, and was subsequently sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2015. He was released in 2018. Trump pardoned him.

She attended Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School and Rosati-Kain Academy, a private all-girls Catholic high school in St. Louis.
Attending Rhodes College, she was advised by a professor that she had too much personality to settle for her plan to become a certified public accountant. The school's handling of a series of hate crimes on campus inspired her to become a lawyer. When she got racist hate mail and her Black friends' cars were keyed she explained, "My school didn't know what to do, and they brought in The Cochran Firm, and the lawyer that helped me became my instant 'shero'. ... While we never figured out what happened, it was empowering to have her there. I saw how much help a lawyer could be to somebody at a very confusing time." She graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Arts in business administration.

She began law school at Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University before graduating from the University of Houston Law Center in 2006 with a Juris Doctor and soon passed the bar examination. She was a member of the National Bar Association and of the Dallas Black Criminal Bar Association.

Dallas is a big city and I am doubtful Williams lives in her district or even been at a public event where she is hosting either a town hall or a public forum.
Crockett seems to care about the constituents who are not working in federal government due to this shutdown which is in its third week. She is concerned that the Republicans repealing the Affordable Care Act will harm her constituents. She is concerned that Republicans gerrymandering Texas, Missouri, Indiana, California, Ohio, Florida and Wisconsin gives unfair advantages to both parties. She is not thinking about Charlie Kirk because he didn't consider her an equal.
