Only two months ago, McKinley "Mac" Phipps was granted parole after spending over 20 years in the iron college for a murder he did not commit. The 43-year old former rapper spent at least 21 years in the iron college before he was granted supervised release in June 2021.
Known as the Silent Assassin, Phipps was a part of the powerhouse music label No Limit. He had released two albums under the label. He associated with Master P, Silkk The Shocker, Mia X, Snoop Dogg and Mystikal.
The court saw his music as violent and associated his music to a murder.
In 2001, a jury found Phipps guilty of manslaughter following the shooting and killing of Barron Victor, Jr., a 19-year old man who was at a Slidell nightclub. The St. Tammany Parish prosecutors accused the former entertainer of involved in the attack.
He was sentenced to 30 years to LIFE for the conviction. Phipps and his family have long argued that he was wrongfully convicted. His case attracted national attention in 2013, when five witnesses coerced them into saying that Phipps shot Victor.
While in the iron college, Phipps mentored young inmates, avoided disciplinary trouble, pursued vocational training and held a work-release job at a shipyard in Lafourche Parish. At least twice, he applied for clemency, which allowed Democratic governor John Bel Edwards to commute or shorten a bid.
In April, Bel Edwards granted clemency to Phipps which allowed him to appear in front of a board in which they approved his release.
Once released, he must followed the 9pm-6am curfew, stay away from establishments which serve alcohol, perform six hours of community service with at-risk youth and meet with his parole officer every week.
Once out, Phipps said he was grateful to the governor and those who supported him for this day.
Phipps wants to connect to his family. While in the iron college he met his wife Angelique who stood by him throughout the whole ordeal.
Now Phipps is hoping for Bel Edwards to release his longtime friend and fellow rapper Corey Miller, known as C-Murder. The brother of Master P was also convicted with murder in a Baton Rouge bar in which a 19-year old man was killed.
Miller who maintained innocence is still awaiting a potential clemency hearing.
Columbus, Ohio is nearing 1 million residents. The U.S. Census for the first time says the white population is declining.

Washed Up 45 and Republicans are catering to white nationalism. The COVID-19 pandemic is classic white nationalism on full display. The culture wars these folks are engaged in is classic example of white outrage in modern day America. The Karen movement is on full display.
The insurrection is a direct response to white outrage and conspiracy theories about replacement.
All of these issues are factors to why we're seeing Republicans, the far-right and the far-left go completely insane in the Klan brain.
What also infuriates me is the "enablers" of this.
The Census Bureau on Thursday issued its most detailed portrait yet of how the U.S. has changed over the past decade, releasing a trove of demographic data that will be used to redraw political maps across an increasingly diverse country.
The census figures have been eagerly awaited by states, and they are sure to set off an intense partisan battle over representation at a time of deep national division and fights over voting rights. The numbers could help determine control of the U.S. House in the 2022 elections and provide an electoral edge for the next decade. The data will also shape how $1.5 trillion in federal spending is distributed each year.
The figures show continued migration to the South and Southwest and population losses in the Mississippi Delta and Appalachia. The numbers also indicate that the white population is aging and has fallen to its smallest share of the total population on record, though there are some exceptions. The share of the white population actually grew in coastal communities in the Carolinas and Virginia, as well as in counties stretching through the midsections of Georgia and Alabama. The population under age 18 is increasingly diverse.
The data comes from compiling forms filled out last year by tens of millions of Americans, with the help of census takers and government statisticians to fill in the blanks when forms were not turned in or questions were left unanswered. The numbers reflect countless decisions made over the past 10 years by individuals to have children, move to another part of the country or to come to the U.S. from elsewhere.
The release offers states the first chance to redraw their political districts in a process which is expected to be particularly brutish since control over Congress and statehouses is at stake. It also provides the first opportunity to see, on a limited basis, how well the Census Bureau fulfilled its goal of counting every U.S. resident during what many consider the most difficult once-a-decade census in recent memory.
Even before it began, the headcount was challenged by attempted political interference from the Trump administration’s failed efforts to add a citizenship question to the census form, a move that critics feared would have a chilling effect on immigrant or Hispanic participation. The effort was stopped by the Supreme Court.
The information was originally supposed to be released by the end of March, but that deadline was pushed back because of delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
The start of the 2020 census for most U.S. residents coincided with the spread of the coronavirus last year, forcing the Census Bureau to delay operations and extend the count’s schedule. Because census data is tied to where people were on April 1, 2020, the numbers will not reflect the loss of nearly 620,000 people in the U.S. who died from COVID-19.
On top of the pandemic, census takers in the West contended with wildfires, and those in Louisiana faced repeated hurricanes. Then, there were court battles over the Trump administration’s effort to end the count early that repeatedly changed the plan for concluding field operations.
Back in April, the Census Bureau released state population totals from the 2020 census showing how many congressional seats each state gets.
“Certainly, the pandemic played a big role, but we can’t forget the political interference we saw,” said Terry Ao Minnis, an official with Asian Americans Advancing Justice, an advocacy group. “I think we know that all has played a role in whether people participated or not, whether it was from fear created about participating or sheer confusion about, ‘Who is at my door? ... Should I not open my door because of COVID? Should I not open my door because of the government?’”
Communities of color have been undercounted in past censuses. The Census Bureau likely will not know how good a job it did until next year, when it releases a survey showing undercounts and overcounts. But Thursday’s release allows researchers to do an initial quality check, and it could lead to lawsuits alleging that the numbers are faulty. The Census Bureau has a program that allows elected officials to challenge the data, but it does not apply to apportionment or redistricting.
“This is our first opportunity to see if there’s any indication of an unprecedented undercount,” said Thomas Saenz, president of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF). “There always is an undercount. This census will be no different, but our concern is to make sure this isn’t hugely out of proportion to undercounts we have seen in prior censuses.”
For the first time, the numbers will not be entirely accurate at the smallest geographic levels due to a new privacy method used by the Census Bureau. The method inserts controlled errors into the data at small geographic levels, such as neighborhood blocks, in order to protect people’s identities in an era of Big Data.
Acting Census Bureau Director Ron Jarmin has warned that the process may produce weird results, such as blocks showing children living with no adults or housing units not matching the number of people living there.
Now onto Ohio.
The state has gained only 2% in population so it lost a congressional district. The state's population is 11.9 million residents. Georgia will eventually surpass Ohio in population by 2030.
Columbus is the only city in the state that has gained population. The city has one million residents.
Cincinnati is the second city to see gains. At 2010, the population is 297,000 residents. Now it's population is 313,000.
Cleveland continues the slide down. It's population was 384,000 in 2010. Now it's 372,000.

The Midwest has seen the most decline. Chicago continues to be the third largest city. But in 10 years, Houston, Texas will surpass Chicago. Phoenix has already surpassed Philadelphia as the fifth largest city.
The Midwest's largest cities are Chicago, Columbus, Indianapolis, Detroit, Milwaukee, Kansas City, Omaha, Wichita and St. Louis.
The city of New York and Los Angeles continue to be the first and second largest cities in the United States.

This is where it's going to hurt Jonathan Kirk, known to the world as DaBaby: Radio play.
As we speak, the radio stations are slowing down the music played by the rapper. After his infamous Rolling Loud Miami performance, many in the entertainment business are distancing themselves from the rapper.
He had said, "If you didn't show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two or three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up."
He added, "Fellas, if you ain't sucking duck in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up!" Later on social media, he posted that his LGBT+ fans aren't "nasty gay niggas" or "junkies" in response to the outrage.
The impact of those comments were felt. Dua Lipa demanded her song "Levitating" be pulled from rotation due to the rapper being on the remix of her song. He was pulled from Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Governors Ball, Day N Vagus, Music Midtown and the iHeartRadio Music Festival.
He offered a milquetoast apology on social media before pulling it. He wrote, "I want to apology to the LGBTQ+ community for the hurtful and triggering comments I made." He said that he wanted to further educate himself on the subject at hand.
Now it appears that his actions set of a precedent. Will the hip-hop community finally end the homophobia?
Since Lil Nas X broke into the hip-hop community as being one of the most popular LGBTQ rapper in modern history, he's face backlash from the likes of DaBaby, Raymond "Benzino" Scott, Pastor Troy, 50 Cent, T.I. and Glasses Malone.
Lil Nas X broke the internet. His video Industry Baby has streamed over 100 million.
The transphobia by 50 Cent is well known. After he "mocked" Young Buck after he was wrapped in a sex scandal involving a transwoman, he's basically been on social media still promoting transphobia.
Raymond Scott, a washed up rapper who is best known for his feud with Eminem, was recently on leftist Marc Lamont Hill's program attacking Lil Nas X and BET for hosting his set. Then he used gay slurs and misgendering a transwoman he actually flirted with on social media.
Eminem has also said homophobic remarks when he was going after Machine Gun Kelly.
Lil Nas X dethroned DaBaby in radio play and Spotify play.
The rapper had no comment on the controversy with DaBaby. However he did remark on Scott, Malone and Pastor Troy. He basically trolled them. He subliminally called them "washed up" after they remarked about him.
Hip-hop must take ownership over its own actions and stop embracing homophobia. The LGBTQ community is not taking the insults, the hate and the nastiness of these entertainers.

Black couple adopts white twin boys and the Karens often mistaken them as kidnappers.
Jennifer McDuffie-Moore and husband Harry Moore initially fostered Brayden and Trevor, three, after they were separated at birth from their biological mother, who had a drug addiction.
Foster mom shares the experience of raising two white children.
The couple officially adopted the identical twins two years later and they joined their biological children Joy, 21, and Kourtney, 11, and their adoptive kids Keenan, 10, and Sanchez, eight, in the family home in Collingdale, Pennsylvania.
One mother at a playground even threatened to call the police when the twins had a tantrum.
"A month ago, we were playing at the playground and the twins didn’t want to go home," says Jennifer.
"A lady had been watching us playing and when one of the twins had a tantrum she told me she was going to call the police."
Jennifer, an early learning specialist and co-owner of a childcare program, and Harry, a mechanic, have described racist encounters they have experienced as the Black parents of white children.
"I scooped the kids up and she thought I was stealing them. One of the twins said: 'No, that’s my mom'. I don’t want to justify it because people should mind their own business."
The couple, who started fostering in 2009, added that they have been pulled over by the police countless times while ferrying their large family around in a 12-seat minivan.
The couple first took in the twins for a weekend in July 2018 as respite care, when the twins were just three months old.

The beloved sitcom was on NBC from 1978 to 1985 and ABC in its final season. It starred Gary Coleman, Conrad Bain, Todd Bridges and Dana Plato. The show was about two Black children, Arnold and Willis Jackson whose mother was a housekeeper for the Drummond family. She passed away and wealthy businessman Philip Drummond adopted the boys to live with him and his only daughter, Kimberly.

Game show producer Mike Richards and actress Mayim Bialik will be the new hosts of the longtime quiz show. Bialik, a certified neuroscientist and actress best known for her roles on Blossom, The Big Bang Theory and Call Me Kat announced her role on social media,

Richards will be the syndicated host and Bialik will host the ABC primetime specials and be fill-in during the times Richards is on vacation.
While some were hoping that LeVar Burton, Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, Aaron Rodgers, Anderson Cooper and Savannah Guthrie would nab the role, the show played safe by hiring Richards. It was somewhat controversial because of his past duties as executive producer on The Price is Right and Let's Make A Deal. The claims of him being a monster towards workers didn't deter the promotion to become a permanent host.
Mike Richards was the leading candidate for the hosting gig.
Brian Stelter from CNN, a prominent media commentator wrote that the choices were made by Sony Entertainment.
Given the popularity of the daily syndicated show that was helmed by Alex Trebek for decades, it’s only logical that Sony wants to keep trying to expand in new directions.

At the same time, it may represent a risk for the TV studio, since the “Jeopardy!” brand may become diluted with two hosts.
Richards will continue as executive producer of “Jeopardy” when he becomes the show’s host. He filled in as a guest host for two weeks last winter, when the show introduced a series of rotating hosts that seemed to be try-outs for the permanent job.
Sony indicated on Wednesday that, contrary to social media chatter and speculation, Richards did not pick himself for the job.
Ravi Ahuja, Sony Pictures’ chair of global TV studios and corporate development, said “a senior group of Sony Pictures Television executives pored over footage from every episode, reviewed research from multiple panels and focus groups, and got valuable input from our key partners and Jeopardy! viewers. We knew early on that we wanted to divide the hosting responsibilities and it became very clear that Mike and Mayim were the undeniable choices. They were both at the top of our research and analysis.”
Richards paid tribute to Trebek, who died last November at the age of 80, in his statement on Wednesday.
Fans were calling for LeVar Burton to host the show. Burton is best known for his role in Star Trek: The Next Generation and Reading Rainbow.
“Alex believed the game itself and the contestants are the most important aspects of the show,” he said. “I was fortunate to witness his professionalism, intensity and kindness up close and that will serve as the ultimate blueprint as we continue to produce the show we love.”
Bialik called the new job hosting prime time editions of the show “one of the most exciting and surreal opportunities of my life.”
“I’m so grateful and excited to continue to work with Mike Richards, and I’m just over the moon to join forces with him and Sony,” she said.
One of the other contenders for the host job, “Jeopardy” genius Ken Jennings, will continue to serve as a consulting producer on the show.
