Colbert's Surprise Return To Monroe!

CBS ruffled by Colbert hosting a parody of his former show.

Stephen Colbert may have lost his late night program but the comedian is not done.

He has made a surprise return to the independent circuit and CBS is big mad.

Only in Monroe, a real public access program had Colbert return to hosting. He had famed Michigan celebrities Jeff Daniels, Jack White and Eminem as his guests.

On Thursday, the Late Show came to an emotional end. Colbert and his final guest, Sir. Paul McCartney have made a public diss of Larry and his son David Ellison.

CBS immediately filled the gap by adding Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed, a syndicated program that promises to keep it about jokes and not politics.

Paramount Skydance was trying to pull Only in Monroe programs because they wanted to claim them as segments of The Late Show.

The episode also included appearances by the regular hosts of the show, Michelle Baumann and Kaye Lani Rafko-Wilson. Together with Colbert and White, they cheers with shots of River Raisin Distillery spirits "to Michigan and all of its lakes and tributaries." Later, they imbibe in shots of helium while discussing Baumann's experience with cancer. She is in remission, she said on the show.

Monroe, a city located in southern Michigan is a midpoint between Detroit and Toledo.

It has a population of 22,000 residents.

Colbert's final show drew nearly 11 million.
