Media mogul Ryan Seacrest under fire. He is being accused by his former stylist of sexual abuse. Expect more accusers. |
Will he be on the red carpet for the Oscars?
Ryan Seacrest, the host of American Idol and co host of Live! with Kelly & Ryan is in some real deep shit right now. His former hairstylist is coming forth with allegations of sexual harassment and abuse.
He also has a contract with E! Network, the sponsoring network covering the Oscars Red Carpet Show.
Suzie Hardy comes forth to tell Variety that Seacrest abused her for years. |
Since her departure from E!, Hardy has left the entertainment industry and now works for a San Francisco-based tech company. Seacrest — already a ubiquitous host and powerful television producer at the time that Hardy worked for him — has seen his star continue to rise. Last year, he became the new co-host of Kelly Ripa’s widely watched ABC daytime talk show, renamed “Live With Kelly & Ryan.” This year he is returning to the role that launched him to national notoriety as host of “American Idol,” currently filming in Los Angeles and set to premiere in March on ABC. His production company has an overall deal with ABC Studios.
Ryan Seacrest joined Kelly Ripa in 2017. Live! with Kelly and Ryan have surged in ratings. |
“I came from a freelance life, and it was scary,” she told Variety. “It was hard to raise a child and not know where your next check was going to come from, and if that gig was going to take me out of town for two weeks. It was a better deal all the way around, even if I was being abused. It’s sick to say, but it was true.”
Seacrest hosts Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve with SiriusXM host Jenny McCarthy. |
Variety exclusively obtained a copy of a November letter and spoke on multiple occasions with Hardy and her attorney. The letter is a well detailed.
It outlines numerous incidents of harassment and assault allegedly perpetrated by Seacrest over the years she worked as a stylist.
Seacrest also works for E! Network in regards to being an executive producer of Keeping Up With The Kardashians. He also has contracts with iHeartMedia to promote his syndicated radio program. He also has a role at Dick Clark Productions for Rockin' New Year's Eve with Jenny McCarthy and Fergie.
All of this could be gone.
Remember the #MeToo Movement. It was really effective in ridding the world of sexual abusers Matt Lauer, Bill O'Reilly, Kevin Spacey, Charlie Rose, Al Franken, Roy Moore, LA Reid, R. Kelly and Harvey Weinstein. It will claim Seacrest if other women come forth.
Start believing the women.
