It appears that the race to replace Marcia Fudge is becoming a national story. The race is now between two Black women and the future of the Democratic Party. Which way should the party go?

Which agenda should the Democrats align with?

Former Ohio state senator and former Bernie Sanders presidential advisor Nina Turner is facing off against Cuyahoga County councilwoman Shontel Brown. The two are now using these last weeks for their closing messages. Turner is pushing on name recognition and policies like the Green New Deal, Medicare for All and ending college debt. Brown is pushing for internet access to communities, ending gun violence, food deserts, voter suppression and improving Cleveland and Akron.

As I stated earlier, I endorse Shontel Brown for Congress. She is prepared to take on the challenges for Ohio's 11th Congressional District. 

I believe that her local ties and her support of President Joe Biden's agenda will help her in the end.

Turner on the other hand, has name recognition and a national profile. She has embraced the policies of Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Turner has also embraced their endorsements and the donations from online supporters. 

Ocasio-Cortez, Democratic lawmaker from New York speaks on behalf of Turner and is trying to rally support for her.

Turner initially in the lead and perceived a frontrunner saw her poll numbers drop. Now she's trying to revert to baseless allegations and conspiracies.

The tensions are there between the two. The Turner campaign has called Brown's record as a councilwoman indistinguishable and made claims that she benefited from granting contracts to her boyfriend and family members.

Brown said that Turner is more focused on getting soundbites and not focusing on real issues in the distirct.

The race is tightening and many will come out and vote for either two women in a relatively safe district for Democrats. With Tim Ryan willing to give up his seat for a run at the U.S. Senate, the Democrats are banking on a candidate who won't be an anchor.

The race is almost over and it's expected to be a nail biter. Turner lead collapsed.

Turner is that anchor.

As many of you read on Journal de le Reyna, I've posted many stories on Turner. From the insufferable supporters of Bernie Sanders to the current race, Turner represents the controversial problems the Democratic Party is facing. How far should the party go without losing voters? I mean Washed Up 45 has a 90% approval rating with Republicans. Even though he is no longer in office, he still is trolling with large rallies and pushing conspiracies to generate buzz for a 2024 run. 

With Republicans capitalizing off of fear-mongering and the culture war, Turner could hurt the Biden agenda and progressive movement. She will be a distraction and an ineffective leader who appears more on television, radio and the internet. She would be an activist not a lawmaker. It will hurt the progressive movement and it will certainly not get things back to normal.

If you live in Ohio's 11th Congressional District, please vote in the election. Vote for Shontel Brown.

She will be the perfect candidate to represent Cleveland, Akron and the region. She is not perfect and does have controversial issues attached to her, but she's far better than Turner. 

Turner is too much of an activist. She will be the anchor tied to the Democrats neck. She will be too polarizing and it will make it difficult for Tim Ryan, the moderate running for U.S. Senate to win. It will also make Republicans redistrict the area to make Turner and Marcy Kaptur fight over the district.

Turner will cost Democrats in Ohio seats because she's tied to Sanders, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar, Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib. They have no accomplishments as lawmakers. I respect their passion but they need to work on fixing the problems and help President Joe Biden succeed.

The Cleveland Baseball Team officially has a new name. 

Major League Baseball has confirmed that the Cleveland Indians are no more. It will be named as the Cleveland Guardians. The Cleveland baseball club was founded in 1915 and is considered one of the longest active of the 30 current Major League Baseball teams.

The team was known in the beginning as the Grand Rapid Rustlers, the Cleveland Lake Shores, the Cleveland Bluebirds, the Cleveland Bronchos, the Cleveland Naps and finally the Cleveland Indians.

The Guardians will debut in the 2021-22 season. 

The move will certainly drive the far-right nuts. After all, they're invested their time in the "Great Culture War." 

Washed Up 45 has already weighed in the change of the team.

“Can anybody believe that the Cleveland Indians, a storied and cherished baseball franchise since taking the name in 1915, are changing their name to the Guardians? Such a disgrace, and I guarantee that the people who are most angry about it are the many Indians of our Country. Wouldn’t it be an honor to have a team named the Cleveland Indians, and wouldn’t it be disrespectful to rip that name and logo off of those jerseys?  The people of Cleveland cannot be thrilled and I, as a FORMER baseball fan, cannot believe things such as this are happening. A small group of people, with absolutely crazy ideas and policies, is forcing these changes to destroy our culture and heritage. At some point, the people will not take it anymore!”

White House press secretary Jan Psaki was asked about the name change and the former president.

She basically said that the White House supports the change and isn't concerned about what the former president (tweets) or whatever he decides to throw out in a press release.

The Cleveland baseball franchise finally conceded to the longstanding racism of the previous name and logo. The Indians and Chief Woo-Hoo were controversial from the start. It depicted Native Americans in a negative light and it was over 100 years before they can finally decided to change the name.

Also a few white nationalists and enablers decided to get into the matter.

Karen Cruz, the senator from Texas as usual being a troll.

The former Ohio state treasurer and crossdresser Karen Mandel decided to throw his opinion into the matter.

Both Republicans are upset over an offensive logo and namesake being permanently retired.

By the way, the special election to replace Marcia Fudge is active. There are 13 candidates in the race but it seems like two candidates are emerging as the top tiers.

So it appears that Stephen Harmon learned the hard way of not following the CDC guidelines and taking the opportunity to get vaccinated.

Now with a deadly variant spreading in almost every state and territory in the United States, President Joe Biden is weighing his decisions on whether on shutting down the country again.

Stephen decided to criticize the vaccinations and the president's handling.

He even quoted Jay-Z's "99 Problems" when it comes to vaccination.

He made memes about trusting the Bible over Dr. Anthony Fauci. But in late July, Harmon wrote that he was "on max oxygen" and "struggling to function." 

His final tweet July 21 asked supporters to pray for him as he was about to be intubated: "Don't know when i'll wake up, please pray." 

The causalities of the culture war.

Brian Houston, the president of Hillsong Church, announced on Instagram, "Stephen was just a young man in his early 30’s. He was a graduate from Hillsong College and a vital part of our church in California. He was one of the most generous people I know and he had so much in front of him. He would always turn up to our grandkids soccer games and he will be missed by so many. RIP."

According to the CDC, there is still not enough information on antibodies for COVID-19 and whether they can prevent someone from getting reinfected. It still recommends that people with a positive antibody test follow recommendations for protecting themselves and others.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

I believe we will lose over 1 million Americans by the end of year. You will lose friends, family members, co-workers, well-known celebrities, lawmakers and those in your community thanks to the coronavirus.

The delta variant and lambda strain of coronavirus are already in the United States. Those who are unvaccinated are more at risk of catching this. The risk of death now increases to 48% of those infected and not fully vaccinated. 

Karen Valentine is a Nashville talk radio host who is on Westwood One. He is a far-right agitator who has been very critical of President Joe Biden's COVID-19 handling and has encouraged his million of listeners to not take the vaccine. Even though, he claims he's not an anti-vaxxer, he's certainly gave Americans the impression he is.

Valentine is the son of former six-term Democratic U.S. Representative Tim Valentine of North Carolina, but is nonetheless a self-described conservative. His father was a Blue Dog Democrat, a coalition of conservative Democrats who vote with the Reagan Revolution.

His brother posted a heartfelt message to the fans saying his brother is struggling and it's a difficult course ahead. 

The family urged people to get vaccinated.

“Phil would like for his listeners to know that while he has never been an ‘anti-vaxer’ he regrets not being more vehemently ‘Pro-Vaccine’, and looks forward to being able to more vigorously advocate that position as soon as he is back on the air, which we all hope will be soon,” the family’s statement read.

“Phil & his family would like for all of you to know that he loves y'all and appreciates your concern, thoughts & prayers more than you will ever know. Please continue to pray for his recovery and PLEASE GO GET VACCINATED!”

According to the statement, the Nashville, Tennessee, SuperTalk 99.7 WTN host was breathing with assistance in a critical care unit, but was not on a ventilator.

The host revealed he had COVID on social media on July 12, writing: "Yes, the rumors are true. I have COVID. Unfortunately for the haters out there, it looks like I'm going to make it. Interesting experience. I'll have to fill you in when I come back on the air. I'm hoping that will be tomorrow, but I may take a day off just as a precaution. It'll be a game time decision."

Valentine has been publicly skeptical about all adults receiving the COVID vaccine. In his latest Facebook post on July 16, he questioned the safety of vaccines. Two days prior he wrote he was feeling better, and claimed without evidence "there are some very effective alternatives to the vaccine," and told those who are at high risk of dying from COVID to consider getting vaccinated.

In June, he shared a parody song on Twitter called Vaxman, which spoke about personal freedoms.

According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, COVID vaccines are safe and effective and "millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intense safety monitoring in U.S. history." As of Thursday, 162.2 million in the U.S. had been vaccinated against COVID.

Valentine's colleagues have sent him well-wishes in light of his condition.

Brian Wilson, who also hosts a radio show on SuperTalk 99.7 WTN, wrote on Facebook: "Please join me in praying for Phil's complete recovery. I know Phil and his family would deeply appreciate your prayers on his behalf."

Pamela Furr, radio news anchor at SuperTalk 99.7 WTN, wrote on Facebook: "Also pray for all of us at WTN as well. It is no joke that we are ALL family here.. so when one of us hurts, we are ALL hurting. Phil is strong.. and God is in control. His mighty angels are around him fighting this evil virus.. This is where we find peace."

Last year, former presidential candidate and far-right agitator Herman Cain fucked around and found out. He went to the infamous Tulsa, Oklahoma rally for Washed Up 45 and ended up contracting the coronavirus. He died 25 days later after being admitted to the hospital.

A Michigan woman did her own detective work and managed to nab a carjacker who was getting his hair braided. She called her boyfriend and his buddies and they dragged his ass out by the braids to the awaiting Detroit Metropolitan Police.

It could only be a funny story if it this was a movie. It's real and the suspect is in Wayne County lockup because of it.

He stole the woman's car out of a shopping center in west Detroit. For three days, he was driving it around and using as a chick magnet. He also spent a few dollars to get the vehicle detailed.

Bianca Chambers said for two days, she tracked her car throughout the city until Wednesday when the man parked her car and went to get his hair done. That's when she confronted the thief.

"At that point, I was like…I’m not letting this man walk again," she said.

She walked into a barbershop at Greenfield and Grand River and was face-to-face with the guy she says stole her new Benz and asked him point-blank - is that his Benz? When he denied it, she took him down.

Michigan woman documented her "citizen's arrest" of a carjacker.

"He’s at 7 Days West, getting his dreds (sic) twisted," she said in a Facebook live while watching her car.

Customers then stepped in to make a citizen's arrest while Bianca, sick of seeing him drive off in her car, slashed her own tires! Then she called the police.

"I slashed all the tires and I thought that he was gonna take off and I didn't know how long it was going to take for the police to pull up. And I refused to let him pull off again," she said.

Detroit Police say officers responded four times to Bianca’s 911 calls as she tracked the car using a web of social media tips. But by the time they got there, the car was gone.  

At one point as she tracked the bold thief around, he even made a pit stop at the strip mall where she owns a boutique.

"They was driving, they was having a good time, they was smoking but, yes, when I got my car, it was very clean," Bianca said.

And why was it so clean? He got it detailed.

FOX 2 sources said the thief has a history of car thefts since he was teen. His name has not been released.

"You're just the dumbest criminal, that's all. You're joyriding in my car like nobody was going to see," Bianca said.

In the video, Bianca is tearfully saying that the Detroit Police didn't take her concerns seriously. She literally is telling the viewers on Facebook Live that she saw the law pass her by more than once even though she called numerous times to report the vehicle and the suspect were in the area.

She did a risky move by confronting a thief. Given that the thief was at his weakest moment being in a chair being braided, he didn't see the woman coming for him. She and her boyfriend could have been criminally charged with assault if the suspect press charges against them.

Only two years ago, this moron on the left and his partner were caught stealing a vehicle out of Dearborn.

Yet he was smart not to do that. Given that Michigan is a "no fault" state where if he decided to damage her vehicle, she will still be footed with the bill. On top of that, it's a castle doctrine state where even if the vehicle was stolen from property and located later, the person can use deadly force against the thief.

The suspect is being charged and will face grand theft. He will also be charged for violating possibly his probation by being caught again.

If you do see someone attempting to take your vehicle, do not approach the suspect. It's best to not confront a person who may have a tire iron, knife, firearm, the vehicle in drive or reverse. Let them take the vehicle but make sure you get the license plate or image of the thieves safely. 

Lock your doors and windows.

Do not leave children or pets in a vehicle. If you are caught with children or pets in a vehicle, the law could charge you with neglect. 

Do not leave the keys in the vehicle or the ignition running with keys in the engine.

Hackers can get into wireless entry vehicles. It's best to makes sure you hear the click and beep before leaving your vehicle.

Do not leave valuables in the vehicle. 

Don't risk your life over property. The thieves will get caught, because they're sloppy in their work and usually they will make a mistake whenever they commit acts of theft. Do not take action into your own hands. You could face criminal charges if you harm the suspect.

The suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The U.S. Department of Justice is planning on dealing with not only gun violence but the thefts of catalytic converters.

Americans are seeing a rise of car thefts by catalytic converters being cut off vehicles. 

In recent years, the values of all three metals have spiked, with rhodium valued at $14,500 an ounce in December, palladium at $2,336 an ounce and platinum fetching $1,061, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau, a nonprofit devoted to combating insurance fraud and vehicle theft.

People going to their cars and hearing that loud noise and wondering why it's making that sound can thank the converter. It's a device that keeps the toxic gas and pollutants in check. It is often used with internal combustion engines fueled by gasoline, diesel and kerosene heaters. The devices look like a muffler and are attached to a vehicle's emissions system. They're increasingly coveted by thieves because they contain platinum, palladium or rhodium, precious metals that help convert hazardous exhaust emitted by an engine into less harmful gases. 

The catalytic converter has metals that are expensive and you can get paid for one of these devices.

That's why it's on the rise. 

Many cities in the country are reporting that thefts of catalytic converters are up 500%. 

The thieves managed to get cheap power tools and an a hydraulic lift to get underneath the vehicle.

In California, a man was crushed to death by a car after he tried to steal a catalytic converter.

Within a minute or two, the thieves would saw off the catalytic converter and soon disappear into the city. When you wake up in the morning, leave your job or leave a store, you're surprised to hear the noise and wondering what the fuck happened to your vehicle.

When you look down and see damage underneath, you know you been struck by the thieves.

They would head to a scrap yard and sell the part for up to $500. You will be stuck with a hefty bill totaling over $1,000 and a high deductible from your insurer.

Many states are going to make catalytic converter theft a felony. If the states do pass legislation, the thieves could face up 5 years in the iron college if convicted. Mind you that it's hard to catch these thieves because it's hard to prove they've stole it.

But here's tips to prevent it.

First, make you paint your converter with a bright color. It will be easy to detect if was stolen.

Second have your mechanic carve initials or the vin number into the catalytic converter.

Third, get a protective shield to cover your engine. The thieves would spent more time would likely abandon the attempt if there's obstacles in the way.

Make sure you're parked in a well lit area.

With Ring cameras around, many thieves are trying to elude being seen on camera. Make sure you have a Ring or Blink camera (or a HD resolution home security camera) placed in a driveway or garage.

Never leave valuables in your car or glove compartment. 

Keep your doors locked and windows rolled up.

If you do have a Rexel Dash Camera (or HD resolution dash camera) make sure it's active. If any vibration comes to the vehicle, the dash camera will activate.

Law enforcement agencies and county officials require scrap yards and recycling centers to keep a record of intakes of certain items. The catalytic converter is a top priority on law enforcement's radar. 

The thieves must present a proper identification, license plate and phone number before they are to sell their converters to the scrap yard or recycling company. If the law is tipped to the theft, they will immediately notify these companies to be on the lookout for a person(s) trying to sell off numerous converters within a period of five days. Not all law enforcement agencies are doing it. In major cities like New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Sacramento, San Francisco, Seattle and Atlanta, it's required that law enforcement be notified of large hauls of catalytic converters. Thieves often use unwilling dolts to take the converters to scrap yards on the promise of getting a cut.

If you do see someone attempting to take your catalytic converter, do not approach them. It's best to not confront a person who has a power saw, blow torch, knife or firearm. Let them take it but make sure you get the license plate or image of the thieves safely.
