Former Bush Presser Says "Bitches" Deserve To Get Their Asses Hit!

Dana Perino's latest outburst gotten attention!
Of course that's not what Dana Perino said, but it's pretty much sums up how she describes the situation that lead to the murder-suicide of NFL player Jovan Belcher and the mother of his child, Kassandra Perkins.

They're still not getting this! I mean this has to be one of the most ignorant political party out there! I am seriously thinking that the next election inspires the Democrats to aggressively target individuals who continue to be obstruction to progress.

Dana Perino said some of the most dumbest things over the past few years, but tonight I think this one has gone too far. The former press secretary under George W. Bush has been given a cushy job over at Fox News. As the head moderator and host of The Five, she along with four other commentators are debating current event issues. The things she said tonight has many people shocked.

Dana Perino suggested female victims of violence should "make better decisions" in order to escape harm.

The comment came during a discussion about the murder of 22-year-old Kasandra Perkins, who was killed by her boyfriend, NFL player Jovan Belcher. On Saturday, Belcher shot his girlfriend repeatedly, and then drove to the Kansas City Chiefs' facility, where he killed himself.
2008-12-16-capt.a2ae89c1bd75474592ccde0431a63133.bush_whre101.jpg
When she was then president George W. Bush's Press Secretary she got hit with a microphone in December 2008. While in Iraq, a journalist threw a pair of shoes at the president.
The couple was reportedly having problems for months. According to the police, Kansas City Chiefs officials were aware of the ongoing strife and even provided the couple with counseling.

In the aftermath of the murder-suicide, NBC Sports' Bob Costas took the opportunity to advocate for better gun control. "If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today," he said, quoting another columnist during a halftime segment on NBC's "Sunday Night Football."

On Fox News' "The Five," the hosts argued the opposite, suggesting that if women in domestic violence situations were armed, they'd be able to protect themselves better.

Perino, the former White House press secretary, offered a slightly different approach.
Tragic case: Belcher shot Perkins dead at their home on Saturday before shooting himself
Jovan Belcher and Kassandra Perkins in happy times!

"I think it skirts the issue," she said. "Women are victims of violence all the time."

The Fox News Channel is practically scrambling after perennial loser Mitt Romney loss. And by getting Karl Rove and Dick Morris out the picture, it's a start.

Could this controversy by Perino be her death null with Fox News?

The Daily Mail also reports that Perino isn't the first commentator to draw the ire of viewers in discussing the touchy subject of gun rights and domestic violence in the aftermath of Belcher's murder-suicide.

Fox Sports commentator Bob Costas angered viewers when he suggested that stricter gun laws might have prevented the crime.

Costas praised a column by sports writer Jason Whitlock and told his viewers, "In the coming days, Jovan Belcher's actions and their possible connection to football will be analyzed. Who knows? But here, wrote Jason Whitlock, is what I believe."

"If Jovan Belcher didn't possess a gun, he and Kasandra Perkins would both be alive today."

Costas later defended his remarks, saying he didn't have enough time to explain himself and that he was misunderstood.

"What I was trying to say was, that if you want some perspective on this, there are a number of issues related to [Belcher's murder-suicide] that we could begin to talk about and think about,' Costas told sports radio host Dan Patrick. 'The problem was that I didn't have enough time to get to many of them. And that, I think, was my mistake to be quite honest."

NYPD Search For Guy Who Push Man Into Subway Train!

NYPD is looking for suspect in the murder of Ki Suk Han. The man was pushed to his death when a subway approached.
We here at Journal de la Reyna want to send our condolences to Ki Suk Han. He was killed after a confrontation by another man in the New York City Public subway.

Who said riding the public transportation saves money?

I say it's more dangerous for anyone riding the public transportation.

Artis Hughes punches Shi'dia Lane after the woman verbally and physically assaulted him on his bus.
Men and women get robbed by individuals while waiting at the bus stop. Graffiti marks every train, bus, traffic sign or building. It's not fair! You're not safe riding public transportation. Earlier a Cleveland, Ohio bus driver assaulted a passenger, Shi'dia Lane, after she verbally abused the driver and shoved him. Artis Hughes  got arrested for the assault. He was also suspended with eventually fired by the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority. The story made it on The Drudge Report and the Huffington Post. Each news agitator has picked a side. And of course the situation also merited the word salad of racial slurs and Obama.

And of course, this will have the White men in the conservative media angry at that Black "thug" who pushed that innocent Asian man into the path of an oncoming subway train.

NYPD officials are searching for a man suspected of pushing a Queens father onto the subway tracks where he was fatally struck by an oncoming train on Monday.
ki suk han dead
Time to take a picture! But not enough time to save a man's life! This is what Rupert Murdoch's newspaper does!
The New York Post reports the victim, identified as 58-year-old Ki Suk Han, was attempting to "protect fellow straphangers from a deranged man" at the 49th Street station when he was suddenly shoved onto the tracks by the suspect.

Bystanders frantically waved and yelled, trying to halt the oncoming Q train from hitting Han, but their attempts proved futile.

"He got caught between the train and the edge of the platform," said William Van Alstyne, who witnessed the horrifying scene. "He got caught between the train and the edge of the platform. He got dragged. You could see the trail of blood from where he got hit to where he stopped.”

A Post freelance photographer happened to be on the platform and captured the moment just before Han's death. In the photo you can see Han trying to hoist himself up onto the platform, as the train comes barreling towards him. Umar Abbasi says he attempted to warn the train conductor by flashing his camera, but to no avail.

Before the incident, onlookers say the suspect and Han exchanged heated words.

NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said the suspect was believed to have been "talking to himself" and most likely instigated a fight with Han.

"At least one witness felt that the aggressor was emotionally disturbed," Browne said.

Han was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital where he was pronounced dead. He is survived by a wife and college-aged daughter.

Officials released this image of the man believed to be the attacker who pushed Han:

Our question to those who read the bold words, why take the picture when you could have helped the man get off the tracks?

Is a freaking photo more important than a life?

Cleveland Mom Arrested In Death Of Missing Son!

Emilliano Terry was killed by his own mother. The little boy made national news after it was reported by his mother Camilia Terry that he was abducted by a stranger at a park.
We here at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the young boy Emilliano Terry.

Tragedy in the state of Ohio. In the city of Cleveland, there were reports of a missing young boy. The missing boy made the national news. People were searching around Cuyahoga County for the child. It was reported by the mother, Camilia Terry.

The police were convinced that the statements made by the mother weren't constant with the case.

They had a garbage truck tracked and ordered the company Waste Management to watch for any actions from the mother.

Newsnet 5 Cleveland, ABC affiliate reports the Cleveland mom has been arrested in the death of her 3-year-old son after police found what they believe is the body of the young boy at a waste-treatment plant, according to authorities.

Cleveland police said Monday they're holding Camilia Terry, 20, at Cuyahoga County Jail to await charges in the death of her son, Emilliano Terry.
Camilia Terry, Emilliano Terry, Kossuth Park_20121126115938_JPG
Camilia Terry was arrested in the death of her son. The mother of three misled the public on the whereabouts of her son.
"We come here with heavy hearts, I'm sure you understand. Today, at approximately 4 o'clock, a body of a small child matching the description of Emilliano Terry was discovered at a waste treatment plant in Oakwood Village," Cleveland Police Chief Michael McGrath said, according to ABC News affiliate WEWS-TV.

"So, in other words, right now, currently, we are treating this as a homicide, rather than a missing person or abduction."

An autopsy will be performed later today to determine how Terry died.

Camilia Terry told police her son vanished Sunday just after 5 p.m. as she was pushing one of her other children on a swing in Kossuth Park.

"I'm calling you because I'm at a park and my son is missing," Terry told a 911 dispatcher.

"How long has it been since you last saw him?" a 911 operator asked.

"Fifteen minutes ago. I was looking everywhere for him, I can't find him," the mother of three told the dispatcher while sobbing.

Police and the FBI began searching for the boy Sunday. A volunteer group, the Guardian Angels, searched garages and abounded homes in the area, according to WEWS.

While the authorities where in Terry's neighborhood Monday, they noticed a garbage truck leaving the family's home, Det. Ed Tomba told reporters at a news conference Monday evening.

Police took down the truck's information and contacted Waste Management Inc. FBI agents went to the facility and found a body believed to be Emilliano inside trash bags, according to police.

Cleveland Police Commander Deon McCauley said Camilia Terry's story changed during questioning Monday.
Body found at Waste Management Center in Cleveland.
"Some time during the day, of today, the statements of Miss. Terry became very inconsistent and we decided that we would further investigate her involvement in this situation," he said.

Officers told WEWS that Terry has not admitted to any crime. Her other two children are now with Cuyahoga County Children and Family Services.

Cleveland police said they plan to search the family's home again, according to WEWS.

Earlier, Cleveland police have released the 911 call from Camilia Terry reporting her 3-year-old son missing from Kossuth Park on Sunday.

"I'm calling you because I'm at a park and my son is missing," the 20-year-old mother tells a 911 dispatcher.

Clearly upset, Camilia has trouble explaining which park they're at, with the dispatcher asking her to spell the name of the park that she sees on the sign.

"Kossuth," the woman spells out.

Camilia then describes her 3-year-old son Emilliano Terry to the dispatcher.

"He's wearing a red and black sweater with blue jeans and black and blue tennis shoes. He got a gray coat," Camilia explains.

Dispatcher: How long has it been since you last saw him?

Camilia: 15 minutes ago. I was looking everywhere for him and I can't find him.

The dispatcher tells her to stay at the park until police get there.

Dispatcher: Was there anyone else around?

Camilia: No, it was just me and my two other kids.

Still crying, Camilia hangs up with 911 after they tell her police are en route.

The young boy was reported missing around 5:05 p.m. Sunday. Camilia said she was pushing her 5-year-old in a swing and when she turned around Emilliano was gone.

The FBI is now involved in the search. They, along with Cleveland police, are looking at surveillance videos from nearby businesses to see what the cameras caught and corroborate the story.

This issue contributes to the ongoing coverage of missing people. One in particular is missing white woman syndrome (MWWS). Many critics say that the disproportionate degree of coverage in television, radio, newspaper and magazine reporting of an adversity, most often a missing person case, involving a young, white, upper-middle class (frequently blonde) woman or girl is unbelievable.

This degree of coverage is usually contrasted with cases concerning a missing male, or missing females of other ethnicities, socioeconomic classes or physical attractiveness

Everybody Hates Chris!

Washed up pop singer Chris Brown is up to his head up to water in another controversy. He's not only bringing attention to himself but the people who associate with him.

He and his on-and-off girlfriend fellow pop singer Rihanna have been irking the media for years!

Both celebrities are showing out in the public. Rihanna's topless and nude photos were leaked out.

Chris Brown gets into a heated exchange with a person on Twitter.

Comedian Jenny Johnson and Brown are feuding and it's gotten the attention of most of America.
Pictures leaked online of Rihanna naked.
Chris Brown can't escape his forever etched name in stone with domestic abuse. Since 2009, the pop singer has brought upon himself a whole of negative attention after he assaulted Rihanna (Robyn Fenty) before they were to perform at the Grammy Awards.

Chris Brown was given five years of probation for this incident. Since then, Brown had a few run ins with not only the media but the law.

Brown is currently engaged in a feud with Canadian rapper/singer Drake (Aubrey Graham). Drake dropped a verse about Rihanna and Chris Brown's feud and talked about his experience with her. Brown got into a fight with Drake in a New York club after they exchanged heated words at one another.

Jenny Johnson makes light of Chris Brown's problems. Brown caught wind of it! He first goes after her Jenny Johnson after a nasty Twitter exchange with Brown.

The 23-year-old singer responded to the comedian's tweets, in which she called him a "piece of sh*t," by telling her to perform oral sex on him and then threatened to defecate in her eye.

The Twitter feud resulted in Brown deactivating his Twitter account for a matter of hours, and in his absence some of his fans took it upon themselves to issue death threats to Johnson.

Jenny Johnson.
"Do u wanna know what im gonna do now ? Im gonna kill that Jenny Johnson for making Chris delete his twitter," wrote @NellyBreezy_, who also later deleted her own account."

Her sentiments were echoed by, @NinaBreezy16, who tweeted: "@JennyJohnsonHi5 whore bitch. if chris kill you i will have more respect of him .."

Likewise, anther fan using the handle @_Haineko_ wrote, "super mad right now if i see that jenny johnson i'll stab her to death."

And it's hard to believe, but a fan with the handle @rockykane9 wrote, "@JennyJohnsonHi5 I'M GONNA F*CKING RAPE & KILL YOU OLD WHORE F*CK"

Johnson hasn't been scared off by the numerous replies she's received, which have mostly told her to "eat a dick," but she did tweet that she's "alarmed" by how many death threats she's received and is encouraging everyone, "including @Twitter to look through them. Not cool."

Brown's fans have stuck by him no matter what, and some of the female members of Team Breezy, made headlines for tweeting statements, including " I'd let Chris Brown beat me up anytime ;) #womanbeater," and "Chris brown can beat me any dayyyyy damn he's so sexy," referencing his infamous assault on Rihanna in 2009.

And it's not the first time his fans have threatened someone who criticized him via Twitter. In May, Team Breezy made death threats against John Legend’s fiancée, model Chrissy Teigen, after she made comments about his performance at the Billboard Music Awards -- though to his credit, Brown actually asked his fans to stop sending death threats:

"Team Breezy! Lets stop sending death threats!" Brown tweeted back in May. "I know y'all bout that life but it's the wrong message! Ur turning haters into victims!"

So now his millions of stans are threatening people with death online!

Great. More controversy!

Add on the controversial pictures of a nude Rihanna and we have a real party going on around here.

TMZ reports that Chris Brown and Drake will NOT face criminal charges stemming from their alleged involvement in a massive nightclub brawl this summer in NYC -- law enforcement sources tell TMZ, there just isn't enough evidence to move forward with the case. According to law enforcement sources, the investigation into the bottle-smashing brawl at WIP nightclub on June 14th has been concluded and no criminal charges will be filed against Chris, Drake, or any member of their entourages. There will be no further investigation.

White Students Mock Chris Brown/Rihanna Incident In Blackface!

Troubling: This image taken during a Waverly High Schoo pep rally shows three students in blackface making light of a highly publicized 2009 domestic violence case involving Rihanna and Chris Brown
High school students mock Chris Brown incident in blackface.
Chris Brown fires back at his critics in a cocky song called "Please Don't Judge Me". The controversial pop star is reportedly back with his former beau fellow controversial pop star Rihanna.

The 2009 incident ended on a sour note when they got into it. Chris Brown was arrested for domestic violence when he assaulted Rihanna.

After the breakup, the singers traded subliminal jabs at one another. Also they've gotten controversial tattoos that got the public wondering if this feud was getting serious.

The Barbadian singer is signed to Def Jam when her mentor Jay-Z held whelm of the record label. Her successful crossover from reggae singer to pop icon has brought her chart acclaimed success. But out of the studio and in the public eye, many see Rihanna's party lifestyle just as controversial as her rebound with Chris Brown.

I've all but written off Chris Brown as a washed up celebrity. He's not bringing on the massive fandom as successors such as Justin Bieber and Drake. He's pretty much making more and more mistakes that's putting him front and center in the news.

This story has to do with the troubled pop stars. Out of upstate New York some high school students revisit the 2009 incident in which Brown punched and kicked Rihanna on their way to the Grammy's Awards.

They decided this act would be a part of their "spirit week" in which students show their pride for their alum matter.

Waverly High School is in the town of the same name. The town is north of New York by a few hours. The population is nearly 100% White.

At least one of the students is holding back the umbrella-wielding Chris Brown impersonator as the student portraying Rihanna is cowering on the floor.

Students who attended the pep rally appear to be smiling and laughing in reaction to the skit.

Many across the spectrum look upon this with outrage. The hip-hop community and women's rights groups are probably up in arms about this skit.

For one, domestic violence against a person isn't funny! These individuals had a right to make light of the incident, but they have to prepare for the consequences when the cameras are rolling on them and someone takes it to the national news agitators.

Of course, Chris Brown and Rihanna are looked upon negatively. But they're human as are those who mocked the 2009 incident.

The Daily Mail reports that the high school in upstate New York has found itself in the middle of a controversy after it was revealed that a trio of students in blackface performed a skit making light of the singer Rihanna being beaten up by Chris Brown during a pep rally Friday.

The story has attracted national attention after Waverly High School alum Matt Dishler posted a photo from the skit on CNN's iReport Monday.

The image shows three white students in dark makeup, with two of them portraying Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend, who were involved in a highly publicized domestic violence incident in 2009.

Students who attended the pep rally appear to be smiling and laughing in reaction to the skit.
Could all have been forgiven by pop singers.
Dishler, 24, who graduated from Waverly High School in 2006, said he did not attend the event, but heard about it from friends.

'I can testify there's not a lot of racial diversity in that school whatsoever. We're not really exposed to that at that school.' He told the Star Gazette. 'I felt like something should have been done about this. I don’t believe the kids had any vicious intentions, but the administrators should have said that’s not exactly OK.'

Waverly Superintendent Joseph Yelich said he was not aware that the students were planning to do the skit, but he has received numerous complaints since then.

Whistle-blower: The photo from the racially charged skit was posted on CNN's iReport by Waverly High School alum Matt Dishler.

'The Wevarly School District is committed to creating a positive atmosphere through all activities,’ Yelich said. 'I’ll be working with building administration, staff and students to develop future activities consistent with that commitment.

In a phone interview with the Daily Mail, Yelich said he has met with staff, students and a school psychologist Tuesday to discuss the incident. He said that all those who attended the meeting made commitments to examine the school’s current activities and ‘set clear expectations’ going forward.

Yelich, who has taken over as school superintendent a little over a year ago, said that he plans to further address the situation during a school assembly planned for next week.

‘I have a personal commitment to create a positive environment,’ Yelich said.

The superintendent has declined to comment on whether the students who took part in the skit or the teachers and staff who signed off on it or failed to stop it during the rally have been or will be reprimanded.

‘There’s more work that need to be done,’ he said.

According to an opinion piece posted by Dishler on CNN iReport to accompany the photo, the Friday rally was attended not only by students, but also by parents, members of the media and local community leaders, and ‘none of them stopped the skit.’

The 24-year-old Waverly graduate shared reactions to the incident from his fellow alumni, including Waverly alum and Yale University graduate Vlad Chituc, who was quoted as saying, ‘I think it's unconscionable that such blatant racism has been tacitly approved two years in a row.

‘The administration should be creating an environment where minorities are welcome, not the butts of racist jokes that make light of domestic violence.’

Dishler’s schoolmate Hannah Van Wie-Desisti said, ‘I used to be so proud of where I came from. Not so much now due to the recent incident. I found it unfathomable that the faculty would not only approve this idea for the skit in the first place, but allow it to go on during the pep rally.

‘I honestly don't believe that the students meant to offend, but were just ill informed of how offending their skit actually was. The staff should have stopped it before it even started. By acting like the skit was acceptable, they are teaching their students that racism is okay and that abuse is humorous.

'The whole thing outraged me and made me so disappointed in the school that I was once loved.’

Dishler has since come under criticism from some Facebook users who compared the skit to a piece of satire, saying that it is not unlike some of the off-color material that is frequently shown on TV and in the movies.
Whistle-blower: The photo from the racially charged skit was posted on CNN's iReport by Waverly High School alum Matt Dishler
Meet the guy who tipped off the mainstream media. Matt Dishler told the press about his former school's racial antics.
In response, the 24-year-old wrote that domestic violence should never be a topic for jokes in a school setting.

‘Do they do it on TV? Yes. Know what else they do on TV? Eat maggots, talk openly about their sex lives, use profane language, show drinking, smoking, a litany of other offenses. If your justification for why it wasn't wrong is because it is ‘on TV,’ he wrote Monday.

Dishler’s mother, Janet, came to her son’s defense on Facebook, writing that she is proud of the 24-year-old for shedding light on a seemingly racist display that took place during school hours, with elementary school students in attendance.

‘Also, I would like someone to explain to me what this skit had to do with team spirit and promoting the homecoming game?????’ Janet Dishler wrote.

Chris Brown's Journey To Washed Up Celebrity Status!

chris brown tattoo
If you're trying your best at being a famed R&B/rapper/pop star, what on earth is this young man doing?

Is Chris Brown trying to be the famed pop star?

Nah. He's trying to be the bad boy of music!

Nearly three years ago, Chris Brown assaulted his former girlfriend, now pop rival Rihanna. He was sentenced to community service and anger management therapy.

This didn't work for him. Seeing he's a borderline felon, he and rapper Drake get into a heated argument in which bottle flew across a New York nightclub injuring models and NBA star Tony Parker.

Brown, Drake (Aubrey Graham) and rapper Meek Mill denies ever starting the fight that lead to mulitple injuries. It's almost a shame that hip-hop music is marred with controversy. Besides the sexism, violence, drug themes, homophobia, and reckless spending by these entertainers, many of the suburban youth are buying into it.

Brown is at the verge of being look upon as a washed up celebrity. Although he still maintains himself as a successful musician and entertainer, the 6'3" entertainer enters his 23rd birthday being a blonde version of washed up celebrity Sisqo of Dru Hill.

The Huffington Post's gossip and Mediaite's Gossip Cop acknowledges a tattoo on the neck of the entertainer. Many feel that it's a picture of Rihanna. Brown's representatives deny this. But the talk of the nation is what's the entertainer plans are now since the MTV Music Awards. See the photo of the kiss. Rihanna not only gets her butt grabbed by newcomer rapper A$AP Rocky but now the kiss from Brown.

Songstress Rihanna locked lips with hotheaded ex Chris Brown after her performance at Thursday night's Video Music Awards, prompting speculation rumors about their rekindled romance.
A big one on his former girl. Chris Brown and Rihanna are marred with controversy.
The tat, which the "Don't Wake Me Up" singer debuted on Sept. 1, features a line-drawing of a woman's face half-embellished by flora and fauna-esque things. The whole thing looks more like "Avatar" than RiRi, to be honest, but we guess if we squint our eyes reeaaally hard, love can be found in a hopeless place. Or something like that. For the record: Brown's rep told GossipCop that his new ink “is not Rihanna.”

Rihanna is born Robin Fentry. She is a Barbados born entertainer who rose to fame as signed artist on Def Jam to release her debut album Music Of The Sun. So far five albums and world tours made her one the top sellers of the year.

Rihanna contributes her success as not only a famed pop singer, but an R & B and reggae singer. She is also marred with controversy over her appearances and her reckless behavior.

The pair embraced and went in for a quick lip smack as Rihanna, 24, left the stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, after accepting the award for Video of the Year for her song “We Found Love.”

Footage verifying the lip lock prompted speculation there is truth to rumors about the couple’s rekindled romance, despite Brown’s relationship with model Karreuche Tran.

Rihanna called Brown, “the love of her life” in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey revealed last month.

“We love each other and we probably always will, and that’s not anything that we’re going to try to change,” she said.

Florida Teen Busted For Woman Butt Grab!

The Raw Story and The Smoking Gun covered this one.

Okay, we'll first say that this belongs to the People of Walmart website. This story begs for conservative agitation. This story brings out the mentally inept White Supremacists who fear that the "Niggers" are coming for their women!

This should attract the Fox Nation, The Drudge Report and other conservative agitators who feel the need to blame President Barack Obama or the Black community.

Walmart, the world's largest retail superstore, has some of the most interesting things. From scantly clad men wearing daisy dukes and high heels, to people using other people's credit cards, the most obvious thing you'll find in a Walmart, is the sick pervert looking for a suburban honey dip so he get a feel on!

Meet 18 year old Aaron Morris. The teenager was busted while getting a feel of a woman's buttock.

He was standing near the fitting rooms and he saw the woman. I guess he got a rise in the pants and decided to get a "smack of da booty!"

At the North Lauderdale Walmart, the young man “approached the victim and willfully and intentionally grabbed the victim’s right buttocks against her will.”

The victim later identified Morris at local RaceTrac gas station, where he explained his actions.

“Her booty looked so good,” he said. “I just couldn’t resist touching it.”

Morris is being held at the Broward County Jail in lieu of $1,000 bond.

I am guessing that Morris had seen the website. Here's a video from a user on YouTube describing the People of Walmart.

This is a not safe for work video.

On The Eve Of Her Birthday, A Woman Is Killed By An Accidental Cop Shooting!

The shot killed Adaisha Miller, 24, of Detroit.
We at Journal de la Reyna send our condolences to the family of Adaisha Miller.

In Detroit, Michigan, a woman about to celebrate her 25th birthday was shot and killed after she embraced an off-duty officer and she may have triggered his firearm. The Detroit Metro Police are investigating the incident and express sorrow for the death of Adaisha Miller.

Courtesy of Detroit Free Press

Off-duty Detroit Police Officer Isaac Parrish was carrying his department-issued pistol in a soft holster on the right side of his waist while hosting a fish fry at his house on Detroit's west side during the weekend, police said.

Adaisha Miller was dancing behind the officer and touched his waist.

His gun fired.

Miller was struck once in the chest and died.

That is the account provided Monday by Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr., who said the shooting appears to be a tragic accident.

Police are investigating and say preliminary findings show the holster may have allowed the trigger to be "manipulated" while the Smith & Wesson M&P 40 was stored.

Godbee said the officer is "very remorseful of the incident and the tragic nature of this young lady losing her life in the manner that she did."

No one answered Monday afternoon at Parrish's home on Archdale.

"To the family of Adaisha Miller, we are profoundly sad at their loss," Godbee said.

As Miller's family grieved Monday on what would have been her 25th birthday, they said they want answers.

Yolanda McNair had planned to bake a birthday cake Monday but instead was looking for her daughter's burial dress.

"What I need to know are the facts," McNair said.

Based on the preliminary investigation and witness accounts, Godbee said, the shooting occurred after Miller was dancing with Parrish, embraced him from behind and touched his waist. It doesn't appear Parrish touched the weapon, Godbee said.

One expert said several questions need to be answered to know whether such an accident is possible.

David Balash, a former Michigan State Police firearms examiner, questioned whether the holster could pivot or whether Parrish was bending over, given that holstered guns typically point with the barrel toward the ground.

Parents of  Adashia Miller want answers to this tragic shooting.
"It's just an incredible angle that they're asking you to believe," Balash said. "If the muzzle of the firearm were initially in a downward position, it would be such a dramatic twisting and turning of a weapon."

Balash also questioned why the officer wouldn't secure his weapon if he felt someone touching it.

"You have to defend your weapon," he said. "Weapon retention is just a basic understanding of police work."

Godbee said the weapon does not have an external safety, but has one in the trigger.

The Smith & Wesson M&P 40 can be made with or without an external safety, said Matt Rice of
Blue Heron Communications, a public relations agency that represents Smith & Wesson. According to a news release from Smith & Wesson, the weapon has a trigger system that features a 6.5-pound trigger pull and is designed to prevent the gun from firing if it is dropped.

It is optional for Detroit police officers to carry their weapons while off duty. If they do, according to the policy, "off-duty sidearms shall be carried safely and concealed from public view."

John Goldpaugh, a lawyer for the Detroit Police Officers Association, told the Free Press on Sunday that the officer had his semiautomatic pistol in a holster inside his waistband and covered by his shirt.

Godbee also said Parrish's gun was concealed.

Parrish, a 16-year veteran of the force, has been placed on administrative restricted duty during the internal investigation.

Godbee said the shooting still is being investigated. It's unclear exactly how Miller was shot in the chest.

Given the type of soft holster, it may have been possible for the "trigger to be manipulated," Godbee said. In most incidents, he said, a weapon "does not go off without the trigger being engaged in some manner."

Godbee did not say whether Parrish had been drinking and didn't answer a question about whether he was given a Breathalyzer test.

Metro Police Chief Ralph Godbee, Jr. expresses sorrow. He demands an investigation into why his officer had a weapon while he was drinking!
It's unclear how many people were at the fish fry when the shooting occurred at 12:30 a.m. Sunday. Miller's family members and police said she did not know Parrish.

According to departmental policy, "off-duty officers are prohibited by state law from carrying a firearm if their blood alcohol level is 0.02% or above. In addition, members shall not carry a firearm in situations where an officer's performance may be impaired."

Under Michigan law, a driver with a 0.08% blood alcohol level can be arrested for operating while intoxicated.

Miller's family also wants to know whether alcohol was involved.

"We want to know if there was any alcohol in his system at the time," said Elizabeth Gilmore, 41, one of Miller's cousins.

Godbee promised a thorough investigation.

"I think it's very important at this point for us as a department to embrace what happened, to take a look at every possible scenario, balanced with what the witnesses' accounts are, make our investigative findings known to the prosecutor, and what the evidence presents it presents," Godbee said. "And we will do what's necessary as a department."

Funeral arrangements for Miller still were pending Monday.
