MAGAtoonist depicts harm on Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI). |
Three U.S. lawmakers are Muslim.
One of them is a Palestinian American who is a fourth generation. He is three term member who is part of the Squad. She and another woman who is Muslim both are vilified by Republicans, Democrats, the junk food media and the Israeli regime.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) may be insufferable but she is more passionate than that idiot, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Republican lawmaker from Georgia.
Tlaib and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MI) as well as Indiana Democratic lawmaker Andre Carson are Muslim. They are attacked for their religion, their race and their opposition to Israel.
The Israeli regime is fucking evil. They are determined to push America into another conflict in the Middle East. Tlaib has openly called for Congress to stop giving aid to Israel.
Tlaib has advocated for UN sanctions, criminal charges against the regime, demand President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris stop parroting talking points from Israel and an end to AIPAC's influence in Congress.
Many of these racist Zionists have called her antisemitic. They have weaponized antisemitism to a point that now it's just pathetic.
Look, if you are not committing violent acts upon Jewish people or Muslims, it's not antisemitism. You can criticize Israel. It is no different than any country or the United States.
Some far right MAGAtoonist decided to draw up Tlaib and made reference to the terrorist attack in Beirut, Lebanon. Israel conducted a terrorist attack involving electronic devices placing the world on the edge. If Israel had the ability to tamper with electronic devices and use them as explosives, whose to say they ain't planning this type of terrorism in the U.S., Great Britain, the European Union, Canada, Japan, China, Iran, Russia, Australia, the Global South or the African Union?
Tlaib reacted to this controversy.
“Our community is already in so much pain right now. This racism will incite more hate + violence against our Arab & Muslim communities, and it makes everyone less safe,” Tlaib said of the cartoon published in conservative magazine National Review.
“It’s disgraceful that the media continues to normalize this racism,” the only Palestinian-American lawmaker in the United States Congress wrote on X on Friday.
Created by Henry Payne, the cartoon shows a woman sitting at a desk with a name card reading “Rep. Tlaib” where a device explodes. The woman remarks: “ODD. MY PAGER JUST EXPLODED.”
The illustration alludes to attacks in Lebanon on Tuesday and Wednesday when thousands of pagers and walkie-talkies exploded killing at least 37 people and wounding nearly 3,000, including civilians.
After the attacks, Tlaib shared a post by fellow Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez referring to it as a clear violation of “international humanitarian law”.
White man depicts Rashida Tlaib as a terrorist. White colonialists and Zionist often depict Arab and Muslim Americans as terrorists. |
Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives who is a vocal critic of Israel’s war on Gaza, has often weathered harsh vitriol from Republican and some Democratic opponents, including baseless accusations of sympathies with Hamas.
In November, Tlaib was formally censured by the House, a step just below expulsion, for allegedly “promoting false narratives” about the Gaza war and “seeking Israel’s destruction”, charges she rejects.
Tlaib said at the time she “will not be silenced and I will not let you distort my words”.
Tlaib voiced her support on Thursday for Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, criticising her colleagues in the U.S. Congress for their silence as U.S.-funded weapons continue to fuel bloodshed in the besieged enclave.
“We are living through one of, again, the most documented horrific crimes against humanity in our history. These are children who did not live to see their first birthday. We cannot normalize this,” said Tlaib.
“My colleagues continue to be silent. I wonder if it’s because these babies are Palestinian? They’re children, that’s it,” she added.
