Trump unleashes his anger on Mitt Romney. The Utah Senator is the only Republican brave enough to stand up against that dimwitted president. |
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) became the only Republican to break with the remaining 52 cowards to convict the president. Trump became the third U.S. president to be impeached while in office. He was facing two articles of impeachment.
He was acquitted of obstruction of Congress and abuse of power. The partisan vote ran on 48 to convict and 52 to acquit.
The Senate refused to hear any more witnesses or evidence and it assured that this remains a cover-up. I consider this a "sham trial" and believe that Grim Riper Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is by far the most corrupt politician in Washington, DC. Republicans are fearful of the repercussions Trump may lay on them. Romney is already facing the heat.
His niece, Republican National Committee chairwoman, Ronna Romney McDaniel called Romney's decision "shameful."
Trump and his allies lit into him.
Had failed presidential candidate @MittRomney devoted the same energy and anger to defeating a faltering Barack Obama as he sanctimoniously does to me, he could have won the election. Read the Transcripts!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 6, 2020

Mitt Romney is now the crown prince of the clown car that is Never Trump.https://t.co/6iGSO276gE— The Federalist (@FDRLST) February 6, 2020
Thankfully he didn’t do that because had he won there would likely be no Trump presidency and Mitt would have lost BIGLY to Hillary in 2016 after folding on every conservative viewpoint along the way to appease the liberal media and others whose approval he desperately covets. https://t.co/fC9cd7ijFu— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) February 6, 2020
Mitt Romney is forever bitter that he will never be POTUS. He was too weak to beat the Democrats then so he’s joining them now.— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) February 5, 2020
He’s now officially a member of the resistance & should be expelled from the @GOP.
Mitt Romney is not ‘principled’ — and he never has been https://t.co/S3VOKDROlP— Donald Trump Jr. (@DonaldJTrumpJr) February 6, 2020
I guess @MittRomney was right... he himself is a "LOSER FOR LIFE." pic.twitter.com/0SqBfufFeg— Steven Cheung (@CaliforniaPanda) February 6, 2020
The Utah Republican Party is pleased to see President Trump completely acquitted by the United States Senate. We appreciate the service rendered to our state by Utah’s two senators. As a party, we strongly disagree with the vote cast today by Senator Romney.— UtahGOP (@UtahGOP) February 5, 2020

This is not the first time I have disagreed with Mitt, and I imagine it will not be the last.— Ronna McDaniel (@GOPChairwoman) February 5, 2020
The bottom line is President Trump did nothing wrong, and the Republican Party is more united than ever behind him.
I, along with the @GOP, stand with President Trump.
Romney, the lone Senator in the Republican caucus to break with the party on convicting Trump.
Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA), Sen. Rob Portman (R-OH), Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO), Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE).decided to not remove Trump from office.
Trump wants Romney to suffer for standing against him. |
Republicans are calling for him to expelled from the Senate. Although it's unlikely he'll be thrown out of the Senate, the Republicans are going to probably strip him of his committees.
Romney is not backing away from the criticism.
"The president is guilty of an appalling abuse of public trust. What he did was not perfect, no. It was a flagrant assault under electoral rights, our national security and our fundamental values. Corrupting an election to keep one's self in office is perhaps the most abusive and destructive violation of one's oath of office I can imagine."
We knew the fix was in when McConnell went on that shithead Sean "Softball" Hannity's program to declare he's working with the White House and will not conduct a impartial trial.
