Columbus Police fatally shoots a boy with a pellet gun. |
In Columbus, Ohio, the police are investigating a fatal encounter with a boy who was allegedly carrying a pellet gun. The law claims that the boy was involved in an armed robbery.
The name of the boy was trending on social media. The child identified as Tyree King had "pulled a gun from his waistband" when officers attempted to take him and another child in custody.
As the situation unfolded, the officer who is not named fired multiple times on King.
The weapon was recovered and the law determined that it was a BB gun. It had an attached laser sight. Of course that's the usual word play of justifying shooting.
"Our officers carry a gun that looks practically identical to this weapon. It turns out not to be a firearm, but as you can see, it looks like a firearm that can kill you", said Columbus chief of police Kim Jacobs.
Police were called to the neighborhood around 7pm on a report of a group of people who tried rob a person.
Officers followed the males into an alley and attempted to take them into custody. King was allegedly taking the BB gun from his waistband and that's when the officer fired on him.
The boy died an hour later at the local hospital. The officer known as Brian Mason, a nine year member of the Columbus Police is the officer who shot King. Mason is in the freezer pending the outcome of the situation. I am assuming that concern trolls and racists are trying to look into social media of Tyree King, to justify the shooting. No word of trolls looking into Mason's social media and officer training files.
I am guessing that the city is preparing for protests because they were quick to release the name of the officer who shot the child. They haven't released the dash camera, audio or body camera of the officer. The witnesses involved haven't posted on social media or talked to the junk food media.
