Tha Carter VI got mixed reactions. |
The curse of association with President Donald J. Trump. Many rappers came out in support of the Republican president despite his chaotic previous term.
Some individuals believe misogyny is key to why they voted for Trump. Of course, Trump will bring "free speech" back. Except when you are criticizing Israel, his policies or holding nudity on your phones when you are entering the United States.
Some believe Trump giving $1,200 to the Black communities was monumental shift in voter demographics. Yet, that amount only covers either an ambulance ride, one month's rent, groceries or a vehicle being fixed.
Some believe Trump surviving an assassination attempt changed the game. We know all about the two incidents involving two men attacking Zionists. Yet, we are coming to the year of that assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania and still no details on the suspect or his motives. I believe he wanted to trigger chaos if candidate Trump died. Cause he saw a martyr in Trump and if he could rattle the cage, Trump won.
Lil Wayne, is no exception.
He endorsed the president in 2020 and 2024. Despite being invited by former vice president Kamala Harris at the White House to celebrate 50 years of hip-hop, Dwayne Carter, Jr., 42 is hardline to Trump.
Also some of his featured guests on Tha Carter VI have endorsed Trump as well.
He released his album on Friday.
It has mixed reviews.
Most see the album as moderate at best.
Not like his legendary Tha Carter and Tha Carter III albums.
Featured guests were Big Sean, BigXThaPlug, Bono, 2 Chainz, Kodak Black, MGK, Andrea Bocelli, Wyclef Jean, Lil Novi, JellyRoll, Jay Jones, Mannie Fresh and Kameron Carter.
Kameron Carter is Lil Wayne's son and an inspiring rapper.
Wayne reunited with longtime producer Mannie Fresh who executive produced the album along with Wayne and Wyclef Jean.

Kameron Carter, one of Lil Wayne's children with actress Lauren London. |
Mannie Fresh, Wheezy, Manny G, Infamous, Ben Billions, Boi-1da, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Lil Wayne and others produced the album.
Some complained that Tunechi didn't have his former Young Money talents on the album. Drake, Nicki Minaj and Tyga have left Young Money and Cash Money Records after fulfilling their album obligations.
I think Kendrick Lamar's GNX set the bar so high, it makes veteran rappers like Lil Wayne, Drake, Future and J. Cole struggle to achieve their past successes.
Lil Wayne has been sloppy. It took five years to release an album. The Funeral was released in 2020 during the pandemic. It went No. 1 but no one seemed to care.
The previous collaboration album Welcome 2 ColleGrove with 2 Chainz didn't land in the No. 1 spot.
When K. Dot released that album, he took jabs at Tunechi and it finally drove him back into the studio. But when fans were expecting a raw New Orleans rap sound of Wayne, they ended up getting a pop rap album.
So I want you to listen to it and make your own decision. I like about seven of the tracks on the album. But it's your choice to like it or not. I am not here to trash an entertainer. He put in the work and folks are listening.
Lil Wayne has four children. The mothers include: media personality Toya Johnson (Regine), media personality Sarah Vivian (Dwayne III), actress Lauren London (Kameron), and singer Nivea (Neal).
