Hallie Jackson goes to NBC News Now. |
MSNBC had an afternoon shakeup. It is about time in the case of Hallie Jackson. She will still have a place but with a different platform.
Jackson who hosted Hallie Jackson Reports from 3pm until 4pm with lead in to Deadline: White House with Nicolle Wallace will now have her show on its streaming platform NBC News Now. It will be expanded from 5pm until 7pm.
She has the Mehdi Hasan type of program. She joins Chuck Todd who was demoted out of MSNBC. He held on to MTP: Daily which was on at 5pm until 2020 when his show was moved to 1pm and Wallace was given two hours. And until mid-2022, Todd was hosting at 1pm until he was moved to NBC News Now with Meet The Press Now.
Chris Jensing who occupies the 1pm spot will host two hours and Katy Tur will have the 3pm slot.
Also Jonathan Capehart will now host weekends at 9am. Katie Phang will host a 8am show. Ali Velshi will now fill the 10am spot that Capehart and Tiffany Cross held. Jose Diaz-Balart’s show will move from 10am to 11am on weekdays. He will still host NBC Nightly News on Saturdays.
Andrea Mitchell will remain in the 12 pm.
Cross was fired from MSNBC in late November.
The reworking of daytime was messaged around the same time as an estimated 75 employees from NBC and MSNBC were set to be impacted by layoffs, a source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter. NBC’s news division counts 3,500 employees in total.
