Cyntoia Brown Might Be Out Soon!

A second chance for American woman who was granted clemency.
Outgoing Tennessee governor Bill Haslam has granted clemency to Cyntoia Brown, an American woman who was convicted of murdering a man who she accused of rape. She was a victim of sex trafficking.

Brown was sold for sex at the young age of 16. She was sentenced to life. However, the power of activism, Shaun King, Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ), Jada Pinkett Smith and Kim Kardashian West helped spark a movement in justice reform.

Now in a few mere months, Brown will be released.

Brown was a 16-year-old sex trafficking victim when she killed a man in 2004 was granted clemency Monday by Tennessee’s governor and soon will be released from prison.

Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam granted clemency to Cyntoia Brown, who had been serving a life sentence but who will be released on parole on Aug. 7 — exactly 15 years from the date she was first arrested.

“Cyntoia Brown committed, by her own admission, a horrific crime at the age of 16. Yet, imposing a life sentence on a juvenile that would require her to serve at least 51 years before even being eligible for parole consideration is too harsh, especially in light of the extraordinary steps Ms. Brown has taken to rebuild her life,” Haslam said in his statement.

Brown, 30, will remain on parole supervision for 10 years on the condition she does not violate any state or federal laws, holds a job, and participates in regular counseling sessions.

Brown’s case has attracted national attention from criminal justice reform advocates, and the attention amped up as Haslam’s second and final term entered its final weeks. While law enforcement officials had opposed clemency - arguing Brown was not justified in killing Allen - celebrities like Kim Kardashian West and singer Rihanna spoke out for Brown. The governor’s office was inundated with thousands of phone calls and emails from supporters.

“Thank you Governor Haslam,” Kardashian West tweeted soon after news of the clemency decision broke, which was followed by similar high-profile responses from former Georgia Democratic gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, actresses Alyssa Milano and Viola Davis.

Brown was convicted in 2006 of murdering 43-year-old Nashville real estate agent Johnny Allen two years before. Police said she shot Allen in the back of the head at close range with a loaded gun she brought to rob him after he picked her up at a drive-in theater in Nashville to have sex with her.

However, according to her lawyers, Brown was a victim of sex trafficking who not only feared for her life but also lacked the mental state to be culpable in the slaying because she was impaired by her mother’s alcohol use while she was in the womb.

Brown expressed thanks in a statement released Monday by her legal team.

“I am thankful for all the support, prayers, and encouragement I have received. We truly serve a God of second chances and new beginnings. The Lord has held my hand this whole time and I would have never made it without him,” Brown said. “Let today be a testament to his saving grace.”

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled against life-without-parole sentences for juveniles. However, the state of Tennessee argued successfully in lower courts that it was not in violation of federal law because Brown did have a possibility for parole: She was sentenced to serve at least 51 years of her life sentence.

“Her story is a story that should be a catalyst for a lot of others, thousands of other juveniles,” said Houston Gordon, one of Brown’s lead attorneys. “We need to see this as a national awakening to change the draconian laws that allow juveniles, children, to be placed in adult prisons when they’re just children. They’re not little adults.”

During her time in prison, Brown completed her GED and took college classes. She is currently one course away from finishing a Bachelor’s degree at Lipscomb University.
Cyntoia Brown will be out by August.
Nashville Mayor David Briley praised Haslam’s decision, calling it a “great day for social justice and our city.” Democratic state Sen. Raumesh Akbari said the clemency announcement shows that Tennessee “can show love, compassion and mercy” for people who have experienced trauma.

Haslam’s decision comes at a time when he’s considering his next political move in Tennessee now that U.S. Sen. Lamar Alexander announced he won’t seek re-election in 2020.

Compared to Democrats, Tennessee’s Republican lawmakers remained markedly quiet on Haslam’s decision.

Gov.-elect Bill Lee offered a brief statement, saying he “respected” Haslam’s choice in the complex case and Lt. Gov. Randy McNally said he “appreciated” the process the governor went through to arrive at his decision.

Ed Yarborough, another attorney for Brown, joked at a Monday press conference that he was brought on as the “token Republican” in Brown’s case.

“I have to give a lot of credit to Gov. Haslam for having the wisdom and the compassion to do what he did today,” he said. “It will not be popular with everyone in Tennessee, but he did the right thing and we praise him for that.”

To date, Haslam has granted five commutations, 15 pardons, and one exoneration. The Republican says he is continuing to review and consider additional clemency requests.

Angela Davis Gets Chin Checked For Denouncing Israeli Genocide Against The Palestinian People!

Angela Davis express concern about Israeli war crimes and a civil rights group pulled her invite.
Black activist and pioneer to the modern resistance Angela Davis is under fire.

Why?

Because she denounced the antics of the Israeli government towards the people of the West Bank and The Gaza Strip.

Once again, if we criticize Israeli crimes against humanity, we're anti-Semitic.

The AP reports that a Birmingham civil rights group stripped the former Black Panther of her award because of pressure from Jewish groups tied to pro-Israeli interest.

Black activists on Monday called for leadership changes and protests at an Alabama civil rights museum after it rescinded an award for political activist Angela Davis, a move the mayor said followed complaints from the Jewish community.

Speaking outside the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute, located in the same downtown area where civil rights violence once shocked the nation, organizers told a news conference that Davis, a Birmingham native, was wronged by the decision to rescind the honor.

Davis, a longtime activist who has supported Palestinian rights and criticized Israeli policy, is on a par with civil rights legend Rosa Parks, said activist Frank Matthews.

“This is the ultimate insult to deny Angela Davis her inheritance,” he said. Museum leaders should quit, he said, and protests will be held. Other speakers called for a boycott.

The institute announced in September that Davis would receive the Fred L. Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award, named for the late minister who once prominently led civil rights demonstrations in the city.

In a statement posted on its website over the weekend, the publicly funded museum said it was canceling a gala set for next month and rescinding the award after directors concluded Davis “unfortunately does not meet all of the criteria on which the award is based.”

Mayor Randall Woodfin said he was “dismayed” by the decision, which he said followed “protests from our local Jewish community and some of its allies.”

The longtime executive director of the Birmingham Jewish Federation, Richard Friedman, did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.

A representative of the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute did not immediately return an email message seeking comment; neither did a California-based agency that represents Davis.

Davis , 74, has spent decades fighting for civil rights. She was an active member of the Black Panther Party, Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and Communist Party USA. She also is an outspoken supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement targeting Israel’s treatment of Palestinians.

The civil rights institute’s president and CEO, Andrea Taylor, said in October that the organization was “thrilled to bestow this honor” on Davis whom she described as “one of the most globally recognized champions of human rights, giving voice to those who are powerless to speak.”

But the institute announced Saturday that in late December, “supporters and other concerned individuals and organizations, both inside and outside of our local community, began to make requests that we reconsider our decision.”

The statement did not indicate what criteria Davis didn’t meet, nor did it identify the origin of the complaints. Many people responded with outrage on Twitter and Facebook.

Mayor Woodfin called the museum’s decision a reactive and divisive decision and offered to facilitate a community dialogue in response. While the city helps fund the museum, one of the top tourist draws in Alabama, it doesn’t get involved in “programmatic decisions,” Woodfin said.

Protest organizer Carlos Chaverst Jr. said the city has gotten involved at the institute before and could intervene if it wanted to do so.

“Our mayor lied, and he’s still lying,” Chaverst said.

Cincinnati Police Doing Damage Control After Dirty Cops N-Tapped A Woman!

Cincinnati Police face numerous controversies. One recent one was a cop uttering a racial slur to a woman he arrested.
The Cincinnati Police are facing a lot of problems.

First things first, according to the junk food media, a high ranking officer was suspended. Mike Savard, the captain of the force was pulled from the beat and stripped of his rank for reasons unknown to the junk food media.

Two officers who were on the vice squad were stripped of their powers. See above. They are under federal watch. This officers are involved in stopping drug trafficking, prostitution and gambling.

The vice officers weren't identified.

A veteran member of the Cincinnati Police Department was recently arrested and has his police powers after he was accused of refusing to identify himself to a fellow officer during a crash investigation in a local neighborhood.

Andre Smith, a sergeant was arrested for failure to disclose information at the scene of crash. The cop crashed into another driver and put him in the hospital. Smith was possibly under influence of alcohol.

Some of the issues that police chief Eliot Isaac is facing includes turning a blind eye to corruption within the department.

Cincinnati Police also now have a big scandal on their hands. The incidents where white officers were using racial slurs towards suspects and fellow officers.

An lieutenant at the center of a lawsuit calling her "vindictive and openly racist" filed a lawsuit against the agency. Danita Pettis filed a lawsuit in federal court back in November. She accused white officers Tamera Brown and Joy Ludgatis of racism as well. The two women filed a lawsuit against Pettis in June claiming that a hostile work environment. Pettis believe the police union only plays favorites on both sides of the fence.

Pettis is accused of being a racial quota. She was promoted to rank of lieutenant despite having a shoddy background.

Only a few weeks ago, two officers were caught on body camera calling Black woman they apprehended a NIGGER.

The officer Dennis Barnette was arresting a woman at the Brownstone Nightclub when he used the slur against the woman. Barnette slammed the woman to the police cruiser and uttered the word while the woman was crying in pain.

The woman was accused of assaulting a police officer. The charges were dropped. Now the NAACP is involved and demand that Barnette and his partner involved to be fired out the cannon.

Trust me, since the death of Timothy Thomas in 2001, the Cincinnati Police have been struggling to clean house. One of their dispatchers ended up failing a teenager who was trapped in his vehicle. An officer used the Taser on a little girl who he accused of shoplifting out of a grocery store.

The Cincinnati Police continue to be a burden on people of color. Even with the decrease in violence, the agency can't muster enough time to fix these problems.

There is a federal investigation into the whole department. It's considered a "felony theft." The new policy, released in weekly staff notes, essentially instruct police officials to use sound management principals of on-duty personnel and union contract provisions to control and reduce overtime expenditures in delivery of police services.

Under Eric Holder and Loretta Lynch, the U.S. Justice Department did launch investigations into police departments like Cleveland, Cincinnati, Baltimore, Chicago and New Orleans.

The Law Caught The Killer Of Jazmine Barnes!

The killer was caught. The power of activism led to the arrest of a man who killed Jazmine Barnes.
Social media managed to work in the wake of a tragic shooting of a 7-year old girl.

The individual apprehended was Black and these two men will face capital murder. These charges carry DEATH.

Black Lives Matter activist Shaun King told his millions of supporters that his hashtag #JusticeForJazmine helped big time.

Only a week ago, the junk food media was reporting on the shooting of Jazmine Barnes, a bright little girl who was victim of a drive-by shooting in metro Houston. The shooting happened near the Sam Houston Tollway.

As her mother, LaPaorsha Washington left a Walmart, she was traveling on the service road near the tollway. She wasn't expecting a gunman to shoot at her. She didn't know the shooter.
They got the suspect who killed Jazmine Barnes.
The shooter managed to ambush the vehicle. They shot Washington in the arm. They shot little Jazmine in the head. The other daughter was hit by flying glass.

The picture of the orange tarp over the vehicle was horrific. People took to action. If this didn't pick up junk food media attention, it would have been an unsolved mystery.

The break in the case was yesterday. The FBI, Harris County Boys and Houston Metro Police received tips on the whereabouts of the shooter.

I don't often mention the name of the shooter. I will say that the suspect is young and he wasn't the one who the law was looking for.

The shooter admitted that he shot at the vehicle.
Harris County boys released the sketch of a man who they thought was involved in the shooting.
"Investigators are continuing to pursue evidence that could possibly lead to other suspects being charged in this case," said the Harris County Sheriff's Office. "At this time, investigators do not believe Jazmine's family was the intended target of the shooting, and that they were possibly shot as a result of mistaken identity."

Before the arrest, police had released a sketch of the suspect Thursday complied from Washington and Jazmine's three sisters. The conservatives will start bemoaning about how progressives and Black activism targeted a white person for a crime he didn't commit.

Authorities said that white person was in his 40s. It turns out that the white guy was trying to flee gunfire. He wasn't the shooter but in the state of shock, Washington saw the first person around her.
The shooting was shocking to the nation.
It was an unprovoked attack.

Ed Gonzalez, the Harris County Sheriff said that these individuals who kept the shooter in hiding could face criminal charges as well.

The impact of Jazmine's death has been felt far and wide, and supporters have together to support the family.

More than 2,700 people have donated to a GoFundMe account that was set up for Jazmine's expenses and family.

Once indicted this suspect will face capital murder. The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The curtain is about to fall on the piped piper of R&B.

Kelly's inner circle, are coming forward with new allegations about his sexual, mental, and physical abuse. They are now finally ready to share their full story and shed light on the secret life the public has never seen.

With over 50 interviews including civil rights activist Tarana Burke, musicians John Legend and Sparkle, talk-show host and former DJ Wendy Williams, ex-wife Andrea Kelly, ex-girlfriend Kitti Jones, brothers Carey and Bruce Kelly, and many others, the true story of R. This program falls under Lifetime’s commitment to provide a platform to give women a voice where they have previously been unheard to bring awareness to the abuses and harassment of women.

Known for making hits, the 51 year old entertainer has face a backlash for allegedly enslaving women in his mansions.

Do you believe R. Kelly sexually abused women? (Expect trolls to pick the dumbest answers)

Yes. I believe he's been doing this for years. He has shielded himself as the "crown" of entertainment. Now it's time for the curtain to fall.
No. I believe that many of his accusers were willing to sleep with him. They are often upset that he's move on past them and now they seek to ruin a good man's reputation.
Yes. I believe the accusers. At first, I didn't want to believe the accusers. After watching "Surviving R. Kelly," I have to reconsider that my favorite musician is a rapist.
No. This is celebrity gossip. If you're so concerned with R. Kelly, why don't you focus on Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry and Donald Trump. They have accusations of sleeping with underage girls. No documentaries about them. I want real proof.
I have no comment on R. Kelly. I want to see how this play out before I pass judgement.

There's allegations that he forces women to perform sex acts on him. The women are forced to be locked in private rooms (packed with entertainment). These women are told when to leave and speak to their families or the junk food media.

The MeToo Movement and Time's Up movement have started a Mute R. Kelly protest.

The entertainer is often forced off concert tours and has his music slimmed down on many mainstream radio stations.
In one of the recording studios, a cup of urine and semen covered stains on the floor.
Many of his current and former associates are talking about his love for the young. Allegations stemming all the way back to the 1990s. R. Kelly had allegedly molested and raped teenage girls since his rise.

The rumored brief marriage to Aaliyah also became a topic of discussion.

The program has also a feature from the EGOT award winner John Legend. The entertainer said that he believes the accusers. Legend, who appears in the final installment of "Surviving R. Kelly" on Saturday, spoke out against R. Kelly's actions.

Members of R. Kelly's inner circle, his alleged victims and their family members were also featured on the program, but it was reportedly hard for Detroit author and filmmaker Dream Hampton to find any other musicians who would discuss the allegations on camera.

The Bloody State: Mass Shootings In California!

Two mass shootings in the state of California. This happened in Torrance at the Gable House Bowl.
Which shooting gets the most media coverage?

Again, we still are dealing with mass shootings in the United States. There were two mass shootings in California. Of course, Donald J. Trump, Mike Pence, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), the 53 Representatives (including Reps. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA)) won't do a damn thing about it.

Although Democrats are working on gun reform measures in the House of Representatives, the Republicans in the Senate aren't willing to take up the issue. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) is the inept Majority Leader who will not relinquish his support for the National Rifle Association.

The one that didn't make social media was the shooting in Oakland.

Three men were killed on Friday night in an Oakland neighborhood that the police describe as a deliberate attack.
This mass shooting happened in Oakland.
They found three men suffering from an unknown number of gunshot wounds. It is unclear if they were taken to the hospital for treatment or if they died at the scene.

The three men were young.

The terrorists who killed these young men is still active. The Oakland Police, Alameda County Boys and the FBI are actively searching for the terrorist.

The names were 20 year old Michael Radford, 28 year old Astin Edwards and 28 year old Robert "Tank" Meekins.

The Los Angeles Times report that people were having a family gathering when this altercation occurred. The terrorist decided to aim at the three individuals and those in the way.

Jesus Perez, a patron at the bowling alley said that their was a "big fight" and all of sudden four gunshots.
Expect more mass shootings.
"We just ran right into the bar and took cover. All we head was just, like two people shot," he said to the Los Angeles Times.

In one disturbing video, you hear a woman screaming at the Torrance Police officer. She is demanding they treat a blood soaked victim who was motionless.

"You got to get an ambulance now! I'm holding hit, I'm putting pressure."

"Call his fucking baby momma please! You have to apply pressure."

A.J. Calloway Felt #MeToo!

A.J. Calloway facing heat.
The Extra host now faces heat for allegations going all the way back to his days on 106 & Park, one of BET most successful shows back in the 2000s.

There's over 10 women who accused A.J. Calloway of sexual abuse. The movement was started by actress/activist Sil Lai Abrams alleging the television host attack her and others.

The Warner Bros Entertainment and NBC hasn't spoken much on the controversy. This renewed effort to oust Calloway is now moving forward.

Abrams went to Joy Reid on MSNBC to talk about how Calloway sexually abused her. NBC scrubbed the segment.

"They took my voice!"

The Daily Beast reports that Abrams' allegations came to light thanks to the thoroughly reported June expose. But the writer and domestic-violence awareness activist is still disturbed by the lack of impact, specifically when it comes to the allegations against Calloway.

In her 2007 memoir, No More Drama: Nine Simple Steps to Transforming a Breakdown into a Breakthough, Abrams says she used pseudonyms for both Russell Simmons and A.J. Calloway. She referred to Calloway as a "Well-spoken B-list celebrity" named Ray, who she recruited for a charity event.

After the event, Abrams thanked Calloway for his participation, and they discussed her dream of starting her own non-profit. They proceeded to speak weekly on the phone about the non-profit. Abrams wrote that Calloway would repeatedly bring up the topic of sex; she explained, "Although his behavior could be annoying at times, I chose to focus on his willingness to assist with my project instead of his inappropriate boundary testing."

The day after Christmas 2006, Abrams and Calloway met for a drink. Afterwards, he offered to drive her home. In the memoir, she said that Calloway exposed himself to her in the car and then threw himself on her despite her protestations. Abrams narrates, "Pushing him away, I hissed, 'Let go..I said let me go...' as he started groping my right breast. My heart started racing...all I wanted was to grab my purse and bag and get out of the car. But he wasn't having any of that. 'Touch it...,' he said hoarsely, exposing himself again. 'This is so wrong...just stop...' I pleaded. He then tried to push my head down into his lap, but I wrested myself away. 'Just touch it...,' he begged again, grabbed my hand and returning it to his rigid member. I gave up. Our struggle had been going if I just let him do what he wanted. Ray continued to stroke himself for another minute until he climaxed, all over my hand and his. Reaching across me, he opened the glove compartment and pulled out a stack of napkins."
