The dottering 45th/47th President of the United States is really showing signs of cognitive decline. An old man who is a perfect example of America in decline.

President Donald J. Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were at the United Nations for its annual summit of countries and territories. The president was angry at the UN General Assembly for a malfunctioning escalator and teleprompter.

Trump castigated the United Nations as a feckless institution in a speech to the world body on Tuesday, praising the turn America has taken under his leadership while warning Europe will be ruined if it doesn’t turn away from a “double-tailed monster” of ill-conceived migration and green energy policies.

His roughly hourlong speech before the U.N. General Assembly was both grievance-filled and self-congratulatory as he used the platform to applaud his second-term achievements and lament that some of his fellow world leaders’ countries were “going to hell.”

The address was the latest reminder for U.S. allies and foes that the United States — after a four-year interim under the more internationalist President Joe Biden — has returned to an unapologetically “America First” posture with an antagonistic view toward the United Nations. Trump also sharply criticized the global body for inaction, saying it was filled with “empty words” that “don’t solve wars.”

“What is the purpose of the United Nations?” Trump said. “The U.N. has such tremendous potential. I’ve always said it. It has such tremendous, tremendous potential. But it’s not even coming close to living up to that potential.”

Afterward, Trump attempted to assuage fears from some diplomats by assuring the top U.N. leader that the U.S. remained “100%” supportive of the global body despite his earlier criticism.

“I may disagree with it sometimes, but I am so behind it because the potential for peace at this institution is great,” Trump told Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

It was another about-face after Trump offered a weave of jarring juxtapositions in his address to the assembly.

He trumpeted himself as a peacemaker and enumerated successes of his administration’s efforts in several hotspots around the globe. At the same time, Trump heralded his decisions to order the U.S. military to carry out strikes on Iran and more recently against alleged drug smugglers from Venezuela and argued that “globalists” are on the verge of destroying successful nations.

Warnings about ‘green scam’ and migration

Trump touted his administration’s policies allowing for expanded drilling for oil and natural gas in the United States, and aggressively cracking down on illegal immigration, implicitly suggesting more countries should follow suit.

He sharply warned that European nations that have more welcoming migration policies and commit to expensive energy projects aimed at reducing their carbon footprint were causing irreparable harm to their economies and cultures.

“I’m telling you that if you don’t get away from the ‘green energy’ scam, your country is going to fail,” Trump said. “If you don’t stop people that you’ve never seen before that you have nothing in common with, your country is going to fail.”

Trump added, “I love the people of Europe, and I hate to see it being devastated by energy and immigration. This double-tailed monster destroys everything in its wake, and they cannot let that happen any longer.”

Trump makes dramatic shift on Russia-Ukraine war

Trump also addressed Russia’s war in Ukraine, once again threatening to hit Moscow with “a very strong round of powerful tariffs” if Russian President Vladimir Putin does not come to the table to end the war.

He waited until after the speech, and a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to announce a dramatic shift in his position on the war: He said he now believes Ukraine, with the help of NATO, can win back all territory lost to Russia.

Trump wrote in part in his post. “I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option.”

The strengthened support from Trump, if it sticks, is a huge win for Zelenskyy, who has urged the American president to keep up the pressure on Putin to end his brutal war on Ukraine.

Trump going back to his 2024 campaign insisted that he would quickly end the war. And he’s frequently suggested that U.S. interests in the outcome were limited.

“Russia has been fighting aimlessly for three and a half years a War that should have taken a Real Military Power less than a week to win,” Trump wrote. “This is not distinguishing Russia. In fact, it is very much making them look like ‘a paper tiger.’”

Trump speaks out on Palestinian statehood push

The president also pushed back on longtime American allies who are using this year’s General Assembly to spotlight the growing international campaign for recognition of a Palestinian state, a move that the U.S. and Israel vehemently oppose.

France became the latest nation to recognize Palestinian statehood on Monday at the start of a high-profile meeting at the U.N. aimed at galvanizing support for a two-state solution to the Mideast conflict.

Trump sharply criticized the effort.

“The rewards would be too great for Hamas terrorists,” Trump said. “This would be a reward for these horrible atrocities, including Oct. 7.”

The president also took part in a group meeting with officials from Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Pakistan, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Jordan for talks focused on ending the Gaza war.

“This is my most important meeting,” Trump said. “But this is the one that’s very important to me because we’re going to end something that should have probably never started.”

Trump pokes at UN for escalator, teleprompter issues

Early in his speech, Trump broke from his prepared remarks to bemoan an inoperable escalator in U.N. headquarters that he happened upon as well as a defective teleprompter.

“These are the two things I got from the United Nations: a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter,” Trump poked, eliciting laughs from delegates and leaders.

Stephane Dujarric, the U.N. spokesperson, said the escalator’s abrupt stop happened after a videographer who accompanied the U.S. delegation may have inadvertently triggered a built-in safety mechanism.

A U.N. official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue said the White House was operating the teleprompter for the president.

Trump has Oslo dreams

The president again made clear that he wants to be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize, repeating his spurious claim that he’s “ended seven wars” since he returned to office.

“Everyone says that I should get the Nobel Prize — but for me, the real prize will be the sons and daughters who live to grow up because millions of people are no longer being killed in endless wars,” Trump said in his address.

Trump regularly points to his administration’s efforts to end several conflicts around the world, including fighting between Israel and Iran, India and Pakistan, and Egypt and Sudan.

“It’s too bad that I had to do these things instead of the United Nations doing them,” Trump said. “Sadly, in all cases, the United Nations did not even try to help in any of them.”

Although Trump helped mediate relations among many of these nations, experts say his impact isn’t as clear cut as he claims.

The United States at the behest of Israel attacked Iran. The United States on false pretenses struck Iranian nuclear facilities on the belief that the country is working on nuclear weapons. The incident provoked global tension and is a precrusor to World War III.

Iran continues to deny building nuclear weapons. However, the strikes by the U.S. and earlier Israel has probably made Iran more likely to develop nuclear weapons to defend themselves from another invasion.

Iran is working to build alliances with Pakistan, Russia, North Korea and China to prevent Israel and the United States from targeting them again.

Israel has invaded Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt, Iraq, Qatar and Iran all this year. The world is getting tired of this and want to punish Israel.

The United States is by far the only country constantly blocking every United Nations resolution, every peace deal, every Palestinian mandate and every attempt to retaliate against Israel.

Israel continues to worsen its image. Despite this, Israel is moving forward with its genocide and expulsion of Palestinians.

A $50 membership gets you at least a Kirkland hotdog for $1.50. Everything else is expensive at Costco. Also you cannot allow others to use your membership because of Palantir facial recognition devices.

The U.S. now wants to punish everyone. As Australia, Canada, Great Britain, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Portugal recognize Palestine, the U.S. is threatening tariffs, revoking of passports and denial of entry.

As the United Nations convenes for its annual summit, Iranian diplomats are coming to the United States to discuss the latest developments with their country.

President Donald J. Trump, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, U.S. Ambassador to United Nations Mike Waltz and Department of Treasury Scott Bessent are making it harder for Iranian diplomats to spend money while in New York City.

The idiots at the behest of Israel are blocking several nations from shopping or spending in the United States. Iran being one of them.

The Trump administration has barred Iranian diplomats based in or visiting New York from shopping at wholesale club stores like Costco and purchasing luxury goods in the United States without specific permission from the State Department.

“We will not allow the Iranian regime to allow its clerical elites to have a shopping spree in New York while the Iranian people endure poverty, crumbling infrastructure, and dire shortages of water and electricity,” the department said in a statement.

In notices to be published this week in the Federal Register, the department’s Office of Foreign Missions determined that diplomatic memberships in wholesale club stores as well as diplomats’ ability to buy items such as watches, furs, jewelry, handbags, wallets, perfumes, tobacco, alcohol and cars are a “benefit” requiring U.S. government approval.

However, the only country whose diplomats were specifically targeted is Iran. Stores like Costco have been a favorite of Iranian diplomats posted to and visiting New York because they are able to buy large quantities of products not available in their economically isolated country for relatively cheap prices and send them home.

“By preventing Iranian regime officials from exploiting diplomatic travel to the UN as a means to obtain goods unavailable to the Iranian public, we are sending a clear message: When the United States says it stands with the people of Iran, we mean it,” the State Department said.

The move is another step in the Trump administration’s crackdown on visas, including for leaders and diplomats seeking to serve as representatives at the United Nations. While world leaders are gathering this week for the high-profile annual meeting at the international body, the new U.S. restrictions permanently apply to any Iranian diplomats representing their country at the U.N. year-round.

The determinations, which were posted online Monday and to be printed Tuesday, said Iranian diplomats and their dependents must “obtain approval from the Department of State prior to: obtaining or otherwise retaining membership at any wholesale club store in the United States, to include but not limited to Costco, Sam’s Club, or BJ’s Wholesale Club, and acquiring items from such wholesale club stores through any means.”

In addition, Iranian diplomats in the U.S. must also receive permission to purchase luxury items valued at more than $1,000 and vehicles valued at more that $60,000, said Clifton Seagroves, the head of the Office of Foreign Missions.

The items defined as “luxury goods” include watches, leather apparel and clothing accessories, silk apparel and clothing accessories, footwear, fur skins and artificial furs, handbags, wallets, fountain pens, cosmetics, perfumes and toilet waters, works of art, antiques, carpets, rugs, tapestries, pearls, gems, precious and semi-precious stones or jewelry containing them, precious metals, electronics and appliances, recreational sports articles, musical instruments, cigarettes and cigars, wine, spirits and beer.

Earlier this month, U.S. officials said they were considering the restrictions, which Seagroves signed on Sept. 16 and 18.

The Trump administration has already denied visas for Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and his large delegation to attend the U.N. General Assembly. In addition to Iran, the administration also was considering restrictions to be imposed on delegations from Sudan, Zimbabwe and Brazil.

Iranian diplomats can get people to deliver through Uber, Lyft, Shipt and DoorDash. They don't have to shop at Costco when they can have Americans deliver the goods without any interruptions.

No worries, who wants to pay for goods from the U.S. when the prices are expensive anyways.

Trump's tariffs have spiked up supplies and it makes difficult for consumers.

If James Christian Kimmel runs as an independent for President of the United States, I would support his bid. The only thing I have to say if he does, he must support a permanent end to Israeli aid and demand an end to its apartheid.

The backlash against ABC Studios Entertainment and Disney was so intense. The controversy surrounding the indefinite suspension of comedian Jimmy Kimmel has gotten an intense backlash that spells trouble for the Walt Disney Company.

Jimmy returns to television Tuesday.

There is a boycott in effect against Disney, Marvel, LucasFilm, Fox Entertainment, ABC News, ESPN, Hulu and Disney+.

ABC will reinstate Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show in the wake of criticism over his comments about the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, officials with the network said Monday.

“We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday,” ABC said a statement.

ABC suspended Kimmel indefinitely on Wednesday after comments he made about Kirk, who was killed Sept. 10, in a monologue. Kimmel said “many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk” and that “the MAGA gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”

Kimmel has hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on ABC since 2003 and has been a fixture in television and comedy for even longer. He is also well known as a presenter, having hosted the Academy Awards four times.

Backlash to Kimmel’s comments was swift. Far right broadcasters Nexstar and Sinclair, two of ABC’s largest affiliate owners, said they would be pulling “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” from their stations. Others, including several fellow comedians, came to his defense.

Sinclair said Monday that it would not air Kimmel’s show Tuesday and would broadcast news programming instead. “Discussions with ABC are ongoing as we evaluate the show’s potential return,” the company said. There was no immediate comment from Nexstar on its plans for Kimmel’s return.

Andrew Kolvet, a spokesperson for Turning Point USA, the organization founded by Kirk and now headed by his widow, posted on X about Kimmel’s reinstatement: “Disney and ABC caving and allowing Kimmel back on the air is not surprising, but it’s their mistake to make. Nexstar and Sinclair do not have to make the same choice.”

Stephen Colbert joyfully reacted to the news during the opening of his “Late Show,” telling his audience that “our long national, late nightmare is over.”

Colbert, whose late show is being canceled by CBS after this season, said he was happy for his friend and the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” staff. Grabbing his recently-won Emmy Award for outstanding talk series, the comedian could hardly contain his glee. He added, “Once more, I am the only martyr on late night!”

President Donald Trump, one of Kimmel’s frequent targets, posted on social media that Kimmel’s suspension was “great news for America.” He also called for other late night hosts to be fired. He has yet to comment on Kimmel’s reinstatement.

Kimmel’s suspension arrived in a time when Trump and his administration have pursued threats, lawsuits and federal government pressure to try to exert more control over the media industry. Trump has reached settlements with ABC and CBS over their coverage.

Trump has also filed defamation lawsuits against The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Republicans in Congress stripped federal funding from NPR and PBS.

Trump and Kimmel on good terms back in 2015.

Brendan Carr, the head of the Federal Communications Commission, issued a warning prior to Kimmel’s suspension that criticized Kimmel’s remarks about the Kirk assassination.

“We can do this the easy way or the hard way,” Carr said. “These companies can find ways to change conduct, to take action, frankly, on Kimmel, or there is going to be additional work for the FCC ahead.”

Carr denied on Monday that he threatened to revoke ABC’s local station licenses because of Kimmel’s remarks.

“Jimmy Kimmel is in the situation he’s in because of his ratings. Not because of anything that’s happened at the federal government level,” Carr said at the Concordia Annual Summit.

Kimmel’s suspension has cast a spotlight on the web of business interests that require approval from the U.S. government. Disney, for instance, needs approval from the Trump administration for ESPN to complete its acquisition of the NFL Network, while Nexstar needs the administration’s approval to complete its $6.2 billion purchase of broadcast rival Tegna. Sinclair has petitioned the FCC to relax rules limiting broadcaster ownership of stations.

The suspension also happened at a time when the late night landscape is shifting. CBS announced the cancellation of Colbert’s show over the summer.

Kimmel’s contract with The Walt Disney Co.-owned network had been set to expire in May 2026. His representative did not return a message seeking comment Monday.

Word of the reinstatement came as hundreds of Hollywood and Broadway stars — including Robert De Niro, Ben Affleck, Jennifer Aniston, Selena Gomez, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep — urged Americans “fight to defend and preserve our constitutionally protected rights” in the wake of Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension.

More than 430 movie, TV and stage stars as well as comedians, directors and writers added their names to an open letter Monday from the American Civil Liberties Union that argues it is “a dark moment for freedom of speech in our nation.”

Also Monday, ABC’s “The View” weighed in on the controversy after not raising it for two episodes after Kimmel was suspended. Co-host Whoopi Goldberg opened the show saying: “No one silences us” and she and her fellow hosts condemned Disney’s decision.

New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani said Monday evening he’s willing to appear at a town hall hosted by a local ABC station after earlier canceling his appearance due to Kimmel’s suspension.

The UN should decree an end to religious ethnostates.

The United States warns retaliation against our allies. Once this happens, expect Mexico to break from the USMCA and join BRICS. The USMCA will collapse which means our economy could suffer. Canada and the United States will hold trades (for the time being).

On Sunday, a significant shift in foreign policy and a step away from the declining alignment with the United States, with several other European nations and U.S. allies set to follow suit this week.

“Today, to revive the hope of peace for the Palestinians and Israelis, and a two state solution, the United Kingdom formally recognizes the State of Palestine,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement.

Canada had, moments before, become the first Group of 7 nation to recognize the state of Palestine, as Prime Minister Mark Carney promised a "peaceful future for both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel."

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese released a statement shortly after formally recognizing "the independent and sovereign State of Palestine."

An angry Netanyahu said in a statement: “We will have to fight both at the UN and in all other arenas against the false propaganda against us and the calls for the establishment of a Palestinian state that will endanger our existence and constitute an absurd reward for terrorism. The international community will hear from us on this matter in the coming days.”

Netanyahu accused the foreign leaders of giving Hamas a “prize.”

“It will not happen,” he said. “A Palestinian state will not be established west of the Jordan River.”

The Israeli Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on X that it “categorically rejects” the declarations by the United Kingdom and other countries.

“This declaration does not promote peace, but on the contrary — further destabilizes the region and undermines the chances of achieving a peaceful solution in the future,” the statement said.

Hamas applauded the decision, calling it a “rightful outcome of our people’s struggle, steadfastness, and sacrifices on the path to liberation and return.”

The move, which is largely symbolic, grants the Palestinians increased diplomatic standing and the potential for treaty-making.

But it does not fundamentally change the realities on the ground in the Gaza Strip, where the humanitarian crisis continues to worsen after nearly two years of war, or the occupied West Bank, where Palestinians have come under increasing pressure from Jewish settlers and the military.

More than 495,000 innocent people killed in Gaza since October 2023, including thousands of children, according to the local Palestinian Health Ministry, with much of the territory destroyed and the majority of the population driven from their homes, often multiple times.

Israeli strikes killed at least 34 people in Gaza City overnight, health officials said Sunday, as Israel pressed ahead with its offensive in the enclave's most populous city, where hundreds of thousands of people have been living under famine.

Better late than never.

It is against that backdrop that a growing list of countries, many of them traditional backers of Israel, have said they will recognize Palestine.

The U.K. said in July it would recognize Palestine as a state unless the Israeli government “takes substantive steps to end the appalling situation" in Gaza, and its official recognition comes amid mounting international criticism of Israel over the war in the enclave.

“In the face of the growing horror in the Middle East, we are acting to keep alive the possibility of peace and of a two-state solution," Starmer said. “That means a safe and secure Israel alongside a viable Palestinian state — at the moment we have neither.”

Britain's decision has angered its close ally Israel, as well as the United States, which argues that recognition emboldens extremists and rewards Hamas, the group that led the Oct. 7, 2023, terrorist attacks on Israel in which 1,200 people were killed and around 250 were taken hostage, marking a major escalation in the decadeslong conflict.

Recognition of a Palestinian state is “nothing but a reward for jihadist Hamas — emboldened by its Muslim Brotherhood affiliated in the U.K.,” Israel’s foreign ministry said on X.

“Hamas leaders themselves openly admit: this recognition is a direct outcome, the ‘fruit’ for the 7 October massacre,” it said.

The Hostage and Missing Families Forum, a group representing hostage families, condemned the decision to recognize a Palestinian state while "turning a blind eye" to the hostages who remain in captivity.

"We believe that any discussion about recognizing a Palestinian state must be contingent upon the immediate release of all hostages," it said in a statement Sunday.

Starmer said recognition was "not a reward for Hamas," because it means Hamas can have no future, and no role in government. Albanese also said Hamas must have "no role in Palestine."

The U.K.'s recognition is part of a wider shift among U.S. allies, bringing them closer to the more than 140 out of 193 U.N. member states that have already recognized Palestine as a state.

France is expected to formally declare its recognition Monday at a United Nations conference in New York co-chaired with Saudi Arabia, coinciding with the start of the General Assembly.

French President Emmanuel Macron said Saturday on Israeli television Channel 12 that nations “have to recognize the legitimate right of Palestinian people to have a state.”

He also denounced Israel's new ground offensive in Gaza City as "absolutely unacceptable" and "a huge mistake."

Portugal also confirmed Saturday it would recognize a Palestinian state Sunday.

Other countries on the brink of recognition include Belgium, Portugal, Luxembourg and New Zealand, which are likely to act either immediately before or at the U.N. special conference on a two-state solution in New York on Monday.

Spain, Norway and Ireland recognized a state of Palestine last year.

The creation of a Palestinian state refers to the West Bank and the Gaza Strip, with East Jerusalem as its capital. Israel occupies both the West Bank and Gaza, meaning the Palestinian Authority is not in full control of its land or people.

Israeli authorities recently approved a new settlement project that ultranationalist lawmakers see as a death knell for dreams of Palestinian statehood.

Two men were detained before they were released. One man claimed he shot Kirk. George Zinn is facing state and federal charges for obstruction and interference of an investigation. Zinn also faces charges for child pornography. 

The suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

2025 will be wrapping up soon. Kirk will be certainty on the list.

When the FBI released the transcripts of texts between a witness and the shooter, it was considered suspicious.

A professional tiger handler was killed by a tiger. Ryan Easley was killed Saturday after he was fatally mauled by a tiger that he had trained for years at Growler Pines Tiger Preserve in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Few details on the attack are available so far, but ABC’s World News Tonight had a brief report on Easley’s death on Sunday evening.

“An exact cause has not been released, but sources tell ABC News [that Easley was performing an educational demonstration with a tiger he’s trained since he was a cub when the animal apparently turned on him,” Sunday anchor Linsey Davis reported.

Easley had been a handler for years and was reportedly an “associate” of Joe Exotic, the star of Netflix’s “Tiger King” documentary, according to the The Oklahoman. KOCO 5, a local ABC affiliate in Oklahoma City, reported the preserve announced Easley died during “an accident involving a tiger under his care.”

“This tragedy is a painful reminder of both the beauty and unpredictability of the natural world,” the preserve said on its Facebook account. “Ryan understood those risks — not out of recklessness but out of love. The animals under his care were not just animals to him, but beings he formed a connection with — one rooted in respect, daily care and love.”

Growler Pines Tiger Preserve, NBC News reported, has canceled all tours and animal encounters following Easley’s death.

It’s not known whether Easley’s wife Eliane and their 9-year-old daughter Lily were present at the time of the attack.

Easley became an apprentice circus tiger trainer at the age of 21, before founding ShowMe Tigers, a company focused on the “proper care” and training of “performing tigers,” according to its website, in 2015. ShowMe Tigers is a part of the larger Growler Pines preserve.

Ryan Easley paid the price for messing with wild animals.

“In 2011, his mentor retired and left him with five tigers, including Zeya, a 13-year-old still with the family,” according to an article in Oklahoma Living. “The original five formed the foundation of his business, ShowMe Tigers. He added educational components to entertainment — teaching the public how and why they train tigers.”

Beyond receiving local acclaim for his work with tigers, some animal rights activists also accused Easley of mistreatment in the past. The Humane Society, in 2017, accused Easley of whipping a tiger 31 times in two minutes and forcing his animals to live in poor conditions.

Hugo, where the attack took place, has been nicknamed “Circus City USA,” for its history as a winter home for dozens of circuses throughout the United States.

ShowMe Tigers has about 9,500 followers on Facebook, where the business features several pictures of Easley with tigers.

Tigers are alpha predators. They are actually larger than lions. They are extremely agile, fast and relentless when trying to hubt prey. The tiger has a strong bite force.

On the level of how Tigers are, the bite is strong as a big cat but not as deadly as a crocodile bite. Tigers have two predators: man and crocodile.

Kirk, the co founder of Turning Point USA was assassinated by white man in Utah.

The suspect is being charged with capital murder and second degree murder. The suspect is being held under mental health wellness and suicide watch.

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Kirk’s tragic killing has become a catalyst of the deep political divisions he and the far right created.

The white nationalist is being laid to rest.

The divisions are very deep and Trump is not working to bring people together. 

Kirk was a divisive person. He left behind a legacy of white nationalism, Christian nationalism, misogyny, lack of empathy towards others and racism.

Protesters tried to block vehicles Friday outside a federal immigration enforcement building in suburban Chicago, leading to a confrontation with authorities who arrested multiple people and used a chemical agent to disperse the crowd.

The protest is part of steady pushback against an immigration enforcement surge focused on Chicago and surrounding communities, which has put more federal agents on the streets charged with delivering on President Donald Trump’s promise of mass deportations. The Department of Homeland Security said Friday that almost 550 people have been arrested as part of an operation that launched just under two weeks ago.

Friday’s protest included dozens of people carrying American flags and signs with the words “Hands off Chicago.” Some participants tried to block a car from exiting the facility’s yard and were met with federal officers who deployed chemical agents that released white clouds that drove the protesters back, according to videos taken outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement building in Broadview, about 12 miles (19 kilometers) west of Chicago.

The Chicago chapter of the National Lawyers Guild, which provided legal observers for Friday’s protest, said at least 10 people were arrested by federal agents. They also reported that some people were injured and required hospitalization, according to Brad Thomson, an attorney with the guild.

“Our legal observers saw less-lethal force such as pepper balls and tear gas used indiscriminately against demonstrators, legal observers, and the media,” he said late Friday in an email to The Associated Press.

Earlier in the day, ICE Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin had said in a statement to the AP that three people were taken into custody.

The Broadview site is a two-story building that has been used to temporarily hold immigrants before they’re detained or deported. Its windows have been covered with wood boards for weeks. Protesters have regularly gathered there, including Catholic nuns who pray during vigils.

Kat Abughazaleh (known as Kat Abu) is a comedian, media critic, media personality and social media influencer. She is running to replace retiring Jan Schakowsky, longtime U.S. House member who announced retirement.

Friday’s protest drew advocates, residents and Democratic officials or politicians — several of whom were among the protest crowd affected by the officers’ response.

Kat Abughazaleh, a congressional candidate who has joined protesters on several days, told the AP that she was thrown on the ground by federal agents and hit with tear gas Friday as she stood arm-in-arm with others in front of a driveway, blocking a car.

Abughazaleh said officers dragged one of her friends away before others picked her up and threw her on the pavement. Abughazaleh said agents then used tear gas and pepper balls, causing her eyes to run and her throat to burn.

“Protesters were completely peaceful,” she said. “We had no weapons, just signs and songs. We were afraid and angry.”

ICE officials, meanwhile, described the protesters as “rioters” and accused them of assaulting law enforcement, slashing car tires and blocking the entrance of the facility.

Demonstrators gathered outside the building again on Friday evening. Video posted online showed protesters falling back when white smoke filled the air and officers in gas masks exited a gate.

McLaughlin said local police refused to answer multiple calls for assistance from federal law enforcement. The Broadview Police Department did not immediately respond to messages Friday.

Activists and local leaders lately have stepped up pushback to the surge of immigration agents in the Chicago area, aiming to deter agents, warn residents and keep attention on a man killed by an immigration officer last week.

Authorities said agents were pursuing a man with a history of reckless driving who had entered the country illegally. They said Silverio Villegas Gonzalez evaded arrest and dragged an officer with his vehicle. The government said the officer fired because he feared for his life.

“They want us to be afraid,” Illinois Lt. Gov. Juliana Stratton, a Democrat, said in reference to the Trump administration. “They want us to just kind of go into our little corners and not do anything. ... We’re not going to let that happen.”

Kat has done numerous videos taking aim at President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Rupert Murdoch, Piers Morgan, Tucker Carlson, Jesse Watters, Laura Ingraham, Steve Bannon and Sean "Softball" Hannity.

The supporters of former vice president Kamala Harris are playing on this "We tried to warn you" nonsense. How can you morally stand on principles of being a progressive and back Israel?

First and foremost, Americans have a right to vote for whomever they chose.

Second, Harris failed to win over voters. She stuck with former president Joe Biden on the economy, Israel, Ukraine, immigration and inflation. The former president failed to listen to voters and his base.

The former president gave unilateral support and cover. We knew Trump would be worse. We demanded that Biden put pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel to stop killing and invading other countries.

That shows the "tone deafness" within the party. 

It is not Rep. Rashida Tlaib's (D-MI) fault for Biden and Harris' missteps. She warned them that Arab Americans did not like being ignored. 

30% of Biden's 2020 base were disappointed with his stances on Israel.

Progessive influncers are practically on these platforms saying that they ain't helping the former Biden/Harris voters who voted for as Trump. 

That's perfectly fine. 

It makes them more independent and it declines support for Democratic candidates.

The U.S. is pulling out of the Paris Climate Accords, UN Human Rights, UNRWA and the World Health Organization. It puts us at risk for global pandemics, catastrophic weather events and potential boycotts of American products.

The economy is still the same.

Israel is still conducting its genocide.

Immigrants are being deported in a inhumane way.

Project 2025 and Greater Israel are very unpopular.

A Black man saved a vulnerable woman from a sexual predator.

A man was caught in a Dayton, Ohio alley sexually assaulting a vulnerable woman inside of a caretaker van.

It is getting national attention after a Black man looking for his dog witness this lewd act. The caretaker was eventually arrested and is held in the Montgomery County lockup for kidnapping, sexuality assault, gross sexual imposition, battery and neglecting contempt.

The victim was disabled with no ability to know what was right and wrong.

The former Graceworks Lutheran Services employee is facing charges after he allegedly sexually assaulted a woman with developmental disabilities.

Graceworks released a statement on Wednesday and confirmed the worker was fired.

“We are outraged by the information we have received to this point, and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement to ensure this investigation is handled swiftly, and that the suspect is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” the statement read.

“Graceworks takes the safety, dignity and well-being of those in our care very seriously and we are committed to taking every measure necessary to ensure this remains our highest priority.”

Anthony W. Alcorn, 69, of New Carlisle, was charged with two counts of kidnapping and one count each of rape and gross sexual imposition in Dayton Municipal Court on Wednesday.

Local man stumbled upon a disturbing situation involving a woman with developmental disabilities.

Authorities say she was under the supervision of Anthony Alcorn at the time of the incident.

Alcorn has been arrested and is charged with 4 felonies.

A man saw Alcorn sexually assault the woman in the back of a Graceworks transport van on Tuesday, according to court records.

The woman needs 24-hour care and lives at a group home operated by Graceworks in Beavercreek, records said.

Alcorn was allegedly driving the woman home when he pulled into an alley behind the 400 block of Burkhardt Avenue.

He took the woman out of the van and brought her to the back of the vehicle before raping her, according to an affidavit.

A video posted to social media Tuesday showed a man confronting Alcorn outside a van.

The man filming the video can be heard saying he thought the man was changing the woman’s diaper at first.

“I saw what he was doing to you, that’s not right,” he told the woman. “He’s not allowed to do that.”

Dayton police Sgt. Roberta Bailey said the department is aware of the social media video, and detectives from the Family Justice Center are investigating.

Alcorn was arrested Tuesday and is being held in the Montgomery County lockup.

Graceworks provides residential facility and social programs for adults and seniors with developmental disabilities.

Alcorn worked for Graceworks for eight years. He was a direct support professional and helped transport people in the enhanced living community.

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

If found guilty, the suspect faces 15 to LIFE. He will be registered a TIER III. He will lose his medical transport license. He will face a lawsuit from the company once they settle with the victim. The victim's family will likely sue the company for allowing this predator work for them.

This suspect has more than this victim. He knew locations where he could get away with it. So it is not just one person. It's multiple people.

It gave opportunity for a controversial former president to return to the White House. Now this president is happy to announce that TikTok U.S. is being sold to one of his donors.

President Donald J. Trump said he would meet Chinese leader Xi Jinping at a regional summit taking place at the end of October in South Korea and will visit China in the “early part of next year,” following a lengthy phone call between the two on Friday.

In a Truth Social post, Trump said Xi would come to the United States “at an appropriate time” and that they had made progress on “the approval of the TikTok Deal” to allow the popular social media app to keep operating in the U.S., though he didn’t give details.

A statement from the Chinese government did not mention the visits, nor did it offer clarity on what Xi had agreed to regarding a sale of a controlling stake by TikTok’s Chinese parent company to avoid a U.S. ban. But Xi told Trump to avoid imposing trade restrictions to keep trade ties from getting worse, according to the statement.

While the highly anticipated call suggested a cordial relationship between the leaders of the world’s two largest economies, their statements showed the challenges facing two countries with conflicting worldviews that are so entwined. A fundamental sign of cooperation was a willingness to meet face to face.

Later Friday, Trump said American investors were lined up on TikTok and described Xi as “a gentleman” in the negotiations. But Trump was vague on the ownership of TikTok’s algorithm, a critical technology that populates what users see on the app and is subject to Beijing’s export restrictions.

“It’s all being worked out,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, saying the call with Xi lasted nearly two hours. “We’re going to have very good control.”

Efforts to finalize the TikTok deal

ByteDance, TikTok’s Chinese-owned parent company, thanked both leaders in a statement and expressed interest in ongoing negotiations to ensure the app’s services continue for U.S. users, without providing much insight into how the ownership question would be resolved. Trump said the deal was “well on its way.”

The Trump administration said this week that a framework deal for the app’s ownership was reached with Chinese officials during trade talks in Madrid.

Trump, who has credited the app with helping him win another term, several times has extended a deadline for it to be spun off from ByteDance. It is a requirement under a law passed last year seeking to address data privacy and national security concerns.

U.S. officials have been concerned about ByteDance’s roots and ownership, pointing to laws in China that require Chinese companies to hand over data requested by the government.

Chinese officials said Monday that a consensus was reached on authorization of the “use of intellectual property rights,” including the algorithm, and that the two sides agreed on entrusting a partner with handling U.S. user data and content security.

During the call, Xi told Trump that Beijing ”would be happy to see productive commercial negotiations in keeping with market rules,” which would “lead to a solution that complies with China’s laws and regulations and takes into account the interests of both sides,” according to the Chinese statement.

“The U.S. side needs to provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese investors,” it said.

Craig Singleton, senior China fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, a Washington think tank, said there does not appear to be a done deal over TikTok.

“Beijing frames market-based talks under Chinese law, keeping a de facto veto, while Trump casts himself as the final approver,” he said.

Trump and Xi speak on wider trade issues

Trump said in Friday’s social media post that the two also made progress on “many very important issues including Trade, Fentanyl, the need to bring the War between Russia and Ukraine to an end.”

A day earlier, Trump said Russia’s war in Ukraine could end if European countries put higher tariffs on China. Trump didn’t say if he planned to raise tariffs on Beijing over its purchase of Moscow’s oil, as he has done with India.

U.S. and Chinese officials have held four rounds of trade talks between May and September, with another likely in the coming weeks. Both sides have paused high tariffs and pulled back from harsh export controls.

They are yet to reach any deal, however, on tech export restrictions, Chinese purchases of U.S. agricultural products or fentanyl. The Trump administration has imposed additional 20% tariffs on Chinese goods linked to allegations that Beijing has failed to stem the flow to the U.S. of the chemicals used to make opioids.

China responded by levying additional 10% to 15% tariffs on U.S. farm goods.

Trump’s second-term trade war with Beijing has cost U.S. farmers one of their top markets. From January through July, American farm exports to China fell 53% compared with the same period last year. The damage was even greater in some commodities: U.S. sorghum sales to China, for instance, were down 97%.

Sean Stein, president of the U.S.-China Business Council, said if there is an agreement to remove the fentanyl tariffs, Beijing could roll back the retaliatory tariffs and resume purchases of U.S. farm goods and other products, he said.

“There’ll be a lot of positive market sentiment that comes from this, and it will alleviate the human costs of fentanyl,” he said.
