The controversial white nationalist lawmaker divorced his wife after eight months of marriage. The North Carolina lawmaker is one of the 120 members who have no legislative accomplishments whatsoever. The only accomplishments he has is being a troll on the internet. 

He is the youngest member of the House of Representatives. He was elected in the primary at the age of 24 and sworn in at the age of 25. He is 26 years old. He surpasses another lawmaker who has no legislative accomplishments as the youngest. She is a progressive lawmaker who has name recognition only for being a troll and in the news just as much as her conservative counterpart.

I've said it many times: "We need more lawmakers like Shontel Brown!"

Rep. Karen Cawthorn (R-NC) is the youngest member of Congress. He is disabled from the waist down after a bad car accident severed his spine. He is working on trying to regain his walking abilities. He currently uses a wheelchair.

Cawthorn is a troll. He often posts on social media his disdain for President Joe Biden. He is openly supporting the false claim that the election was stolen. He is selling "Let's Go Brandon" merchandise on his campaign website. He is also flexing his muscles and his firearms.

He was recently married to a woman he met only two years into his allegations of sexual misconduct.

He like Rep. Idiot Karen Greene (R-GA), Rep. Karen Perry (R-PA), Rep. Karen Gaetz (R-FL), Rep. Karen Boebert (R-CO), Rep. Karen Brooks (R-AL), Rep. Karen Biggs (R-AZ), Rep. Karen Gosar (R-AZ), Rep. Karen Jordan (R-OH) and Rep. Karen Gohmert (R-TX) represent the white nationalist Freedumb Caucus. 

They are considered extremists and worthless as legislators. The opposite of the Freedumb Caucus is the Progressive Caucus (and the Squad). 

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Rep. Ro Khanna (D-CA), Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) and Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) are the least productive members of the Democratic caucus.

They are often in the news for some form of controversy. They are the driving forces between keeping Americans angry, bitter and misinformed. 

While I believe these lawmakers are willing to do something for their constituents, they're more of activists and that's not what we need right now!

Cawthorn and his wife Cristina Bayardelle Cawthorn are divorcing after being married for slightly less than a year, with the GOP congressman citing a change in his lifestyle after his election into the House of Representatives.

Cawthorn, 26, said that he and his wife had run into "irreconcilable differences," in a statement tweeted Wednesday by his representative Luke Ball.

"When Cristina and I were engaged, I was not a member of Congress. I felt called to serve, and we both agreed that I should run," the statement read. "Our victory was unprecedented, but overnight our lives changed. That change has been both hectic and difficult. It's neither the pace nor the lifestyle we had planned for."

He said that he and Bayardelle, 28, "committed to mak[ing] things work" and sought "counsel for balancing the enormity of such a transition in life."

"Together, we realized that balance was not attainable and that we had irreconcilable differences between us. While it was an enormously difficult decision, Cristina and I have mutually decided to divorce," Cawthorn's statement continued.

Cawthorn and Bayardelle were legally married on Dec. 30, 2020, North Carolina newspaper BlueRidgeNow previously reported. They later held a religious wedding on April 3 of this year, the anniversary of the 2014 car accident that left the congressman partially paralyzed using a wheelchair.

On the day of his wedding, the representative had called marrying Bayardelle "the greatest honor, privilege, and adventure of my life."

Two days before his divorce announcement, Cawthorn had advocated for marrying young at the "Americafest" conference run by Turning Point USA.

"People will call me a radical for believing that, you know, you should be a Christian, you should get married young, you should have as many kids as possible, you should be as successful as you possibly can," he said on Monday. "They'll say I'm an extremist for that."

"And I just look at 'em and said: How can you believe that?" he said.

Cawthorn's press office did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Bayardelle told FOX46 News that she and Cawthorn had shared an "incredible journey together" and still had a "great friendship."

Cawthorn's political career has been marked by multiple controversies. Prior to his election last November, several women he went to college with accused him of sexual misconduct. In February, he attempted to board a plane with a gun and a loaded magazine. More recently, Cawthorn has positioned himself as an anti-mask, anti-vaccine firebrand, and has attended school board meetings across North Carolina to advocate against mask and vaccine mandates. 

In April, Cawthorn missed 15 votes in Congress while away on honeymoon, which he defended by saying he was fulfilling his "service as a husband."

Cawthorn asked for privacy as he and Bayardelle proceed with their divorce.

As the Supreme Court is hearing two controversial state laws over abortions, one of the women who championed for women's reproductive rights has passed away.

Sarah Weddington, a Texas lawyer who as a 26-year-old successfully argued the landmark abortion rights case Roe v. Wade before the U.S. Supreme Court, died Sunday. She was 76.

Susan Hays, Weddington’s former student and colleague, said she died in her sleep early Sunday morning at her Austin home. Weddington had been in poor health for some time and it was not immediately clear what caused her death, Hays told The Associated Press.

Raised as a minister’s daughter in the West Texas city of Abilene, Weddington attended law school at the University of Texas. A couple years after graduating, she and a former classmate, Linda Coffee, brought a class-action lawsuit on behalf of a pregnant woman challenging a state law that largely banned abortions.

The case of “Jane Roe,” whose real name was Norma McCorvey, was brought against Dallas County District Attorney Henry Wade and eventually advanced to the Supreme Court.

Weddington argued the case before the high court twice, in December 1971 and again in October 1972, resulting the next year in the 7-2 ruling that legalized abortion nationwide.

Weddington’s death comes as the Supreme Court is considering a case over Mississippi’s ban on abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy that’s widely considered to be most serious challenge in years to the Roe decision.

While that case was before the court, Weddington also ran to represent Austin in the Texas House of Representatives. She was elected in 1972 and served three terms as a state lawmaker, before becoming general counsel of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and later working as advisor on women’s issues to President Jimmy Carter.

Weddington later wrote a book on Roe v. Wade, gave lectures and taught courses at the University of Texas at Austin and Texas Woman’s University on leadership, law and gender discrimination. She remained active in the political and legal worlds well into her later years, attending the 2019 signing ceremony for a New York state law meant to safeguard abortion rights should Roe v. Wade be overturned.

While the supporters of Washed Up 45 are yelling "Let's go Brandon!" and refusing to wear masks and get vaccinated, the coronavirus infection is spreading and its killing 1,500 people a day.

President Joe Biden is warning state and territorial governors that Americans will die if they don't get vaccinations or wear masks. It has been six weeks since the United States had detected the first case of the omicron variant of the coronavirus. This has exploded faster than many expected.

It is fueled by misinformation, refusal to take precautions and not getting vaccinated.

Republican governors are not willing to follow the CDC guidelines. They are not listening to American doctors and nurses. They are not listening to overworked service workers and managers. They are more concerned about "owning the libs" than saving Amer

The Republican Party is more concerned about winning control of Congress. They rather keep Americans riled up over culture wars instead of protecting their supporters.

With over 850,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus, it is more apparent that Biden's mission to defeat the coronavirus is more difficult than expected.

Since this omicron variant has become more contiguous and the delta strain has become deadlier, it appears it's going to be a mutant strain.

Biden on Monday pledged to ease a shortage of COVID-19 tests as the Omicron variant threatened to overwhelm hospitals and stifle travel plans as it spread across U.S. states this holiday week.

"Seeing how tough it was for some folks to get a test this weekend shows that we have more work to do," Biden said as he joined a call with the administration's COVID-19 response team and state governors. "It's clearly not enough."

Biden said his administration's steps include using the Defense Production Act to boost at-home test manufacturing and making it easier to use the Google search engine to find a nearby testing location.

U.S. and state officials are bracing for a wave of more cases following the Christmas holiday, with hospitalizations ticking up as New Year's loomed.

Rising cases snarled air travel over Christmas weekend, with thousands of flights canceled as flight crews contracted the virus. Curtailed cruises and limited availability of testing crimped other plans as the more transmissible variant took hold.

Over the last seven days, the average number of new cases has surged 55% to an average of over 205,000 new infections per day, according to a Reuters tally.

The number of hospitalized COVID patients, a lagging indicator, has risen 3% over the same period. Overall in December, the average number of news cases has risen 143% and hospitalizations climbed 31%.

Biden on Monday warned governors that the spike in cases was likely to overwhelm some hospitals, stretching staff and equipment like ventilators, particularly in areas where fewer people are vaccinated.

He told reporters he would follow guidance from his medical experts on whether to reduce the 10-day recommended quarantine period for Americans who test positive for COVID-19. He declined to say whether he endorses a vaccine mandate for domestic air travel, another step officials have discussed.

"They want to know what we think is going to happen from here," he told reporters afterward as he departed Washington for his home state of Delaware, citing mutual cooperation. The White House separately said Biden told governors the administration would provide any additional resources they need.

Separately on Monday, Dr. Anthony Fauci, the top U.S. infectious disease official, urged people to avoid large New Year's gatherings.

While officials say people can safely gather with families if they are vaccinated, larger celebrations are riskier.

"When we are talking about a New Year's Eve party ... I would recommend strongly stay away from that this year. There will be other years to do that, but not this year," Fauci, Biden's chief medical adviser, told CNN.

"We really still need to be extremely careful," he said separately on MSNBC.

Last week, Biden announced reinforcements to bolster hospitals and testing, but some healthcare experts say that effort is too little, too late.

Dr. Peter Hotez, dean of Baylor College of Medicine's National School of Tropical Medicine, said problems were exacerbated by issues such as shortages of testing and healthcare workers.

"You put all those things together into the mix and we have a very dangerous situation coming now in the country in the next couple of weeks," he told MSNBC on Sunday.

If only Americans got vaccinated, we would have been back to normal by July. Alas, they wanna fuck around and now they're going to find out.

Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.

President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.

But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war. 

With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.

The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

As a child of the 1980s and growing up watching awesome cartoons, it's shame that T. Mark Taylor passed away. Obviously, I owned Transformers, G.I. Joe, He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Real Ghostbusters, M.A.S.K., Chuck Norris' Karate Kommandos, Toxic Avenger, Legos, Hot Wheels, Matchbox, Micro Machines, Lionel Trains, Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Gameboy, Sega Genesis, GoBots and whatever else my parents bought me.

Now as a father, my son is addicted to Ben 10, Marvel, Transformers, Hot Wheels and YouTube.

We can credit toy designer T. Mark Taylor for making iconic toys.

He passed away at the age of 80.

The cause of his death was congestive heart failure. His family confirmed to the Associated Press.

He was best known for making the designs of the He-Man and the Masters of The Universe and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. 

He-Man is best known as the muscled frontman for Mattel's line of toys in the 1980s. He would take on Skeletor and other enemies in the land of Eternia. 

Prince Adam will change into He-Man to protect Castle Grayskull from the evils of Skeletor.

He-man was the muscled frontman for toy manufacturer Mattel’s Masters of the Universe franchise, which would later spawn an animated series that became a staple for children. Kids squeezed in homework between scenes featuring the strapping cartoon hero as he battled sorcerers and other villains.

He-Man and Battlecat were very popular toys in the 1980s.

He-Man might have been known as a hulking superhero warrior but also became an icon within the LGBTQ community, who saw parallels in the secret life of Prince Adam, He-Man’s alter ego.

As in the case of many creative endeavors, many hands shaped the franchise. Taylor has said the prototypes date back to his own childhood as he fantasized about being “the next hero.” He said he based the concept of He-Man on his vision of Cro-Magnon men, as well as Vikings.

Mattel sold more than 70 million action figures from its Masters of the Universe collection within 30 months after it hit stores nearly 40 years ago, according to The New York Times.

Taylor began his career with El Segundo-based Mattel in 1976 as a packaging designer, his family said.

Mattel did not respond to a request for comment Saturday.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles franchise — featuring pizza-loving Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and Leonardo — launched a long-running animated series, live-action movies and a catchphrase: cowabunga!

While Taylor did not create any of the characters, his work as a designer helped propel them into iconic childhood images for many around the world, including action figures and costumes that flew off stores’ shelves.

Terrell Mark Taylor — who went by his middle name, Mark — was born on June 5, 1941, according to California voter registration records. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, designer Rebecca Salari-Taylor of Ranchos Palos Verdes.

“I felt him say goodbye to this world as I held him in my arms for one final loving kiss,” Salari-Taylor wrote in a Facebook post.

Taylor’s family said his father-in-law, Tony Salari, told the artist, “If you can draw well, everything will be okay.”

Taylor took pinstriping commissions for “hot rod” cars as a teen in Redondo Beach in the early 1950s, his family said. He later attended the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena.

Taylor went on to work for the U.S. Department of Defense in Pasadena and contributed to projects for submarines, biological and technical sonar technology and seafloor mapping, his family said.

Taylor’s toy work was featured in documentaries, including “Power of Grayskull” and “The Toys That Made Us.”

“If I was going to do a hero for today, it would be a female hero — because it’s the time, because the heroes of our time are women. ... Us men had our day,” Taylor told fans during an appearance at a He-Man festival in 2015.

An Idaho sheriff is facing calls for his resignation after he pulled a gun on a van of churchgoers who at his home to leave a secret Santa gift.

The officials call upon him to step down after he aimed a gun at this church youth group who wanted to thank him for his years of dedicated serve to Bingham County.

The Shoshone-Bannock tribe condemned the Idaho sheriff.

Sheriff Karen Rowland, 62 was allegedly pulling a church van driver by the hair at gunpoint. 

The incident happened on Nov. 9 when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints girls' group were going door-to-door to leave "thank you" messages for community leaders.

A group of girls aged between 12 and 16 had placed a note on the sheriff's door.

The girls were getting back into the vehicle when the asshole waved down the driver with one hand while brandishing a firearm. He would point his firearm at the victim --- who he known for over 30 years -- and at two girls before demanding the woman "get the fuck out the car."

The Idaho State Journal reported this disturbing incident and it had the police report.

The sheriff pulled the woman by her hair and pointed the firearm close to her head. 

After the victim said that she was dropping off anonymous Thanksgiving cards, the sheriff told the group to never approach their home again before letting them go.

He admitted to holding the woman a gunpoint and was charged with aggravated battery and aggravated assault.

The case became a national issue when the sheriff made a racist remark to the whole ordeal. He said that the group could have been "drunk Indians." The Native American tribal agencies were not happy about the remarks.

The Shoshone-Bannock nation had condemned this as a racist remark.

He defended his actions.

Mormon girls.

"I have been doing this job for 36 years, I've had drunk Indians drive down my cul-de-sac, I've had drunk Indians come to my door. I live just off the reservation, we have a lot of reservation people around us that are not good people."

The members of the church were not affiliated with the Shoshone-Bannock group.

The tribal groups along with the Bingham County board leaders call for him to get out of the way.

"I hope that our current sheriff would again consider resignation as an option to allow Bingham County to begin the healing process," said Bingham County prosecutor Paul Rogers in a statement. "(At) some point the damage to the Sheriff's Office becomes irreparable regardless of the outcome of the newly-filed case."

The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Desmond Tutu fought for a free South Africa. He passed away at the age of 90.

World leaders react to his passing. He fought against apartheid in South Africa and became a Nobel Peace Prize-winning Anglican cleric whose good humor, inspiring message and conscientious work for civil and human rights made him a legend.

President Cyril Ramaphosa shared his thoughts on the passing by releasing a statement.

"A patriot without equal."

"A man of extraordinary intellect, integrity and invincibility against the forces of apartheid, he was also tender and vulnerable in his compassion for those who had suffered oppression, injustice, and violence under apartheid, and oppressed and downtrodden people around the world," said Ramaphosa.

For six decades, Tutu -- known affectionately as "the Arch" -- was one of the primary voices in exhorting the South African government to end apartheid, the country's official policy of racial segregation. After apartheid ended in the early '90s and the long-imprisoned Nelson Mandela became president of the country, Tutu was named chair of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission.

The Nelson Mandela foundation called Tutu's loss "immeasurable."

"He was larger than life, and for so many in South Africa and around the world his life has been a blessing," the foundation said in a statement. "His contributions to struggles against injustice, locally and globally, are matched only by the depth of his thinking about the making of liberatory futures for human societies."

Tutu's civil and human rights work led to prominent honors from around the world. Former US President Barack Obama awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. Obama called Tutu a "mentor, a friend, and a moral compass" in a statement after his death.

"Archbishop Tutu was grounded in the struggle for liberation and justice in his own country, but also concerned with injustice everywhere. He never lost his impish sense of humor and willingness to find humanity in his adversaries," said Obama.

President Joe Biden also mourned Tutu on Sunday. "His courage and moral clarity helped inspire our commitment to change American policy toward the repressive Apartheid regime in South Africa," the President said in a joint statement with first lady Jill Biden. "His legacy transcends borders and will echo throughout the ages."

In 2012, Tutu was awarded a $1 million grant by the Mo Ibrahim Foundation for "his lifelong commitment to speaking truth to power." The following year, he received the Templeton Prize for his "life-long work in advancing spiritual principles such as love and forgiveness which has helped to liberate people around the world."

Most notably, he received the 1984 Nobel Peace Prize, following in the footsteps of his countryman, Albert Lutuli, who received the prize in 1960.

The Nobel cemented Tutu's status as an instrumental figure in South Africa, a position he gained in the wake of protests against apartheid. Despite anger about the policy within South Africa, as well as widespread global disapproval -- the country was banned from the Olympics from 1964 through 1988 -- the South African government quashed opposition, banning the African National Congress political party and imprisoning its leaders, including Mandela. 

It was up to the clergy to take the lead in speaking out, said Rev. Frank Chikane, the former head of the South African Council of Churches and a Tutu colleague.

"We reached the stage where the church was a protector of the people, who was the voice for the people," Chikane told CNN.

The current archbishop of Cape Town and metropolitan of the Anglican Church of Southern Africa, Thabo Makgoba, said that the church will plan Tutu's funeral and memorial services.

"Desmond Tutu's legacy is moral strength, moral courage and clarity," Makgoba said in a statement. "He felt with the people. In public and alone, he cried because he felt people's pain. And he laughed -- no, not just laughed, he cackled with delight when he shared their joy."

In Britain, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby issued statements praising Tutu for his sagacity and infectious positivity.

"(He) will be remembered for his spiritual leadership and irrepressible good humor," Johnson said.

Welby called Tutu "a prophet and priest, a man of words and action -- one who embodied the hope and joy that were the foundations of his life."

"Even in our profound sorrow we give thanks for a life so well lived," he said.
