Absolutely true, the media infamously cover high profile cases involving affluent White women and girls such as JonBenet Ramsey, Natalee Holloway, etc., while ignoring Black women victims of Anthony Sowell, the East Cleveland strangler, Henry Louis Wallace(Investigation Discovery finally does a show on the victims of "Bad Henry"), and so on.

When it comes to Black female victims, there is a common tendency to write off such women as "loose", "fast", "crackheads", "runaways", drug users, "sluts", mentally unstable, and so on.  We feed on stereotypes of Black women in both general society and the media.  The police all over America have their biases against Black women in general as well.  Sadly, even the Black community doesn't pay enough attention to Black female victims of crime,  which prompted intersectional feminists such as Kimberle Crenshaw to come up with the hash tag, #sayhername.

This book discusses how society and mainstream American media sees Black female victims of crime and the reaction of society at large toward such victims.

It's sad that we live in such of society.  It's time to see Black women as worthy of compassion and respect.
