The empty seats are reserved for Democrats. They took a pass after Trump dissed them. |
Meeting with “Chuck and Nancy” today about keeping government open and working. Problem is they want illegal immigrants flooding into our Country unchecked, are weak on Crime and want to substantially RAISE Taxes. I don’t see a deal!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 28, 2017
That led to the Democratic leaders taking a pass on Trump's photo-op with Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The inept leader is vying for votes to pass this ridiculous tax reform bill. The House Speaker and Senate Majority Leader both expressed regret that the Minority Leaders failed to work with them.
They forgot those eight years of obstructing Barack Obama's agenda.
.@realDonaldTrump now knows that his verbal abuse will no longer be tolerated. His empty chair photo opp showed he’s more interested in stunts than in addressing the needs of the American people. Poor Ryan and McConnell relegated to props. Sad!— Nancy Pelosi (@NancyPelosi) November 28, 2017
Incredibly thankful for the determination of Leandra English, the rightful Acting Director of @CFPB. #DefendCFPB pic.twitter.com/giUKsOCL2p— Nancy Pelosi (@NancyPelosi) November 29, 2017
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) and Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT) are against it. The six people who could sink Trump's tax plan are Republicans he's attacked. Look for signs from Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), Sen. Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) and Sen. Bob Crocker (R-TN).
The Democrats are strongly opposed to Trump's policies.
This afternoon was awkward. Trump did a photo-op with two empty chairs.

After North Korea missile launch, it's more important than ever to fund our gov't & military! Dems shouldn't hold troop funding hostage for amnesty & illegal immigration. I ran on stopping illegal immigration and won big. They can't now threaten a shutdown to get their demands.— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) November 29, 2017
If Congress fail at passing a budget to fund the government we could see another shutdown.
Trump and Republicans are trying to jam this tax reform bill without a hearing. It cleared through the budget committee on a partisan vote.
Trump wants to score at least one major legislative victory.
Most Americans disapprove of the tax bill. They believe it favors the rich and will not grow the economy. Republicans are putting their majority at risk.
