Black Republican Challenges Debbie Stabenow!

Republican candidate John James will face Democratic senator Debbie Stabenow.
The blue wave is a coming.

The Michigan race for the U.S. Senate got a whole lot interesting.

Donald J. Trump backed candidate John James won the primary and will be the nominee who will compete against Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI).

James is a Black Republican and he is hoping to chip off votes from a base that normally avoids voting for his kind.

Fox News reports that James, 37, defeated Sandy Pensler in the GOP primary Tuesday. The Michigan businessman and political newcomer and Pensler exchanged barbs over business records, conservative credentials and the president.

Trump endorsed James last week. James also boasted support from white extremist rocker Kid Rock and Rob O'Neill, the retired Navy SEAL who killed Al Qaeda leader Osama Bin Laden.

Early in the primary campaign, Pensler, who loaned his campaign $5 million, had a financial advantage over James, who gave only $50,000 to his campaign. James ultimately raised $3.9 million by the end of June, with an additional $1.3 million in cash by August.

James is Michigan’s first black GOP nominee for a major statewide office in more than three decades, but he says he wants to be judged based on his character.

James graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 2004, according to his campaign website bio, and became a Ranger-qualified aviation officer. He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom, where he earned a Combat Action Badge and two Air Medals while logging more than 700 hours leading two Apache platoons.
Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) is not taking anything for granted.
He returned to Michigan in 2012 and currently serves as president of the family business, James Group International. James has taken the company from $35 million to $137 million in revenue, the site states, and has created 100 jobs in Michigan and elsewhere. He is married with two young children.

James will compete against incumbent Democratic Sen. Debbie Stabenow in November, who had no primary challenger. Stabenow is seeking a fourth Senate term and has easily fended off past challengers.

Stabenow was elected to the Senate in 2000, and is a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, Senate Energy, Finance and Budget Committees. According to her website, she authored a bipartisan Farm Bill that is strengthening Michigan agriculture and making unprecedented investments in protecting the Great Lakes.
James and his family.
Though seen as an uphill battle, Republicans are optimistic that James could potentially turn the blue Senate seat red, after Trump’s victory in Michigan in the 2016 race.

"Washington has enough career politicians," James said in a news release after his victory. "We need people who have experience getting results. You aren't going to get results from a 43-year career politician. Debbie Stabenow better get ready for the fight of her political life."

If elected, James could be fourth member of the U.S. Senate. The only Black Republican who is currently serving in the Senate is Tim Scott of South Carolina. The two only Black Democrats serving in the Senate are Kamala Harris of California and Cory Booker of New Jersey.

Rashida Tlaib Will Be First Muslim Woman Elected To The House!

The blue wave is a coming.

To the right wing trolls who are reading and posting on World News Today, we want to say thank you for the comments. I will address all the comments in due time.

The seat once held by John Conyers will be held by a woman of color who is a Muslim. Rashida Tlaib is an attorney and activist. She is the daughter of Palestinian immigrants. She won the Michigan primary and special election to become the nominee for the district.

In February, Tlaib announced she would be entering the race for Michigan's 13th congressional district and with no partisan opponent in the general election, she will run unopposed. Regardless of the outcome, she will be the first female Muslim to serve in the 116th Congress.

Tlaib ia married to Fayez Tlaib. Together they have two sons, Adam and Yousif.

The first Muslim woman to join the U.S. House of Representatives is a historical achievement for the Democratic Party. She will hold a seat of a lawmaker who felt the #MeToo Movement.

Conyers was the long term lawmaker who resigned from Congress after allegations of sexual abuse and corruption came forth. He was considered one of the most corrupt lawmakers in Washington.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the Democratic nominee from New York has endorsed Tlaib for Congress.

There is going to be three Muslims serving the U.S. House of Representatives (at least until January 3, 2019). Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), the long term lawmaker is retiring to run as the Attorney General of Minnesota. He will continue as Deputy Chairman of the Democratic National Committee.

Ellison and Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) are currently members of the House who serving.

The establishment Democrats might want to rethink about keeping the status quo. I am not saying that Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi are bad people. But they are toxic to the party. Conservatives are trying to scaremonger voters into believing that the Democrats have nothing but obstruction in their sights.

We must oppose Trump and his allies.

With Rashida Tlaib in Congress, she will help Detroit and the metro region.

Social Media Cancelled The Alex Jones Experience!

More chaos for far right profit rage agitator.

The empire of Alex Jones is collapsing. The far right kookspiracist has been blocked by YouTube.

Now the kook is calling for others to be banned.

Spotify, Facebook, Stitcher and Apple have also put the brakes on Jones.

Infowars is being blocked on most social media outlets.

So far, Jones has been hit with a lawsuit from the grieving families of the Newtown shooting. The family of Sandy Hook victims have been subjected to death threats inspired by Jones.

Jones complains that the Sandy Hook massacre was a staged hoax. He also believed that Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg is a "crisis actor." Each of these claims were recanted by Jones after the lawsuits were served.

He is being sued for defamation of character and promoting a campaign of hatred.

The bans have been swift and startling, coming after mounting public backlash against Infowars’ pernicious rhetoric, which is most notorious for helping popularize the false belief that the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting never happened. Jones is currently the defendant in a precedent-setting lawsuit brought against him by the parents of a Sandy Hook victim.

But the ongoing conversation around the real-life damage Jones and his network have inflicted has also been accompanied by weeks of hedging from major internet companies, including Facebook and Spotify, about how to deal with Jones on their platforms while still protecting free speech.

Initially, Facebook, YouTube, and Spotify all took selective action, banning some episodes of Jones’s podcasts and shows or removing selected social media posts they found to be in violation of various policies while allowing Infowars channels to remain active. Last Thursday, the popular audio streaming app Stitcher became the first platform to pull all of Jones’s content, without a lot of fuss.

But on Sunday night, Apple followed suit, summarily banning all of Jones’s content from iTunes — in the process sending a definitive message about what is and isn’t permissible free speech. Almost immediately, the dominoes began to fall: In the hours since Apple took action, multiple sites have started scrambling to reverse positions they were defending just a week ago.

The most notable of these is Facebook, which abruptly about-faced on its own free speech policy just hours after Apple did, essentially in the middle of the night. After that came YouTube, which appeared to ban Jones’s channel (which had more than 2.5 million subscribers as of Monday) from its platform late Monday morning.

It's part of a campaign to hold conservative agitators like Jones, Laura Ingraham, Sean "Softball" Hannity and Matt Drudge accountable for the years of promoting bullshit and divisiveness.

Dems Could Flip Republican Seat In Ohio!

Dems are hoping to flip another Trump district.
No matter the area, vote......

If you're tired of gun violence, the status quo, divisiveness in the country, and incompetent leadership, vote for candidates who could change the outcome.

Moms Demand Action, March For Our Lives, John Legend and LeBron James want to flip Ohio's 12th Congressional District. They formally endorsed the candidate who could shake up the midterms this year.

The district that was once held by former Republican lawmaker Pat Tiberi is now considered a toss up.

Republicans are scrambling to keep a seat that was once considered relatively safe in the Cook Political Report.

The contenders are Troy Balderson, a longtime Republican Ohio state senator and Danny O'Connor, a rising Democratic challenger.

Balderson is a married state senator. He is considered a typical Republican who supports most of our dear imbecile's agenda. He is hoping the last minute endorsements from Mike Pence, Sean "Softball" Hannity and Mark Levin could bring out Republicans.

O'Connor is a 31 year old from suburban Columbus who was at first trailing Balderson. He is the Franklin County Recorder who wants to capture voters fed up with the actions of a Republican controlled Congress.
Could Trump's last minute push help save a fairly strong Republican district?
Donald J. Trump and Balderson on their part has dubbed the candidate a clone of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA). They have stroked fear mongering about a Speaker Pelosi and how progressives are bad for the country,

O'Connor dismissed the allegations and stayed focused on issues like healthcare, unemployment in the district and how he is engaged to his girlfriend who is a Republican.

He like most Democrats are calling for new leadership.

Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) are lightening rods and lackluster on results within the party's base. While effective, the Democrats want more fight and they better results. O'Connor like Rep. Connor Lamb (D-PA) and New York Democratic congressional nominee Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez will not back another House Speaker who has been established.

Also the progressives are mounting a push to force Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) out of Congress. He too is under fire. The conservative lawmaker is under fire.

As then a former assistant wrestling coach for Ohio State University, Jordan ignored the concerns of men who were sexually abused by a former doctor.

The same shit that got head football coach Urban Meyer in the freezer.

Balderson won't acknowledge Jordan or his longshot bid to become Speaker of the House.

Today is the Special Election for the Ohio 12th Congressional District.

Like I've Said Before: Conservatives Don't Give A Sh*t About Chicago!

Progressives, when are you going to start boycotting The Drudge Report, Bill Cunningham and World Net Daily?

I've listened to Cincinnati right wing carnival barker Bill Cunningham on Sunday night ramble on about gun violence in the Black community. He and many like him are whistling to their white extremist base.

I know we are focused on Alex Jones, Breitbart, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck, Laura Ingraham, Sean "Softball" Hannity and that old fart Rush Limbaugh. But when are we going to start pulling out the rest of the weeds. Matt Drudge is the most dangerous right wing figure in the junk food media.

Gun violence is the biggest threat in this country.

The dog whistle is blowing everyday in Amerikkka. From our dear imbecile attacking a Black athlete and journalist to the right wing agitators showing "concern" for the gun violence in Black America.

Me and S. Baldwin have talked about concern trolls. These are the individuals who often appear on blogs like this one to drag up concern about issues that don't affect their lives. It's usually a white person (i.e. male or bot) who runs this bullshit about how we and many others failed "someone."
Nearly 80 people shot in Chicago. 12 people killed.
Enter the third largest city in the United States.

Chicago is once again in the tongues of the right wing. This weekend, the city saw 11 people killed by gun violence. Over 80 people were injured by firearms.

Now people are calling for major change in the city.

Rahm Emanuel, the embattled mayor of Chicago once again is facing calls to resign after Chicago city officials voice frustration with the way Chicago Police are handling affairs.

Many residents are scared of not only the gangs but the city's police force.

The city has unregistered firearms on the street and many of these victims are children.
Embattled mayor Rahm Emanuel might want to find a new line of work.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel said Monday morning he visited Stroger and Mt. Sinai hospitals to thank those that treated the victims of the violence.

"It may not have been in your neighborhood, it may not have been in your community, may not have been on your block. But that neighborhood, that community, that block is in the city of Chicago and it is part of our home," Emanuel said.

Johnson said while CPD can do better, the shooters need to be held accountable.

"I hear people holding us accountable all the time," Johnson said. "I never hear people saying these individuals out here in the streets need to stop pulling the trigger. I never hear that. I never hear that. They get a pass from everybody and they shouldn't."

The shooting has drawn reaction from around the country, including Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and current lawyer for President Donald Trump. Giuliani originally tweeted, "Policing genius Jerry McCarthy can do for Chicago what I did for NYC," in reference to former Chicago Police Superintendent and current mayoral candidate Garry McCarthy.

I can't say the names nor account the amount of people killed. I am guessing around 400 people were killed by gun violence in Chicagoland. Mind you that many of these people killed were victims of unfortunate circumstances.
When will progressives start targeting Matt Drudge for the years of promoting fake news and bullshit?
Gang violence has been around since the 19th Century. It's been around in the 20th Century. It continues in the 21st Century. But since our former president Barack Obama came from Chicago, many on the right have often fingered him for the violence in the community.

Obama's name is always brought up in conversation whenever the junk food media reports on mass shootings.

This past Saturday, there was a march on the NRA. Calls to ban the AR-15, repeal Stand Your Ground and passing stronger background checks.

Chicago priest Michael Pfleger protested on the Dan Ryan Freeway only a month ago. The busy freeway carries Interstate 90 and 94. It caused a 120 minute wait on freeway travel. Conservatives bemoaned that police resources were wasted protecting protesters.

Many entertainers like Common, John Legend, Rhymefest and Spike Lee came to the city to urge city leaders change the direction of leadership.

Rev. Jesse Jackson, Rev. Al Sharpton, Rep. Bobby Rush (D-IL), Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), Sen. Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), Michelle Obama and Black Lives Matter are involved.

Barack Obama has been talking about it before and after his presidency.

Yet these right wing agitators keep saying no black leaders talk about it.
Cincinnati carnival barker Bill Cunningham does the Sunday night version of The Drudge Report.
The only one who isn't talking about is the NRA's propaganda machine and Donald J. Trump. If they spoke on it, they would use it as a recruiting tool for  white extremists.

No one is pointing the finger at Republican governor Bruce Rauner. He is a supporter of lax gun laws. He signed off a bill that makes it illegal for people living Illinois purchasing bulk weapons from lax states like Indiana, Missouri, Wisconsin and Kentucky.

I see that conservatives are going all out to divide this country. They don't give a flying fuck about Chicago or anyone killed by gun violence.

They complain about gun control advocates like David Hogg having armed security guards. After months of vilification, Hogg has gotten death threats.

Hogg has been swatted by 8chan trolls.

The NRA continues to troll with their exposes on gun control and activists targeting their promoters.

Trump is the person capable of solving this crisis. If he thinks his "law and order" is solution to stopping gun violence, he is totally wrong.

I'm Trying To Eat My Lunch! Why You Call The Law On Me?

Can't enjoy eating at a college dining hall without the police called. Oumou Kanoute was stopped by the cops after she took a break in a dining hall at Smith College.

A woman is enjoying a lunch at Smith College in Massachusetts. A person calls the law on her.

I tell you what. Aren't you getting tired of white people calling the law on people of color?

Well this happens quite frequently and this is an example of Donald J. Trump's Amerikkka.

Oumou Kanoute is enjoying her lunch in a dining hall when a cop came into the facility. The cop asked her what she was doing inside the facility. An employee claimed that a suspicious Black male was in the facility and the cops were notified.

Kanoute was doing summer class and internship and recorded this encounter.

CBS News reports that the employee who called police on a black Smith College student who was eating lunch in a common room on the western Massachusetts campus Tuesday has been placed on leave, school officials say. In a transcript of the call released by school officials Friday, the unidentified employee tells campus police dispatchers that the student seemed "out of place."

In a statement Friday, the college announced they have retained an outside law firm to "conduct a thorough, external investigation." The employee, who hasn't been identified, has been placed on leave pending the result, the school said.

The student, rising sophomore Oumou Kanoute, told CBS Boston she works at a summer program teaching chemistry to high school students for Smith's STEM program and was reading in the dining hall of the Tyler House dorm Tuesday.

"Next thing you know, I see the cop walk in with a Smith employee whom I've never seen before and the man said, 'We were wondering why you're here?"' Kanoute said.

Kanoute tells the officer she works on campus and was eating lunch and relaxing.

"Oh you're just taking a break? You're with one of the summer programs?" the officer responds.

Campus police found "nothing suspicious" about Kanoute's presence, Amy Hunter, the school's interim director of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity, said in a statement. A police report wasn't filed because the officer determined the report to be unfounded, according to the school.

In the transcript of the police call, the employee who made the report tells a dispatcher, "I was just walking through here in the front foyer of [redacted] and we have a person sitting there laying down in the living room area over here. I didn't approach her or anything but he seems to be out of place … umm … I don't see anybody in the building at this point and I don't know what he's doing in there, just laying on the couch."

The dispatcher asks for the caller's last name and says they will send someone to check it out.

"Alright. I'll wait over here," the caller says.

According to the transcript, the responding officer calls back dispatch to report "all clear."

"That was a student relaxing in the living room," the officer tells the dispatcher. "They had lunch here. I guess and they decided to stay for a while."

"No student of color should have to explain why they belong at prestigious white institutions," she wrote. "I worked my hardest to get into Smith, and I deserve to feel safe on my campus."

Kanoute said in the post that she was reading, not making noise or bothering anyone, and added: "All I did was be black."

While she spoke calmly to the officer in the video, she said in the post she had a "complete meltdown" after the incident.

"It just still upsets me to just talk about it because I don't even feel safe on my own campus and I'm away from home," Kanoute told CBS Boston through tears. "I'm the first in my family to go to college. I'm doing this not only for me but for my family, for my ancestors."

In a statement posted online, Hunter said the university "does not tolerate race- or gender-based discrimination" and that such behavior "can contribute to a climate of fear, hostility and exclusion that has no place in our community."

Smith president Kathleen McCartney issued a public apology to Kanoute and assured her "she belongs in all Smith spaces."

"This painful incident reminds us of the ongoing legacy of racism and bias in which people of color are targeted while simply going about the business of their daily lives," McCartney's statement read. "Building an inclusive, diverse and sustainable community is urgent and ongoing work."

McCartney said Smith staff members will be required to participate in mandatory anti-bias training beginning in the fall and the school would host a series of workshops for faculty and staff focused on "topics of identity, inclusion, bias-response and bias-prevention." She said the school's Office of Inclusion, Diversity and Equity would work with campus police to strengthen protocols by which they assess and respond for calls for assistance. Campus police are already trained on issues surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion and implicit bias, the school has said.

Kanoute told CBS Boston she appreciates the president's apology, but wants the identity of the caller released. "I want a public apology from that caller and I want them fired from the school," Kanoute said.

The school says they aren't releasing the employee's name because college policy requires records released to have references to involved parties removed. They say they won't release outcomes of the external investigation related to personnel matters, but will publicize and recommendations on "policies, procedures, or further community training that result."
