Actress Loretta Swit passed away from natural causes.
Actress Loretta Swit has passed away at the age of 87.
If you’re a child of the 1970s, you may have grown up watching the CBS comedy-drama M*A*S*H. The show lasted from 1972 until 1983.
Swit, who won two Emmy Awards playing Maj. Margaret Houlihan, the demanding head nurse of a behind-the-lines surgical unit during the Korean War on the pioneering hit TV series “M*A*S*H.,” has died. She was 87.
Publicist Harlan Boll says Swit died Friday at her home in New York City, likely from natural causes.
Swit and Alan Alda were the longest-serving cast members on “M*A*S*H.,” which was based on Robert Altman’s 1970 film, which was itself based on a novel by Richard Hooker, the pseudonym of H. Richard Hornberger.
The CBS show aired for 11 years from 1972 to 1983, revolving around life at the 4077th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, which gave the show its name. The two-and-a-half-hour finale on Feb. 28, 1983, lured over 100 million viewers, the most-watched episode of any scripted series ever.
Loretta I was living in Los Angeles when the final episode aired. I also worked a bit at San Pietro’s Restaurant where you used to frequent , you were always so nice to the staff . What a cast , what a TV show and it is forever a major part of Television history. Thank you for…
Rolling Stone magazine put “M*A*S*H.” at No. 25 of the best TV shows of all time, while Time Out put it at No. 34. It won the Impact Award at the 2009 TV Land annual awards. It won a Peabody Award in 1975 “for the depth of its humor and the manner in which comedy is used to lift the spirit and, as well, to offer a profound statement on the nature of war.”
Swit transforms the character of Houlihan
In Altman’s 1970 film, Houlihan was a one-dimensional character — a prickly, rules-bound head nurse who was regularly tormented by male colleagues, who gave her the nickname “Hot Lips.” Her intimate moments were broadcast to the entire camp after somebody planted a microphone under her bed.
Sally Kellerman played Houlihan in the movie version and Swit took it over for TV, eventually deepening and creating her into a much fuller character. Her sexuality was played down and she wasn’t even called “Hot Lips” in the later years.
The growing awareness of feminism in the ’70s spurred Houlihan’s transformation from caricature to real person, but a lot of the change was due to Swit’s influence on the scriptwriters.
“Around the second or third year I decided to try to play her as a real person, in an intelligent fashion, even if it meant hurting the jokes,” Swit told Suzy Kalter, author of “The Complete Book of ‘M*A*S*H.’”
“To oversimplify it, I took each traumatic change that happened in her life and kept it. I didn’t go into the next episode as if it were a different character in a different play. She was a character in constant flux; she never stopped developing.”
Alda praised Swit as a “supremely talented actor” in a post on X. “She worked hard In showing the writing staff how they could turn the character from a one joke sexist stereotype into a real person — with real feelings and ambitions. We celebrated the day the script came out listing her character not as Hot Lips, but as Margaret. Loretta made the most of her time here.”
“M*A*S*H.” wasn’t an instant hit. It finished its first season in 46th place, out of 75 network TV series, but it nabbed nine Emmy nominations. It was rewarded with a better time slot for its sophomore season, paired on Saturday nights with “All in the Family,” then TV’s highest-rated show. At the 1974 Emmys, it was crowned best comedy, with Alda winning as best comedy actor.
The series also survived despite cast churn. In addition to Swit and Alda, the first season featured Wayne Rogers, McLean Stevenson, Larry Linville and Gary Burghoff. Harry Morgan, Mike Farrell and David Ogden Stiers would later be added, while Jamie Farr and William Christopher had expanded roles.
“Loretta Swit’s portrayal of Margaret ‘Hot Lips’ Houlihan was groundbreaking — bringing heart, humor, and strength to one of television comedy’s most enduring roles. Her talent extended well beyond that iconic character, with acclaimed work on both stage and screen that showcased her intelligence, versatility, and passion,” National Comedy Center Executive Director Journey Gunderson said in a statement.
‘More of a real person’
Swit appeared in all but 11 episodes of the series, nearly four times longer than the Korean War itself, exploring issues like PTSD, sexism and racism. Swit pushed for a better representation for women.
“One of the things I liked, with Loretta’s prodding, was every time I had a chance to write for her character, we’d get away from the Hot Lips angle and find out more about who Margaret was. She became more of a real person,” Alda told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018.
The series ended on a happy note for Houlihan, who spends much of the finale debating whether she wants to head to Tokyo or Belgium for her next overseas post. Ultimately she opts to return to America and work at a hospital, citing her father — a career Army man.
Swit didn’t personally agree that was the correct decision for a military-minded official: “I didn’t think that was correct for my Margaret,” she told Yahoo Entertainment in 2023. “I think her next move was Vietnam. So I didn’t agree with that, but that’s what they wanted her to do.”
But the actor did get to write the speech that Houlihan delivers to her fellow nurses on their final night together, in which she says: “It’s been an honor and privilege to have worked with you. And I’m very, very proud to have known you.”
“I was consumed with writing that. And I still get letters from women all over the world who became nurses because of Margaret Houlihan. To have contributed to someone’s life like that is remarkable,” she told Yahoo Entertainment.
M*A*S*H was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1970s.
During her run, Houlihan had an affair with Hawkeye’s foil, the bumbling Frank Burns, played by Linville in the TV version, and in Season 5, Houlihan returns from a stay in Tokyo engaged to a handsome lieutenant colonel, a storyline that Swit says she advocated for with the writers.
“I told them: ‘Can you imagine what fun you’re going to have with Larry when I come back to town and I tell him I’m engaged? He’ll rip the doors off of the mess tent!’ And that’s exactly what they had him do. So we were all of the same mind.”
Toward the end, Swit was tempted to leave the show. She played the role of Chris Cagney in a 1981 television movie, “Cagney & Lacey,” and was offered the part when it was picked up as a midseason series for the spring of 1982. But producers insisted she stay with “M*A*S*H” for its last two seasons.
Swit told The Florida Times-Union in 2010 she might have stayed with “M*A*S*H.” anyway. “You can’t help but get better as an actor working with scripts like that,” she said. “If you’re in something that literate, well, we got spoiled.”
In 2022, James Poniewozik, The New York Times’s chief television critic, looked back on the show and said it held up well: “Its blend of madcap comedy and pitch-dark drama — the laughs amplifying the serious stakes, and vice versa — is recognizable in today’s dramedies, from ‘Better Things’ to ‘Barry,’ that work in the DMZ between laughter and sadness.”
After the TV series, Swit became a vocal animal welfare activist, selling SwitHeart perfume and her memoir through her official website, with proceeds benefiting various animal-related nonprofit groups.
In 1983, she married actor Dennis Holahan, whom she’d met when he was a guest star on “M*A*S*H.” They divorced in 1995.
Swit was born in New Jersey
Born in Passaic, New Jersey, the daughter of Polish immigrants, Swit enrolled in the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, then paid her dues for years in touring productions.
In 1969, she arrived in Hollywood and was soon seen in series such as “Gunsmoke,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Mission Impossible” and “Bonanza.” Then in 1972, she got her big break when she was asked to audition for the role of “Hot Lips.”
She would regularly return to theater, starring on Broadway in 1975 in “Same Time, Next Year” and “The Mystery of Edwin Drood” in 1986. She was in “Amorous Crossing,” a romantic comedy, at Alhambra Theatre & Dining in 2010 and in North Carolina Theatre’s production of “Mame” in 2003.

The New York Times revealed that Elon Musk was allegedly using drugs and was confronting White House staffers with phyiscal assualt.
Musk’s departure from the Department of Government Efficiency was considered a blessing to many White House staffers.
President Donald J. Trump gifting him a golden key.
Musk was spotted with a shiner.
The New York Times is propaganda for the apartheid ethnostate of Israel. I wouldn't be surprised that Israel had information on him. He was palling around with Marco Rubio, Jonathan Greenblatt, Ashley St. Clair, Michael Waltz, Elise Stefanik, John Fetterman, Sean "Softball" Hannity, Mark Levin, Stephen Miller, Scott Bessent, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ben Shapiro.
Some of these individuals have drug and mental health issues too. Just saying.
Musk told people he was using ketamine so often that it was impacting his bladder, along with utilizing psychedelic mushrooms and taking ecstasy, the Times reported.
Trump gives Musk a key to his heart.
The tech executive, who was advising the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) panel on federal government cost-cutting measures, would travel every day with a box containing 20 pills, the Times said, citing individuals who have seen the box and the photo of it. Some of the pills were marked as Adderall.
Musk has said previously that he has a prescription for ketamine.
The billionaire, who heads six companies, spent well north of $250 million to help Trump get elected in November last year. One of those companies is SpaceX, an aerospace firm, that is a significant contractor with the federal government. Because of that government relationship, SpaceX has to maintain a drug-free workplace. The paper reported Musk has gotten advanced warnings of SpaceX drug tests, citing individuals close to the process.
The Times reporting included interviews with dozens of individuals Musk worked with or knew, along with obtaining private messages. Musk and his attorney did not respond to requests for comment sent by the outlet.
When asked on Friday if he was concerned about Musk’s alleged drug use, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller told reporters that “the drugs that we’re concerned about are the drugs running across the southern border.”
Musk announced Wednesday that he would be departing the White House as his 130-day period as a special government employee expires.
The world’s richest person criticized the House GOP budget bill, which contains Trump’s legislative agenda, saying the legislation undercuts the work DOGE has done in the past four months.
“I was, like, disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit … and it undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk said in an interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.”
A memorable four months.
Trump, who earlier this week shrugged off Musk’s criticism of the bill, said Thursday night that he will hold a press event Friday with Musk at 1:30 p.m. EDT.
“This will be his last day, but not really, because he will, always, be with us, helping all the way. Elon is terrific! See you tomorrow at the White House,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
According to the Times, some of Musk’s friends have severed ties with the tech billionaire over his public behavior.
“Elon has pushed the boundaries of his bad behavior more and more,” Philip Low, a neuroscientist, told The Times.
The Wall Street Journal reported in January 2024 that Musk has used cocaine, LSD, psychedelic mushrooms and ecstasy at private parties, prompting concerns from board members and executives at SpaceX and Tesla.
The Zionists labeled entertainer Ms. Rachel an anti-semitie for telling the world to have empathy for the children of Gaza.
Free Palestine π΅πΈ
Israel once again targets their critics.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that he will personally revoke student visas to those who are antisemitic. He will deny entry to the United States if anyone criticizes Israel, probably including Americans. Free speech is only good for Zionists, President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Israel, Elon Musk, as well as Jewish and Christian extremists.
I am reminded that Trump said that we will spread democracy through the barrel of a gun. It is almost similar to the rhetoric of Israeli leaders saying that Gazans are animals.
This apartheid ethnostate is notorious for hasbara and blackmail campaigns to silence critics. If they are a threat to Israel, they would use deadly attacks like the Sept. 2024 electronic devices blowing up in Beruit, Lebanon.
So this group once again called StopAntisemitism has labeled a list of entertainers, media personalities and several controversial far right on this list of "anti-semities of the week."
Social media influencer Liora Rez founded StopAntisemitism as StopAntisemitism.org in October 2018 to monitor and expose online antisemitism. Rez was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, then in the Soviet Union, where her family experienced antisemitism.
Kehlani is targeted by the Israeli regime.
She started her social media career in 2013, under the name "Jewish Chick".
So some embarrassing things happened this Friday.
Glenn Greenwald, a controversial American journalist who lives in Brazil was notable for spreading the Tara Reade and Joe Biden situation. He is also known for his attacks on former vice president Kamala Harris during the 2024 U.S. presidential campaign.
Greenwald who has appeared on numerous television and podcasts is a staunch critic of President Donald J. Trump, the apartheid ethnostate of Israel and its prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
The criticisms at Israel comes from an openly gay Jewish media personality.
Videos surface of Greenwald in lingerie kissing the feet of a man. Then he pays the man in Brazilian currencies thanking him for allowing the services.
Greenwald is a libertarian.
What two consenting adults do in their privacy is no one's business. But I believe that Israel has the capability of sexually exploiting critics. They do this on social media and in the operatives they send to the United States.
Now Israel has launched a campaign against numerous influncers in attempt to delegitmize and humiliate them from speaking out against the genocide.
Ms. Rachel, a popular YouTube influencer, singer, media personality and social worker is labeled an anti-semitic for showing support for wounded Palestinian children.
A toddler named Rahaf became an overnight celebrity. The toddler lost both of her legs to the Israeli airstrikes and it was so heartbreaking to see that little child suffer. Ms. Rachel (Rachel Griffin Accoso) embraced the child and hugged her.
The social media influncer Guy Christensen has riled up Israel.
Guy Christensen, a TikTok influncer who amassed over 3.4 millions followers on the platform is also one of the Israeli regime's targets.
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL) reacted to videos made by Christensen. Torres had actually used the U.S. Capitol Police to investigate the 19 year old. They accused Christensen of endorsing the killing of Israelis.
The two Israeli operatives were killed by a man who chanted "Free Palestine" while being detained. Many believe the incident was random but others want to place the blame on one man's actions on everyone in the world who opposes Israel.
Some believes it was an op.
Even the victim used rhetoric that had endorsement of killing Palestinians.
What gets me is the fact they are triggered by opinion. These asshole lawmakers could care less about their own constituents being killed by gun violence.
Torres was also responsible for rapper/singer Kehlani being dropped from the New York Pride concert.
Tucker Carlson, Briahna Joy Gray, Candace Owens, Kehlani, Kyle Kuliniski, Katie Halper, Cornell West, Krystal Ball-Kuliniski, Ryan Grim, Nina Turner and others were insufferable in the past. Maybe they were right on former president Joe Biden.
Not because of Tara Reade.
It was because of fucking Israel.
Israel has become one of the biggest road blocks in the Democratic Party. Also the age issue is haunting the party. Many of the leaders are old, tired and stuck on the 20th Century's leading the party.
Israel and its allies overplayed the use of antisemitism. From now on, as long as there is no violence towards anyone practicing Judaism or Islam, I will not hold my tongue when criticizing Israel, Jews, President Donald J. Trump, Vice President JD Vance, former president Joe Biden, former vice president Kamala Harris, most members of Congress, Benjamin Netanyahu, the Anti-Defamation League, Jonathan Greenblatt, the Canary Mission, Zionism, colonialism, imperialism, slavery, racism, Christian nationalism and white supremacy.
They are the cause of global instability in the world.
Again, as long as there is no violence towards anyone practicing religious beliefs, there is no antisemitism when criticizing the Jews.
To clear up the YNet's account of Oct. 7, the Israelis used the Hannibal Directive to massacre the settlers to prevent Hamas from taking IDF soliders. The IDF has used the weapons to kill settlers at a festival.
Hamas has been very clear on who they targeted. They targeted the IDF and the walls. They do not target civilians. Israel has exaggerated the way this went down.
They have used American weapons to kill children, women, men, their own settlers, journalists, doctors, humanitarian aid workers, UN peacekeepers and their own IDF soliders. Israel has killed Americans, British, German, Australian, Canadians and French citizens.
No investigations were carried out to why Israel targeted them.
Israel refuses to allow independent monitors into Gaza, Lebanon and Syria.
IDF soliders who refuse to carry out orders are often taken out by snipers.
The "hostages" were IDF soliders.
Israel has violated the ceasefire. They are planning on invading Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and Syria. They have stopped humanitarian aid and attacked any attempts by volunteers or independent surveyors.
Glenn Greenwald reacts to a sex tape being released by Israel. He allegedly paid a male prostitute while in lingerie.
Israel wants the U.S. to start a war with Iran.
The supporters of former president Joe Biden and former vice president Kamala Harris are playing on this "We tried to warn you" nonsense. How can you morally stand on principles of being a progressive and back Israel?
First and foremost, Americans have a right to vote for whomever they chose.
Second, Harris failed to win over voters. She stuck with former president Joe Biden on the economy, Israel, Ukraine, immigration and inflation. The former president failed to listen to voters and his base.
The former president gave unilateral support and cover. We knew Trump would be worse. We demanded that Biden and Harris put pressure on Benjamin Netanyahu and Israel to stop killing. We urged them to stop invading other countries. Biden ignored the concerns. The Democrats paid the price.
This shows a lot of "tone deafness" within the Democratic Party.
It is not Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) or the former supporters' fault for Biden and Harris' missteps. She warned them that Arab Americans did not like being ignored.
Those fucking hypocrites sat in silence as Israel is killing men, women and children.
They can fuck themselves.
Israel has killed Americans. No one was held accountable.
The killing of Rachel Corrie did not move George W. Bush to cut Israel loose.
The deaths of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, Tawfiq Abdel Jabbar, Mohammad Khdour, Omar Assad, Shireen Abu Akleh, Jacob Flickinger and Kamel Ahmad Jawad were never investigated by the U.S. Justice Department.
Mask off.
Resistance is not terrorism.
Occupation of oppressed people is not peace.
A two state solution is "separate but equal" and a de facto apartheid.
Telling other countries to take Palestinians is ethnic cleansing.
A sovereignty seizing land in a violent conflict is a war crime.
A violent attack on children throwing rocks at tanks is justified in the minds of those who support Israel.
Spitting and shoving Christians, Satanists, non Zionist Jews, Muslims and Hindus is considered a custom in Israel. How is this disgusting act justified?
The double standard in media coverage is the Israelis are hostages and the Palestinians are prisoners. Some of the Palestinians held in Israeli custody are children under the age of 14.
When Russia seized Ukrainian land and Crimea, the U.S. pushed for sanctions.
When Israel seized Lebanese and Syrian land, the U.S. recognized it as Israeli sovereignty. They have actively rejected sanctions imposed on Israel.
When the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Russian president Vladimir Putin, the United States praised the decision. When it came to Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the United States rushed to sanctions and threaten imprisonment for the workers at the ICC.
Zionist Karens: Liora Rez and Megyn Kelly.
Iran supports the resistance. The U.S. and Israel labels it as an enabler of terrorism and war. Yet, Israel has created the conflicts by forcing regime change, killing their civilians, their scientists, their military generals and their diplomats. No one seems to call this terrorism. In fact, some U.S. lawmakers see it as justifiable offense.
Hamas stated the reasons for the attack on occupation forces. It has nothing to do with the Jewish religion, a concert or Iran.
The IDF has the weapons to destroy everything. All on the American taxpayer, Israel has killed civilians, their own citizens and the status quo.
Holding these lawmakers accountable is not just a pledge, but a promise. You need to learn who represents your community. Your local community member, your school board member, your mayor, your state representative, your state senator, your governor, your U.S. Representative, your U.S. Senator and the president need to be held accountable for their actions.
Israel must be held accountable for war crimes and the U.S. must end its aid. Our taxpayer money should not help Israel any further.
Israel is the red line. If any lawmaker, entertainer, athlete or social media influncer backs the apartheid ethnostate, they will face a boycott.
Regardless of political affiliation, if you are supporting Israel, you are not getting donations or a vote from me.
I will hold President Donald J. Trump and Vice President JD Vance accountable.

Let them know that "thoughts and prayers," "hearts going to", blaming "illegal immigrants" and "good guys with guns" are no longer acceptable and you want legislation to focus on ending gun violence, lowering costs, improving healthcare and building relationships with other nations. Let them know that we are tired of police officers using immunity when committing death of suspects in custody. Let them know that you are tired of private equity firms getting away with destroying small businesses and long established companies. Let them know that you are tired of your taxpayer money going to foreign nations like Israel. You are tir9ed of hearing about "Israel having a right to..." and the bogus claims of being anti-Semitic or in support of terrorism.
We have bigger issues at home and our tax dollars should solve the housing crisis, lowering food prices, fixing roads, bridges, helping reinvest in struggling urban and rural communities. We don't want any more wars on behalf of Israel. We have hospitals closing, big box retailers leaving communities and television programs dying. There are bigger issues in the country than Israel. You want an immediate ceasefire and accountability for war crimes done by Israel. You want no more foreign influence in American elections. You also want to make sure future presidents and legislators avoid influence from lobbyists.
The controversial former NYPD detective and later commissioner who President Donald J. Trump who pardoned after years of corruption has passed away.
He was 69.
The New York Police Department confirmed his death Thursday on social media.
FBI Director Kash Patel said his death came “after a private battle with illness.”
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani reflected on his long history with his former police commissioner on his show Thursday.
“We’ve been together since the beginning. He’s like my brother,” Giuliani said through tears. “I was a better man for having known Bernie. I certainly was a braver and stronger man.”
Kerik, an Army veteran rose through the ranks of the NYPD to the top position of commissioner before falling from grace when he pleaded guilty to federal tax fraud and false statement charges in 2010.
The charges stemmed partially from over $250,000 in apartment renovations he received from a construction firm that authorities say counted on Kerik to convince New York officials it had no organized crime links.
During Kerik’s sentencing, the judge noted that he committed some of the crimes while serving as “the chief law enforcement officer for the biggest and grandest city this nation has.”
He served three years in prison before his release in 2013.
Trump pardoned Kerik during a 2020 clemency blitz. Kerik was among the guests feting Trump after his first appearance in federal court in Florida in a case related to his handling of classified documents, attending the former president’s remarks at his Bedminster, New Jersey, club.
Trump and company offer condolences.
Kerik was appointed by Giuliani to serve as police commissioner in 2000 and was in the position during the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks.
In Kerik’s 2015 book, “From Jailer to Jailed,” he described becoming “America’s Top Cop” after the attacks.
“But I’d give anything for that day not to have happened. I wish it hadn’t. But it did,” he wrote. “And I happened to be there at the time. I was there, and I did the best I could do under the circumstances. It’s all any of us did.”
He was tapped by President George W. Bush to help organize Iraq’s police force in 2003, then nominated to head the U.S. Department of Homeland Security the following year.
But Kerik caught the administration off guard when he abruptly withdrew his nomination, saying he had uncovered information that led him to question the immigration status of a person he employed as a housekeeper and nanny.
In 2005, Kerik founded the Kerik Group, a crisis and risk management consulting firm.
He later worked for the former mayor of New York City surrounding the efforts to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss.
Patel described Kerik in a post on social media as “a warrior, a patriot, and one of the most courageous public servants this country has ever known.”
“He was decorated more than 100 times for bravery, valor, and service, having rescued victims from burning buildings, survived assassination attempts, and brought some of the world’s most dangerous criminals to justice,” he said. “His legacy is not just in the medals or the titles, but in the lives he saved, the city he helped rebuild, and the country he served with honor.”
Kerik grew up in Paterson, New Jersey, where he dropped out of the the trouble-filled Eastside High School later depicted in the 1989 film “Lean on Me.”
He joined the Army, where he became a military policeman stationed in South Korea. He went on to work private security in Saudi Arabia before returning stateside to supervise a jail in New Jersey.
He joined the NYPD in the late 1980s. He was tapped in the 1990s to run New York’s long-troubled jail system, including the city’s notorious Riker’s Island complex.
The most controversial ally in the Trump administration is heading for the door.
Once he leaves, he will still be regarded as a negative figure in American politics.
The lawsuits are going to start racking up once women come out and sue his ass for sexual abuse.
Elon Musk is leaving his government role as a top adviser to President Donald Trump after spearheading efforts to reduce and overhaul the federal bureaucracy.
The billionaire entrepreneur posted Wednesday about his decision on X, his social media website.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” he wrote. “The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”
A White House official, who requested anonymity to talk about the change, confirmed that Musk was leaving.
Musk’s departure comes one day after he criticized the centerpiece of Trump’s legislative agenda, saying he was “disappointed” by what the president calls his “big beautiful bill.”
The legislation includes a mix of tax cuts and enhanced immigration enforcement. While speaking to CBS, Musk described it as a “massive spending bill” that increases the federal deficit and “undermines the work” of his Department of Government Efficiency, known as DOGE.
“I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful,” Musk said. “But I don’t know if it could be both.”
His CBS interview came out Tuesday night. Trump, speaking in the Oval Office on Wednesday, defended his agenda by talking about the delicate politics involved with negotiating the legislation.
“I’m not happy about certain aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by other aspects of it,” he said.
Trump also suggested that more changes could be made.
“We’re going to see what happens,” he said. “It’s got a way to go.”
Republicans recently pushed the measure through the House and are debating it in the Senate.
Musk’s concerns are shared by some Republican lawmakers. “I sympathize with Elon being discouraged,” said Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson.
Speaking at a Milwaukee Press Club event on Wednesday, Johnson added that he was “pretty confident” there was enough opposition “to slow this process down until the president, our leadership, gets serious” about reducing spending. He said there was no amount of pressure Trump could put on him to change his position.
Speaker Mike Johnson has asked senators to make as few changes to the legislation as possible, saying that House Republicans reached a “very delicate balance” that could be upended with major changes. The narrowly divided House will have to vote again on final passage once the Senate alters the bill.
On Wednesday, Johnson thanked Musk for his work and promised to pursue more spending cuts in the future, saying “the House is eager and ready to act on DOGE’s findings.”
The White House is sending some proposed rescissions, a mechanism used to cancel previously authorized spending, to Capitol Hill to solidify some of DOGE’s cuts. A spokesperson for the Office of Management and Budget said the package will include $1.1 billion from the Corporation of Public Broadcasting, which funds NPR and PBS, and $8.3 billion in foreign assistance.
Musk’s criticism come as he steps back from his government work, rededicating himself to companies like the electric automaker Tesla and rocket manufacturer SpaceX. He’s also said he’ll reduce his political spending, because “I think I’ve done enough.”
At times, he’s seemed chastened by his experience working in government. Although he hoped that DOGE would generate $1 trillion in spending cuts, he’s fallen far short of that target.
“The federal bureaucracy situation is much worse than I realized,” he told The Washington Post. “I thought there were problems, but it sure is an uphill battle trying to improve things in D.C., to say the least.”
Musk had previously been energized by the opportunity to reshape Washington. He wore campaign hats in the White House, held his own campaign rallies, and talked about excessive spending as an existential crisis. He often tended to be effusive in his praise of Trump.
“The more I’ve gotten to know President Trump, the more I like the guy,” Musk said in February. “Frankly, I love him.”
Trump repaid the favor, describing Musk as “a truly great American.” When Tesla faced declining sales, he turned the White House driveway into a makeshift showroom to illustrate his support.
It’s unclear what, if any, impact that Musk’s comments about the bill would have on the legislative debate. During the transition period, he helped whip up opposition to a spending measure as the country stood on the brink of a federal government shutdown.
His latest criticism could embolden Republicans who want bigger spending cuts. Republican Utah Sen. Mike Lee reposted a Fox News story about Musk’s interview while also adding his own take on the measure, saying there was “still time to fix it.”
“The Senate version will be more aggressive,” Lee said. “It can, it must, and it will be. Or it won’t pass.”
Only two Republicans — Reps. Warren Davidson of Ohio and Thomas Massie of Kentucky — voted against the bill when the House took up the measure last week.
Davidson took note of Musk’s comments on social media.
“Hopefully, the Senate will succeed with the Big Beautiful Bill where the House missed the moment,” he wrote. “Don’t hope someone else will cut deficits someday, know it has been done this Congress.”
The Congressional Budget Office, in a preliminary estimate, said the tax provisions would increase federal deficits by $3.8 trillion over the decade, while the changes to Medicaid, food stamps and other services would reduce spending by slightly more than $1 trillion over the same period.
House Republican leaders say increased economic growth would allow the bill to be deficit-neutral or deficit-reducing, but outside watchdogs are skeptical. The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget estimates the bill would add $3 trillion to the debt, including interest, over the next decade.
Katie Miller is also leaving the White House too. Stephen Miller's wife is working with Musk.
I have a feeling that she will be his 16th baby mama.
Trump pardons Larry Hoover. He now heads to state to finish his term.
Buying influence to get pardons.
It's so like our president.
Y'all voted for this.
President Donald J. Trump pardons the controversial former leader of the Gangster Disciples.
He also pardons the most trashiest controversial rapper.
So are these sentences for serving commuted or withstanded?
The state of Illinois still has Larry Hoover on a 200 year bid.
Hoover, 74, the founder of the Gangster Disciples, has spent nearly three decades in solitary confinement at ADX Florence in Colorado, widely considered one of the most secure prisons in the world.
"Larry Hoover's federal life sentences have been commuted by President Donald Trump," Bonjean Law Group said in a statement to ABC News. "Mr. Hoover, who is now 75 years old, spent nearly 30 years in solitary confinement at ADX Florence -- the most restrictive, draconian supermax prison in the United States."
Despite the commutation of his federal sentence, Hoover still faces a 200-year state sentence for the 1973 murder of William "Pooky" Young, a 19-year-old neighborhood drug dealer in Chicago. The federal charges, which resulted in six life terms in 1997, came decades after his state conviction.
"The courts have demonstrated a complete unwillingness to consider Mr. Hoover's considerable growth and complete rehabilitation," Bonjean Law Group stated. "Despite the court's unwillingness to do the right thing, Mr. Hoover has been able to keep his voice alive through the incredible work of many advocates and supporters."
Hoover's case has drawn significant attention from high-profile figures in the entertainment industry. In 2021, rappers Kanye West and Drake set aside their differences to perform at an Amazon-sponsored concert advocating for Hoover's release. The event, organized by J. Prince, took place at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.
The case has remained controversial, as some claim he continues to control the gang from prison through intermediaries, while others argue he is unfairly targeted by law enforcement and that his rights are violated. In the community, some view him as a Robin Hood figure who helped his neighborhood.
His influence extends into pop culture, with references in popular music, including rapper Rick Ross' hit song "B.M.F.," where he draws parallels between himself and Hoover.
Hoover is expected to be transferred from the notorious supermax prison in Colorado to a prison in Illinois at some point.
"Thankfully, Mr. Hoover's pleas were heard by President Trump, who took action to deliver justice for Mr. Hoover," Bonjean Law Group concluded. "We are thrilled to see that Mr. Hoover will be released from federal custody."
Gaulden has sold over 85 million digital copies in the United States, ranking him among the highest certified artists in the United States. He has garnered 15 billion views on his YouTube channel, also ranking him among the highest-viewed rappers on the site. Gaulden is also the youngest artist in Billboard history to chart 100 singles on the Billboard Hot 100, while also being the rapper with the most RIAA platinum certified albums from 2015 to 2025.
Gaulden has also been nominated for three BET Hip Hop Awards and a Grammy Award while being the recipient of one ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Award and one BMI R&B/Hip-Hop Award. Gaulden founded the record label Never Broke Again in 2015, which has signed artists including NoCap and Quando Rondo.
Despite his success, Gaulden's career has been marked by a long history of legal issues that began in 2016. He has maintained a largely prolific output notwithstanding his incarcerations.
Gaulden has infamously spent several years on house arrest from 2021 to 2024. He was arrested in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, in 2020 alongside sixteen others on various federal charges, including distribution and manufacturing of drugs and possession of stolen firearms.
The following year, he was arrested in Los Angeles, California, by federal agents stemming from his 2020 arrest, resulting in an additional federal firearm charge. From March to October 2021, Gaulden was in jail before being released on bond and placed on house arrest awaiting trial from October 2021 to March 2024.
Despite being found not guilty in the case in Los Angeles, Gaulden was found guilty in Baton Rouge and sentenced to 23 months in prison followed by 60 months of probation following his release. After over three years in federal custody, including house arrest, Gaulden was officially released on probation in April 2025.
Trump issued a series of pardons on Wednesday, awarding them to a former New York congressman, a Connecticut governor, a rapper known as “NBA YoungBoy,” a labor union leader and a onetime Army officer who flaunted safety measures during the Coronavirus pandemic.
His actions mixed Trump’s willingness to pardon high-profile Republicans and other supporters, donors and friends with the influence of Alice Marie Johnson, whom Trump recently named his pardon czar after he offered a pardon to her in 2020.
Johnson was convicted in 1996 on eight criminal counts related to a Memphis-based cocaine trafficking operation. Trump commuted her life sentence in 2018 at the urging of celebrity Kim Kardashian West, allowing for Johnson’s early release.
Johnson then served as the featured speaker on the final night of the 2020 Republican National Convention, and Trump subsequently pardoned her before more recently naming her as his point person for pardons.
Trump has spent the week issuing high-profile pardons. Video released by a White House aide showed Johnson in the Oval Office on Tuesday, as Trump called their daughter to say he was pardoning TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley of the reality show “ Chrisley Knows Best.”
Their show spotlighted the family’s extravagant lifestyle, but the couple was convicted of conspiring to defraud banks in the Atlanta area out of more than $30 million in loans by submitting false documents Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley, addressed the Republican convention last summer and had long said her parents were treated unfairly.
Also Wednesday, Trump commuted the sentence of Larry Hoover, a former Chicago gang leader serving a life sentence. Hoover was first imprisoned in connection with a murder in 1973, and was convicted of running a criminal enterprise in 1998, but later renounced his criminal past and petitioned for a reduced sentence.
And the president pardoned James Callahan, a New York union leader who pleaded guilty to failing to report $315,000 in gifts from an advertising firm and was about to be sentenced.
The president also pardoned former Connecticut Gov. John Rowland, a Republican who served from 1995 to 2004 and was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for charges related to concealing his involvement in two federal election campaigns.
He further pardoned Michael Grimm, a New York Republican who resigned from Congress after being convicted of tax fraud. Grimm won reelection in 2014 despite being under indictment for underreporting wages and revenue at a restaurant that he ran.
Grimm eventually resigned after pleading guilty and serving eight months in prison. Last year, Grimm was paralyzed from the chest down when he was thrown off a horse during a polo tournament.
Yet another Trump pardon was issued for Army Lt. Mark Bradshaw, who was convicted in 2022 of reporting to work without undergoing a COVID-19 test.
Ari Melber with Fat Joe and former MSNBC president Rashida Jones.
If the contract ends, the possible exit of a popular MSNBC host.
Ari Melber was not pleased when he heard that Joy Reid was fired from the network. He is also not pleased about the company being spinned off from Comcast.
Melber is considering exiting the network after working there for nearly 15 years.
Melber has hosted “The Beat” since 2017. It ranked fourth in the ratings among the news channel’s shows as of Friday.
His possible departure comes at time of flux for the station. It’s preparing to separate from NBC to join a distinct corporate group under parent company Comcast.
Last month, a network rep confirmed that MSNBC’s popular poll wonk Steve Kornacki signed with NBC. That essentially severed his connection to the cable news outlet.
Melber’s loss would also prove costly on YouTube, where clips from his show draw hefty views, Breaker noted. In addition, top-rated host Rachel Maddow’s return to a once-a-week schedule is likely to diminish MSNBC viewership, so the loss of a proven personality like Melber could be costly.
Melber, an attorney, also serves as MSNBC’s chief legal correspondent.
He and an MSNBC rep declined comment to Breaker.
Neither MSNBC nor an Instagram account for Melber’s show immediately returned HuffPost requests for comment.
Melber has hosted many notable hip-hop figures such as Cam'ron, Judaism, 50 Cent, Common, Rick Ross and Fat Joe.
Up until October 2023, I was religiously watching The Beat with Ari Melber, The ReidOut and Deadline: White House. Those were my go to shows on MSNBC.
The network took a pro Israel stance as well as the competitors.
Israel made me less likely to watch cable news in general. MSNBC, Fox and CNN have taken the propaganda of Israel when discussing this genocide.
Fox os the most pro Israel network. It is propaganda for President Donald J. Trump and the state of Israel.
They let Joy Reid, Alex Wagner and Medhi Hasan go because they criticized Israel.
They demoted Ayman Mohyeldin and warned Ali Velshi to not be too critical of Israel.
When President Donald J. Trump doesn't give a fuck about you?
Washed up singer who backed Trump is caught up in Georgia.
Jaheim Hoagland, known as Jaheim is no longer living in New Jersey. His old mansion was condemned as unsafe. He ended up losing his mansion due to the animals he took in. He was criminally charged with animal abuse and unsafe living conditions.
So he is now living in Metro Atlanta with several of his relatives.
He was spotted driving for Uber/Lyft to pay off debts.
But even down there, he can't keep his animal count in control.
Maybe if he was a white women say, Hannah Cobb, he would not be criminally charged for animal cruelty.
Hoagland, was reportedly arrested for the endangering of his six dogs in Atlanta. Jaheim, who was charged with six counts of animal cruelty, is accused of not providing his dogs with adequate water, leaving them in unsanitary conditions and having insufficient ventilation. Among the dog breeds the singer housed were four pitbull terriers, a French bulldog and a hound mix-breed.
Fulton County arrested Hoagland for animal cruelty.
Jaheim was released the following day, but the arrest comes three years after he was arrested and charged with third-degree animal cruelty and failure to provide necessary care to an animal. At the time, the vocalist was alleged to have starved fifteen dogs at his New Jersey residence, including one that was found unresponsive and needed to be euthanized. Among the surviving dogs recovered were 12 mixed-breed pit bull terriers, two American Staffordshire terriers, and a mixed-breed boxer. The dogs were later put up for adoption.
Last year, the three-time Grammy nominee toured with Keyshia Cole, Trey Songz and K. Michelle for the Love Hard Tour. His last album, Struggle Love, was released in 2016.
Should we be concerned about Jaheim's mental health?
It appears that Jaheim does have mental health issues. He is known to smoke the rock and smoke the grass. But as far as we know, that's probably the only thing I've heard about him.
The suspect is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
