The former presidents will push back against Washed Up 45.
Former presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Barack Obama will soon meet with President Joe Biden to discuss a strategy to avoid potential threats to democracy like Washed Up 45 and Ron DeSantis.
The three former presidents have shown strong disdain for Washed Up 45.
Apparently the former president is considering another run. This has the former presidents extremely concerned.
Obama and Bush will focus on “highlighting rising threats from authoritarianism and disinformation — and how to combat them globally and at home,” according to the outlet.
Bush’s conference will take place in Dallas on November 16, while Obama’s will be in New York on November 17. Bush will interview Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at his conference. The interview is part of the George W. Bush Institute’s The Struggle for Freedom series. Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen will also be making an appearance through a taped talk.
Washed Up 45 frowns as he is rehearsing Tiffany Trump's wedding at Mar-a-Lago.
Obama’s event will focus on the “the biggest challenges democratic institutions face today,” according to the Obama Foundation.
David J. Kramer, executive director of the Bush Institute, told Axios he thinks it’s “terrific” the two former presidents will be touching on similar topics in the same week, on the heels of the midterm elections.
Washed Up 45 will be making a “very big announcement” on Tuesday, November 15, just before the Bush and Obama conferences.
“Two years ago we were a great nation and we will be a great nation again,” the former president said. “I’m going to be making a very big announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach. Florida.”
I wish Beto O'Rourke becomes a talk radio agitator who could motivate voters to the polls.
If one thing has taught me, the losing candidates never fade away. The 45th President of the United States will not go away but they want Hillary Clinton to go away. It baffles the mind that Washed Up 45 can say something and the news media is all over it but when Clinton speaks, the agitators make noise.
Al Gore has not been in the news. He won an Oscar and is a tireless advocate for climate change.
John Kerry now works for President Joe Biden.
Mitt Romney is a U.S. senator from Utah after numerous failures for president, governor amd senator for Massachusetts.
Hillary Clinton is working in film and is giving unapologetic interviews.
Washed Up 45 still thinks he is the president and believes he is rightfully the one in charge. He will regret it the next go around.
I have a feeling that the losing candidates will find a home on the news channels. It pains me to say this, but these people should never run for office ever again.
Oz needs a job. Fox might hire him.
I do not have an idea on where Beto O'Rourke should go but I have a feeling that progressive radio needs a voice who will be unapologetic and as strong as the noise makers of the far right. So I hope that Beto gets an opportunity to be a progressive radio host like Thom Hartmann, Stephanie Miller, John Fugelsang, Dean Obeidallah or Joe Madison. He failed in running for president, senate and now governor of Texas. It makes it hard for O'Rourke to get out the slump.
MSNBC should hire Tim Ryan as a contributor. He would be a powerful voice to hold J.D. Vance and the Republican Party accountable for just being noise not substance. He ran for president and the senate.
CNN should hire Stacey Abrams as a contributor. Abrams ran for governor twice and lost to Brian Kemp.
I don't know what Charlie Crist is gonna do. I mean his congressional seat flipped, Ron DeSantis trounced him and Florida does not want him teaching knowing the "woke" culture is banned in the penis state. He lost to Marco Rubio in the senate race and DeSantis for the governor race.
Dr. Mehmet Oz gambled his future on trying to be a U.S. Senator. It backfired. He had his show cancelled and Pennsylvania voters were turned off to his noise. Softball Hannity made Washed Up 45 back him over Kathy Barnette, the only candidate who stood a chance. But alas, we went for the noise and here we are. Oz may end up on Fox or Fox Nation.
After the Republicans faced a disappointing Midterm, some are calling for a permanent divorce from Washed Up 45. The former president said no matter what the Republicans says, "he ain't going nowhere."
His base said that he is their No. 1 choice and Ron DeSantis is a distant No. 2.
The MAGA Republicans will not accept the "establishment's" noise. If anything, it will likely motivate more candidates.
Ann Coulter, the far right extremist who got on early in 2015 to back Washed Up 45 became one of his greatest enemies on the right. She got angered at the rhetoric that he would make Mexico pay for a border wall. It never happened. She started demanding he stop allowing the moderates like Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump run his policies. Of course, he ignored it. Then she took to Twitter to mildly criticize him. He blocked her on social. She said that Softball Hannity should talk to him and convince the base that he will keep his promises. The annoying agitator dissed her, blocked her on social media and called her a "Never Trumper" thus starting a longstanding feud with the former president and the annoying Softball Hannity. Coulter singled out Washed Up 45 perceived failures despite a Republican trifecta during his first two years in office.
She also noted two of his more corrupt hiring decisions.
Now she had made it clear, the man child will never become president ever again.
To Trump: You had your chance, with a Republican House and Senate. You handed domestic policy to your son-in-law and Gary Cohn. You handed foreign policy to your son-in-law and a country that gave your son-in-law $2 billion.
Coulter’s comments come amid a flood of finger-pointing and infighting among Republicans after the predicted overwhelming victory failed to materialize and instead, the midterm lection itself was historically the best results for a first term president in decades.
She and Matt Drudge have been very critical of the former president. The are longtime friends and now the most prominent members of the Never Trump camp.
Washed Up 45 still fumed over GOP losses.
Bill Kristol, Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, David Jolly, George Conway, Joe Walsh, Mark Sanford, Charlie Sykes and Michael Steele have denounced the Republican Party and left because of the former president.
Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL), Rep. Anthony Gonzales (R-OH) and Rep. Peter Meijer (R-MI) have signalled they may leave the Republican Party in the future.
Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) vowed to step election deniers and MAGA-like candidates from winning. She lost her primary to Rep-elect Harriet Hageman (R-WY). She vows to make Hageman and many like her fail.
Coulter still an extremist and a master of dissing posted on social media her response to the former president being upset over the losses from Kari Lake (pending), Doug Mostriano and Mehmet Oz.
And while we’re still a ways off from understanding the fill picture, it’s looking like one of the most significant elements of the midterm is that candidates endorsed by Washed Up 45 lost in all but the safest districts or states. As a result, there has been unusually large and public criticism of the disgraced former president.
American comedian Gallagher has passed away at the age of 76. He was best known for his watermelon-smashing comedy routine and many popular specials in the 1980s, died Friday morning, according his manager Craig Marquardo. He was 76.
According to a statement provided to CNN by Marquardo, the comedian died “after a short health battle” and “passed away surrounded by his family in Palm Springs, California.”
Gallagher, born Leo Gallagher, became a household name in the early ’80s with a comedy special titled “An Uncensored Evening,” the first comedy stand up special ever to air on cable television, according to an obituary shared by Marquardo.
Gallagher’s most famous bit involved a hand-made sledgehammer he called the “Sledge-O-Matic,” which he would use to smash food on stage, spraying the audience.
“That was something else he liked to claim credit for, which was physically engaging the audience in that manner,” the obituary said.
Gallagher, a Fort Bragg, North Carolina native, earned a chemical engineering degree from the University of South Florida before moving to Los Angeles and developing his comedy act at legendary venue The Comedy Store, located on the Sunset Strip, according to his biography on the website for Selak Entertainment, a booking agency.
People began to take notice in 1975 when he performed his brand of prop comedy on Johnny Carson’s famed “The Tonight Show.”
No one can smash better.
TV was good to him and in 1978, he made an appearance on “The Mike Douglas Show” and the next year appeared on “The Merv Griffin Show.”
But it was his Showtime 1980s comedy specials that firmly cemented him in pop culture, and he would go on to do more than a dozen for the network over 27 years.
He was also an early staple of MTV and Comedy Central.
“While his counterparts went on to do sitcoms, host talk shows and star in movies, Gallagher stayed on the road touring America for decades,” the obituary said. “He was pretty sure he held a record for the most stand up dates, by attrition alone.”
Gallagher toured steadily until the Covid-19 pandemic hit and used the break to spend time with his son, Barnaby, and daughter Aimee, the latter of whom had appeared with him on his specials when she was a child.
Kevin Conroy was the iconic voice of Batman in the DC Animated Universe.
A man who is a legend among DC fans has passed away from cancer. Voice actor Kevin Conroy has passed away at the age of 66. There were many voices who donned the legendary superhero Batman, Kevin was the OG... the best and perhaps the iconic voice of The Dark Knight.
Kevin voice the superhero in Batman The Animated Series, the New Batman Adventures, Superman The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and several DC Animated and DC Movie Universe cannons.
He became the quintessential voice of the superhero in almost 60 different productions and video games, including 15 films, highlighted by "Batman: Mask of the Phantasm."
Mark Hamill, who is best known for Luke Skywalker also was an iconic voice in the DC Universe. He was the voice of The Joker.
Hamill also a progressive activist along with fellow actors mourned the loss of Conroy.
RIP my partner in crime (fighting.) Thank you, Kevin, for 30 years of laughs. “May the road rise to meet you…May god hold you in the hollow of his hand.” #batman#btas#robin#nightwinghttps://t.co/PajAwcXsLe
Stunned by the loss of this brilliant actor. Words can't express my admiration and respect for the man. I loved him like a brother.#RIPKevinConroy 💔 pic.twitter.com/THlaZ2uTSh
So saddened to hear the news of Kevin Conroy passing away. He was as kind as he was talented, and will be sorely missed. I had the pleasure of working with him on #Batman The Animated Series in the 90s. Here we are at NY Comicon in 2019. #Rip💔 pic.twitter.com/jjvQHfLUMx
Bruce imagined him, Andrea found him and, once found, Kevin kicked the door open for all of us to bring to you the amazing characters of DCAU. Kevin, my friend, my colleague, my hero. We will all miss you terribly. You are a singular soul. Thank you. Now rest #Batman#KevinConroypic.twitter.com/yrNC8Mfjnt
HUMANS!!! What an amazing life Kevin had. Just too short. I will miss him. Let's celebrate the joy he brought to us and send our love to his family. https://t.co/xMcOmYpxzw@RealKevinConroy
My heart is so very, very sad today. Kevin Conroy was THE Batman of my childhood…the one I rushed home to watch…the one who made me want to voice cartoons one day. The world has truly lost a legend…#RIPKevinConroy 💔 https://t.co/I43XhXvSnc
“He was one of my favorite people on the planet, and I loved him like a brother,” Hamill said. “He truly cared for the people around him — his decency shone through everything he did. Every time I saw him or spoke with him, my spirits were elevated.”
Meeting of the minds.
“Kevin was a brilliant actor,” Hamill added. “For several generations, he has been the definitive Batman. It was one of those perfect scenarios where they got the exact right guy for the exact right part, and the world was better for it. His rhythms and subtleties, tones and delivery — that all also helped inform my performance. He was the ideal partner — it was such a complementary, creative experience."
"I couldn’t have done it without him. He will always be my Batman.”
Warner Bros Animation released a statement.
"Warner Bros. Animation is saddened by the loss of our dear friend Kevin Conroy," the studio said in a statement. "His iconic performance of Batman will forever stand among the greatest portrayals of the Dark Knight in any medium. We send our warmest thoughts to his loved ones and join fans around the world in honoring his legacy."
Although he voiced a rugged hero on the small and big screens, outside of work he was known as a gentle and kind soul. Conroy was a fixture on the convention circuit, where he showed as much respect, enthusiasm and gratitude for his army of fans as they showed him.
Before he ended up being the voice of Bruce Wayne and Batman, Conroy was a stage actor and small screen actor. On a recommendation of friend, he went into Warner Bros. Studios and amazed Andrea Romero so much, she immediately casted him as Batman.
“Kevin was far more than an actor whom I had the pleasure of casting and directing — he was a dear friend for 30+ years whose kindness and generous spirit knew no boundaries,” Romano said in the statement of his passing. “Kevin’s warm heart, delightfully deep laugh and pure love of life will be with me forever.”
Tara Strong, Tim Daly, Phil LaMarr, Grey Delisle, Loren Lester, Will Fredie, Clancy Brown, Cree Summer, Susan Eisenberg, Michael Rosenbaum, Arleen Sorkin, Dana Delaney, Richard Moll, Ron Perlman and many others have expressed their condolences.
Conroy was born on Nov. 30, 1955, in Westbury, New York, and raised in Westport, Connecticut. He studied at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City alongside heralded actors like Christopher Reeve and Robin Williams.
He performed theatrically in New York and at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. Conroy received praise from critics for his performances in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Public Theater, “Eastern Standard” on Broadway and the title role of Hamlet at the 1984 New York Shakespeare Festival.
Conroy also had guest roles on popular TV series such as “Cheers,” “Murphy Brown” and “Matlock.”
Conroy is survived by his husband Vaughn C. Williams, sister Trisha Conroy, and brother Tom Conroy. Memorial services are pending.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) was defeated. Maloney can now spend time with his husband and children. His loss was shocking but no surprising. He managed to self destruct himself when he forced Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) to move to another district which did not even back him. Torres is openly gay as well as Maloney.
Both will be finding a new line of work or run in 2024.
The Republicans have not taken back Congress as of yet. They may win the House but end up not winning the Senate.
As the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, Maloney was in charge of helping embattled Democrats win in competitive seats. He ended up being the one on the embattled list.
He took issue with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). She backed his primary challenger and did not play a pivotal role in helping New York Democrats win.
Ocasio-Cortez is noise.
It's hard to get rid her. She is in a safe Democratic district.
Ocasio-Cortez, Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) are the most controversial women in office. They are noise makers who have little accomplishments other than trolling and driving the political leaders nuts.
Maloney was asked about the midterms by Nicholas Fandos of the New York Times on Thursday during a wide-ranging interview. When discussing Ocasio-Cortez, Maloney pulled few punches.
“There is a debate in New York right now about the New York Democratic Party, and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and some on the left are arguing its leadership is part of the problem here,” Fandos said to the outgoing congressman. “Is that a conversation you are a part of?”
Maloney responded:
"The last time I ran into A.O.C., we were beating her endorsed candidate two to one in a primary, and I didn’t see her one minute of these midterms helping our House majority. So, I’m not sure what kind of advice she has, but I’m sure she’ll be generous with it.
But let’s be clear, she had almost nothing to do with what turned out to be an historic defense of our majority. Didn’t pay a dollar of dues. Didn’t do anything for our frontline candidates except give them money when they didn’t want it from her."
The congressman went on to call Ocasio-Cortez “an important voice” who was nonetheless absent during the campaign.
“There are other voices who should be heard, especially when suburban voters have clearly rejected the ideas that she’s most associated with, from defunding the police on down,” Maloney concluded. “She’s an important voice in our politics. But when it comes to passing our agenda through the Congress, or standing our ground on the political battlefield, she was nowhere to be found.”
Many Democrats have voiced frustration with her and The Squad always being in the junk food media. They believe the Republicans use her as a scapegoat. They want her to actually work instead of being the left's version of Marjorie Taylor Greene.
Washed Up 45 and loyalists won't back anyone who ain't him.
The former president is warning his potential rivals in 2024 that once he declares his intentions, his base will back him no matter what!
After the Republicans failed to sweep a large swath of victories, many turned to finger pointing and debates on how to bring the noise down. The biggest noise is Washed Up 45.
Gay agitator Terrence K. Williams said it best, its him over all of them. The troll decided to sow his frustration with a series of conspiracy theories and attacks on Pennsylvania Democratic Sen-elect John Fetterman and President Joe Biden.
Washed Up 45 has taken aim at Florida's governor Ron DeSantis, Virginia's governor Glenn Youngkin, former vice president Mike Pence, former secretary of state Mike Pompeo and any other potential 2024 candidate.
He nicknamed the Florida governor “Ron DeSanctimonious” and then suggested he has dirt on the governor that he might let slip should DeSantis run against him.
Fox has turned on the former president. Rupert Murdoch's garbage pile of networks have asked of the former president to not declare his run while Herschel Walker is facing his run off against Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA).
Washed Up 45 said that his base will not support anyone who ain't him. If their is a fierce battle for the Republican nomination and he doesn't win, it is a possibility lf three scenarios:
1. Washed Up 45 will call the results rigged and blame Republicans for "setting him and his supporters up." It could weaken the nominee or it could force Republicans to ignore him.
2. Washed Up 45 could run as an independent and make it difficult for Republicans to keep their base together. I mean they practically are near fascist and their base is majority white. The MAGA base won't back a candidate who ain't Washed Up 45. However if DeSantis can disspell the noise and bring the base together, maybe they have a chance to not sink if Washed Up 45 does make an independent effort if he failed to get the nomination.
3. Washed Up 45 could be the nominee. It is a win or lose situation if the former president does run against President Joe Biden. Biden is being attacked by the former president, MAGA and Bernistas. The thoughts of a primary challenge from the far left are amped up by the noise, the far right wants Washed Up 45, the Republican establishment want the former president out of the picture and conspiracy theories are everywhere on social media. Who can say if the noise does benefit the former president or make things worse. If he does become the nominee, the Republicans are fitted with a challenge that could impact their chances.
Maggie Haberman is one of the noise makers who got the dirt on Washed Up 45 and his movements. The former president continues to not take responsibility for his actions.
When Mehmet Oz lost to Sen-elect John Fetterman (D-PA), Washed Up 45 was livid. He complained about how Oz lost to a "brain dead" loser. He complained about how Softball Hannity encouraged him to endorse Oz, Herschel Walker and numerous others only to see them lose.
Trump is indeed furious this morning, particularly about Mehmet Oz, and is blaming everyone who advised him to back Oz -- including his wife, describing it as not her best decision, according to people close to him.
Worth remembering that Trump is a grown man who endorsed Oz over the objection of some of the people closest to him, and instead went beyond just endorsing and attacked Dave McCormick from the stage at a rally.
Fetterman's win is a huge loss for the right-wing media universe. PA was a top priority. Stars like Hannity pulled out every stop for Oz. Scores of pro-GOP outlets derided Fetterman for months on end.
I blame Hannity and all the conservatives that trashed Kathy Barnette so we could have Oz as a candidate. He had no fire and no inspiration and lost to a vegetable. Unreal.
Walker and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) will face a runoff.
He also blamed his plastic face wife for forcing him to endorse Oz.
The former president had endorsed a candidate who wanted to run but ended up dropping out because of a scandal.
Had there been a "red wave," the former president would brag about it and soon declare his intention to run for another term which is expected.
The former president is also blaming aides for misguiding him on some of his other endorsements.
The former president also fumes at Karen DeSantis who easily won a second term as governor of Florida. The controversial governor is considering a run for 2024,
"This was the end of the Trump era and the dawn of the DeSantis era," a Republican operative close to the Trump orbit told ABC News. "Like every other Trump catastrophe, he did this to himself with stupid and reckless decisions."
This fool on CNN said that 2024 will be a primary year for Biden.
I am reminded that this Black leftist endorsed Nina Turner over Shontel Brown.
Baraki Sellers once again reigns on the parade. He is such a pain in the ass. He is almost as worthless as Marc Lamont Hill. Black men were a factor to why Stacey Abrams, Charlie Crist, Val Demings, Cheri Beasley and Beto O'Rourke's losses.

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins was stunned when analyst Sellers bluntly declared President Joe Biden will face a primary challenge in 2024 after midterm results that appear to have bolstered him.
The point is that no one came out a true winner. The status quo lawmakers managed to keep their seats despite an election year that favors the opposition.
As the results for a couple of House, Senate and Gubernatorial races are currently being decided, the Republicans are picking up the pieces from a somewhat disappointing Midterm.
While they won in some gerrymandered districts, most failed to achieve the goal of a "Red Wave."
Sellers openly declared he would like to see a primary challenge against Biden.
Like that will happen.
On top of that, didn't this guy endorse Bernie Sanders in 2016 and 2020?
I am still not wasting my time trying to pick over the noise and the results. I will continue to do what is necessary, hold them accountable and keep reminding the readers that democracy is at stake and if Washed Up 45, Karen DeSantis and other Republicans win, fascism will be the new norm.
Bakari Sellers is appealing to white leftists. He would suck for a buck.
Summary of post election. I am going to be brief because we wait to see if Lauren Boebert is going to serve another term or head home.
While I am very disappointed that senate races went the wrong direction with the fascists winning in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Ohio and Florida, most Democrats managed to hold on their seats.
We await the results of the Georgia, Arizona and Nevada races.
Nonetheless, Dems need to start regrouping.
The noise will waste no time trying to paint the Democrats as the party of everything but reality.
Governor races went in the direction of the Democrats in Massachusetts and Maryland. We hope we can flip Arizona
The District of Columbia, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, Kansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Michigan, New York, California, New Mexico, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine and Hawai'i kept the seats in Democratic hands.
We await for Nevada and Oregon's results hoping that the Democrats keep the seats in their column.
We saw the rise and quick fall of Mayra Flores. The first Latina Republican from Texas to win in a special election was defeated by Dan Sanchez. She was going to be noise had she won the 2022 election.
She barely even had a chance to even get into the pool of noise. She won't join Byron Donalds, Burgess Owens, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar in the Freedumb Caucausins.
I said ignore the noise. I am going to start considering a podcast to detail the issues that face our community, the government and the junk food media.
Republicans do not see a red wave. They are projected to take the House of Representatives by a very slim majority. The Democrats could retain a hold on the senate but we await the results of Arizona, Wisconsin, and Nevada.
Do you believe what went down?
Is the Republican Party too extreme or is the Democrats not doing enough to solve the problems?
Matter of fact, it is a stark warning to both parties. Tone down or lose your seat. While Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan, Paul Gosar, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mary Miller continue to be noise, it appears that Madison Cawthorn and Lauren Boebert will be heading home.
The race has not been called yet but Colorado race between Boebert and Adam Frisch, the Democrat appears to be leading against the Republican. Boebert a frequent noise maker did not expect this seat to be competitive given how the seat is a Republican stronghold
Marcy Kaptur keeps her gerrymandered Ohio seat. Emilia Sykes will join Shontel Brown and Joyce Beatty in the Congressional Black Caucus after her win in Ohio. Ohio has three Black lawmakers and they're women.
Greg Landsman defeats longtime Republican Steve Chabot in an Ohio gerrymandered district. Chabot was defeated before.
Well, I guess we will have J.D. Vance as Ohio's newest senator. He beats Tim Ryan who bet the farm on not having Democrats near him. Ryan messed up big time by bashing the party. It did not fare well for longtime moderate lawmaker. Vance who moved back to Ohio from California now will be representing a state that has become increasingly red.
Nan Whaley was crushed by Republican Mike DeWine.
Val Demings also goes down hard. She and Charlie Crist lost their races to Marco Rubio and Ron DeSantis. DeSantis, a polarizing Republican is considering a 2024 run for president.
Cheri Beasley who almost pulled it off lost to election denier Ted Budd.
Beto O'Rourke loses to Greg Abbott.
Stacey Abrams loses again to Brian Kemp.
It appears that Raphael Warnock and Herschel Walker will head into a runoff election.
Maryland has its first Black governor. Wes Moore will be governor of Maryland.
Massachusetts Democrat Maura Healey became the first woman elected as governor, as well as the first openly lesbian.
Guam's open congressional seat goes to Republican James Moylan. He will be the first delegate for the U.S. territory in over 30 years.
John Fetterman has put Dr. Mehmet Oz out to pasture. Oprah, President Joe Biden, former president Barack Obama amd his two former Democratic rivals helped carry this oaf to victory.
Maggie Hassan defeats Don Bolduc in New New Hampshire and keeps Democrats hopes of retaining the majority.
The outcome of races for House and Senate will determine the future of Biden’s agenda and serve as a referendum on his administration as the nation reels from record-high inflation and concerns over the direction of the country. Republican control of the House would likely trigger a round of investigations into Biden and his family, while a GOP Senate takeover would hobble Biden’s ability to make judicial appointments.
Democrats were facing historic headwinds. The party in power almost always suffers losses in the president’s first midterm elections, but Democrats had been hoping that anger from the Supreme Court’s decision to gut abortion rights might energize their voters to buck historical trends.
AP VoteCast, a broad survey of the national electorate, showed that high inflation and concerns about the fragility of democracy were heavily influencing voters. Half of voters said inflation factored significantly, with groceries, gasoline, housing, food and other costs that have shot up in the past year. Slightly fewer — 44% — said the future of democracy was their primary consideration.
Biden didn’t entirely shoulder the blame for inflation, with close to half of voters saying the higher-than-usual prices were more because of factors outside of his control. And despite the president bearing criticism from a pessimistic electorate, some of those voters backed Democratic candidates.
Overall, 7 in 10 voters said the ruling overturning the 1973 decision enshrining abortion rights was an important factor in their midterm decisions. VoteCast also showed the reversal was broadly unpopular. About 6 in 10 say they are angry or dissatisfied by it, while about 4 in 10 were pleased. And roughly 6 in 10 say they favor a law guaranteeing access to legal abortion nationwide.
There were no widespread problems with ballots or voter intimidation reported around the country, though there were hiccups typical of most Election Days.
After the abrupt firing of Tiffany Cross from MSNBC, Black journalists, the NAACP and prominent Black media agitators including Joy Reid have called for president Rashida Jones to reinstate Cross.
Tiffany Cross was fired out the cannon last week and it was swift. Since her firing, far right agitators like the previous one who was fired from the network, Karen Loesch, Cucker Carlson and Fox have danced on this like they've did Trevor Noah, Samantha Bee, Don Lemon, Brian Stelter and Chris Cuomo.
Cuomo has joined Newsnation shortly after his abrupt cannon firing at CNN.
Variety, citing MSNBC sources, reported that Cross’ relationship with MSNBC was “becoming frayed” as executives grew “concerned about the anchor’s willingness to address statements made by cable-news hosts on other networks and indulging in commentary executives felt did not meet the standards of MSNBC or NBC News.”
The “final straw” for Cross may have been her comments this week about Florida. Appearing on Comedy Central’s Hell of a Week with Charlemagne, Cross was asked which state Democrats could afford to lose in the upcoming mid-term elections. “Florida literally looks like the dick of the country, so let’s get rid of Florida,” Cross said. “Let’s castrate Florida.”
The letter’s authors included leaders of civil rights groups and nonprofit organizations, including Melanie L. Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation; Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP; Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood; and Rashad Robinson, president of Color of Change. It was also signed by sports journalist Jemele Hill, political commentator Angela Rye and journalist Roland Martin.
They wrote that they were “deeply disappointed” that the network abruptly canceled Cross’s show days before the midterm elections — especially as many Republicans gear up to reject the results if they lose.
“Given the undeniable rise of fascism and persistent threats to democracy we face in the current moment, NBC should be an unrelenting force for truth and a safe harbor for voices like Ms. Cross as well as those with whom she shared her broad and popular platform,” the authors wrote.
“While other networks give voice to election deniers, Ms. Cross featured voting rights champions. Where other shows spread disinformation, The Cross Connection spotlighted justice,” they said in the letter. “Where other outlets catered to the country’s worst instincts, Ms. Cross elevated the discourse and taught audiences how to protect democracy.”
The letter condemned Carlson’s “targeted, racist and misogynistic strike” against Cross’s show that took place over weeks, stating that the network allowed Fox News to bully them into taking the show off the air. The Fox News host aired a montage of clips from “The Cross Connection” on his program, claimed that Cross was attempting to incite a “race war” and drew parallels between her program and a media outlet that fomented the 1994 Rwandan genocide.
In a statement after her show’s cancellation, Cross wrote: “Fresh off the heels of a ‘racial reckoning,’ as so many have called it, we see that with progress, there is always backlash. Now is not the time to retreat to politics or business as usual. It is my hope that the last two years at MSNBC have been disruptive and transformative, changing how politics are discussed and making policy more digestible.”
“The Cross Connection” was one of the more popular weekend shows on the network, with more than 500,000 viewers tuning in per week.
“We received a letter signed by several organizations. We are proud of our long history celebrating diversity on and off air at MSNBC and throughout the News Group,” a network spokesperson said in a statement. “This is an ongoing effort, and we’ll continue to elevate diverse perspectives and voices during this election season and beyond.”
MSNBC said the network made a programming decision to cancel the show, and there will be a rotation of hosts until programming is finalized in that timeslot.
There are only a handful of Black female hosts on cable news, which makes the show’s cancellation even more devastating for Black viewers, who comprised 35% of her audience, according to the Black leaders’ letter. Many viewers were drawn to Cross’s unflinching analysis and commentary on politics and news.
“There is a persistent theme in the denigrating of Black women’s value and the silencing of Black women’s voices when they speak uncomfortable but necessary truths about the state of our society,” the authors of the letter wrote. “This season is too grave a moment in American history to silence the voices of Black Women who, time and again, save America from itself.”
“Tiffany Cross has long been one of those Black women — and her voice is needed now more than ever.”
