The extremist admits he rather die than get vaccinated.
The far-right extremist got the coronavirus for a second time and this time it could be worse than the first round.
The extremist said on his radio program and The Blaze network that the virus is getting into his lungs.
Speaking a fellow far-right extremist who is co-owner of Blaze Media, the agitator said he's had the virus for a week. He said he was "great, except having COVID and seeing the destruction of our country."
The agitator said this was a"lighter case, but it's now starting to go into my lungs today, which is a little disturbing," adding that he is "on all the medications and treatments and everything else, so we'll see."
The agitator went to Fox to say to the white nationalist in primetime that he had COVID -19 and beacuse of that he would not get vaccinated.
The Centers for Disease Control recommends that everyone, even those who have previously contracted the virus, get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The agitator told the fellow extremist that he was not being treated with monoclonal antibodies, some of which are less effective against the omicron strain, but instead he's trying junk science.
He is taking ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine and fluvoxamine. The CDC and many health experts say that these are not approved coronavirus treatment and that his doctors were "hitting him hard."
The two went on to talk about unproven medical claims and President Joe Biden.
If he does make it through this bout, he will claim that vaccines are worthless and the like.
The omicron variant is more contagious, but is considered less serious. Cases of breakthrough infections are increasing. Thanks to those who refuse to get vaccinated, the coronavirus is mutating and its becoming more infectious. Those who got vaccinated are getting mild symptoms.
Those who are unvaccinated are either experiencing mild to severe symptoms. They are overwhelming the hospitals.
If only Americans got vaccinated, we would have been back to normal. Alas, they wanna fuck around and now they're going to find out. Matter of fact, we all are going to find out.
Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.
President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.
But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war.
With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.
We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.
The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.
Pathetic.
The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.
Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19.
If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.
Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

The shit is crazy. Murda goes after New York rappers, Lil Nas X, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, R. Kelly, Fat Joe, Future, Kirk Franklin, Wendy Williams, Washed Up 45, President Joe Biden, Travis Scott, Drake, Kanye West and threw out conspiracy theories on vaccines.
Lenny Grant is a controversial figure in hip-hop. He is known as a rapper, songwriter and producer/
In the diss, the says he doesn't care how you feel, how you react or what you think.... He's hood and he's dissing.
The controversial Arizona senator will not back the filibuster rules change.
The Democratic senators Karen Sinema of Arizona and Karen Manchin of West Virginia have been thorns in President Joe Biden's side. Despite the attempts by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to force a floor vote on the Build Back Better agenda and voting rights, it's blocked by the 50 Karens in the Republican conferences and these two Karens in the Democratic caucus.
These two Democrats are destructive to the very course of democracy.
A majority of Americans believe democracy is trouble. Since the insurrection, we seen Republicans pass more partisan voting restrictions to keep people from voting. We seen the Supreme Court down policies towards health and safety.
We have Republican members openly calling for the assassination of federal workers.
We have a handful of news networks freely pushing extremism on a national stage.
Black people voted for Biden to win.
We didn't vote for Karens.
Sinema and Manchin went to the Democratic luncheon with their hands cross and their mouths completely shut when Biden urged the party to get on board with changing the filibuster.
He said now is not the time to be complacent to the status quo.
The Democrats have a slim majority in the Senate. Had the former president had that, I bet you money, the opposition leader McConnell would have quickly pushed forward an elimination of the filibuster to pass legislation to roll back the Affordable Care Act, restrictions to a woman's body, sending immigrants back to their home countries despite not being there when they were children and who knows.
Sinema believes that if we take away the filibuster and go through simple majority, the consequences will be equal. Don't worry bitch, McConnell will find a way.
Matter of fact, the goal is to reinstall the former president.
Washed Up 45 or anyone can be the U.S. Speaker of the House. The Republicans can impeach Biden and Vice President Harris and thus the former president if chosen to be speaker could be president.
Republicans take control of the senate and throw out the filibuster and thus remove Biden and Harris.
Then Republicans can rule with an iron fist and cause another insurrection.
They will prey on the stupid by telling them that the economy is bad, Blacks are dangerous, immigrants are getting handouts, radical Islam on the rise, they want to silence your voice. They are stirring the ingredients of a white nationalist revolution in which the dying race is being replaced.
Leading will be Murdoch's bullshit peddlers on primetime and the internet thanks to Mark Zuckerberg and his ilk.
And when the day come, we can thank her and Manchin.
She said removing the filibuster would not guarantee "that we prevent demagogues from being elected" and that getting rid of it would merely be treating the "symptom" of partisanship and not the underlying problem.
No to change.
Sinema said while she continues to strongly back Democrats' elections legislation she will not support "separate actions that worsen the underlying disease of division infecting our country ... There's no need for me to restate my long-standing support for the 60-vote threshold to pass legislation."
"When one party need only negotiate with itself, policy will inextricably be pushed from the middle towards the extremes," she added, noting that she does not support that outcome, and she knows "Arizonans do not either."
Sinema's position has been consistent throughout recent negotiations on voting rights but is a fatal blow to her party as they tried to strike a unified tone in backing legislation on the issue, ahead of a self-imposed deadline Monday to act.
Arizona Rep. Ruben Gallego called out Sinema by name for supporting the filibuster over the wishes of Biden, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and other progressive Democrats. Gallego has not ruled out running against Sinema in the 2024 Senate primary.
"We won't shrink from protecting our democracy and the voting rights of all Americans," he said on Thursday. "It's past time for the US Senate and Senator Sinema to do the same."
Arizona Democratic Party chair Raquel Terán also criticized Sinema, saying the organization was "disappointed to say the least that she has chosen to protect an antiquated rule over her constituents."
Sinema acknowledged some states are passing laws that make it harder for voters to access the ballot box, and said she supports civil rights groups challenging those laws in court, and she said she will support voting rights bills coming from the House. However, she is not going to back a change to the filibuster.
Sinema argued the country needs a "sustained robust effort to defend American Democracy." She outlined some ways to do this, including supporting state and local candidates who represent the values enshrined in our Constitution and ensuring "we have a judiciary that is less lopsided in its political leanings." She also said that it is key the nation "confront and combat the rise of rampant disinformation."
Sinema drew praise from her fellow moderate Manchin who said he listened to Sinema's speech and that she did an "excellent job."
"I think it's the points that I've been making for an awful long time, and she has too," he said, when asked if he agrees with many of the points she made in her floor remarks.
Republicans also praised Sinema. McConnell told CNN that her remarks were an act of "conspicuous of political courage." He added: "She saved the Senate as an institution."
The Ohio Supreme Court struck down the governor's decision to approve the new state and U.S. Congressional maps. The Buckeye state will lose one congressional district. Republicans were hoping to make a power move by giving 14 districts to them and two to Democrats.
They were going to draw congressional maps that limited Rep. Marcy Kaptur (D-OH), Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH) and Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-OH). Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH) is making a sacrificial lamb decision to run for the U.S. Senate.
Ohio is considered more Republican thanks to Washed Up 45 winning the state by eight points.
The voters approved a measure that would establish a committee that would make a fair decision on how to draw up the state map.
In a 4-3 decision, the state court sent the maps back to the Ohio Redistricting Commission, giving the GOP-led panel 10 days to take another crack at complying with the provisions of a 2015 constitutional amendment requiring an attempt at avoiding partisan favoritism.
The Republican state chief justice Karen O'Conner provided a pivotal swing vote, joining the three Democrats in a victory for national voting rights and Democratic groups.
Ohio and other states were required to redraw their congressional maps to reflect the results of the 2020 census, under which the state lost one of its current districts due to lagging population. The plan sprinted through the state house and passed without Democratic support. It was signed by Ohio's Karen governor DeWine.
He has a crony on the court. His son is one of those cronies who voted to keep the gerrymandered map.
The Supreme Court's idiot wing downs Biden's attempts to save the country.
Sabotage.
I bet you wish we had elected a woman to be president in 2016. I bet you wish you didn't support the decision to vote for a washed up entertainer. I bet you hear the same ankle biters demand the 46th President of the United States magically wave a wand and change everything in a second.
In reality, white nationalism still exists. The former president left a trail of extremism on his way out.
It oozed into state legislatures, state courts and now the federal government. We see the aftermath of allow Republicans run governments. Now we see the aftermath of a court system not with the times.
The consequences of American politics. The cause and effect of an American electorate devoted to putting stupidity ahead of science.
The U.S. Supreme Court downs President Joe Biden's attempt at forcing a requirement for American employees at large businesses to be vaccinated against COVID-19 or undergo weekly testing and wear a mask on the job.
At the same time, the court is allowing the administration to proceed with a vaccine mandate for most health care workers in the the U.S.
The court's decision on Thursday during a spike the coronavirus will set back the goal to get Americans vaccinated in the wake of the delta and omicron variants. This also slows down Biden's efforts to get Americans vaccinated.
The court's stupid wing concluded that the administration overstepped its authority by seeking to impose the Occupational Safety and Health Administration's vaccine or test rule on U.S. businesses with at least 100 employees. More than 80 million people will be affected if the court would have sided with scinece.
"OSHA has never before imposed such a mandate. Nor has Congress. Indeed, although Congress has enacted significant legislation addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, it has decline to enact any measure similar to what OSHA has promulgated here," the six idiots on the right wrote.
Washed Up 45's pick Gorsuch refuses to wear a mask. The other pick, Barrett plays Karen.
In dissent, the court's three liberals argued that it was the court that was overreaching by substituting its judgement for that of health experts. "Acting outside of its competence and without legal basis, the Court displaces the judgements of the government officials given the responsibility to respond to workplace health emergencies," said Justice Stephen Breyer, Elena Kagan and Sonia Sotomayor in a joint dissent.
The challenge came from states where the coronavirus is surging. Guess?
Republican-led states.
This decision is a test of what we're expecting from the Court in the coming months. The Supreme Court will rule on the Texas and Mississippi abortion bans. They will make a decision that will impact women's health.
So as we're approaching 900,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus, we will see American businesses force companies to allow unvaccinated workers continue to come to their jobs and spread it.
Those who are vaccinated could be exposed. They will get sick and thus we'll keep the cycle of death going.
One less racist. We still got a lot more to get rid of.
I don't dance on the graves of my enemies. I rather they find eternal peace wherever they go. But this is one funeral I will not be attending. I mean I guess his bargain book, White Girl Bleed A Lot will be topping the best sellers list.
After all, white nationalists need fuel for their engine of hate.
Dear Black folks: We are at war. Right now, millions of racist white Americans are mourning the death of the super racist Colin Flaherty. This evil clown preached extreme hatred against Blacks in general. White bigots are celebrating his life. pic.twitter.com/wN2blOXgU3
Apparently racist author Colin Flaherty has died. Flaherty was scheduled to speak at the last white nationalist American Renaissance conference but pulled out due to health issues.
In two best-selling books, he documented the black criminality epidemic, vastly disproportionate to black % of population, and the Regime Media's efforts to conceal it, which he called: “the biggest lie of our generation.”
Colin Flaherty is now taking a dirt nap. I am happy to see such a despicable human being like this gone.
It almost seems like we talked about him yesterday.
Feels like Rush Limbaugh all over again.
If we could get rid of the MAGAtoonist and that annoying "softball" agitator on Fox, maybe I'll probably celebrate.
Flaherty looked really like he's was dying in his September 2021 posting.
We talked about this white extremiston the blog and he actually responded back to us. I was actually shocked to hear that this disease would respond to our blog.
He became a household name when he started writing for WorldNetDaily. He was talking about Black on whatever crime throughout Barack Obama's presidency. He got the attention of Fox and that annoying agitator, "Softball" Hannity.
The agitator was promoting him as the counternarrative to the Michael Brown shooting and protests.
Flaherty had few Black allies. I mean Larry Elder, Jesse Lee Peterson and Kevin Jackson were among those Black allies who supported his pseudo-statistics.
He often would post on YouTube and Twitter videos of Black criminality. He would often equate the narrative that Black people were violent and white people would have to take arms.
Don't get me started on his opinions on crime within a interracial relationship. A white woman would be killed by a Black man, he would tweet it and share it on social media. It would be picked up on the racist watering holes.
There wasn't much to say him other than he's done nothing but divide our nation with racial angst.
Wikipedia deleted his article and tied it into "White Girl Bleed A Lot."
Hopefully, if there is a hell, Flaherty and Rush Limbaugh can rest comfortably.
Right wing agitator and white supremacist writer Colin Flaherty died yesterday in Delaware. He was 66 years old.
He is best known for writing three venomous racist books such as White Girl Bleed a Lot, The Knockout Game, and Don't Make The Black Kids Angry.
He was the host of his podcast until 2020. His racist views have influenced racists and bigots such as the orange man, Sean Hannity, countless Republican politicians such as Pat McCrory.
He has caused so many deaths of Black people because the police, vigilantes, and the easily brainwashed public, picked up his Klan views as a clarion call to harm Blacks all over America.
Not one ounce of sympathy coming from me, for he has destroyed so many peoples' lives.
We lose another talent. The famed lead singer of the 1960s R&B group, The Ronettes has passed away.
The cat-eyed, bee-hived rock ‘n’ roll siren who sang such 1960s hits as “Be My Baby,” “Baby I Love You” and “Walking in the Rain” as the leader of the girl group The Ronettes, has died. She was 78.
Spector died Wednesday after a brief battle with cancer, her family said. “Ronnie lived her life with a twinkle in her eye, a spunky attitude, a wicked sense of humor and a smile on her face. She was filled with love and gratitude,” a statement said. No other details were revealed.
Tributes flooded social media, from Stevie Van Zandt saying it was an honor to produce her, to Brian Wilson, who wrote on Twitter: “I loved her voice so much and she was a very special person and a dear friend.” Diane Warren called her “The voice of a million teenage dreams including mine.”
The Ronettes’ sexy look and powerful voices — plus songwriting and producing help from Phil Spector — turned them into one of the premier acts of the girl-group era, touring England with The Rolling Stones and befriending the Beatles.
Spector, alongside her sister Estelle Bennett and cousin Nedra Talley, scored hits with pop masterpieces like “Baby, I Love You,” “Walking in the Rain,” “I Can Hear Music” and “Be My Baby,” which was co-written by Spector, Jeff Barry and Ellie Greenwich.
“We weren’t afraid to be hot. That was our gimmick,” Spector said in her memoir. “When we saw The Shirelles walk on stage with their wide party dresses, we went in the opposite direction and squeezed our bodies into the tightest skirts we could find. Then we’d get out on stage and hike them up to show our legs even more.”
Spector, born Veronica Bennett, and her multiracial bandmates grew up in the Washington Heights area of Manhattan. They began singing and dancing in clubs as Ronnie and the Relatives, becoming noteworthy for their liberal use of eyeliner and mascara.
“The louder they applauded, the more mascara we put on the next time,” she wrote in her memoir. “We didn’t have a hit record to grab their attention, so we had to make an impression with our style. None of it was planned out; we just took the look we were born with and extended it.”
In March 1963, Estelle Bennett managed to arrange an audition in front of Phil Spector, known for his big, brass-and-drum style dubbed the “wall of sound.” They were signed to Philles Records in 1963. After being signed, they sang backup for other acts until Spector had the group record “Be My Baby” and “Baby I Love You.”
The group’s debut album, “Presenting the Fabulous Ronettes Featuring Veronica,” was released in 1964. Five of its 12 tracks had made it to the U.S. Billboard charts.
“Nothing excites me more than just being onstage, having fun and flirting and winking to the guys and stuff like that,” she told People magazine in 2017. “I just have so much fun. It’s just the best feeling when I go out and they say, “Ladies and gentlemen…” —my heart stops for a minute—“…Ronnie Spector and the Ronettes!” Then I just go out there and the crowd reacts the way they react and I can go on singing forever.”
After touring Germany in 1967, the Ronettes broke up. Spector married Ronnie in 1968, then she said he kept her locked in their Beverly Hills mansion. Her 1990 autobiography “Be My Baby: How I Survived Mascara, Miniskirts And Madness” tells an unhappy story of abuse. The couple divorced in 1974. Phil Spector was sent to prison in 2009 for the murder of actress Lana Clarkson and died in 2021.
Ronnie Spector’s influence was felt far and wide. Brian Wilson became obsessed with “Be My Baby” and Billy Joel wrote “Say Goodbye to Hollywood” in Spector’s honor. Amy Winehouse frequently cited Spector as an idol.
Martin Scorsese used “Be My Baby” to open his 1973 film “Mean Streets” and the song appears in the title sequence of “Dirty Dancing” and the closing credits of “Baby Mama.” It also appeared on TV in “Moonlighting” and “The Wonder Years.”
When the Ronettes were inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Keith Richards of The Rolling Stones remembered opening for the trio in England in the mid-1960s. “They could sing all their way right through a wall of sound,” Richards said. “They didn’t need anything. They touched my heart right there and then and they touch it still.”
After the Ronettes broke up, Spector continued to tour and make music, including “Take Me Home Tonight” with Eddie Money, recording Joel’s “Say Goodbye to Hollywood” with Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, and recording the 1999 EP “She Talks to Rainbows,” which included her first ever recording of “Don’t Worry Baby,” written for her by Brian Wilson.
In 2006, she released “Last of the Rock Stars,” her first album in 20 years and it featured appearances by the Raconteurs, Keith Richards, Patti Smith and the Raveonettes. In 2010 she released a doo-wop Christmas EP called “Ronnie Spector’s Best Christmas Ever” and in 2016 released “English Heart,” her covers of songs from Britain in the ’60s.
She is survived her husband, Jonathan Greenfield, and two sons, Jason and Austin.
Calvin Simon, an iconic funk, pop and gospel singer passed away.
Iconic co-founder of the funk band Funkadelic and Parliament passed away.
Calvin Simon, a singer and original member of the influential, genre-bending music collective Parliament-Funkadelic, has died at age 79.
His death was announced on the official Facebook page for George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic, which wrote, “Fly on Calvin!”
The news was later confirmed on Simon’s personal Facebook page with a post featuring a photo of the music group in 1974.
“Thank everyone for the wonderful memories… we will so miss you Calvin… but love the thought that heaven just got a bit funkier, reads the announcement, which was shared Saturday.
Simon, whose cause of death was not released, began in the late 1950s with the doo-wop band the Parliaments, which formed in New Jersey.
The West Virginia-born artist was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997 as a member of the multi-band Parliament-Funkadelic collective.
Simon most recently released an album titled “I Believe” in 2018.

Every community in the United States will eventually have a legacy. A legacy of tragedy. Gun violence and COVID-19 will affect your town, your family and your life. So I don't want to hear that bullshit about how gun reform is taking away your rights to own firearms.
I don't want to hear that protesting against police killing people of color is hate on cops in general. I don't want to hear talk about the coronavirus being a myth. When you hear folks say "gun rights," what they really mean is that its white privilege.
I don't want to hear folks say masks and vaccine mandates impede their freedoms. It prevents a deadly outbreak from spreading. If you want to die from the coronavirus, that's on you.
I don't want to hear the shit about guns saving lives. Cause a bullet does not have eyes and it's always likely gonna hit a target. These folks seem to not get it. These incidents are a tragic part of American history.
The website Officer Down is a memorial to those who were killed in the line of duty. Those who don't get their names mentioned in the junk food media. Also the website the National Gun Violence Memorial also keeps record of the many individuals killed by gun violence.

GUN VIOLENCE IS THE NUMBER ONE PROBLEM IN THE UNITED STATES!
Biden calls for systematic change. Will they listen?
It takes a village.
Yesterday, Joy Reid hosted a controversial leftist and CNN hosted another leftist. They both slammed Biden for being "all talk." They said they're not impressed by Biden's handling of voting rights.
Like he can magically wave a fucking wand and make things happen. He signs laws. He can negotiate with these fucking senators and often be stopped by opposition. The opposition has overused the filibuster and it's been an obstacle to get things done.
The "woke mob" which is proving to be damaging to the Democrats in the longtime are demanding that Biden pass voting rights.
He has a 50-50 senate with Vice President Kamala Harris being the tie-breaker. The Senate is stalled on many of the House bills passed. Two white nationalist Democrats refuse to back the Build Back Better and voting rights bills.
The 49 white nationalists and one Black enabler within the Republican Party won't support anything.
So basically you have 51 white nationalist and one Black enabler as Biden described it "Presidents" who want to dictate how the country is ran.
All the ankle biters like Latosha Brown of the Black Voters Matter group and Cliff Albright will drain the Democrats out of their resources. They decided to boycott the president's arrival.
Many Americans don't vote anyway. Especially the leftists who supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in his two failed bids for president. On top of that, many Americans aren't voting because they trust politicians. Biden can travel to any state or territory in the country. He can say everything and these fucking ankle biters are going to cherry-pick the speech.
Matter of fact, he said "President Harris" and guess what the folks are going to discuss?
Biden on Tuesday called for an end to the filibuster to allow for passage of federal voting rights bills, as congressional Democrats increasingly prioritize ballot box protections and advocates grow frustrated over stalled legislation.
In a long-awaited speech on voting rights, the president tried to frame the issue as one that has historically received bipartisan support, accusing Senate Republicans of lacking the "courage to stand up to a defeated president to protect the right to vote." Their obstruction, he said, left Democrats with "no option but to change the Senate rules, including getting rid of the filibuster for this."
"Pass it now," Biden said, referring to the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. "I am tired of being quiet."
Biden has been under pressure to more aggressively address voting rights after a wave of restrictive voting laws, fueled by Washed Up 45's false claims about the results of the 2020 election, were passed last year by more than a dozen GOP-controlled state legislatures. His speech also comes amid anxiety from activists who are frustrated and demanding more leadership from the president.
Biden, who frequently describes himself as an institutionalist, had resisted for months calls to back the changing of the filibuster. But he said Tuesday that "the United States Senate, designed to be the world's greatest deliberative body, has been rendered a shell of its former self."
Even with the president’s new position on the filibuster, it is unclear how voting rights legislation would pass Congress. Republicans have remained unified in their opposition to the two voting rights bills currently being considered and Sen. Karen Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Karen Sinema (D-AZ) have said they oppose altering the filibuster. Without their votes, Democrats would be unable to change Senate rules to get around the 60-vote threshold.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) announced Tuesday that the Senate would vote on the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act by Monday, Martin Luther King Jr. Day. When they fail, Democrats will consider changing Senate rules, Schumer said.
Biden delivered his remarks Tuesday at the Atlanta University Center Consortium, the oldest and largest association of historically Black colleges and universities. He also visited the crypt of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. before going to the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church, where King used to preach and where Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) is now a pastor.
Biden framed the moment as an inflection point in American democracy and urged senators of both parties to consider the role they played in protecting the right to vote.
"Will you stand for democracy, yes or no?," said Biden. "Do you want to be on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? This is the moment to decide."
Harris was invested in voting rights since she was a senator.
Some voting rights advocates had expressed frustration with the president ahead of his visit for not prioritizing legislation on the issue earlier on in his administration, arguing that Biden's rhetoric on the issue has not translated into a strategy to get legislation passed.
"While President Biden delivered a stirring speech today, it’s time for this administration to match their words with actions, and for Congress to do their job," NAACP president Derrick Johnson said in a statement after the speech. "Voting rights should not simply be a priority — it must be THE priority."
Stacey Abrams, a Democratic candidate for governor and one of the party’s most prominent advocates for voting rights, did not attend Tuesday’s speech. Some influential activist groups, including the Black Voters Matter Fund and the New Georgia Project Action Fund, also skipped the event in an effort to highlight what they said is the need for action in the U.S. Senate, rather than speeches.
In an interview with MSNBC Tuesday morning, Martin Luther King III and his wife, Arndrea Waters King, said it had been a “difficult decision” to attend Biden’s speech.
“We certainly understand the frustration of our local partners here in Georgia,” Waters King said. “It’s been a long year of a lot of things not being done, and we stand and we share that frustration.”
Biden’s speech in Atlanta was only the second time since taking office that he has held an event solely dedicated to voting rights, following a speech on the issue in Philadelphia in July. In comparison, he has held more than 60 events solely dedicated to the pandemic and 40 events focused on his infrastructure and Build Back Better agenda.
“Giving dozens of speeches for Build Back Better didn't get us Build Back Better,” said Nsé Ufot, the chief executive officer of the New Georgia Project and its affiliate, New Georgia Project Action Fund. “So if they are telling me that this speech is going to get us voting rights, I don't think it's crazy or unreasonable for me to ask simply: how?”
"I'm looking for marching orders. I'm looking for a plan," she added.
At least 19 states passed laws last year making it more difficult to vote, according to the Brennan Center for Justice. Far more restrictive voting rights laws were enacted around the country in 2021 than in any year since the center began tracking voting legislation a decade ago.
In the spring, Georgia’s Republican-controlled state legislature passed a law that limits the time voters have to request absentee ballots, institutes tougher ID requirements, significantly cuts down on the number of mail-in voting drop boxes, and bans offering food or water to voters waiting in line.
Biden won Georgia in the 2020 election by less than a percentage point, becoming the first Democratic presidential candidate to prevail in the state since 1992. Georgia also delivered Democrats control of the Senate with the election of Warnock and Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) in January 2021.
Clay Aiken makes another run and this time he is confident he will win.
The former American Idol singer and actor is now turning his eyes to Washington, DC. He announced he is running for Congress. After the last battle in which he came within four points of the Republican challenger, Clay Aiken has said he's maturing his campaign is going to fight the noise of the far-right.
This time, Aiken is working to make sure that name recognition and a ground to stand on will be key to winning this round.
Given that the Republicans are thirsty for a takeback of Congress, the party of insurrection and white nationalism will try to taint Aiken as a "celebrity" trying to tell regular folks in North Carolina how to live.
The shameless hypocrisy is always there. They nominated a former reality television star with no political experience. Yet, they have the audacity to go after entertainers who want to change the norms.
They did it to Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-NY), a lawyer and former rapper known as AD The Voice.
They will do it to Aiken.
Can you believe it's been almost 20 years since I first got to share my voice with you? That's a long time. A LOT has changed!
We need powerful voices more than ever, so I'm running for Congress.
He is competing for the 6th Congressional District.
"These days my life looks a lot like yours than Justin Bieber's. But one thing that never changed for me is how much I love my home state. North Carolina is the place where I first discovered I had a voice, and it was a voice that could be used for more than singing."
Aiken is running on progressive policies of political civility, including issues like income equality, health care and climate change.
"We, as levelheaded, open minded and compassionate Democrats, we have always been the party of All Americans," Aiken added. "We have always been the big tent and we've got to continue to be that, because from stopping climate change and systemic racism and income inequality and gun violence to securing voting rights and free healthcare and a woman's right to choose, we are the ones who are gonna solve the country's biggest problems."
