Even a U.S. Representative is a victim of a violent crime. The four suspects were nabbed and of course, the far-right are doing their usual song and dance about criminality. The same folks who refuse to acknowledge the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol are screaming about crime in the country.

Five people were arrested hours after Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon (D-PA) was carjacked at gunpoint in South Philadelphia.

Scanlon, 62, was walking back to her parked car, an Acura MDX, at FDR Park around 2:45 p.m. Wednesday when she was approached by two armed men who demanded that she hand over her keys and other belongings, including her personal cellphone, federal cellphone and ID.

One of the men then drove off in her car while the other fled in a dark SUV. Scanlon was not physically harmed during the incident.

“I am relieved that Congresswoman Scanlon was not physically injured, and my thoughts are with her during this difficult time,” Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said in a statement, vowing that police would provide any support needed.

Wednesday night, the FBI tracked Scanlon's stolen vehicle. State Police found the car in front of Edge Fitness on 2800 Fashion Center Boulevard in Newark, Delaware. Police also arrested four men and a woman who were inside the vehicle. They have not yet revealed what charges the five people will face.

Mayor Jim Kenney said he was “appalled to learn of this violent crime” against the congresswoman, whom he described as his friend and colleague.

“My thoughts are with her during what I’m sure is a traumatic time,” he said in a Twitter post.

“Everyone deserves to feel safe in our city, and sadly that hasn’t always been the case this year,” Kenney said. “It’s disheartening and infuriating that criminals feel emboldened to commit such a reckless crime in the middle of the day in what should be a place of peace—one of our city’s parks.”

Anthony Giordano, a South Philly resident who runs two community groups, told NBC10 Philadelphia there was another attempted carjacking at 11th and Porter streets earlier on Wednesday.

"Hopefully now that a congresswoman was carjacked it brings national attention to Philadelphia and something needs to be done," Giordano said.

Scanlon's vehicle was found in Delaware.

City Councilmember Kenyatta Johnson, who represents the 2nd District covering parts of South Philly, told NBC10 his constituents feel the city is in a state of lawlessness.

"The individuals were carrying guns and so we’re thankful she wasn’t harmed but the level of gun violence and carjackings is totally unacceptable," Johnson said.

Johnson also said his constituents want support from both government and the community.

"Most importantly increasing public safety and making sure the perps are arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," he said.

Since 2019, Scanlon has represented the 5th District, which covers all of Delaware County, part of Chester County, a small portion of southern Montgomery County and a section of South Philadelphia. 

Scanlon's office said she expressed gratitude to city police for their quick response and to her local police department and the Sergeant at Arms in Washington for working with Philadelphia police “to ensure her continued safety.”

The suspects are facing a federal sandwich. Threatening and assaulting a federal worker is 20 years in the iron college. The suspects also took federal equipment. That's already five years in. The state charges in Pennsylvania and Delaware are assured 20 years. They face up 50 years in either federal time out or the iron college. Some of the suspects are underage so they could face adult charges if the state throws the book at them.

The suspects are innocent until to proven guilty in a court of law.

The House Majority Whip has tested positive for the coronavirus. Thankfully, he's vaccinated.

South Carolina lawmaker and kingmaker, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) confirmed he has the coronavirus after seeing President Joe Biden last week. He said that he is asymptomatic and fully vaccinate.

"America is in a new phase of this pandemic," he said. "No one is immune to this virus. I urge anyone who has not done so to get their vaccines and boosters. It is the best protection against severe disease and possible death."

Clyburn met with Biden on Friday when the president traveled to South Carolina to speak to the graduates of South Carolina State University, his alma mater. Clyburn graduated in December.

The lawmaker is working behind the scenes with Sen. Karen Manchin (D-WV) and Sen. Karen Sinema (D-AZ). Clyburn has been more of the behind the scenes kind of lawmaker. He has more impact on getting these two white nationalist Democrats on the team. 

Clyburn had a strong impact in the Ohio special election. He endorsed the underdog in the race and faced a slew of attacks from leftists. The leftists picked bombastic agitator Nina Turner. The opponent and eventual winner Shontel Brown was Clyburn's pick. 

Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH) now is a sitting House member and Turner is still the agitator still bitter over losing two high profile races.

The president has tested negative for the coronavirus. 

Clyburn has been Biden's best defense.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki who tested positive in October has confirmed that the president, Vice President Kamala Harris, First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff are being tested regularly.

If only Americans got vaccinated, we would have been back to normal by July. Alas, they wanna fuck around and now they're going to find out.

Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.

President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.

But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war. 

With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.

The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.

Pathetic.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

The former Brooklyn Center police officer was found guilty of first and second degree criminal manslaughter. The woman shot and killed Daunte Wright in April 2021. 

The murderer admitted that she profiled Wright during the traffic stop and didn't properly use de-escalation tactics to prevent the death of the young man.

Now she is facing up to 40 years in the iron college.

Justice for Daunte.

The former cop's words "I'm going to prison...." was the nail in the coffin. Due to the fact, she did not render aid, she didn't properly use her Taser and her trying to place the blame on the victim, it doomed her.

Yeah, it was an accident. But there's consequences. And the jury had to come to conclusion that the murderer had reasonable been negligent in killing Wright.

The father of one was pulled over for expired tags. As they ran his plates, they found out he was wanted on a bench warrant. When they were trying to arrest him, he struggled and tried to enter his vehicle.

The murderer would grab her firearm and yell, "Taser, Taser, Taser!" before shooting Wright in the chest.

The fatal encounter. The murderer mistaken her firearm as a Taser.

Wright along with his girlfriend would flee a block down the road and end up crashing into a vehicle and later a tree. The murderer would scream, "I killed him....I'm going to prison." 

Prosecutors filed a notice with the court in October stating their intention to seek a longer prison term than recommended by the guidelines. They did not specify how much time they would seek.

Prosecutors hope to prove two "aggravating factors" they believe would support a longer prison term.

Daunte's mother got justice.

"Defendant's conduct caused a greater-than-normal danger to the safety of other people, as she fired into a motor vehicle in which a passenger was present and two other officers were in close proximity while the vehicle was operational on a busy public street," prosecutors wrote in their filing.

The second factor, prosecutors wrote, was the murderer was abusing her position of authority as a police officer. Hennepin County District Judge Regina Chu, not jurors, will decide whether aggravating factors exist.

The jury was nearly deadlocked in the decision. The jurors mostly white had to figure out whether Wright's actions merrited use of force or did the murderer practice in reckless behavior.

The murderer showed little emotion with her gaze cast downward as Judge Regina Chu read the guilty verdicts for first- and second-degree manslaughter. Her attorneys placed their hands on either of her shoulders.

At the conclusion of the hearing, the murderer's $100,000 bail was revoked and she was taken into custody by deputies. As she was handcuffed, her attorneys hugged her. "Love you, Kim," a man's voice could be heard saying.

Daunte's father said that if his son was white, he wouldn't been dead.

The murderer's attorneys, Paul Engh and Earl Gray, argued that she remain free pending sentencing on Feb. 18, saying she was not a flight risk, was convicted of an accident, and citing the impending Christmas holiday.

"She's not going to run, she's obviously not going to commit any more crimes," Gray said. "She's been convicted of an accident, she's been convicted of being reckless."

Chu said that she must revoke the murderer's bail because the conviction entails a presumptive prison sentence.

"I recognize your arguments, Mr. Engh and Mr. Gray, but I cannot treat this case any differently than any other case," Chu said.

The jury of six women and six men reached their verdicts after receiving the case at 12:45 p.m. Monday. They convicted murderer of one count each of first- and second-degree manslaughter for killing Wright during an April 11 traffic stop.

The crocodile tears didn't sway the jury.

The murderer's defense argued that she had the legal right to use a Taser or deadly force in the form of a gun because Wright resisted arrest and put officers' lives at risk. They told jurors that the murderer, 49, meant to use her Taser when she fired her handgun once into Wright's chest, and that her mistake was not a crime. Wright contributed to his own death by using marijuana and resisting arrest, the murderer's defense argued.

Prosecutors argued that the murderer acted recklessly and negligently. They told jurors that she received copious training during her 26-year career and should have known better, and that even deploying a Taser was inappropriate for the situation due to the risks it posed to others. Prosecutors meticulously walked through the differences between the murderer's Taser and handgun at trial, and encouraged jurors in their closing arguments Monday to handle the deactivated weapons during deliberations.

Rep. Karen Perry (R-PA) is being subpoenaed by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 riots and insurrection.

The Republican member is saying he is not planning on testifying.

Perry, a member of the House Freedom Caucus, was the first known lawmaker to whom the panel had reached out to talk for its investigation. His response raises the question of whether the committee will now move to subpoena a fellow House member, a step that would dramatically escalate political tensions between the panel and Republicans who have warned that targeting GOP lawmakers is a bridge too far.

"I stand with immense respect for our Constitution, the Rule of Law, and the Americans I represent who know that this entity is illegitimate, and not duly constituted under the rules of the US House of Representatives," Perry wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "I decline this entity's request and will continue to fight the failures of the radical Left who desperately seek distraction from their abject failures of crushing inflation, a humiliating surrender in Afghanistan, and the horrendous crisis they created at our border."

In response, the committee condemned Perry but stopped short of saying if it would issue a subpoena to the Republican lawmaker.

"Representative Perry has information directly relevant to our investigation. While he says that he respects the Constitution and Rule of Law, he fails to note that multiple federal courts, acting pursuant to Article 3 of our Constitution, have already rejected the former President's claims that the committee lacks an appropriate legislative purpose," a Select Committee spokesperson said in a statement Tuesday, responding to Perry saying he would not agree to a meeting.

"The Select Committee prefers to gather relevant evidence from members cooperatively, but if members with directly relevant information decline to cooperate and instead endeavor to cover up, the Select Committee will consider seeking such information using other tools," the spokesperson added.

The statement does not explicitly mention whether a subpoena could be coming for Perry but also does not rule out that possibility.

The committee asked the congressman to speak with them voluntarily on Monday.

"At this time, the Select Committee seeks your voluntary cooperation," wrote Democratic Rep. Bennie Thompson of Mississippi, who chairs the committee.

The letter, released Monday, marks a significant step in the investigation and underscores how the panel is zeroing in on Washed Up 45's closest allies on Capitol Hill.

In the letter, the committee said it wants to discuss Perry's attempted effort to install former Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark as acting attorney general.

"We have received evidence from multiple witnesses that you had an important role in the efforts to install Mr. Clark as acting Attorney General," Thompson said in the letter.

Thompson added that then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen and then-acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue, who have both been interviewed by the committee, "have provided evidence regarding these issues, and we have received evidence that others who worked with Mr. Clark were aware of these plans."

The committee in its letter tells Perry that Clark, whom the panel has begun criminal contempt proceedings against but has been given a second chance to come in and plead the Fifth Amendment, is aware that the committee is planning to ask him about his interactions with Perry.

The letter to Perry also states that the committee is aware of "multiple text and other communications" with Washed Up 45's former chief of staff Karen Meadows, including evidence that the pair communicated over the encrypted app called Signal.

Addressing Perry's role in spreading misinformation about the 2020 presidential election directly, the committee writes in its letter that it is aware that the Pennsylvania lawmaker communicated with the White House about a variety of topics including "allegations that the Dominion voting machines had been corrupted."

The committee proposed scheduling a meeting with Perry on either December 28, December 29, January 3, January 4 or the week of January 10, when the House returns to session. The committee also suggested this meeting could be held in Perry's home district if that accommodation works better. In addition to an interview, the committee had also requested that Perry turn over all relevant documents and communication related to January 6.

Rep. Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA) is the latest member of the House Democrats to announce retirement.

With a five seat majority in the House and a equally split Senate, the Democrats are fearing that the Republicans could win back Congress. The Republicans are running on culture wars, denouncing the election results and inflation.

They refuse to help the president in passing legislation. They still don't recognize him as the President of the United States despite the electoral college giving him the win against Washed Up 45.

Roybal-Allard is leaving the circus. It offers California an opportunity to redraw the district. The state lost a congressional district. She and Rep. Karen Nunes (R-CA) are the latest from the state to retire or resign from office.

The congresswoman called representing 40th Congressional District constituents "the single most distinguished honor of (her) life" in a statement announcing her decision.

"After thirty years in the House of Representatives, the time has come for me to spend more time with my family. Therefore, I have decided not to seek reelection," Roybal-Allard said.

The California congresswoman is chairwoman of the House Homeland Security Appropriations subcommittee -- the first Latina to do so. Roybal-Allard was also the first Mexican American woman elected to Congress and the first Latina to ever serve on the Appropriations Committee, according to her statement.

Her work in Congress has included pushing to create a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who came to the US as children.

Roybal-Allard's announcement comes the same day fellow Democratic Rep. Stephanie Murphy announced she would not seek reelection to her Florida seat. Many congressional Democrats have announced retirements amid districts being redrawn and a growing consensus that the upcoming midterms are going to be a tough fight for the party.

Democratic candidate Nicole Lopez, who is vying for the 40th Congressional District seat, tweeted Monday, "It's never easy being the first, but you did it with grit and grace. You have been — and continue to be — an inspiration to Latinas like me, who admire you and hope to follow in your footsteps."

Roybal-Allard said she looks "forward to continue to work for the people of my district in the new year and long after I leave public office."

The spread of the delta and omicron variants have put the country at risk. Many of the unvaccinated are gambling with their lives and the lives of those who are vaccinated. Even if you're getting both shots, the booster and are practicing in social distancing and wearing a mask, you're still getting it.

The breakthrough cases are surging, the unvaccinated are clogging up hospitals. The junk food media is trying to blame President Joe Biden. How can you blame the president when millions of Americans refuse to follow the CDC guidelines?

Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-NY) joins the list of many vaccinated lawmakers who tested positive for the coronavirus.

He joins Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), Rep. Karen Malliotakis (R-NY), Rep. Jason Crow (D-CO), Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-PA), Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) in testing positive for the coronavirus.

The 44-year old lawmaker is one of the many Democrats who could face a challenge from Republicans thanks to the far-left's noise. Delgado is a moderate Black lawmaker. He's not a fire starter like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) or Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO). He's not an activist, he's a lawmaker.

He was known as rapper AD The Voice.

That's why it's important to have more lawmakers like Rep. Antonio Delgado (D-NY), Rep. Lucy McBath (D-GA), Rep. Lauren Underwood (D-IL) and Rep. Shontel Brown (D-OH).

They relate to the Black community.

The lawmaker released a statement on testing positive.

"Yesterday, I tested positive for COVID-19 and am currently experiencing mild symptoms," he said in a statement. "I'm grateful for the protection of a safe and effective vaccine and booster and encourage all who are able to get both."

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) got the coronavirus.

The spread of the coronavirus has surged once again in the United States. We're getting close to 850,000 Americans dead from the coronavirus. As of present time, 835,000 Americans dead.

One of the White House staffers tested positive for the coronavirus. The person was near the president for over 30 minutes. Now the president is getting regular testing. 

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, who tested positive in late October had confirmed that the president is getting regular testing. She like many of those who tested positive have said that they're blessed that they got vaccinated. The symptoms are mild compared to those who aren't vaccinated.

If only Americans got vaccinated, we would have been back to normal by July. Alas, they wanna fuck around and now they're going to find out.

Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.

President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.

But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war. 

With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.

The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.

Pathetic.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about your business, your performances, your personal finances and travel. It doesn't care about the funerals, the birthday parties, the weddings, the vacations, the events and your graduations. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!
