Civil rights leader and former supporter of Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I-VT) two failed presidential bids has tested positive for the coronavirus. The Rev. Jesse Jackson, a pioneering civil rights leader,  former 1984 and 1988 Democratic candidate for president is hospitalized in Chicago as well as his wife Jacqueline. The risk increases since he has Parkinson's disease.

The news broke over the past hour. The civil rights leader is father to his son former Illinois Democratic congressman Jesse Jackson, Jr. and progressive agitator Santita Jackson. He is the father of five from Jacqueline and a daughter from his former mistress Karin Stanford. 

Jackson is a flawed man. He is a man of good conscience but a history of controversial remarks and support of leftists. He once referred to the Jewish community's controversial support of Israel as a bunch of Hymie and the Hymietown remarks sunk his bids.

Jackson despite having Parkinson's and walking with a cane still keeps the motivation for civil rights.

He is often vilified by the far right for being a racial arsonist and political grifter. Jackson saw a strong showing among African Americans in 1988. He was one of the few Black presidential  candidates taken seriously. Before Barack Obama, it was Jesse. 

Jackson also has a minor feud with Obama. He once said he would "cut his nuts off" after the 2008 candidate was reaching out to faith-based Blacks but ignored him.

He was 26 when he witnessed the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. In 1968.

Jackson, 79, is vaccinated against the virus and received his first dose in January during a publicized event as he urged others to receive the inoculation as soon as possible. He and his wife, 77, are being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.

“Doctors are currently monitoring the condition of both,” according to the statement from Jesse Jackson’s nonprofit, the Rainbow/PUSH Coalition.

“There are no further updates at this time,” the statement said. “We will provide updates as they become available.”

A protégé of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jesse Jackson was key in guiding the modern civil rights movement on numerous issues, including voting rights.

Jackson urged Blacks to get vaccinated.

Despite having been diagnosed for Parkinson’s disease, Jackson has remained active, and has advocated for COVID-19 vaccines for Black people, who lag behind white people in the United States’ vaccination drive. Earlier this month, he was arrested outside the U.S. Capitol during a demonstration calling for Congress to end the filibuster in order to support voting rights.

Although the coronavirus vaccines can prevent transmission and hospitalization, the virulent Delta variant has been the source of a small proportion of "breakthrough" cases that can affect older and immunocompromised people.

Of course, there's folks who are fully vaccinated but end up getting the coronavirus. As with vaccines, nothing is 100%. The vaccines are capable of preventing the coronavirus. At best, it's a 94% prevention rate which means 1 out of 500 could be infected even if they're vaccinated.

President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.

But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war. 

With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.

The Republicans are so devoted to destroying Biden and the country for what....to regain power.

According to the CDC, there is still not enough information on antibodies for COVID-19 and whether they can prevent someone from getting reinfected. It still recommends that people with a positive antibody test follow recommendations for protecting themselves and others.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

A teacher is facing heat for her racist rant. Guess what state?

The teacher comes from Florida. 

A white schoolteacher in Florida has allegedly been terrorizing her neighborhood with racist rants targeting children who try to use a walking path near her house.

The woman driving a Mercedes Benz was caught on video Sunday in the Kings Lake neighborhood of Naples calling a woman "white trash," and referring to her children as "mulattos" and "half-breeds."

"Neighbors said over the past several years, the woman has made it her mission to guard her property and a walking path, which has a sign indicating it's for Kings Lake residents only," according to the local NBC affiliate, which did not identify the woman but reported that she works as a teacher in the Collier County School District.

Social media quickly found out that this woman worked for Collier County schools. She was fired out the cannon shortly after the video went viral.

A mother told the station she was walking the path, which leads to a pond, with her children on Sunday when the woman stopped her Mercedes in the middle of the street, rolled down her window and began yelling at them.

"Did you pay for that path? You can't afford to live in Kings Lake. You're white trash!" the woman can be heard screaming in the video. "Are those your mulatto kids? Did you have sex with a Black guy? Your kids are half-breeds, look at them."

Another mother in the community told the station that earlier this year, the woman yelled at her 8-year-old bi-racial foster son, who suffers from PTSD. "It made me incredibly angry for sure. I think she specifically targets kids," the mother said.

Neighbors refer to the woman as "Kings Lake Karen." Her property is adorned by flags with middle fingers and profanities, along with no trespassing and surveillance camera warnings.

"She's just appointed herself the bridge troll of that little stretch of property," one person said.

"She wants to know who they are, where they live, and has no problems telling them where to go," neighbor John Courtwright said of people using the path.

Neighbor Douglas Rankin added: "If she's terrorizing people in her car now, where's it got to go before they do something? Somebody's going to get hurt."

According to the station's report, the woman's neighbors "just want peace," and the Collier County School District is reviewing the video from the most recent incident.

Usually, I would be angered by the fact a cop walks in the murder of an unarmed civilian. But in this case, I am reserving my thoughts. The woman who broke into the U.S. Capitol and got near the bubble was shot in the neck and died of her injuries.

The U.S. Capitol Police and Department of Justice cleared the cop and he will continue to work.

The far-right is upset over the decision. Now they're making baseless comparisons to George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other lives lost to police violence.

1. George Floyd was accused of passing a bad $20 dollar bill. The dirty cop placed his knee on his neck while he was arrested. He refused to get his knee of his neck. He died of a suffocation. The movement that sparked the calls for police reform were ignored by this woman. This woman literally attacked him, Breonna Taylor and Vice President Kamala Harris.

2. Breonna Taylor was a victim of a shooting by the Louisville Metro Police. They got bad information on the whereabouts of another guy. Kenneth Walker didn't know who broke into his home. All he knew it was intruders. He fired a warning shot. They came guns ablazing. Taylor was struck over eight times while in her bedroom. She died of her injuries. These cops walked but eventually saw cannon fire. She was a first responder like that woman who broke into the Capitol. Taylor wouldn't be bold enough to travel to Washington, DC to protest an election outcome and run on the notion that the results were rigged. She wouldn't be marching into a restricted area in the middle of a pandemic. She would be breaking into a building on the guise of saying it's "our freedom" to do so. 

3. George Floyd and Breonna Taylor would be alive today if the cops didn't use deadly force. This woman would be alive if she didn't try to penetrate the bubble. The bubble held either former vice president Karen M. Pence and Nancy Pelosi. She gambled with the notion that the cops would cower because she's a protester. No. 

The death of this woman is a topic among the far-right. They believe that the cop should be criminally charged for murdering her. 

This woman lived in California and owned a pool cleaning service. She was former military officer. 

Folks in San Diego thought she was a big wound up over politics. Some folks cancelled their contracts because of her extreme views on America.

She like thousands of others traveled to the "Stop The Steal" rally in Washington, DC. 

Washed Up 45 whipped up the crowd with the notion that he'll walk with the crowd down to the Capitol to convince Republicans who supported moving on to change their minds. That included his former vice president. 

They went to the Capitol breached the gates and started pummeling police, media figures and those who they perceived to be Antifa or Black Lives Matter.

They caused millions of dollars worth of damage. Three of the individuals in the riot died of natural causes and officer Brian Sicknick was dismissed by the Blue Lives Matter crowd.

Woman was indoctrinated by conspiracy theories.

The officer, whose name has not been released, opened fire on the woman as she and a mob of other Washed Up 45 supporters tried to forcefully enter the Capitol.

Video of the shooting showed the woman in front of a crowd of rioters trying to get through a door leading to where members of Congress were being evacuated on the House side of the building.

The Justice Department announced in April that no charges were being brought against the officer. The exoneration by the Capitol Police wraps up the last remaining investigation into the incident.

A memo from the commander of the Capitol Police’s Office of Personal Responsibility says “no further action will be taken in this matter” after the officer was exonerated for use of force.

Does Ashli Babbitt deserve justice?

The Capitol Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment. A lawyer for the woman's family declined to comment.

In its statement in April, the Justice Department said that the investigation did not find evidence that the officer had violated any federal laws and that there was nothing to contradict that he believed it was necessary to shoot at the 35-year old woman "in self-defense or in defense of the Members of Congress and others evacuating the House Chamber."

Washed Up 45 has been promoting the woman's death. He literally is blaming the police.

"Officials examined video footage posted on social media, statements from the officer involved and other officers and witnesses to the events, physical evidence from the scene of the shooting, and the results of an autopsy," and "based on that investigation, officials determined that there is insufficient evidence to support a criminal prosecution," the statement added.

The woman's death has been promoted as an unjust killing by some on the far right who have sought to downplay the violence at the storming of the Capitol, and they have demanded that the identity of the shooter be publicly released. Rep. Karen Gosar (R-AZ) has said the woman's death was "an execution," and he accused the officer who shot her of "lying in wait" to do so.

Washed Up 45 previously made the false claim that the officer who shot the woman was the "head of security" for a "high-ranking" Democratic member of Congress.

It never happens in your community....... Until it does! Every community in the United States will eventually have a legacy. A legacy of tragedy. Gun violence and COVID-19 will affect your town, your family and your life. So I don't want to hear that bullshit about how this gun reform is taking away your rights. I don't want to hear that protesting against police killing people of color is hate on cops in general. I don't want to hear talk about the coronavirus being a myth. I don't want hear folks say this is not white privilege. I don't want to hear folks say masks impede their freedoms. I don't want to hear the shit about guns saving lives. These incidents are a tragic part of American history.

Does the folks in Georgia's 14th Congressional District know what their lawmaker does for them?

Apparently, only seven months in the Congress and she's testing the waters for 2024. 

Rep. Idiot Karen Greene (R-GA) along with a hodge podge of Republican idiots head to the Iowa State Fair to test the waters for a potential presidential run.

Greene is looking for a place on the 2024 ballot for president.

For one, this conspiracy nut is not allow to hold a committee. Second, she has not delivered to the folks in the 14th Congressional District. Mind you if a natural disaster happens in the district or an issue comes up, guess who'll be the first to ask the federal government and President Joe Biden for assistance?

She and Rep. Karen Gaetz (R-FL) are running around the country with this "America First" grift.

She raised eyebrows when she was doing more than her workout. She did a verbal tongue lashing.

In homage to the washed up politician and bad faith actress Nina Turner, Greene called the president a "piece of shit" on a far-right social media platform.

She is under review with Twitter. 

Twitter had suspended her personal account twice this year and are considering banning her indefinitely. Her federal account which is mandated to constituents will be controlled to prevent misinformation to spread.

Greene, one of just 16 GOP lawmakers who last month voted against increasing the number of visas for Afghans who helped U.S. troops, posted the video on Gettr, a site operated by a dead beat father and serial sexual predator who was former aide to Washed Up 45. Gettr has failed to gain much attention in the month since it launched and analysis this week shows its growth has already stalled.

It is also a haven for jihadist content and child abuse imagery. Greene, who has a verified account on the platform with 225,000 followers, posted the video on Wednesday evening and it has already been liked over 3,000 times and reposted over 1,000 times.

But the more than 400 comments under the video show just how divisive a figure Greene has become.

The comments range from “You speak for America,” and “ Thank you MTG you are a bad ass and a patriot and you speak truth to power. Joe Biden the worst president ever in American history,” to “you’re a disgusting vile ignorant inbred piece of shit marge from every normal person, worldwide.”

Greene has been using the unfolding horror in Afghanistan as leverage to suggest increased gun rights for Americans, referencing reports that the Taliban has seized huge caches of weapons from the Afghan army which were paid for by the U.S. 

“Anytime any Democrat ever speaks to America about gun control again, and they want to talk to you about your AR-15, you tell them right now how many weapons and how many semi-automatic weapons did you hand over to terrorists in Afghanistan, to the Taliban, ISIS and possible Al-Qaeda before you ever talk to Americans about gun control,” Greene told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon on his podcast on Monday.

And never one to miss an opportunity to file articles of impeachment against a sitting president, Greene also told Bannon she is planning to file new papers against Biden for his handling of the Afghanistan situation.

"I have my team right now working on articles of impeachment," Greene told Bannon. "Because I'm so disgusted with Joe Biden. You know I've already filed one set of articles of impeachment. But his failure as a president is unspeakable."

The idiot lost to Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) in a race that favored Republicans. He ended up being elected as the state treasurer. He tried to run a rematch against Brown only to bow out after a picture of him in a drag rubbing on a guy surfaced. He called it a personal matter and resigned as state treasurer. The Republicans let the scarficial lamb, Karen Renacci blow up.

Now as Karen Portman decides to head back to Lebanon, Ohio to wash the stain of orange off his mouth, the Republicans are scrambling for a candidate that could win a Washed Up 45 endorsement.

Mandel, visited Inside the Five Brewing Co. in Perrysburg, where he encountered the woman. In a tweet posted to his account, Mandel praised her for coming in despite not feeling well to help the short-staffed establishment.

The worker mentioned that her voice sounded nasally from a cold, restaurant management said, and she has been instructed to not return to work until she has been tested. Management further said that employees are instructed to never come to work with any symptoms of an illness and that the brewpub is strict with health protocols.

The brewery issued a statement to local station WTOL 11 on Friday afternoon:

"This is so disappointing. Last week we sent a message to our staff saying that they should report any symptoms, big or small, to a manager, and not come to work. And no one should just assume it’s allergies or a cold. Although our server's intentions were good, it was not the right decision and it will be addressed. Yes, we are short-staffed, but would close our doors before we put anyone at risk. The employee has since been sent home.”

Republican freedumb puts a business in the crosshairs of a health inspector and public shaming.

Reaction to Mandel's tweet was overwhelmingly negative. WTOL 11 has reached out to his campaign for further comment. 

According to data from the CDC, Wood County is experiencing "high" COVID-19 transmission, meaning there are more than 100 new cases in the past seven days per 100,000 people.  

Inside the Five has COVID-19 precautions and regular health and safety protocols in place inside the establishment. Records show it has not been issued any COVID-related violations during the pandemic.

Mandel posted a video in June to his Twitter account of him lighting a mask on fire with the caption "FREEDOM." This week, he responded to a reporter's question about getting children vaccinated against COVID-19 by saying the question was "immoral" and "unethical.

President Joe Biden had hopes that Americans would take this shit seriously. Unfortunately, Republicans so fucking eager to return to power will keep Americans fixated on the culture wars. Now vaccinations are part of this culture war.

But those fighting the culture war by not vaccinating, not wearing face mask in public, not following protocols, and deliberately ignoring federal and international rules when traveling are going to be the first casualties of the war. 

With this pandemic mostly affecting states where Republican governors are, we may have to return to wearing facial protection and cutting back services to reduce the spread of the coronavirus.

We came so far only to have a bunch of selfish idiots set it back. Just because they hate President Joe Biden.

According to the CDC, there is still not enough information on antibodies for COVID-19 and whether they can prevent someone from getting reinfected. It still recommends that people with a positive antibody test follow recommendations for protecting themselves and others.

The coronavirus doesn't care about your age, race, gender, sexuality, nationality, religion, politics, economic or social standings. It doesn't care about anything. It's a living organism that causes mild symptoms that include: fever, sore throats, chills, respiratory issues, loss of taste or smell and other unknown symptoms. If you have a weak immune system or health issues, your risk increases.

Death does happen to at least 40% of those who are affected by COVID-19. 

If you're not vaccinated, your chances of death increases to 48%.

Healthy people can die from this. Take this seriously. You only have one life!

The proposed routing of Interstate 49 goes through Allendale, a prominent Black neighborhood.

Interstate 49 is a part of this intercontinental transportation corridor which connects the United States, Mexico and Canada. The USMCA agreement compromised by Washed Up 45, Justin Trudeau and Enrique Peña Nieto is a retooling of the NAFTA agreement signed by the three countries in the 1990s.

The USMCA agreement allocates a transportation corridor. Interstate 49 is a part of this. It was established as an interstate in 1984. It wasn't supposed to be part of the system but the lawmakers in Washington wanted to build a relationship with our neighbors to the north with trade.

As the highway is being built in phases, the expected routing will go from New Orleans to Kansas City.

The states that cover Interstate 49 are Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Missouri. The original segment was in the state of Louisiana. The highway started from Lafayette and traveled northwest towards Alexandria and ended in Shreveport.

Strong opposition continues with the Interstate 49 proposal.

Since 2012, the interstate has been extended. In Missouri, they upgrade the U.S. 71 highway to freeway and later interstate standards. The interstate is still being worked on with two segments still in the works. By 2022, Interstate 49 will eventually start from the Interstate 29, 35 and 70 junction in Kansas City and travels due south towards Carthage and near Joplin. It will head towards the Missouri-Arkansas border where it will connect via the Bella Vista bypass. Interstate 49 replaced Interstate 540 as the main thoroughfare in Northwestern Arkansas. It temporarily ends at Interstate 40. It then has a partial segment in Fort Smith which carries the freeway for at least four miles. The Arkansas Department of Transportation is hoping to get funding for the bridge over the Arkansas River. For the time being, the southern segment of Interstate 49 ends at the highway junction of U.S. 59 and U.S. 71 at the Arkansas-Texas border. The highway if built will travel at least seven miles into Texas before returning into Arkansas.

Then from Texarkana it travels to Shreveport where it temporarily ends at Interstate 220. 

The controversy lies with the route Interstate 49 is expected to travel. It will be going into a historical Black neighborhood called Allendale. The residents of Allendale are protesting the route.

The I-49 Inner-City Connector has been discussed for decades and is expected to reach a whole new level of interest in 2021.

"As we near a record of decision, we thought it was important to build some enthusiasm and momentum in the community," said Timothy Magner, Greater Shreveport Chamber of Commerce president.

Advertising agencies are hired, media and awareness campaigns are starting as the record of decision nears and marks the final step on if and when the approximately 3.2-mile connector will be built and where.

"It will actually link I-10, I-20 and I-30 through Louisiana. That is a huge opportunity for us regionally as a transportation and distribution hub. It also opens up other parts of our downtown area to development," said Magner.

Some in the business community said there will be hundreds of millions of dollars of positive impact to the area if it's built. 

Others, who live in the Allendale neighborhood of Shreveport are strongly against it being built there and they're doing everything they can to stop it.

"We don't want it to come through any community or any part of the community because there is going to be some pitting of the neighbors against each other, so we want to keep this out of the community," said Dorthy Wiley, president of Allendale Strong.

"Everybody who lives in that neighborhood is highly motivated to stay right there. Well, of course, that's where the Committee of 100 thinks we need a 1950's style inner city connector," said John Perkins, media advisor to Allendale Strong.

The folks with Allendale Strong would prefer a route they are calling a business boulevard be built that would connect with North Market Street and go up to Interstate 220.

"Let's start a business boulevard, $60 million. Lets get that started and if a freeway comes through, which will cost about $900 million, maybe a billion dollars once it comes through, then do that. But don't put it through our community," said Wiley.

Northwest Louisiana Council of Governments Executive Director Kent Rogers said the group is continuing to move forward and trying to keep the public informed.

"We do have a $100 million that was dedicated by the state in a previous appropriation. So the state match dollars are there and once the record of decision is in hand, we will be going to the federal government for the balance of the funds that are necessary to build the project," said Magner.

The federal government will play a large role in what happens here and Allendale Strong thinks the Biden administration will be on their side.

"We have a new secretary of transportation coming in Pete Buttigieg and he's already saying no more freeways to be built in Black and brown communities," said Wiley.

After decades of studies and meetings and discussions for and against, the record of decision is expected late this year or early 2022.

The feasible solution to fixing the problem is to have Interstate 49 run concurrent with Interstate 220 and replace Louisiana Route 3132 the Interloop Expressway. The current segment of Interstate 49 heading to downtown Shreveport should be labeled Interstate 149 or Interstate 249.
