David Joyner: Barney Was Iconic!

The junk food media got in touch with David Joyner, the man behind the big purple dinosaur. Joyner now opens the secrets to his success by revealing that he was the man who played Barney. Not the voice, but the dinosaur.

The person who played the dinosaur is talking and sharing his next chapter.

Barney the Dinosaur was a popular PBS character. I used to loathe that show.

Joyner loved the show. Especially when saw them digits in the paycheck. He would make a 6 figure check putting on a 70 lb costume that got extremely hot. He had to be timed to move his body to accompany the voice actor Bob West.

West was the voice of Barney.

Joyner has no regrets about being Barney. He also a role in other television shows. In acting, he appeared on That's 70s Show, ER, 24 and The Young and the Restless.

He also dons another costume. He is the guy who play s Hip-Hop Harry.

"I'm 53 years old. And I am not ashamed to admit that I am 53 years old, still playing in costumes," he told People magazine.

"Barney was beautiful," he said. "Barney was very, very good to me. I love being Barney. I loved everything about Barney. But that chapter is gone."

Barney & Friends was a smash hit with toddlers to pre-adolescents.

It was on for nearly 20 years and talks about a revival are on the table.
