Regina King Mourns Son's Death!

Regina King's son Ian passed away.

The Oscar-award winning actress' son Ian Alexander passed away. He committed suicide. 

King's only child was only 26 years old. Though King did not detail the cause of her son's death, People Magazine confirmed that he died by suicide shortly after his birthday.

"Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian," King, 51 said in a statement sent to the junk food media.

"He is such as bright light who cared deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asked for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you."

King's son worked as a disc jockey. King's ex-husband, Ian Sr., is a record producer. The couple separated in 2007 and King raised her son as a single parent.

King is best known for her roles in 227, The Boondocks, The Watchman and Southland. Her movie credits include Friday, Poetic Justice, Boyz n the Hood and This Christmas.

King is a comedian, actress, director. She has won an Academy Award, Golden Globe and four Prime Time Emmy Awards.

She was born in Cincinnati but grew up in Los Angeles.
