I'll put it in two words to why Nina Turner lost: Tone Deaf!
The former Ohio state senator Nina Turner has conceded to Shontel Brown. She has lost the special election primary to the Cuyahoga County councilwoman in a test of how far Bernie Sanders' political savvy works.
Turner refused to mention Brown by name in her 15 minute rant about how she lost to dark money and whatever bullshit she threw to the base of white leftists.
My money was good. I donated to Brown's campaign and it was small donations. I made a great investment in a candidate I believe was capable of representing Ohio's 11th Congressional District.
The fact that Turner never mentioned roads, food deserts, Dead Man's Curve (Interstate 90), infrastructure repairs on the Ohio State Route 8 viaduct, reforesting Akron Innerbelt Highway, expanding the RTA line into the southern tier of Cuyahoga County, ending the COVID-19 pandemic, jobs, voting rights and working with President Biden.
All she wanted to do is trash Democrats, promote Medicare for All, call her opponent evil and being funded by corporations. Turner and her insufferable army of trolls kept labeling her opponent as being "bought and paid for." And on top of that she was bragging about millionaires funding her campaign but complained when Brown got her share of the millionaires.
Turner wanted to be the next Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO). Sitting around doing activism and not passing one bill while in office.
Turner's concession was similar to Washed Up 45 when he conceded shortly after the insurrection.
Never graceful, always bitter.
Comparing the Democratic presidential nominee to a bowl of shit was one of the main reasons to why she lost.
She also ignored the grassroots aspect of why Brown won. The councilwoman said it best: "Politics is local and I am as local as it comes." So all the noise about "dark money," "colorism" and "establishment" were also triggers. Calling Black voters the "establishment" was one of the dumbest things Turner ran on.
Black voters aren't the establishment nor is Shontel Brown. She worked her ass off to get this win. The woman barely had national media coverage. Brown was outspent 2 to 1.
Turner overall had $6 million in fundraising. Brown managed to have $3 million in fundraising.
Turner bragged about having a 35-point lead against all the competitors and yet managed to blow it.
Turner wanted to run as a Obama style Democrat.
Really, what happened to Clinton and Biden? They didn't matter to Turner in 2016 and 2020.
When Clinton endorsed Brown for Congress, the leftists trolls online said that it was the "kiss of death" and Turner said that former Secretary of State's endorsement helped her fundraising.
Turner picked a fight with an underdog. Brown did not have the media presence. She barely was covered by national media platforms. Only two weeks going into the election, the junk food media decided to bring her name up and of course run on the "establishment" label and both sides were being negative.
The attacks on Brown started early when leftists publications like The Intercept, Jacobin and Newsweek wrote articles about the Cleveland "corruption" machine. They wanted to tag her to the past sins of the city.

The Intercept ran a post about Brown being involved in "pay for play" tactics. It also wrote about how desperate Brown was to get money to run her campaign. They claim that she was under investigation in which she could go to jail. They also went into saying that Brown's ex-boyfriend and his family got millions in contracts solely by her hand. The tabloid also made a claim that she gave herself a raise all by herself. Not the Cuyahoga County council approval by its president, but the councilwoman herself did it on her own.
Nina Turner decided to bring leftists trolls to the party. When Karen Uygur and Killer Mike decided to pull Bro and call Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) stupid was the nail in the coffin for Turner.
Turner's economic town hall was an all-white event in a predominantly Black district.
Clyburn endorsed Brown and it brought her home.
Clyburn, the number-three Democrat in the House, came to stump on Brown's behalf. Clyburn was lured into the race after rapper Killer Mike at a Turner campaign event described the South Carolina Democrat as "incredibly stupid" to endorse Biden during the 2020 presidential primary, which saved Biden’s campaign in the state. Turner, who was sitting alongside Killer Mike, seemed to agree.
Turner brought in Sanders and others for a get out to vote rally. Only 100 people of the 3,000 attendees actually voted for her. Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez visit were really a turn off to constituents.
Turner was running in a crowded field of 12 candidates. She ran on that bullshit Tulchin poll saying that Brown was no where close to where she was. Turner was determined to make sure she was in the forefront of the race. She got what she wanted.
Turner's campaign was too white. She wanted to appeal to white leftists with slogans. It did not work and thankfully we were quick to stop her from winning.
Brown beaten Turner by at least 6 points.
Brown has been a target of online attacks from white leftists. She didn't have the backing of Talbert Swan, Marc Lamont Hill, Bakari Sellars, Tim Black and the enablers of white leftist bullshit.
Brown is the Democratic nominee going into November. She will face off against a Republican perennial candidate. The fight isn't over until Brown is elected and sworn in as the next U.S. Representative.
So to all of those who read Journal de la Reyna, I want to say thank you for giving Shontel Brown a chance to represent. Brown earned the win and will be a representative not an activist. She isn't trying to be a national figure, she's trying to be a lawmaker.
