The latest police shooting in the United States. Again, a never ending theme here on Journal de la Reyna is the “What Happened To” postings. I often do these postings in regards to the latest incident involving a person of color being either killed by gun or racially motivated violence.
Adam Toledo's mother is distraught over her son being killed by the police.
Everyday, we still see these incidents of people of color being shot and killed by the police. Time after time, law enforcement seem to be never held accountable for shooting Black men and women. It's always the cop's word over the dead body.
I hope that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris work on police reform.
These stories involve police shootings in which people of color are either injured or killed.
Mayor Lori Lightfoot is calling for a complete investigation into whether Chicago Police were justified in using deadly force on a 13-year old boy. The Chicago Police claim that Adam Toledo was armed when they shot and killed him.
His grieving mother said that her son wanted to be a Chicago cop. Now she sees his dream and life shatter by the very people she said he looked up to.
Think about how Tamir Rice felt that day when a Cleveland cop shot him within seconds of exiting his patrol car. The cop who had little experience lied in his report about shooting a boy at close range. The cop and his partner's claims were "they feared for their lives."
Chicago Police won't release the deadly shooting.

Young Latino boy who lived in the Little Village. The Chicago Police confirm that the boy was shot and killed by the law around 2:30am. Their ShotSpotter determined shots were fired in the area of 21st and Sawyer.
The cops arrived and saw two individuals. They ended up running away. One of the cops shot Toledo in the chest and he died at the scene.
They claimed that the armed individual was the victim that died. They said they retrieved a firearm on the scene. The other person who also ran from the law was arrested. The person was charged with misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest.
The officer was placed in the freezer and the Chicago Civilian Office of Police Accountability, the agency that handles police misconduct and officer involved shootings said that they are investigating.
Lightfoot has demanded the police to show the body camera footage.
Officials said an officer shot the person, later identified as Toledo, in the chest. The 13-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
The second person, who police identified as 21-year-old Ruben Roman Jr., was taken into custody.
Despite earlier claims that video would not be made public due to a state law preventing video involving a juvenile from being released without a court order, Chicago's Office of Police Accountability said the law does not in fact prohibit the release of the "troubling footage" showing Toledo's fatal shooting.
Another young life lost to senseless gun violence.
COPA said it will meet with the 13-year-old's family sometime next week to review the body camera footage.
"We're done playing all these antics with COPA and all this," said Little Village resident Enrique Enriquez. “We want that tape played."
It's unclear when the video will be released to the public, but Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown have called for the video's release to ensure transparency and trust. COPA said city policy requires the video to be released within 60 days of the incident.
"We're going to be out here every day until that tape is released," Enriquez said. "The community will not stop, and the family will not stop."
What happens when cops see a person of color with a firearm?
It never happens in your community....... Until it does! Every community in the United States will eventually have a legacy. A legacy of tragedy. Gun violence and COVID-19 will affect your town, your family and your life. So I don't want to hear that bullshit about how this gun reform is taking away your rights. I don't want to hear that protesting against police killing people of color is hate on cops in general. I don't want to hear talk about the coronavirus being a myth. I don't want hear folks say this is not white privilege. I don't want to hear folks say masks impede their freedoms. I don't want to hear the shit about guns saving lives. These incidents are a tragic part of American history.

We haven't forgotten about the many mass shootings in the United States. COVID-19 doesn't stop individuals from picking up firearms and killing others.
The website Officer Down is a memorial to those who were killed in the line of duty. Those who don't get their names mentioned in the junk food media. Also the website the National Gun Violence Memorial also keeps record of the many individuals killed by gun violence.
