Forclosure On The Greene!

The Greene is being foreclosed by the banks.

While the Dayton, Ohio outdoor mall is not closing anytime soon, the bank foreclosure paints a grim outcome for the nearly 20 year old shopping complex The Greene.

I read reports that The Greene, an outdoor lifestyle shopping center in Beavercreek had defaulted on bank loans. In a 330-page complaint filed Friday in Greene County Common Pleas Court, the bank said The Greene Town Center LLC borrowed $137,250,000 on Nov. 22, 2013, from Citigroup Global Markets Realty Corp., a loan that was later transferred to Wells Fargo.

The affluent areas of Beavercreek, Bellbrook, Kettering, Oakwood, Centerville, and Springboro are the core market for the shopping complex.

The co-owner and developer, Steiner + Associates, is known for creating similar town centers such as the Easton Town Center in Columbus as well as other centers in the Cincinnati-Newport, Milwaukee and Kansas City regions.

I don't go to the malls much. I haven't since the pandemic or since my previous employer.

I tend to be more of a homebody and workaholic.

It is a damn shame that all the money going to Israel could be used to help struggling businesses in the United States. Hey, who should be blamed for this?

President Joe Biden, Gov. Mike DeWine, Rep. Mike Turner (R-OH), Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) usually come to mind.

But guessing, some Americans will blame bus riders, shoplifters, young Black teens and online outlets like Amazon for the collapse of malls.

Walmart, Dollar Tree, Rite Aid, Walgreens, CVS and Family Dollar are closing locations left and right. It is a damn shame these companies can build multiple stores, drive small businesses away only to leave after their duration expires.
