Francis Suarez Wants Heat!

Another one runs for Republican nomination.

Miami mayor jumps into the presidential race. That makes three Floridians.

Washed Up 45, Gov. Ron DeSantis and Francis X. Suarez. The moderate Republican mayor from America's vacation city is running a campaign that is different from the two far right assholes.

Suarez wants to win over disgruntled Republicans and even some disgruntled Democrats who feel President Joe Biden is not progressive enough.

“My dad taught me that you get to choose your battles, and I am choosing the biggest one of my life. I’m going to run for president, I’m going to run for your children and mine. Let’s give them the future they deserve. It’s time to take things into our own hands. It’s time to get things started,” Suarez, who filed to run on Wednesday, said in a video released Thursday morning.

Later that night, during a speech at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, Suarez tried to offer an alternative to former President Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis – without mentioning either of his fellow Floridians by name – urging Republicans to unify and reach out to Americans with Reagan’s “big tent” political philosophy.

“It’s time for a leader who can connect with segments of our country that Republicans have historically lost, like young voters and urban voters, and segments we can make gains with, like Hispanics and suburban women,” said Suarez.

However, when asked what his positions are, he runs to the far right and embraces the crazy conspiracy theories and culture wars.

Suarez, a Cuban American, is currently in his second term as mayor of Miami, Florida’s second-most populous city. Until recently, he also served as the president of the bipartisan US Conference of Mayors.

Ahead of his filing, a super PAC supporting Suarez on Wednesday released a two-minute video touting his leadership of the Florida city as he teased a longshot bid for the White House.

“Conservative mayor Francis Suarez chose a better path for Miami,” the video’s narrator says, highlighting his approach to crime and support for law enforcement.

The first major Hispanic candidate to enter the Republican race, Suarez starts off as a decided underdog in the primary, with Trump, a resident of nearby Palm Beach, and DeSantis towering over the field in polling. The primary also includes former Vice President Mike Pence, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

So five candidates are people of color.

Nimrata Randhawa "Nikki" Haley, Tim Scott, Larry Elder, Vivek Ramaswamy and Francis X. Suarez.

Five candidates who vote with white nationalists and seriously believe we are a colorblind nation. Republicans are obsessed with voting bans, book bans, ban on drag shows, bans on transgender youth getting treatment, bans on women reproductive rights and bans on immigration. They are literally running on Hunter Biden, Hillary Clinton, President Biden's health and every conspiracy theory from the fever swamps like Twitter.
