It might be a boss move if this happens but Chris Licht is interested in bring Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski into the CNN roster. They already poached Kasie Hunt from MSNBC and Chris Wallace from Fox.
Licht who recently left The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is now the head of CNN.
He is determined to flip CNN around. He wants less politics, less breaking news alerts and more fact based journalism. He warned staffers to tone down the noise. He said stop using breaking news alerts for issues that are forgotten.
The network is trying to stay focus on hard news and avoid the partisan noise that Fox and MSNBC perform.
Licht was once a producer for Morning Joe. He is secretly talking to them and is hoping to take them from MSNBC.
The genius at work. Chris Licht is trying to turn CNN around. |
This could be a huge shakeup in cable news if he gets them. It would revamp the morning schedule and be a game changer.
With Rachel Maddow reducing her time and many progressives are getting turned off to the noise attacking President Joe Biden, MSNBC is dealing with ratings slip.
MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” debuted in 2007 with Scarborough and Brezezinski serving as co-hosts alongside John Ridley. Scarborough and Brezezinski married in 2018.
“Morning Joe” switched to an expanded four-hour format in April and recently passed its 15-year anniversary on air. Both Scarborough and Brezezinski have contracts running through the end of the year, but are said to be in active negotiations on extensions.
Business Insider reported last fall that the pair had begun early contract discussions with NBC executives regarding their next moves at the network. Puck News reported that Scarborough was seeking $31 million per year from the network for a contract extension.
