Iomikoe Johnson: I'm Happy In My Skin!

Beauty is skin deep.

A 37-year old woman from Lake Charles, Louisiana is done trying to hid her skin. She is literally embracing it.

Iomikoe Johnson, 37 first noticed a spot on her skin at age 25. She thought it was a minor injury but it soon started spreading. The disease was called vitiligo and it was turning her skin completely white.

At some point in her life, she wanted to commit suicide. But after talking to her family and getting endorsement from her fiance and daughter, she said it time to embrace her beauty.

As we are closing out the month of February, I want to take a moment to say that Black History Month is pathetic. To honor Black history in a mere 28 days (29 on a leap year), is not really a dedication to all the achievements of Black America.

Black history is everyday. And no one can limit that to a fucking month.

Okay, Iomikoe is getting a modeling deal and she is basically getting endorsements from many women of color.

Iomikoe grateful for skin. She saw her body progress throughout the years.

Now she is planning on bring awareness to vitiligo and telling women of color, that it's okay to be different. Iomikoe is telling the world that she is beautiful and proud in her skin.

We were at Journal de la Reyna wish her well and hope to see her in future postings and future endeavors.
