Max Julien Passed Away!

Gangsta's Paradise. Max Julien passed away.

The passing of an iconic actor who played in a classic Blaxploitation movie The Mack has passed away.

Max Julien who played Goldie "The Mack" died at the age of 88. 

Arabella Julien confirmed the actor's death to The Hollywood Reporter. Max Julien died in Sherman Oaks Hospital in California, the website reported. No cause of death was given.

The actor's death was confirmed by the gossip rag TMZ.

The movie also starred the iconic comedian Richard Pryor. The movie focused on Goldie being involved in a setup which led to him being sent to prison for five years. After getting out, he decided to form an organization that brought the A-game to pimping.

Max Julien's public relations team paid tribute to him in a statement to TMZ, saying that "During Julien's decades-long career, he was known for being bold, honest and straightforward. He would live and speak his own truth both professionally and privately. He was a though of a rare "man among men."

He was born on Jan. 1, 1933 in Washington, DC. 

He passed away on his birthday. 

Julien had inspired hip-hop like Scarface. 

Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Kid Rock, Sean "Puffy" Combs, Too Short and numerous others credit Julien as the founder of pimping.

He also appeared in movies like The Black Klansman, The Savage Seven, Getting Straight, Def Jam's How to Be a Player and Psych-Out.
