A NBA draft prospect was killed in a car accident in Los Angeles.

According to the Associated Press, Terrence Clarke, 19 was a former University of Kentucky Wildcat who played as a forward. He along with Brandon "BJ" Boston, Jr were traveling in 2021 Hyundai Genesis when he ran a red light. The vehicle hit a car and caused a multi-piled accident. The Genesis would eventually crash into a pole and then a wall.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirm the accident happened on Thursday afternoon.

The car raced through the red light clipped a car and a truck before eventually crashing into a pole and wall.

Standing at 6'7" the forward was not wearing his seatbelt and he was partially ejected from the vehicle.

He was rushed to a local hospital in Northridge where he was pronounced dead.

Kentucky coach John Calipari said he was "absolutely gutted and sick tonight" and called Clarke "a beautiful kid, someone who owned the room with his personality, smile and joy."

"We are all in shock," Calipari said. "I am on my way to Los Angeles to be with his mother and his brother to help wherever I can. This will be a difficult period for all those who know and love Terrence, and I would ask that everyone take a moment tonight to say a prayer for Terrence and his family. May he rest in peace."

The Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Sgt. John Matassa said that the truck driver who was hit was not seriously injured. They said they will check the vehicle's black box to determine if speed was a factor. They will see if Clarke was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

He entered the NBA draft last month after playing in just eight games last season because of right leg injury. He averaged 9.6 points and 2.6 rebounds in his one season playing for UK in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was survived by his parents, Osmine Clarke and Adrian Briggs, and his three siblings, Tatyana Gray, Gavin Clarke and Madison Adrianne.

Clarke grew up in Boston, Massachusetts in the neighborhood of Dorchester.
