NBC will close the precinct of Brooklyn Nine-Nine after bringing it from Fox.

The eighth season of Brooklyn Nine-Nine will air in the fall and it will be final season. The show stars Andy Samberg, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Andre Braugher and Joe Lo Truglio.

Chelsea Peretti left the series shortly after Fox canceled the sitcom.

The series originally aired on Fox for five seasons before it was abruptly cancelled. The series waged a campaign to bring it back to the air. The series soon got revived by NBC and was ordered for a full sixth season.

Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York Police Department in Brooklyn, Samberg plays a detective named Jake Peralta who has a relaxed, carefree and childish attitude. Jake does a successful arrest record. He has a love for Amy Santiago (played by Fumero). He is team includes: Cautious Charles Boyle (played Lo Truglio), his partner, the apathetic, aggressive and bossy Rosa Diaz (played by Beatriz). His bosses are Sgt. Terry Jeffords (played by Crews) who is a gentle giant who has phobia of being killed in the line of duty and the Capt. Raymond Holt (played by Braugher), their cold, calm, robotic and formal leader.

Dan Goor announced the news on social media and in a statement.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine will end its season in Fall 2021.

"I'm so thankful to NBC and Universal Television for allowing us to give these characters and our fans the ending they deserve. When Mike Schur and I first pitched the pilot episode to Andy, he said, 'I'm in, but I think the only way to tell this story is over exactly 153 episodes,' which was crazy because that was exactly the number Mike and I had envisioned. I feel incredibly lucky to have worked with this amazing cast and crew for eight seasons. They are not only among the most talented people in the business, they are all good human beings who have become a family. But most of all, I feel lucky that we have had the best fans in the world. Fans who literally saved us from cancellation. Fans who fill us with joy. Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honor the characters, the story and our viewers. I know some people will be disappointed it's ending so soon, but honestly, I'm grateful it lasted this long. Title of my sex tape."

The final season will have 10 episodes and air in Fall 2021.

The show has taken creative steps in the wake of George Floyd. Many police shows (dramas, comedies and science-fiction) have turned to addressing racial injustice.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has scrapped four episodes in the wake of the tragedy. The production team, cast and working crew donated $100,000 to the National Bail Fund Network.

The show will address police brutality, systematic racism, former president Donald J. Trump and Black Lives Matter.
