Joseph R. Biden and Kamala Devi Harris-Emhoff will be sworn in on January 20, 2021.

From this point, I will refer to him as President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. I am quite aware that Donald J. Trump has a few more days as the president.

He will now be regarded as former president, the last idiot or Donald J. Trump. I will say former vice president Mike Pence.

With the Blogger interface, it is getting harder to make blog posts. I am not kidding.

The way they rolled this interface out maybe the death knell for the once beloved social media platform.

I am not going to lie, this is frustrating and I am going to make my postings shorter and quicker now.

We are covering the chaos at the U.S. Capitol where Trump supporters have breached the steps of the federal building. We got word that many of these rioters have stolen property from the offices of lawmakers. Six people were killed in the wake of this chaos. People who were police officers, military veterans, children of elite members of society, an Olympic swimmer, a state lawmaker, firefighters, entertainers and doctors were involved in the January 6, 2021 attack. There were far-right extremists within the fold.

They will face a federal sandwiches. Those involved will face up to 20 years if convicted.

One of the mobsters will face murder charges in the death of Capitol cop Brian Sicknick.

The suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Lindsey Graham has a topsy turvy relationship with Trump.

For the first time in U.S. history, an American president was impeached twice. Former president Donald J. Trump was impeached by the House of Representatives for high crimes and misdemeanors. The Senate will conduct a trial shortly after Biden gets into office. Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) will no longer hold power of the Senate after Friday night. Georgia will certify Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA) and Sen. Raphael Warnock (D-GA) to officially join the senate.

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) will be the Senate Majority Leader and will conduct how the trial is ran. The Senate will be divided 50-50 with the vice president to decide votes.

After  the Senate rammed through former president Trump's third Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett, the Democrats have considered appointing another justice to balance the Court.

Former U.S. Senate candidate Jaime Harrison is being tapped to replace Democratic chairman Tom Perez. President Joe Biden announced the South Carolina politican as the party's leader with his vice chair being Michigan governor, Gretchen Whitmer.

Harrison ran a well funded campaign against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). Harrison would end up losing by double digits. Graham who is a fierce defender of former president Donald J. Trump was outspent and actually feared losing his senate reelection bid.

Biden's selection of Harrison comes on behalf of Rep. Jim Clyburn (R-SC). The House Majority Whip has been one of Biden's strongest supporters and a lifesaver. He also urging Biden to learn the lessons of Stacey Abrams, the influential factor to the Georgia senate wins.

Now tasked to keep the House and Senate majorities, Harrison must juggle the Biden agenda and the progressives who are pushing for the president to hold Trump and his allies responsible for the years of controversy.

For state party officials, many of whom continue to harbor resentment over the DNC’s diminishment during the Barack Obama administration, the selection of Harrison came as a relief.

About 70 state party chairs and vice chairs sent a letter to Biden’s transition team in November that, while not naming him, listed a series of qualities that all “matched Jaime’s resume and experience,” as one of them put it.

Stacey Abrams is going to a powerful force going into the Midterms. Jaime Harrison is going to use her advice to win the South.

Those party chiefs view Harrison as one of their own, a former state committee chair who will lead a decentralized DNC and advocate for plowing money into organizing at the state level — a departure, they hope, from how the party was managed under Obama.

Harrison’s pick was something of a foregone conclusion, with DNC members viewing him as the frontrunner for months and no viable challenger emerging.

But it’s also a sign of the influence wielded by Clyburn, a South Carolina congressman and top Biden ally who helped revive the president-elect’s 2020 campaign by endorsing him before his state’s primary.

DNC members will vote for their chair and the other positions between Jan. 18 and Jan. 21 on an electronic ballot due to concerns about COVID-19. When Democrats win the White House, this vote is typically a formality that ratifies the president-elect’s choices.

One of the challenges facing the party in the years ahead will be raising money without President Donald Trump in office to mobilize donors.

But some Democrats have questioned whether his ability to reap big sums while running against a leading boogeyman on the left will translate to fundraising for the DNC. Democrats will also face an uphill battle in the 2022 elections, when the party that controls the White House typically suffers losses.

“Of course we want to help President Biden, but the House and Senate and the governors races in 2022 are going to be the major focus of the DNC,” said Carol Fowler, a longtime Democratic official in South Carolina who is close with Harrison, acknowledging the fundraising challenges for the party in power. “Jamie can do it. He can get it done. Those of us who know him know he’ll be an exceptional leader and his focus will be on those races.”

Harrison will do his best to win back progressives, Black voters, Latinos and independents who previously voted for Trump.
